I had a great experience with South Street Auto Sales in June. I waited to write the review because I wanted to drive around in my new car to make sure everything was good :) Steve was very straight forward and easy going. Not pushy at all, which was very much appreciated. I came in with my information, and we were able to come to an agreeable price and an agreeable trade in value. South Street took care of some service items I wasn't expecting, and one item that came up a couple weeks after I left the lot. Very solid people that stand behind what they're selling. I didn't finance with South Street, so that may have skewed my view, but these guys have been around for a while and everything was very relaxed and business as usual. Thanks for all the help Steve!

I bought a great car at a very fair price. The staff were great to work with and it was as painless as buying a used car can be!

Cars are mostly above value. When pointed out the car was overdue for a timing belt change and 2 newer of the same model at other lots with timing chains were listed for 2500 less Steve was not willing to budge on the price. Don't shop here. Found another similar Forester in Maryland for 2k less. You are unlikely to have 4k in MD inspection repairs. He's a good salesman. Doesn't mean he's looking out for you. Btw the Virginia dealer has offered for 225 to take the car to a MD inspection station presale! Hell of a lot cheaper than the 2500 upcharge at South Street

Sale person was extremely disrespectful. He told us that things were done to the car when clearly they were not. And when we confronted him about obvious problems he gave us an attitude. We were really buy but not from them. Do no buy from them owned said he can get more than he's asking at an auction. So why doesn't he just take all his cars to auction. Sounds like a lying full of it guy.

Prior to yesterday, if anyone were to ask me for a used dealership recommendation, I would have pointed them to South Street Auto. However, after the level of service we received yesterday that has absolutely changed. My wife and I have both been in the market to upgrade our vehicles (including a Mercedes sedan that we purchased from South Street a couple years back), and were excited to see the Mercedes GLE, which was recently added to the lot (my wife has been looking for an Evoque, but this was a great alternative). We arrived about 30 minutes before close and just wanted to inquire about pricing and scheduling a test drive (I purchased an Infiniti truck earlier in the week and the dealership(s) that I had been in contact with require appointments due to COVID). Upon arrival the owner came out and greeted us, we told him of our interest, and his first response is “that’s a big money car, would you be financing or paying cash?” I ignored the “big money comment” and responded that we would finance and trading in the Mercedes sedan (which he sold to us two years ago), but told him we could have a more in depth conversation about purchasing after we were able to test drive and determine if we liked it. We then inquired about a Range Rover that didn’t have any pricing Information. He then doubles down on it being another “big money car” and whether it’s affordable. 🤔🤔. I let him know that we have a firm understanding on what we can afford and just wanted to SCHEDULE A TEST DRIVE. His response, “I am not trying to discourage you but we just don’t want people coming in to take joy rides.” My father drives a 2018 Rang Rover Supercharge, I drive an infinit truck and my wife drives a Mercedes sedan ( WHICH HE REMEMBERS SELLING TO US)- we don’t need South Street Auto for joy rides. I could detail how discriminatory and unprofessional this is but I’m sure it will just be met with “I am sorry for your experience” 🙄. But South Street can keep any apologies and I’ll direct any “big money” car purchases and “joy rides” to CarMax, who provided phenomenal customer service without any presumptive, discriminatory prospecting. I am updating this to address the owners response: I stand corrected in that my interaction was with Eric, not the owner. Nonetheless, Eric’s response below is an indication that there is either a lack of understanding or accountability. At no point in our interaction did I or my wife become defensive, if anything we were taken aback by your lack of customer service, which you obviously don’t recognize. I am more than clear of the need to assess customers; my wife is a seasoned financial sales professional who prospects clients for a living to understand their financial standing, but there is a way to do so without being presumptive, and frankly discriminatory. My offense did not come from you trying to prospect, it came from your “big money” commentary that your failed to address, in addition to you questioning whether the car would be affordable to us before even having an understanding of our financial situation (I am positive that these are not questions and manner that you ask to everyone coming in to purchase vehicles, and if it is, that’s unfortunate). You did not ask our budget, you suggested that the cars we inquired about were not affordable, and if you are unable to understand why that is problematic, I will leave that to your employer to hopefully explain. Even in the vetting process as a salesperson- you are not a factor in determining affordability; that’s why banks and credit agencies are involved in the process. Nonetheless, we found and purchased our Evoque, hopefully you all have found a “viable” , “big money” customer for your GLE. All the best

