We had the best salesman. Our experience was rocky by no fault of Darlings. Our salesman Dustin was a very HONEST and pleasant young man. Dustin gave us 110% of himself and worked hard to find us what we were looking for and he did an excellent job. We are very happy with our new to us pickup. Recently our old van broke down. We were looking for a new or used car and we went to a couple of dealerships and they were not so nice. But then we went to Darling Ford and met Stacie Lezotte. She was a ray of sunshine and helped us find the perfect car for us. She made us laugh and feel respected. We also met Dan on the buying process he was great and friendly and very helpful with all the choices. Was on vacation when my car breaks down. They were able to get my car semi-working because they were not able to get one of the parts. I asked them to call my dealer service and tell them what part I need which will have a lot. They agreed on it. A week and a half and 3 phone calls, still did not call. They initially claimed they called and no one answered. I called a few times and was able to get through. After I confronted them, they then said they are busy. If they are not going to call, don't agree on it. I also felt they over-called me both on the car rental and services since they know that I am on vacation and need a car.

been twice for oil changes ("the works" package"). i was promptly notified of other work that needed to be done as well as provided with quotes, and they did all the warranty phone calls and paperwork for me. although i didn't rent a vehicle from them while the work was being done, they gave me a ride to another car rental company without question. i received calls when my car was ready to be picked up and they were willing to work around my schedule.

I've owned a lot of cars & trucks over the last 53 years and feel that the 2 Service Writers at Darling's VW are the best I've ever encountered. They know the vehicle inside & out, are well informed and always willing to answer my questions. I didn't buy my vehicle from them, but it doesn't seem to matter, I get great service and they've even honored coupons from another VW Dealer. You can't beat that.

Firstly my Audi 2016 S6 has been a trouble free car that I enjoy driving. Darling's service department are courteous, competent and accommodating. My car has been ready when they said it would be and was washed the last time I had it serviced. They give loaners if you need one and so far scheduling appointments has been very convenient. Easy to deal with.

I have had to VW CPO vehicles bought from and serviced at Darlings VW in Bangor. The sales team is fair and knowledgeable, even helping to source another CPO VW that was just what I wanted after I lost my 1st in an accident. Not only did they find my current VW TDI Jetta Sportswagen, they held it for me for three weeks with no deposit while I waited for the insurance claim. Then there is the Service Team.. Scott and Kim are amazing! They have always gone out of their way to help me on my service visits, squeeze me in at the end of the day to accommodate my work schedule and provide me with a loaner vehicle whenever the repairs needed are more than a few hours. The combination of an ethical and knowledgeable sales team and super helpful , friendly and knowledgeable service team makes me love going to Darlings!

I had an unfortunate experience of buying a "new -to-me" car out of state, and promptly blowing out a tire the second day I had it, which necessitated the replacement of all 4 low profile tires. Not only did Darling's get me the high performance tires I needed at a very fair price, they gave me a loaner to use and took care of my problem swiftly. My representative was Eric, and he was simply outstanding! He kept me informed every step of the way and made me feel that my business was valued and that they cared about my safety.

My scheduled service on my 2016 Escape was totally first class. The only complaint was that the routine service was over priced. My wife and I both liked our salesmen Peter Bradshaw very much. He is unlike any car salesmen we have had in the past. Not pushy, very friendly and pleasant and went out of his way to find the color we wanted which was in Mass. He explained the process and answered all our questions and put us at ease. We were also impressed with Kristen Keith in Finance. The above personal qualities can be equally applied to her. Both were extremely good at their jobs. We absolutely love our new 2017 Jetta SE. We feel it is without any doubt the best car value on the road. it has it all.,seat comfort, quiet cabin, 42mpg. avg., agile, smooth and effortless and fun to drive with power to spare when passing old Subaru drivers on back roads. We dropped our car off to Eric at the service dept. who set things into motion. We had a complete oil change, put on 4 new tires, and had an alignment done. The whole process took 3 hrs. and Eric kept us up to date as things went along. We can not say enough about Eric who has tended us thus far through 2 cars and 3 trucks. I went into Darlings in Bangor Maine, on September 23, 2016 to "just look"! After trying out several vehicles I decided on the 2015 Ford Fusion. My salesman Corey Richards and finance manager Dan Maldonado were by far the most respectful and fun people I have ever had the pleasure of purchasing a vehicle from. Corey went above and beyond what any salesman in my experience has ever done. They were both very professional and made this a fun and exciting experience, with absolutely NO pressure. I went in on my own sort of expecting some pressure, but received only friendly and professional service. I am loving my 2015 Ford Fusion( which I got an incredible deal on). If you are in the market for a vehicle, I highly recommend you working with Corey and Dan....They make things happen!!!!

