I live in San Jose but driving 500 miles round trip to get our new 2016 Honda Pilot was worth it because of Barber Honda's competitive pricing and excellent customer service. I worked with Matt Lopez, Barber Honda's Internet/Fleet Department Manager and he was able to beat the pricing of every Northern California Honda dealer by thousands of dollars. He was also very easy to deal with. He was very upfront and transparent with taxes, fees, and pricing and provided a hassle free experience. When I arrived at the dealership to buy the car it only took 1 hour from when I entered to when I left to complete all the paperwork and drive out of the dealership with my new Pilot! Thank you Matt and Barber Honda!

After they have done with the service like oil change then there is a problem comes up with your vehicle it happens to me several times and their employee are rude and sarcastic. We cannot trust their technicians. The ladies at lube service department are so rude they gave you a wrong information about to your vehicle service history. It will cost you a lot of money every time you do your service at Honda Barbers Bakersfield California.

Met with Matt Lopez looking for crv. Had a trade in vehicle. First Matt appeared to be in a Hurry. We asked was he busy . He repled NoStill felt he wasn't interested in showing us a Crv. Then he looked at our trade in vehicle and gave us a rediculus estimate. No effort was giving to sale a vehicle. Went down the streetTo Jim Burke and brought a suv and was giving a fair price for trade in. Wouldn't recommend anyone to go there . Very poor Customer service. I think Honda sale persons think Wow Honda we don't need to even triedTo sale. Very poor service .

Came in for routine Timing Belt Change then after took my Honda Odyssey home and next day found oil puddle on my garage floor. Took it back in and they found Power Steering pump rubber hose and high pressure line leaking. They wanted me to pay for repair. I explained to them there was no leak prior to Barber Honda Service Dept. working on it. So they said they will repair rubber hose leak but not the high pressure line leak due to high cost. I complained to Service Rep.Jose Garcia and Service Manager Dustin Kryger and they said sorry too bad its my problem. I filed compliant to BBB and BAR. Beware of these people, very poor customer service, they will not help you. They will work on your car, break stuff, blame it on coincidence, and over charge you. Don't spend your hard earned money on these crooks, take your business else where.

Came in looking for a new accord. Test drove and sat down to talk terms. Matt Lopez was my salesman and between him and the financing agent, tacked on an additional 2200 in "fee"s to my final financed amount. Did not disclose the "extra" they had added onto the car to inflate the price. Worst dealership in terms of integrity. If your lazy and need a Honda in Bakersfield, then come here. Otherwise, you'd do yourself a service to drive either an hour south to Valencia or an hour east to Antelope Valley. Great job reinforcing the car salesman stereotype.

Matt Lopez is rude and condescending and they let him become a manager of the online fleet? WHY? ! Do not let him attempt to sell you a car he is a complete liar. I had been communicating with him online through email regarding the lease of a new Honda Pilot, or Odyssey as we needed a bigger vehicle. We had $3200 to put down plus my husband was trading his 2002 Toyota Camry in which was ranked at 2900 in good condition and about 2500 for fair condition. I told him around what time I would be coming down and that we would be there Sat. he gave me his cell and told me to call him when we were on our way. I emailed him to remind him, I called his cell it went to voice mail I left a message, and then I called the dealership to check if he was in that day no one knew and they kept putting me on hold. Finally I just showed up in person. He was not your typical sales guy at all. Usually sales people are very hospitable, polite, look you in the eye etc. This guy barely looked me in the face when he was talking to me. He didn't even remember who I was or any of our previous discussions, I might as well have asked for anyone on the floor that day.When he did show me a pilot he just unlocked it and stood there, no explanation of what is great about, what features it has etc, talked very fast like he was in a hurry to get us out of there and was real short with his answers to any of our questions, he kept walking off way up ahead of us and we had 2 kids in tow, just rude and came off as an arrogant a$%#&*. He just didn't seem eager for our business at all. Then after briefly looking inside of a Pilot my husband had asked if we could see the Odyssey, instead of showing us what we were looking for he just showed us the floor model which is the most expensive one with all the bells and whistles. He literally walked away and disappeared while we were looking at the van. Then says he needs to have our trade in inspected. He comes back and tells me that not only will we not be getting the $2900 for the trade in but that it is in fair condition cause the tires are balding and that is KBB value is around $1500 that is funny cause I looked up both good and fair values and they were both in the 200 range. Then the kicker he tells us he can't even take our trade in cause we have to get it smoged. After his complete lack of salesmanship and his attitude like he was doing us a favor by giving us his time I was relieved to hear I would not be buying form him. I then called later and spoke to Biannca and told her nothing, I just said I had a trade in and it needs a smog check and could I trade it in as is or would I have to pay for the check first, she said "no we can take it as is just bring it down and I can see what I can work out for you" Matt Lopez outright lied to me saying that the dealership can't take in trades that need smog and we would have to pay for that to be fixed first before he would be able to help us and basically told us bye. I love my Honda Accord that I bought when I lived in AZ. and the dealership out there was amazing, then I move her and experience this crap hole. If any knows any ACTUAL salesmen that work at BARBER let me know cause I really love Honda's but this is the only xxxx hole of a Honda dealership we have in Bakersfield. I'll drive out of town if need be to find a good dealership with salesmen who actually want my money.****EDITIED 4/13/15I left a message with the general manager and never got a call back, but he did reply to me on Yelp only to say he still wanted my money and that Matt would no longer be helping me. When I emailed him asking why I was lied to and why Matt told me what he did I never got a response. Pretty much what I expected from Barber Honda. I drove 2 hours to Lancaster to get the service I deserved and got a great deal on a new Odyssey we are thrilled with our purchase and the customer service we received. Imagine that our salesman actually knew who we were when we arrived and we got all the details on the functions of the Odyssey and test drove 2 models. Which we never even got from BARBER HONDA. We weren't there more than 20 min before Matt was pushing us out the door. Thank you Lancaster Honda you guys were awesome.

