Dennis Harjer did a fantastic job when I bought my new 2017 Escape, he found the model and options that I wanted in another dealership and drove it to Grand Haven, the process took a few weeks but it was worth it, love the car. Dennis is the greatest, would work with him again and would recommend him to anyone. This was the second new car I have purchased from Ford, love the service and the staff, not sure I would go back to a GM product again.

Just completed the purchase of another new Edge. Went into the dealership not really expecting to purchase as our Edge was only 3 years old. However, we were able to purchase a new Edge and actually lowered our monthly payment. Taylor Henkel walked us through the process of crunching the numbers and when it was apparent they were coming out favorably, he walked us through the process of deciding what features we wanted. He was patient, helpful and respectful. We've purchased Fords from this dealership since the mid-70's, long before Preferred took over the dealership. They have continued the personal, courteous service we experienced when the Redeker family owned the business. Speaking of service, we have had great experiences with the Service Department through the years. Don Blackmer has been our "service doctor" for quite a few years now. He is knowledgeable, listens to what we have to say and makes us feel that he has our best interest in mind when dealing with us.

I worked with Chris on the trade in of my vehicle and the purchase of a used Chrysler Town and Country. We both knew going into the deal the the Town and Country needed a new left read wheel bearing. The dealership agreed to replace the bearing at no cost to me. While being repaired, it was discovered by the mechanic that there were two other issues with the car. I had already purchased the vehicle but the dealer fixed the other two issues at no cost to me. I really appreciated the Sales Manager, Dave, standing behind the car his staff sold me and making sure that the car was in perfect running order and that I was totally satisfied. I have read horror stories of people buying a used car only to discover mechanical problems later and being "hung out to dry" by the dealer from whom the car was purchased. Not so at Preferred; they stood behind their product without any hesitation. I would recommend the Preferred dealerships in Muskegon and Grand Haven. This was my second used car purchase at Preferred Ford in Grand Haven. It is a nice place to do business!

Recently purchased a used 2012 Ford Fusion from this dealership, and overall was very happy. We dealt with Chris Smethwick, and I would highly recommend him and this dealership. He was very upfront and helpful, and made the whole process very easy and straightforward. His continued eagerness to be of help has been a bonus; you don't often get that kind of service after the transaction has been completed. The only complaint out of the whole process was the about the detailing of the car. We were a little disappointed in the condition of the car when we received it. Generally speaking it was clean, and looked nice at quick glance, but there were several spots that were overlooked, including gunk along a few radio buttons, a residue on the radio/clock display, and hair and food between the seat and the console -- pretty small stuff in the scheme of things, but also things that I thought could have easily been taken care of if the detailer had been more thorough. All that being said, I still would definitely recommend this place and Chris, and would go back again for the our next car purchase. It's still a great place to buy a used car! I would just make sure to double check stuff like the detailing before I drive away next time.

This past summer I decided to look for a new car. I wanted a Focus Hatchback with manual transmission. Everywhere I went around the GR area basically told me good luck finding something like that, and that there aren't many around, and would try and sell me on some other "deal" in their lot. When I came to Preferred Ford in Grand Haven, they did the exact opposite. I told them what I wanted and they got it for me. Taylor Henkel was my sales person and he was awesome. He went through all the databases they had and found me my car and had it on the lot the next day for me. He was very informative and and always answered all of my questions in a way that I could understand, without all the sales hype. He even stops by to chat while I'm waiting for my oil change, just to make sure all is well! I also want to mention that the financing guy (I'm sorry I can't remember his name) is REALLY helpful! He wants to make sure you know what you are getting into financially , and he never makes you sign anything you don't understand. It was my first time leasing and he made sure I knew what everything meant before I signed. Thanks so much! Highly recommended!

I went to Preferred Ford this Spring and spoke with "Alex" - a very delightful, friendly, sincere young man. He continued to follow up with me as I'm a "Ford Truck" lover. I finally made it back to the dealership to look at the vast array of trucks they had on their lot. It was hard to pick from the volume of inventory they had, but Alex helped me out with his knowledge and assisted me in picking out the best truck for my needs. We were on a road trip to Muskegon, MI, for my husband's work when we broke down. We were in Coopersville and unfamiliar with the area. We called Ford and they sent a tow truck to take us to the nearest Ford dealer which turned out to be Preferred Ford in Grand Haven , MI. We pulled in late on a Monday and was greeted by Ron in the service department. In less than a half hour they had diagnosed the problem! Since it was late we knew it wouldn't be fixed until the next day. Ron was great! He went over above as a service employee. He set us up with a loaner vehicle, told us of a great motel to stay at, talked about local restuarants, and most of all to check out the beach and lighthouse! Ford can certainly be proud of this dealer and their service department and employees! Great job!