My most recent repair experience at Darlings is still ongoing. The service department had my vehicle (2010 Transit Connect) for 9 days. It needed a new ignition key cylinder because the old one wore out after 70k miles. Its a service van, and I do make a lot of short trips - known issue, I believe. The reason the repair took so long was because they'd never done one before and couldn't figure out how. After the vehicle was returned to me, I discovered that occasionally when removing the key, the key cylinder would pop out in my hand as well. I took the van back, left it from Friday to Monday, but they couldn't fix it because the parts hadn't arrived. I was told they'd work with my schedule to make it good. I live more that an hour from Bangor, and I work out the van every day. No matter how much they "work with my schedule" I lose time and money. The current issue will hopefully be resolved the next time I happen to be in Bangor and can leave the vehicle for a couple of hours.I have had other negative experiences with this service department (and the same vehicle) before. A wheel bearing went bad after about 30K miles. I called them up and said "I need a wheel bearing."They told me it was hard to diagnose a wheel bearing problem without having a technician look at the vehicle. I took the vehicle up and left it. They called me later that day and told me I needed a wheel bearing, but they didn't have one in stock and it would take a couple of days to get one. Back to Bangor, get the van, wait 2 days, back to Bangor, leave the van, back to Bangor, pick up the van. This same scenario played out again several months later with another wheel bearing. I bought the vehicle from Darlings, they are as large a dealership as exists in eastern Maine, and the wheel bearing issue was a known problem with early Transits. I was astonished that the couldn't keep a spare part on the shelf. Same problem with the ignition key issue - no parts on the shelf despite lead time from the customer. They save on inventory, customer loses on time. Beyond that, the chain of communication from the service scheduler to the service manager is very frustrating from the customer's point of view. Even when working through an active repair ticket, you can't get through to the manager handling the repair - you have to go through the screening process every time. The manager handling the current key fix has repeatedly failed to call me after telling me he would with updates on the work, etc. When you try to get back to him, you get screened by reception and nothing happens. I have bought a handful of vehicles from Darlings over the years, both business and personal. I'm small potatoes for a big dealership, but you can put me down as a "former" customer.

On 8/20 I bought my first car at Darlings Ford in Bangor! I worked with Craig Cattelle and Dan Maldonado and they made the experience an easy and fun one. The VW GTI I agreed to purchase via telecon was misreprsented by website and sales.It was not equipped with sunroof, leather, nav, etc,etc ,as represented.A four hour round trip was needed to discover and point this out to sales.Sales chalked it up to human error! It took me less than a minute to discover their error.Is anyone paying attention to details at Darling? Or just the next sale?Mistakes like this don't happen at a well managed business. Never again.

Well, the folks at Darlings have hit it out of the park again for me! The mileage on my lease was close to being maxed out and I still had over a year left, yikes! In talking with Ryan Pelkey and Craig Cattelle about what to do they came up with a plan. What a plan it was! Not only did they get me out of the lease they also got me into a 2016 new car lease. These two went above and beyond to make sure that I didn't get hurt financially and threw in some lobsters to boot! It doesn't get any better than that. Then I went to see Dan the Finance man Maldonado. He worked the numbers on Wear Care and the Tire Program. I don't know how he does it but he has magic in those "bean counter" fingers! I have owned 40+ cars in my lifetime and have never been treated as good as I have been at Darlings. Sometimes I feel like Norm on the show Cheers when I come into Darlings only they call me Higgy! What a great bunch. That's why I will always be a repeat customer! Thanks again for helping my daughter and me all within a week. You folks are the best (second to none)!!

We replace our 2 vehicles every 3-4 years. We have bought most from Darlings Ford, but have done business with at least 3 other dealerships. I will walk away from high pressure sales tactics including emails, phone calls ect. there was none of that. I was able to negotiate a good deal on a 2016 Escape. They had a large selection and took time to find just the right one. They even went the extra mile and installed luggage racks on it for us. We have put 3,ooo plus miles so far, including 1,200 mile highway trip, comfortable, plenty of get up and go with small ecoboost engine. Good deal, great vehicle.

On my last visit which included oil and filter change and tire change over, our Team Service Manager Eric Achorn addressed a possible problem with the Low Brake Fluid light. Although a thorough check of the system indicated no problem , Eric explained prior to inspection the various possibilities as to the cause for the alarm light. This is typical during all our visits. We always get a good, clear explanation about what will be done and what has been done to our Focus during the visit.

Everyone is so friendly . On my last visit for my tire change over , inspection and oil change I was assisted by Logan who was very attentive. He was so pleasant I wasn't mad at him Even though he made me buy new tires in order to pass inspectionI appreciate the curstesy van and always take advantage of a ride to the mall. The van driver is always pleasant too. I wish I knew his name so he could be acknowledged as well. I will use Darling's Ford when it's time for a new car and I highly recommend the dealership.

The service staff was ready to do their work when I arrived on time at 8 AM. I brought my dog as I needed to have her with me. Scott provided a private office for my dog and I to wait about 4 hours which was very convenient for us. The work was done on time and under the estimated cost. I've never been a dealership service fan, any dealership. I've feared high prices and a hard sell attitude of things I don't really need. I tried this service department because I had a problem that my mechanic could not fix. I was so pleasantly surprised that I would go back for sure. I dealt with three different people on the phone, prior to my appointment, they were all great. When I arrived Kim did my paper work and went over the car with me. Her performance was flawless, everything I would want in a Service Manager and none of the things I wouldn't. She was very competent, confident, honest and professional. I was so comfortable with her that I ended up doing more work than I planned and work that I would have normally saved for my own mechanic or done myself. I'm always fascinated by company management/attitude and it's clear to me that someone higher up is sending a clear message about how customers should be treated at Darling's Bangor service, even the two rental car people I dealt with were great.

We've used Darlings for many years for service on our various vehicles - Volvos, Fords, VWs. Service has been by and large thorough and positive. We recently had to leave our VW on an emergency last-minute basis as we were headed out of town - electronics were doing weird things, liking opening and closing windows on their own. They took good care of the vehicle and kept us informed by email of everything that was going on. Kim Cotta was great as keeping in touch with us and letting us know our options. We've been looking at a purchase - not quite there yet - but have been impressed by John Tilton and his knowledge of vehicles and his willingness to help us through the process of buying a vehicle.