I bought a new car at another dealership in Fresno, CA in August of 2014 but I currently work in Bakersfield, CA. While I was driving to Bakersfield by tire blew out. I went to Barbour Honda in Bakerfield CA to see if my tire was under warranty. I asked since my car was only about 2 months old if the tire was under warranty. The lady who was helping me (Erma) told me that the tires had no warranties. I had no choice but to buy a new tire costing me $200. I later contacted an authorized Michelin tire dealership and I was told that I got a "fast one" pulled on me and if I had gone to them first that I would have most likely had the tire replaced free of charge. If you have a new car and a tire goes out, do not go to Barbour Honda. First go to an authorized dealer of make for your tires. I wish I was given this option but now I am unfortunately out $200.

The worst experience with a dealership ever! The sales guy was super rude and condescending. He would get so flustered when I asked questions and did not want to answer them, he got loud with me and even tried to talk over me to my partner pretending I was not there. Horrible experience, they had a car sale with us just because we had our heart set on a Honda. Of course we did not purchase on that day because of the terrible customer service we received from Barber Honda more so from the sales person Andre Alame. If you want a good buying experience I suggest you go out of town.

I was helping an LA friend, trying to get an agreement on a car and price over the phone. As you all know... this is a no no in this business. Well it worked out extremely well at this dealership, and Pat was great....what a square guy...very fair and reasonable. In today's world of internet knowledge, busy customers, and economic times...a person and dealership that will work with you and help the process along is like water in the desert. Thanks ! We both appreciated the experience.

My husband and I were looking to buy a Minnie Van. We dealt with two different sales men that both seemed to have an attitude problem. We had a difficult situation and they seemed like they didn't even want to help us. Every time I spoke I was given a dirty look or they would address the answer to my husband. We said over and over again that we did not want to lease a vehicle and they kept pushing that on us, they didn't seem to care about what we were looking for and I got the impression like they thought their dealership was above us. I will never go back to Honda in Bakersfield ca and will let my family and friends know about my experience there.

Always wanted a Honda. Always hated the process of buying a car. The crew at Barber made it really easy. I was concerned about my credit but they worked out a real good interest rate. I am soooo happy with my new car. I have had service work done here before and have always been satisfied with the results. I love that they have accommodations for young children.

This is the worst dealership in town. The manager Roy was rude and treated bad because I was a woman. He looked down on me and made litte jokes he thought I wouldnt understand. I could hear him and the finace manager using bad words and laughing at my credit. I got my Honda in Lancaster. Sorry but I will not support a dealership that employs these bozos.

I had to take my Honda in to get a new transmission and replace the power steering pump and a new switch for the driver's seat. Overall the experience I had was prompt and efficient, I was provided a rental car for the couple of days which was very convenient so that I could still be able to do daily stuff. I appreciated the service and courtesy from this service department and I recommend that if you are in the area and need to get your honda serviced this is the place to go. Thanks!!

It was time for a oil change and a 30,000. mile service on our 2009 Honda Pilot, my husband suffers from health problems, he was not happy that this was on our todo list as he was in pain. I was the one who takes the Honda in for service on most trips. I told him, don't worry they take great care of you, get you right in and they take care of you. We arrived and just like my other trips to the express service dept. they let us know what we needed, explained it to us, answered our questions, then went to work. My husband and I enjoyed a cold bottle of water that was there for customers, before we knew it we were ready to go. Mr. Lee Perez: The Express Service Adviser, always takes care with customers, as I sat their I watched and listened to how professional he is, and how he takes time for people. We LOVE our Honda and the Express Service Dept. This is the only Service Dept. that I have gladly taken my own car into. Thank You, Betty Brooks

I heard about the free oil change for veterans while buying a part for my visor.I arrived and was greeted with a smile by a young female. She directed me inside where Dustin Kryger took my information. My wife was there to pick me up and I had a coffee and pastry. I received a call one hour later to say my Accord was ready.When I arrived I was again greeted by smiling faces and several of the staff now had on t-shirts with either Marines or Army on the front, very nice. A different gentleman assisted me getting my keys and as I was leaving, Dustin thanked me by name. As I was leaving I was given a choice of a tri-tip sandwich or a hot-dog and drink.I was very impressed by the staff and service and will definitely recommend Honda to all I speak to in the future. This is the third Honda I've owned. It has been a long time since I have seen this type of hospitality and thank you for your generosity and tribute to the military.

Excellent, professional staff and service. Class act dealership for honoring the American Veterans with free oil changes. I will be coming here when in the market for a new vehicle. Every single person was friendly and courteous. My only complaint: Dustin is a Cowboy's fan!! Go Steelers!!

It was a great experience to arrive in the early am on a Saturday to such great service as well as upbeat and friendly people. Dustin went out of his way to get me in and out as quickly as possible. I have to drive wire a ways to have my car serviced at the dealership and the service I received makes it all worth it!