Was at this dealership and was with my mom, I was going to be buying a truck! already had a check in hand and had looked at the two trucks I liked on line and went by on sunday to look for myself. It was Wed 7-23-14, around 12pm, it was a HOT summer day but we cant pick what days we have avail to shop! My mom and I walked around looking the ones I liked (for about 10mins) no one came up to us, my mom walked across the parking lot into the sales building. She had to walk up to someone's desk and asked them about one of the trucks out in the lot she wanted to see and test drive, he printed her out a info page about the truck and keys he said here is the info on the truck, the keys, if you like it come back in. She was kind of shocked that he wouldn't even look at her or even get up to show her the truck or talk about it. she asked what is the bottom line you would take for this truck? he said nothing less then $500, she said not $1000 less? he said No you would/are just be wasting my time". My mom was so shocked she set the keys down and said NO you are wasting my time now!! she walked out. He didn't even try to stop her, it was as if he could care less about selling a truck! I would not go to this place, to be treated like that was uncalled for. Plus we sent and email online to their web site and still have not heard one word from them!! I will buy my truck from some one who will take the time to show they care...Any REAL car sales man/woman want to sell me a truck??! I hope its not because we were woman looking to buy a truck!! because that is just not right. they have no customer service, don't care about making a sale. I have never seen a place like this before!!

Never again!

Purchased a diesel truck recently from this dealership. The title had the incorrect fuel type which did not allow me to register vehicle. They corrected the issue quickly by sending a correction letter to the DMV(I had to make two trips to DMV). I was promised a call to keep me posted on the progress. I didn't receive a call. When I followed up with the dealer, the person I spoke with was less than cordial. Another issue with the vehicle was the drivers door lock didn't work when I purchased vehicle. My mechanic repaired lock(required a new lock). I then contacted the dealer about this issue, emailed invoice and waited to hear back. After several calls, the owner returned my call and immediately became aggressive towards me about the cost of the lock and repair. When I asked if he would help cover the cost, he said 'absolutely not' I should have come back to the shop for the repair. The dealership is 1 1/2 hours from me and needless to say, they missed the problem before the sold me the vehicle. I would not recommend this dealership!

Dealership was easy to find. Employees were very nice and great to deal with. Salesman seemed to have a lot of experience in the car selling/buying business. Some dealerships will try and rip you off, I had no such experience here at South Street Auto Sales. Owner of the dealership stepped in on my purchase to make sure all was going well. I bought a brand new 2013 Mitsubishi Evo with under 200 miles on it. Walked out saving a lot of money. I recommend this dealership to anyone. Nice antique cars to look at when waiting around. I did have to wait a decent amount of time because the finance manager was busy with other customers. No problem for me with the deal I walked away with.

I was shopping for a very specific Corvette convertible and found a 2006 available at South Street Autos. Since I am from central New Jersey and was facing a 3 hour 25 minute drive to Maryland(according to Mapquest), each way, I called hoping to get some information about the car that was not listed on the website. Wayne was extremely helpful and courteous on the phone, answering all my questions. Most cars look great on the internet and then you get there and it's not what you expected or hoped for. Wayne and John were totally upfront and honest about the car. They were very understanding of how far away I was and were kind enough to pre-negotiate the price on the phone (most dealers would not do this) and provide me with an "out the door" price so that all I had to do was make the drive there and hope it was everything they said it was. Well, I made the trip and it was as beautiful in person as it looked online and was EXACTLY as they had described it. Because we worked out a price that was fair to everyone and the car was what I was "sold" on the phone, I bought the car on the spot and am thrilled with my purchase and the quality of the car. I would definitely make the 6-7 hour round trip again to buy a car from them, it was well worth it! Thank you for your honesty and fairness!