I went here for an Urgent airbag warning on my volvo. After googling the issue I was scared of the price I might have to pay to fix this. The employees were helpful and kept me up to date along the way and it was a FRACTION of the cost I was expecting. I was very happy with the whole process. Darling's is the closest VW dealership to where I live, which is 150 miles away, 300 miles round trip. I have made two visits there in regards to getting recalls/service issues taken care of. One was scheduled, and the other was a recall I asked about when stopping in to get my TDI Goodwill Package activated. I can't quite remember the gentleman's name whom assisted me with that, but I believe it was Daniel. For just popping in with only about 30 minutes to spare, Daniel got everything taken care of with ease. Daniel then brought me to Kim to ask about a recall I had mentioned. As soon as Kim realized I was not from the area, she made it very convenient and accommodated my needs. I was in and out in a matter of minutes, the recall had been corrected properly, and my vehicle was returned in the same condition I had dropped it off in. I also admired the fact that Kim was extremely knowledgeable about what was going on with Volkswagen recalls. She knew the answers to the questions without having to reference anything. I felt very comfortable leaving my car in Darling's care and will certainly be a returning customer!

I showed up at Darling at the end of a sloppy snowy day with a flat tire. Scott, the Audi service advisor, greeted me with courtesy, listened to my story, and immediately arranged to get the spare put on my car. He got a new tired the next day and installed it. We had mentioned an earlier Ford recall, I believe in June '15, concerning possible water leaks in the lower firewall. Sometimes the waiting period, both for an appointment and while your vehicle is being serviced, can be a little on the lengthy side, but in this case, it's more of a testament to how large their customer base is, rather than an issue with their service. Our experience with Darling's in Bangor was wonderful. Roger, Kerry and Kristen went above and beyond our expectations. Granted it takes a whole day basically to purchase your vehicle no matter where you buy one, but they all sat and talked to us, showed us the different options, and made truck buying as easy as possible. I can not thank them enough for all their expert advise and we even got hugs from everyone. I can't thank Kerry and Roger enough for all they did for us.

My experience at Darlings was wonderful and continues Craig was the person who help me choose a car for my needs, He was attentive and listen with no pressure. He went in early to accommodate my work schedule and was helpful in learning all the bells and whistles on the car. Kristen in finance helped me through a payment error with volkswagon. they would not take responsibility for their error in my payment schedule. It would have been a payment that I should not had to pay and Volkswagon was saying I did. . Kristen talked with Volkswagon several times about the error they refused to correct it Kristen went to finance at Darlings and they offered to make that payment so my credit will stay un harmed. I thought we had ruined our new tires or damaged our Allroad when we hit an extremely hard rut in the road. I called Darlings and explained what had happened. Darlings said bring the car right in for inspection. I did just that. Within a very few minutes I had a complete tangible readout of all systems. There was no damage putting my mind at ease. I have been always impressed with the level of expertise of the VW/Audi Service Team but it's the personal relationship I have had with service personnel that's the big difference - I remember Peter Gilbin and followed him from Subaru (we owned only one) to Darlings. Peter was an amazing human being and super service manager. He got me hooked on Darlings. Ryan and Scott kept it up but Kim has been the "frosting on the cake" - a real "car guy" who can talk with us "car guys" about a lot more than just factory service. Wyatt in parts has been helpful to me long before I started bringing our cars for service.

I have been going back to Darling's for the last 3 years and now bought 2 vehicles there. They are always quick and polite. I never feel like they are trying to up sell me, always just taking care of my needs. They always prepare me - you should know you will need new breaks or new tires in the next few months. But never pushy. And even when I called around for tire prices they were the best deal and most willing to explsin what I needed with winter tires! The people here are very nice, I recommend them for any car needs from purchasing a vehicle to any service needs.

good to very good. initial problems with defective replacement part caused me to have to bring vehicle back again thus needed a rental for about 7 days total. also initially it took 2 to 3 weeks to get an appointment for a transmission problem which is disconcerting for a regular customer. i recognize transmissions are sensitive creatures but long service time window is problematic and needs abetter solution

This dealership sucks. They give you lip service till you buy the truck then they don't care about you or your vehicle at all. Not only did they call me and team me to never give them another bad review or else. But they broke 2 things on my truck and had it in their service department for 2 weeks when it was only up there for a mirror replacement. There's a reason ford won't let darlings put a deal ship in ellsworth. Because they are terrible. Stay away from this place. You are better of going to whited or Portland to get a vehicle.

I became a customer of Darlings two years ago when I leased my first electric car, the Ford C-Max. I did not go in intending to lease an electric vehicle nor was it even on my radar. The salesman at the time talked with me until he figured out that for my driving purposes, leasing an electric car was the most interesting and efficient option available.My next stop was the finance department where I spoke with Mr Maldonado. Recently, my husband, toddler son and I came to Darlings Ford with the intention of buying a brand new vehicle. With our growing family we needed something bigger and better than our Jeep. We left with something other than what we went in for and certified new. Rick Souther was our sales rep and we highly recommend him! As a 19 year old college student and first time car buyer with no credit, I didn't know what to expect from Darlings. My mom and I entered the dealership and was greated with a friendly hello from Rick Souther. After talking about what I wanted in a car we entered the lot and looked at a couple cars. Rick was very knowledgeable about every car and answered any questions that my mom and I had. I test drove a 2015 Ford Focus and wanted to get one as soon as I finished driving. After selecting a black Ford Focus with black interior and it only had 374 miles on it. Rick took my info and headed to financial. After about 30 stressful minutes, Rick emerged and said that I had got the car! I headed to financial and met Ben Doucette to do some paperwork. The paperwork was quick and painless and Ben answered all my financial questions clearly and concisely. I was able to put $2000 down and was able to get a 0% interest rate!!! I was ecstatic that I was able to get such a deal on a great car. So as a first time car buyer with no credit I was able to get a brand new car. It's safe to say that I will buy all my new cars at darlings for the rest of my life.

