To reset the ECU in a Honda Civic, start by ensuring your engine is warm. Take a short drive to prevent a cold start. Once stopped, turn off the car and disconnect the battery. Alternatively, you can remove the ECU fuse from the engine compartment fuse box. Replace the fuse and close the hood before starting the car. Let it idle for a minimum of 10 minutes without touching the gas or brake pedals, and ensure all accessories are off. After turning off and on the car, drive to allow the computer to reacquaint with the fuel settings.
To reboot the computer in a Honda Civic, you should unhook the battery for around 10 minutes.
Remove the ECU fuse, reinsert it, and allow your car to idle for at least ten minutes. Make sure to turn off all accessories and avoid touching the brake or gas pedal. Afterwards, turn the car off, then back on, and take a short drive so the ECU can reset itself.