We decided to visit this dealer after we saw their commercial advertising a "trade in and trade up" promotion. We looked at a few different vehicles - an F150, a Ford Escape and a Buick Encore. The financing process was no less than spectacular! Excellent service from all the staff, we were given the Blue Bucket tour and they were super welcoming even though we chose the Buick :) we plan to return for some protective treatments to the car, and take advantage of their $14.95 oil changes! I just traded in my 1998 Mercury Tracer wagon for a 2010 Ford Focus, and I'm very happy with the deal. Taylor is a very friendly and helpful sales associate, and he put in good deal of effort to make sure my insurance company didn't drag their feet with the information that they needed to fax to the dealership. The car was very clean inside and out when the purchase was finalized, and while I would have liked to drive off with a little more gas in the tank, I'm still very satisfied with the overall experience.

This was my first experience with Preferred Ford, but my second car lease with the assistance of David Ramos. My husband and I were out window shopping for a truck in general, looking at what was out there. At one point my husband asked me. "Shall we go north or south." My reply was, "South, it is warmer that way." So, south we went...along the way, deciding to pull into Preferred Ford of Grand Haven and look around there. We were then assisted by David Ramos, who took the time to go over various options with us, for the purchase of a truck my husband had been wanting for a while. I was reluctant at first to approach this dealership after I noticed a truck on the lot that fit my wish list. My reluctancy was due to experiences of larger dealerships in the past. But after my initial contact with Dave Ramos the past became exactly that....the past. This was a very comfortable, zero pressure transaction that occurred after even meeting MY price offer. I took the vehicle as is with no other commitments from Preferred but that was not the end. I inquired about the cost of removing a small dent in the door and the answer was.."the dent guy is actually here....I will just have him remove it next".....really!!!! now that is how to create a reputation in customer service. Still not done......after 1 day of driving the vehicle I notice the satellite radio antenna was inoperative, so I made contact with Dave Ramos who relayed my concerns to the General Sales Manager David Ramos. His reply?..."We will take care of it", and they did. This experience of buying a vehicle has been the best to date. I commend Preferred Ford on living up to their motto "Customer Service". Not only do they talk the talk.......but they walk the walk! Thanks to all for treating this one individual with the respect and dignity as if I was the only customer.

negatives: 1. asked for "spoiler delete" when ordering with salesman. car came with spoiler! 2.high pressure to purchase dealer extras ie: rust proofing etc. even after saying NO! 3. heard life story and wealth of finance person. could care less, just wanted paper work done! 4. salesman programed garage door opener which didn't work and we ended up getting specialist to make it work. salesman said bring bill in and they would take care of it. gm made a big deal of it saying it was in owners manual that some openers required special service. bill was a whopping $37.50. finally said yes after I requested bill back saying " forget it". really classy! they did give me paint clear coat treatment to compensate for spoiler mess up. if I ever buy another car from preferred I will read what they actually submit as an order.

Just traded in my 2011 F250 and upgraded to a 2015 F350. Worked with Dave Ramos. Great experience he found the truck I was looking for and Preferred had it delivered in 24 hours. The whole buying experience was quick and efficient. No non-sense. Got a great deal and a great trade-in price. Preferred is even taking care of removing the cow-catcher grill off my old truck and installing it on the new truck. I live in a north suburb of Chicago, had been looking for a Nissan 350Z for over a month, and couldn't find a single car which matched what I was looking for. I was just about to give up when I saw a car on Cars.com for sale by Preferred Ford in Grand Haven, Michigan. I was a bit reluctant to buy a car from a dealer more than 200 miles from me. However, Prefered Ford was ranked 4.9 out of 5, and I could return the car within 3 days of sale for a full refund, both of which were exceptional. I called the dealership and was fortunate to talk with Jason Holland. Jason answered all my questions, and was very helpful. We agreed upon a price, and it was time for a road trip. I went to Preferred Ford several days later. I met with Jason, who walked me through the sales process. I then spoke with Jeff about financing, and he got me an excellent rate and an extended warranty, the cost of which was rolled into my loan. I left Preferred Ford with a perfect car for me which was even better than I hoped for, an excellent price, and a very pleasant buying experience. As I drove away, there was 1 thing I didn't understand -- why was Preferred Ford rated 4.9 instead of 5+.

Went in to look at trucks and was helped immediatly. I was able to go inside and find the trucks with different options that I wanted before going outside and test driving them. The salesman I had was very honest and worked to get me a truck that had all the options I wanted even though it was not on their lot. The finance manager is a nice guy who explains the different options you have for warranties and insurance without pressuring you into purchasing anything. I walked out with a nice new truck without having to be pressured into doing anything, which makes me far more inclined to visit this dealership first for my future car needs.

Working with Preferred Ford was so easy for me. They worked with me so much more than I even thought dealerships would. I live about an hour and a half from the dealership, and they drove the car I was interested in down to me the same day I called on it, and let me keep it for a couple of days, no strings attached. It was awesome! The buying process was quick and easy, and they even fixed a part for me for free and drove it back to me. I would definitely buy a car from there again! The reason I'm only giving facilities 3 stars is because when I was there they were in the middle of renovations.