I went into Darlings Ford dealership today with little hope of going off the lot with a new car. Our car broke down for the fourth time on the highway. With three children who need to go to school and commuting to work every day my girlfriend and I decided we needed a new car, Today! We had plans to visit with family that we thought were going to have to be broken due to our car again. Upon entering Darlings we immediately greeted by Rick Souther. He took us to his desk and listened to our story he helped us look over cars and tried to find what we were looking for and to help stay within our budget. He was kind and knowledgeable. My girlfriend and I both are often judged by our tattoos and piercings and we did not feel that way at this dealership, we were treated as the hard working family that we are. After helping us with our budget and finding the car we wanted he took us over for a test drive. We knew we found the car we wanted and mostly the sales consultant we wanted to work with. After finishing up with the loan paperwork we were told we would not be able to take the car off the lot today due to the insurance company not being open for us to switch insurances. We were slightly disappointed that we had no car to even take us home that evening, but with the amazing service we had we completely understood and continued on with our paperwork. Once the loan went through we moved into the office of Dan Maldonado. His service was also amazing. I have never had such wonderful costumer service. He kept us laughing and the paper working moving but never without making sure we fully understood everything. He gave us helpful advice and made us feel very comfortable. After all the paper work was finished Rick Souther came into the office and gave us the most amazing news, knowing what a hardship we were in on this holiday weekend he was able to pull some strings and let us leave today with our car. They were so kind to go above and beyond to give us the best costumer service. I am so happy to be working with this company that clearly value their costumers so much. I will find it very hard to ever want to turn anywhere else knowing that I will be taken care of so well at Darlings. To say we had a positive experience would be an understatement. My most recent purchase was a used Honda that Chris Hart helped me find as a commuter on very short notice. I got a fantastic deal and was not pushed to buy more than what i needed. Chris set everything up for me over the phone as work prevented me from spending a lot of time at the dealership. All i had to do was sign paperwork, make my payment, and i was out the door. I went into darlings VW after already scouting the lot a couple times, and for the most part knew what I wanted. I walked in and met Rick Souther. Working with John Tilton to buy my certified pre-owned Audi Q3 was by far the easiest car buying experience that I have had to date. He took the time to explain all of the features of the car and warranties that went along with it. There was absolutely no pressure to buy the car, even when I wanted to go home and take some time to think on it. Everyone in the building was polite and focused on what they were doing. Our Salesman, Mario Panaro, was kind and helpful during what could have been a stressful situation. We were worried our credit wouldn't be good enough, and since our car of 8 years had broke down for the last time, we were going to need a vehicle. Others came up and introduced themselves during the process. Mario Panaro listened to our needs: a vehicle that would be good in the winter weather, not break the bank, and big enough for a family. All of our experiences in car shopping, up until yesterday, have been extremely stressful, sometimes humiliating, and always frustrating. Yesterday we entered the building at Noon-time and were on our way with a Ford Escape bu 4:00 in the afternoon. It felt like a miracle! They even kept our payments down to what we said we could afford. Mario showed us how to set everything up in our vehicle, making the technology easy to understand, We worked with Mario Panaro and Dan Maldonado (Finance Man). Would we buy or trade there again? ABSOLUTELY. Thank you for making our experience the best it could be.