E-mailed on a Monday to set up a test drive for a 11 year old Corvette for Saturday. Was told to call back on Friday to make sure the car was still available. During the call the salesman started yelling to someone about the car and came back on to inform me that there has been a lot of activity on this car and someone was in the dealership yesterday working on a deal. We agreed that unless I heard back that I would be out in the morning to take a test drive. What the salesman did not know was that I visited the dealership on Sunday when they were closed and saw the car inside the showroom. So when I showed up on Saturday to find the car still in the exact same place in the showroom I knew the song and dance on the phone was a dishonest ploy to apply pressure. This was further confirmed when I opened the door to the car and the mileage was 7,909, the exact same mileage listed on the web site a week earlier. Clearly the car had not been test driven by the so-called prospective buyer mentioned on the phone. We were told that since it rained the night before that we could only take the car out if we agreed on a deal. My wife mentioned that we looked at another Corvette the weekend before and the car did not start at another dealer and we would only consider a deal after driving the car to which the salesman, in a very condescending manner stated, "ma'am, the car will start". At this point there were three salesman standing around us and their only concern was that the car was very clean and taking it out after a rain would require cleaning it again. My wife then said that we have a check in our pocket and your not going to let us drive the car so it won't get dirty? The three agreed that yes, they didn't want it to get dirty so we walked out. If you're in the market for a vehicle I suggest purchasing from another dealership, this place had no interest in working with a prospective buyer that would be paying cash and set up an appointment 6 days in advance and kept the appointment. Take your money and your business elsewhere.

I went there to take a look at a 2008 Challenger SRT8. It was drizzling a little. The salesman really didn't want me to take the car out because it was raining... cause ya know "its a muscle car". He didn't think I could drive it because it was raining. Let me mention to you now that I'm a woman. I just wanted to take it out around the block real quick to see if the ride was smooth. I asked for the window sticker information. He couldn't find it. I gave him my email so he could send it to me and guess what. I never heard from him again. I told him I was serious and would be buying within the week. I've been looking at Challengers for several weeks now. I've had several salesman keep in touch with me and eager to answer my questions. Needless to say. Two days after test driving this car (which I was very partial to and just needed to see the information on it) I purchased a 2013 RT. This place was more interested in the QFC they had for lunch than to sell me a car. I hope its not because I'm a woman and was looking at a "muscle car"... I'm hoping they are just really lazy!

I don't trust used car salesmen or dealers. I believe their general reputation for hype and dishonesty is well deserved. My experience with South Street Auto was remarkable not only because it contrasted with nearly every other used car dealer I have visited over many years. It was absolutely positive. This is a professional operation. Here are the details in brief. I went there on a Saturday to look at a 2004 Volvo, which was advertised at a price $2000 below book value. The test drive was good, and the car seemed to be exactly as they advertised. They said their mechanic had checked it out thoroughly. But I wanted my Volvo mechanic to inspect it. They were very accommodating. We agreed that I would tentatively buy the car, and they would wait to put through the paperwork until they heard from me by the end of the day on Monday. On Monday my mechanic found three items of concern: a noise in the alternator that sounded as if it were near the breaking point, a leak in the power steering reservoir, and a crack in the seating for one shock absorber. South Street Auto was surprised by the finding, but readily acknowledged that these were meaningful concerns. I proposed a compromise: they would replace the alternator, and I would repair the other two problems at my mechanic. Within an hour the salesman had the owner's approval for this compromise. They replaced the alternator with a new one the next day while I waited there. Bottom line: South Street Auto is a company with honest, decent salespeople who treat you with respect, and who are willing to admit a mistake and to help in correcting it. The car is terrific, and was a great value even with the $450 in repairs, and the experience buying there was first rate. Let me note that I am a real buyer, I am not a relative or friend of anyone at South Street Autos, and they did not ask me to write this review (and don't know I am writing it).

Easy to deal with and out of the dealership within 30 minutes after agreeing on a price. Salesman did not apply high pressure sales tactics. I would recomend them to other buyers

The Dodge Durango purchased is a very nice vehicle. However, one of the two remote door openers (clicker) was broken. Replace the battery but still dead on arrival. The Cost to repair (replace) was $250. Not covered under 1000 mile power train warranty. Now after 2000 miles the check engine light came on.