I was able to get my Mustang in to have my snow tires removed and my street tires put back on with only one day's notice. Service was on-time as usual. By the way, I searched around for snow tires last fall since I drive from Grand Haven to Grand Rapids everyday for work, and their prices were by far the lowest around even compared to the discount places.

I had the 90,000 mile check up performed by Preferred Ford in Grand Haven, MI. In addition to an oil change and filter I had a tune up along with a needed radiator flush. It was discovered both belts had wear and cracks beginning to show. Both belts were replaced. I had the tires rotated and asked about wear. I was told not to worry because the tread was still sufficient. I was very satisfied with the work and could tell from driving the performance was improved. The technicians have always been honest with me and they don't perform any work that isn't required at the time. I have always felt confident working with Don Blackmer who is one of the service managers. We enjoy the Taurus X and hope to put many more miles on it.

I planned well in advance for replacing our Ford Escape and stopped into Preferred Ford in June of 2013 explaining that in the first quarter of 2014 I would be ready to replace our vehicle. Mike St. Cyr helped us that evening by explaining some options for me to consider. True to my word, I got back in touch months later, and luckily Mike had put me into the system and remembered that I had been in during the summer. We discussed a few cars that I was interested in that Preferred had in their inventory, and Mike helped me think through the options and narrow it down to one. I really appreciated the opportunity to be able to have my mechanic look it over. To be thorough, I did compare it against two other similar cars from other dealerships. What really set the car apart from Preferred was the pedigree of the car. They knew exactly who had owned it, and had a good sense of how it was cared for, because the previous owner was also a customer of Preferred and had just gotten a new car from them. Once you compare a car like this against a used car with an unknown history, you realize the value of a car with a good pedigree and staff who dealt personally with the previous owner. My choice became clear, and the Preferred staff helped make it happen. I am grateful to the manager Dave who was very kind, Mike St Cyr, whose low-key approach was refreshing compared to other dealerships high pressure approach, and also to Jeff, the Finance Manager who took the time so that I could check my numbers against his. Thanks also to Cherie, for the additional assistance she provided, along with the welcoming attitude of the rest of the Preferred staff. I am very happy with the beautiful nearly new car that I just purchased from Preferred, knowing that it will be money well spent and is the perfect car for us. Many thanks to Preferred Ford for ending up with a car that I love.

I took my car in for a 30K mile service appointment, but mistakingly called the wrong dealership to set up that appointment which was about an hour away instead of this one which was much closer. These guys took me on the spot, and called the other dealership for me to correct the error. I had a cover on the engine leaking and they notified me of that, which will be taken care of under warranty. Excellent customer service. These people appear to actually want to help you, where the dealership that is in my hometown is always a hassle over everything.

I just recently bought a 2008 Ford escape from this dealership. I have bought a car in the past from them. Then customer service was great. Now too say the least it has gown down since then. During the car buying process I felt like a burden. I also had to call them several times to get the process going. I then brought the vehicle to them to fix a thump in the rear end. I brought it back to them three different times and it still isn't fixed! Never again will I bring a vehicle in for service or purchase a vehicle again from them! These experiences are just the tip of the iceberg!

I use Preferred Ford to service my Mustang and Escape. They always find a way to fit me in, and service is done right, on time, and with a smile and any extra helpful suggestions. I'll keep bringing my cars to Preferred.

Was looking for a vehicle for my son. something around $3000. Test drove a vehicle. decided to buy it a couple days later. purchased vehicle and left dealership. got a few miles down the road and returned to dealership. something was seriously wrong/different from when i test drove it. vibrated enough to knock out fillings from teeth. they took it in and found a couple parts were bad. promised to make it right and they did.

I have brought my vehicle to Preferred Ford's service center a few times and I can say that their service is top-notch. Employees are responsive and courteous. The quality of work is usually as good as getting it from the factory. And even if they do make a mistake, they correct it and go the extra mile just to keep your business. Their reception area and even their workshop is kept very clean. Work is generally done in a very timely manner and at a competitive price. It has everything from oil changes, to tires, to parts. I rarely go anywhere else simply because all of my needs are filled there. Good work, guys.

We purchased an 09 car from them. Not being a mechanic me and the wife relied on the Ford dealership for all safety inspections and mechanical inspections, a mistake. We drove the car home with a bad sway arm link, and two front tires with threads showing,(only noticeable if one was to crawl under the car). They fixed the sway arm link, but tefused to do anything about the tires, now we are stuck buying $650.00 tires,,,17-235-55's. They went as far as saying those weren't the tires we bought it with, even though i have pictures of it the day we bought it in the lot. Needless to say, I'M NEVER GOING BACK THERE AGAIN.