My elderly mom is on a very fixed income and had a car she bought slightly used years ago from Darling's and hoped it would last until she no longer drove. Recently I had to purchase a new vehicle. This was a task I was dreading as I find buying a vehicle a 'necessary evil'! After going to one dealership and receiving horrible service, I was on the verge of just giving up when we decided to go to Darlings and see what they had available and how they would deal with our trade in. From the minute we met Dan Allen the experience was great. The customer service at Darlings is above and beyond. Dan, John Storen and Dan 'The Finance Man' all gave great customer service. This experience has changed my view of vehicle buying, who knew you could leave a dealership and not feel like you had just been 'beat up'?!!! I love my new Escape and when it is time to trade again I will DEFINATELY go back to Darlings and Dan Allen. Dan took the time to show me how different things work, he SYNC'ed my phone and then he has called to see if I am still satisfied with my purchase. I have only owned 2 brand new cars and they have both been a VW Jetta. I LOVE them both! Since I already owned a car that was payment free and I really loved my car, I didn't think I would find another that would give me that "feel good" feeling. Alan showed me a few of the car I told him I wanted (automatic Jetta), but after driving it..I wasn't happy. If I'm going to now have a payment, I really want it to be "THE car". He showed me a few until he finally found the one that I could say, "YES!!! That is the one". Once I drove it, I knew it was MINE!! Beautiful brown (milk chocolate) with classy interior. Everyone worked together to make the payments something I could fit into my budget. Even after the purchase, I have been back with questions about the car and I have been taken care of on the spot. I feel like you always are important, even after the sale. Bangor VW... You will always be the place I recommend to my friends and family!! When I arrived I was able to walk around the line of trucks for a good 10 mins with out being hassled, not sure if this is normal procedure for them but I like it, Gives a customer a chance to look around on there own. When I walked in I was greeted by the receptionist as the few sales man on the floor were with other customers. I worked with John in sales who was very good to deal with. Never pressured, easy to talk to, knowledgeable and took a good part of his day making the deal happen. Sales manager Kerry was fair to deal with, never pressured and also easy to talk too. I had been in the market for a new Ford Edge for about a year. I was currently driving a 2011 FWD Edge but didn't want to weather another Maine winter without AWD. I had been talking with several dealerships trying to find the right fit for me and was having a difficult time. Many of the salesmen were pushy, unprofessional, and impersonal which left me frustrated and unmotivated. I stumbled across a vehicle on Darlings website and drove over to see it. When I walked into the dealership I was greeted by Paul Gervais and his welcoming smile. My first impression was that he was friendly, relaxed, and professional which made me very comfortable. He told me the vehicle I was interested in was no longer available so I told him what I was looking for and he found it in New York. After 2-3 weeks of daily conversations, crunching numbers, etc we came to an agreement. By this time I was sure the Darlings Team wouldn't want to hear my name again! I went to the dealership yesterday to pick up my New Ford Edge that they picked up from New York and I was greeted with the same smile and genuine welcome as the first day. Paul was so patient and understanding throughout the entire process and did everything within his power to meet my financial needs as did his manager Ryan. I also had the pleasure of spending quality time with Dan the finance man and what a wonderful guy! The Darlings Team was so welcoming from start to finish and made me feel so comfortable. Brought VW in for 15,000 service. The wait time was a bit longer than I expected; however, Kim explained why it took so long. Also, while in the waiting area, Kim came in and spoke to another customer; what was discussed is the main reason I am sending feedback. Due to human error (which is going to happen - just need to try to fix the problem within reason), the customer was not going to have her vehicle serviced as anticipated. Kim came in and explained what happened, took ownership for the error, and gave the woman a couple of options; she also expressed a desire to receive suggestions. The woman was understandably annoyed but not angry; she accepted one of Kim's suggestions. I was very impressed with Kim's demeanor and willingness to work with the woman - she exemplifies true customer service. Scott Kennard has also displayed good customer service. I don't know about the other service folks as I have not had any interaction with them; however, I suspect they follow the same standard.

I gave a 5 star rating because of the ease of my experience. I started looking online as I live 2 and 1/2 hours from the dealership. Once I found a car that I was interested in, I emailed them from the car information. I was contacted the next day and that started my shopping process. I filed the application online and then was contacted by the dealer to narrow down my soon to be new car. They listened to what I wanted and didn't want and worked within my budget. The next morning I received a call from Dan Maldonado, the finance guy and within the hour I was headed to the dealership. They called me on my ride down and said they had a car out front ready for me to take. When I got there I was pleasantly surprised and very happy. Met with Dan and then took the car for a test drive and came back and said "this is it." After that Alan helped me to understand all the functions of the car and helped me hook my phone up. He answered all my questions and was very helpful. I then went and sat with Dan and finished all the paperwork. Dan made all that paperwork seem not so scary. He was also great explaining all the different options I could have. We had a lot of laughs and it was a comfortable atmosphere. This is my 3rd purchase from Darlings, and I will continue to come back to Darlings. There are plenty of car dealerships where I live, but I will choose Darlings time and time again. Alan and Dan were great to work with, I would recommend my family and friends to work with them.

The employees were great and were there within minutes of driving on the lot. Having lost my beloved 2007 Honda Civic in a car accident I needed to find another car. I visited many dealerships, drove lots of cars, and spent many hours on-line searching. I hadn't planned on visiting Darlings Ford, but decided to stop in for a quick look at the end of a long week of car shopping. The staff was friendly and after asking me some questions about what I was looking for in a car my sales associate (Roger) suggested that I might try out a Ford Focus (there happened to be a certified used 2012 Focus sitting out front). I took it for a ride (actually 2 rides) and was pleasantly surprised by the quality of this vehicle -this is a fun car to drive! I received a fair price (including a set of new tires) and the car was delivered to me that same evening (on New Years Eve). This was a big purchase for me and I didn't feel pressured or pushed by the salesperson. Roger was helpful and gave personal input on his own experiences with the Focus. From my initial experiences I'm very happy doing business with Darlings and look forward to maintaining my Focus with their service staff. They may have made a long-term customer!

John in service was very respectful and concerned about my needs. Even though the service bay was under construction, my service experience was extremely satisfactory. While I was waiting, love having coffee/tea available, Liz(?) not sure of her name, came into the waiting room with a helper to install a cell phone service station where you could recharge your cell phone battery. I was delighted because my battery was low and need to contact my husband, however, I have an older cell phone and none of the chargers fit. So Liz went to my car in service, retrieved my charger designed to fit the cigarette lighter, and brought a portable charger from service that did have a cigarette lighter outlet. SUCCESS! My phone was charged before John told me that my c-max was ready. It took me a while before I was ready to sign the service papers, but John did not make me feel hurried. He was very helpful and cheerful. Thank You John and Liz(?).

I brought my 2009 Jetta Sportswagen in for its 80,00 mile check, which was exactly as stated and expected. Additionally I had been experiencing a recurring problem with my air conditioner. I explained my problem to the the service manger, who is always great, about the air conditioner not always producing cooled air, sometimes it did, but at all times after a while it did not, and this had been going on for a couple of months. I waited to have it addressed until I needed the 80,00 mile check to save a 90 mile round trip. The technician checked the temperature at the vent outlets and reported it was cooling just fine, but said he would road test it to see if there was a problem, which he later reported it did not duplicate the problem for him, so there isn't anything wrong. I knew there was, so during the following week I used our digital oven thermometer by the cooling vent; what I found was that at first it cooled to as low as 53 degrees, but after about 20 minutes, the air conditioner was producing vent temperatures as high as 67 degrees, but never lower than 63 degrees.. It was 77 to 79 degrees on the last test, yesterday, September 26th. Up until this summer, the air conditioner worked just fine. I wish the technician would taken the time and would have truly checked the problem as I explained, which was after a period of time, but now I have another trip. We have another 2009 Jetta, so we know exactly how the AC works.

I purchased a new 2012 Ford Mustang from Darling's Ford in Bangor Maine. I've never had such a pleasant experience at a dealership before. My salesman Jerry was polite, informative, and extremely accommodating. I found my car a month prior to purchase. Due to uncontrollable circumstances I needed to wait to finalize the sale. Jerry went out of his way to hold the vehicle until I was ready for it. We kept in contact while I was waiting and never once did he make me feel as though I was going to lose the vehicle or was pushed to complete the sale. There was a scratch in the front bumper that had been touched up. He had his shop paint the whole bumper to look as good as new. I don't have one single complaint and Jerry has earned Darling's a lifetime customer.

I had a dying older car and visited the Ford/VW dealership. It was shortly before closing time, but Fred discussed car financing and other unfamiliar issues with me (it was my first time truly financing a car or spending more than 3 grand for one). The new models were a little out of my price range, and there were only a few used ones there. So Fred took me across the street to Darling's Honda dealership and took me on 2 test drives. He explained some features, helped me get an affordable loan, took the car to get washed, and stuck around to finish the whole process. (Two other guys in the Honda office helped with this process, too, but, unfortunately, I don't remember their names.) We didn't finish until about 9:15pm, long after the official closing time. Fred later found the spare key for me, and he even ordered a manual for me. The man really went the extra mile.

I came in to Darlings today to trade in my Jeep and get into a new vehicle. I knew right away when I was considering trading in where to go and who to see. Rick Souther helped my best friend get financed after a long and troubling process. He handled it with all the dedication and compassion I have ever seen from an employee. Where I was dealing with troublesome circumstances as well, I knew Rick would be the one to be dedicated enough to see me thru this process and not stop until I got what I needed. He welcomed me with a warm smile and remembered me from months ago. What a good feeling that was. He took into account exactly what I was looking for and searched for the perfect and safe "gem" for me. We ran into troubles with my negative equity from my trade, and it seemed impossible to get an affordable payment. Rick never gave up on me, he exhausted all options until he found a way to get me in a vehicle that was right for me and that I could afford. We landed on a lease with a 2014 Ford Escape which was more than I could have ever asked for. It was in my budget, and a brand new beautiful and safe suv, just what I wanted. It's not every day that you can find a salesman who truly wants the best for you and can be honest about everything from start to finish. He understood exactly what I was thinking and always listened to my concerns and never turned me away. Whenever we reached a roadblock he busted it down and found a way. Someone like this deserves to be recognized. I would suggest Rick to any family member or friend when they are in need of a vehicle. It feels like family when you are at Darlings. I brought my children with me, and a 4 hour car buying process isn't easy for a 2 and 4 year old, but no one got frustrated, they made my children smile, which made me as well. They took the time to get them balloons and say hello to them. Meant the world to me. And Rick always let them play with everything on his desk with a smile on his face. I will forever come back to Darlings for my vehicle needs because I know that I will always get quality service with a smile. I couldn't ask for any more than that.

To whom it may concern,We recently purchased a Ford C-Max hybrid/Energi from Darling, Bangor. Let me back up to explain why. A few weeks ago my wife and I went to fill up my truck and there was a car next to us that we have never seen before. The couple were nice enough to explain that the car was a Ford C-Max hybrid and they absolutely loved it, averaged over 47 MPG and got it to 77 MPG on occasion. They color was Ice Storm. They said if you take a test drive you will but it.So last week after much research on the vehicle, we drove to Bangor from Pembroke, Me (20 minutes from Eastport) in our Subaru Outback. We arrived arrived 9:30 AM and looked around the lot and didn't see any. So we went into the showroom and was met by a smiling Jerry Erbes, Sales Consultant. We sat and chatted about what we wanted to see and then proceeded to look at the C-Max's in the lot. There were a few of them and my wife saw the Ice Storm color one and Jerry proceeded to explain all of the features, including that this model was the Energi plug in. Jerry went on to show us all of the features (I was pretty amazed with his knowledge of this vehicle since this car has only been out for a couple of years). He said lets take a drive and we did. When we sat in it we were amazed by the amount of room up front and the smooth ride. As we were driving, Jerry was explaining all of the bells and whistles of the electronics which blew me away.We came back and started the negotiations. They looked at our Subaru as a trade in and and as we waited for the numbers, Jerry furthered educated us on the different features and of course emphasized the gas mileage we would be getting, averaged over 45 MPG and we could get up to 88 MPG! When the paperwork came back Jerry said it would cost us $570 per month for 54 months with our trade in and we said that we couldn't afford that amount since I retired 4 years ago. So he came back with a better plan, a lease. Nancy and I had explored leasing but couldn't be sold since there are a lot of negatives on leasing vice buying. After he explained all of the number, the bottom line was that the monthly payment would be $100 less that we were paying for the Subaru. I said write it up. He introduced us the Gary in Finance and he furthered our admiration of the people we had met at Darlings. Extremely knowledgeable about the vehicle since he has the hybrid model, we left his office with a great contract for three years, a bumper to bumper warranty including the tires and also received a card for 24 hour road assistance. What a deal.Were they a few negatives? Of course, not with Jerry but with Ford. Spending $35K for a vehicle you would think that the passenger seat would be electric but it isn't. I was also disappointed that this car didn't have the navigation system that I wanted. But overall, it is everything we wanted. We said goodbye to Jerry after ringing the horn (great touch as all the folks applauded!!) and thanked him for everything at 5:30 PM to drive back home. Normally one way to Bangor costs us $18-$25 in gas. When we got home we spent $9.00!!The next day I called Jerry to thank him for all of this help and asked him if there was an after market way to install the navigation system. He said he would explore it and get back to me. He called and said there wasn't but if we had a Smart phone and synced it with "Sync" we would get all of the capabilities of the system except the map. We tried it and it worked well.Overall I was very impressed with the total experience. Buying a car is not on my top 10 things in my bucket list but I have to tell you, Jerry changed that for me, going out of his way to explain everything to us in plain English.I applaud your agency in general and Jerry Erbes in particular for making Darling Motors our go to dealership.By the way we are averaging over 52 MPG driving around 600 miles to date. We had a breakdown with our Ford F250 diesel on our way to our home in CT because my dad was very ill and hospitalized. Danielle was so gracious and generous with her time. She stayed past her quitting time and arranged for a tech, Joe to stay also. Im writing this, my first ever review about our experience buying our new car. We were helped by Fred Maddocks, and I'm so happy we were, he helped us have our absolute best experience buying a car. He was amazing, funny, polite, and out of his way helpful. He was willing to get into the trunk of our new car to show us how big the trunk was and all the trunk space we would have. Fred really went out of his way to get us into the car, when we showed up we weren't really sure if we would be able to get the car, but to our delight and surprise, and of course Fred's help we drove home in our new car! My husband and I were talking and one thing that we were blown away with was the fact that Fred took the time to show us the service department, and make our first 5,000 mile appointment with us. He then showed us the new parts department where my daughter and I picked out matching VW hats and also picked out 2 VW key chains. My husband and I have never been able to do that before and we certainly have never been given a tour. I would just like to say hands down Fred Maddocks is the best salesman i have ever encountered, and you are very lucky to have him be part of your sales team, don't ever let him get away

In this day and age when so many of my customer service experiences are lackluster at best and often times worse, my recent visit to Darling's Ford VW Audi Service was great. I was greeted by service reps with smiling faces and warm personalities. They actually listened as I described, using my non technical terms, the symptoms of the problem. I had agreed to leave the vehicle for the day when I originally set up the appointment so Ryan told me they would check it out and give me a call later in the day.I received a phone call a couple of hours later telling me they were able to duplicate the problem I described and would proceed to diagnose the cause.It was determined that the clutch had failed but rather than just tell me that, they researched the issue to help me understand the cause of the failure. They could just have easily told me it failed and how much it would cost to fix it.It was expensive to fix the clutch problem but Ryan and Seldon took it upon themselves to keep the cost as low as possible, something they did not have to do and other service centers I have used would not have done this for me.The service was completed quickly and I now have a vehicle with a clutch that performs as it did when new. And since my state inspection was due I also received a free vehicle inspection, something they do for their customers. My sincere thanks to Ryan, Seldon and John for making this service visit pleasant, friendly and professional. If you need service and don't know where to go to find people you can trust, I would highly recommend Darling's Service Department.

Before visiting this location I had spent several thousand dollars on a TPS code/service light that was never resolved, and I felt like I knew more about the issue than the places I brought it to. When I brought my truck into Darlings in Bangor, Maine I explained the error code and history in detail with my representative, and he promptly brought out the mechanic that would be working on it and had me explain everything in detail to him as well. It was a tricky problem that had stumped several other mechanics, and cost me a lot of money and aggravation. My mechanic was able to fix the issue quickly, and recommended a few other repairs. I was aware of each of the recommended repairs, but I had not mentioned them previously so I knew they were being honest with me. Since my first visit I have brought my truck in twice more, once for an extended warranty repair which required a lot of time and effort from my representative and mechanic, and another visit for some more basic maintenence. I've dealt with the same representative and mechanic with each visit, and they have treated me fairly and honestly. They contacted when they said they would, answered all of my questions, and did what was right even if it wasn't the easiest thing for themselves or the dealership. They are the only place I will bring my vehicle for maintenence now, if possible, and I will most likely purchase my next vehicle there as well.

Buying a new vehicle can be a very stressful time at best BUT I must say Rick Ham made it a very enlightening stress free time. There was no time during the buying process where I thought we were "haggling" but rather we both shared our pricing logic and met in the middle. The deal was done but Darlings wasn't done with me as Rick made sure I was knowledgeable about the systems/warranties/service vehicles for my new truck so that I can maximize the utility it affords me - or some might say maximize the return on the investment. This wasn't about buying a Ford - it was buying a vehicle from Rick as I knew when I left it would be a "right size" for me. I don't just buy things / I invest in a relationship develop trust and then have no fears about acquiring - this is my third new vehicle purchase from Rick. BTW I did offer Rick my shirt but he said it wasn't needed! (:-)

So, to start off I am a 22 year old girl who is new to the state of Maine. I have decent credit but little to no credit history. This made it seem impossible to get a loan. I had an old beat up Ford Explorer and when I first moved here it broke down shortly after. I tried for weeks to get financing and i had thought I had exhausted all options, until i walked into this dealership. I was instantly greeted by many smiling faces and was directed to rick. We sat down together and I explained my situation and that I was losing hope. He convinced me he was going to try his best to get me into a vehicle that was not only safe but something i could afford on a young, waitress salary. When I mentioned my situation, having to wait typically outside my job in a dark empty parking lot of a truck stop late at night waiting for whom ever i could get a ride from that night he showed immediate concern and unbelievable compassion, He went straight to work. Again, assuring me I shouldn't give up and neither was he. Rick worked with me for two days one of which he spent time outside in the pouring rain looking for a right fit for me. He showed much dedication through this process when i could have easily been turned away, like i was at 3 dealership's before this. we tried many different types of vehicles and many different financing options and even though we kept meeting resistance from multiple banks he didn't quit. He along with the financing department found a bank who finally showed interest in giving me a chance and he found the prefect car he knew i would be happy with for them to want to finance. He successfully was able to get me financing. Going into the financial specialists office I met Dan. I was intimidated because this was my first ever car buying experience and i was sure he was going to use terms i didn't understand and i was going to have to sign not knowing what I'm signing for. This couldn't have been farther from the truth. Much like Rick, Dan Treated me with the utmost respect and patience. Breaking down every last detail and making sure i knew exactly what every bit of that paperwork was. Along with doing the typical paper work, Rick and Dan went above and beyond giving me great financial advice on how to save, budget and set myself up for a successful credit future. Finally it was time for Rick to pass me my new keys, The new car i was offered was a standard stick shift which i did not know how to drive. Rick AGAIN went above and beyond to give me a quick lesson on how to drive it and he gave the the extra confidence i needed to know i made the right decision and to know i could learn in no time. Overall this was an outstanding experience I will NEVER forget buying my first "new" car. These people are the most honest and hard working employees in the field. I was treated like family and i left with a smile on my face. this is more than i could have ever asked for walking into a car buying process.

First of all the service writer went out of his way to make sure that everything was done properly and in a timely manner. Not only on my 350 Ford truck which I did purchase from Darling's and it is a diesel and Kevin made sure that the right people worked on it but also I have a new MKS Lincoln which I did not purchase from Darling's but Kevin informed me that I can take my car there as well for service and warranty work. He also went above and beyond to inform me that there was a update on the heating system in the car which was taken care of in a timely manner. End of winter frost heaves broke the windshield's seal on my F150. The water leak damaged/destroyed two electronic boxes. The truck had ground gremlins our local skilled mechanic couldn't identify.Ryan Wilson and the mechanics at Darling's found the problem, fixed it and dealt well with the insurance end of things. The work was completed at a reasonable cost.

I purchased a new VW Jetta 2 weeks ago. I was having trouble trying to get the aux feature to work so I could play music off of my ipod. I called the service dept and spoke to Mr. Kennard, who asked me to bring the vehicle in to the dealership service area. When I offered to make an appointment, he suggested that he look at it to see if it was a quick fix. Within minutes, he assisted me in finding the instructions and showed me how to do it myself. I am somewhat "technically challenged", so I really appreciated his taking the time to help me. I also would like to note that service to other customers was not adversely affected. My experience with Darling's Ford was definitely first-rate! Salesperson Jacob Kane was awesome! He was professional, helpful and friendly. He did a great job of selling all the benefits and features of the Ford Focus, was great with explaining things and answered all the questions I had throughout the process. Even though I had never purchased through a dealership before and don't have much knowledge with cars in general :), he explained everything so that I felt very comfortable and at ease with the choice I was making. First of all, I have a 2010 Taurus which had a problem. Kevin was very helpful in explaining just what was wrong, and, how it could be fixed. During this time, I spoke to Rich Smith about buying vs leasing a new vehicle. He answered all my questions, had me try out several vehicles and in general made the decision to lease a 2014 Edge very easy. I had three people ask me if I needed help. No aversion of the eyes as in other places, to avoid helping you. Who ever saw me, smiled at me. The entire interaction was courteous and respectful. I also like how they inspected everything and reported to me impending problems. When my car had to stay overnight, I quickly received a free rental. When I went back to pick my vehicle up, it was warmed up for me!

We saw a nearly new 2013 Focus ST for sale on their lot and decided to trade in our older vehicle for it. Everyone worked hard to get our business and make for a very pleasant buying experience. I saw a pre-owned 2009 Subaru Outback at this dealer on the internet. I called the dealership and I spoke to a sales representative, Judson Curtis.Before I drove 180 miles (roundrtip) I asked specific questions which he answered before I made th drive.His description of the car was very accurate and he had the car detailed and a new inspection sticker before I arrived. The car was exactly as he described.Once we agreed on a price we shook hands and I paid for the car. The finance manager, Amy, was also very helpful and polite and she offered me a tire & rim warranty which I also purchased.I sold Porsches for almost 20 years in Florida and this dealership was awesome!Paul HouseholderP.S. We just purchased our third Audi from Rick Hamm, salesperson "extraordinaire" at Darling's. The car almost sells itself, but having a real professional guide you through the actual purchase process is a real help. Rick has demonstrated a low-key, but very knowledgeable and friendly approach to selling a car. We have appreciated his style and his "being there" for us even after the sale. He, and the great service department at Darling's are what keep us going back. Darling's is a customer-service oriented business. They are friendly and helpful at all times.
