Great place to get a car. It was fast and easy. I enjoyed the over all experience. Update: place forces you to say good things by incentivizing you. And threatens to take away perks if you don’t. This was my first car buying experience at the time. I know better now they are better then others but they could still work on being more authentic and upfront. So 2 stars for some of those tactics. Maybe a bit harsh but I just don’t like that you handled some parts of the experience.

Strong's service department is still excellent! Even when things don't go quite right they work really hard to make things work out. They have always been very fair with me. Their service reps and technician have gone the extra mile to help my wife and I understand the problems, solutions, and likely outcomes of different courses of actions. My family is on our third vehicle through Strong. The service department is the primary reason we decided to purchase from Strong Volkswagen initially and a major factor in why we keep coming back. Even when we are just poking around the showroom while waiting for services to be completed, their sales team is always welcoming, friendly, and unobtrusive. Volkswagen products are comfortable, fun to drive, quality products. I leave each time knowing that I have a great partner to help me keep my vehicle in top shape throughout its useful life.

CANNOT GIVE SIMPLE INFORMATION IN A STRAIGHTFORWARD MANNER. Here is what happened: My husband and I have been trying to better understand their lifetime warranty asked different sales people and were told different things. We asked to see in writing in a copy of the warranty contract here is what we were told: "I don't remember the name of the warranty company;" gave a phone number to call but the operator at the other end told us that they were just a servicing company that services all dealers and did not know which contract the dealership offered; "we don't share our contracts;" "I'll send you an attachment" and the salesman never sent it. Are you honestly telling us that as the sales manager you don't know key pieces of information that nearly everyone comes into the dealership needs that NO ONE can preview your contracts prior to signing them? HERE IS THE VARYING INFORMATION THAT DIFFERENT SALESPEOPLE TOLD US: ---All maintenance must be done at their dealership VS. only doing oil changes to get the Lifetime warranty ---The warranty covers every major component VS. Some stuff is covered and some isn't (vague, but that was what we were told) ---"I don't know who the warranty company is through", "here's a number you can call to get your questions answered about the warranty" only to find out the servicer doesn't even recognize the dealership ---A certain vehicle qualifies for their lifetime warranty then later to have them tell us that the vehicle DOESN'T actually qualify ---That their dealership will price-match vehicles and when we tried to submit valid ads from competing dealerships with clean titles, exact year, make, model, and similar mileage to be told that they won’t price-match on used vehicles (which is NOT what their website stated) CAN YOU SEE WHY WE HAD QUESTIONS? Being told different contradicting information without seeing the written terms and having vague answers is NOT very comforting or reassuring. Living about 40 miles away, we wanted to know exactly what they were offering, but they refused and just told us to come in anyway. Why would we want to come in when different salespeople told us conflicting information and they refused to share what their policies were, or their policies would change when we followed what we were told or followed on simple pamphlets. All the website says is ‘contact dealer for details’ and when we tried to contact the dealer, we are given vague and conflicting answers. HERE ARE SOME THINGS WE FOUND OUT READING OTHER REVIEWS ABOUT THEIR EXPERIENCE (this information is based on other reviews and may not be 100% accurate, but since the dealership is refusing to provide written terms of their lifetime warranty and store policies, we cannot rule these things out): ---They will require oil changes at about $100 per oil change, generally two to five times per year ---The Lifetime Warranty requires you to give a good review on Google (this may taint the rating on Google and other review sites) ---The Lifetime Warranty requires you to finance the vehicle with their lenders ---The Lifetime Warranty may or may not require ALL services done at their dealership (who knows, the terms of service are not provided) ---They often try to pressure you into service that you don't need ---They don't answer questions (this one we will agree with) At first we were really excited to find a dealership that supposedly had so many good reviews and offered a good review (along with price matching). However, with such vagueness and refusal to answer basic questions, we decided that actually trying to purchase a vehicle from this dealership or trying to file a claim would likely result in similar service where we would get a big run around and just waste our time, effort, and ultimately money. STOP TRYING TO BE ELUSIVE AND ACTUALLY SERVE THE CUSTOMER BY PROVIDING ACCURATE INFORMATION

Very friendly and knowledgeable sales and parts staff made informed buying easy. After a month of shopping around and test driving different makes and models, we found just what we were looking for in a new Tiguan. David Keith was great to work with, and a real breath of fresh air after being virtually ignored at some other dealerships. I highly recommend Strong's. ________________________________________________ Followup - just had scheduled service (oil change and inspections). All went quickly and smoothly. It was a pleasant experience.

We originally purchased an older Acadia. The vehicle looked like it was in great condition. Later found out later it had a few VERY EXPENSIVE problems with it. We brought it back and Michelle our sales person and the used car sales manager was amazing they helped us get into a newer car with warranty with no problems. Michelle Sianava is an amazing person. She’s honest,smart and, very charismatic 😉 when we’re ready for a different vehicle we will definitely be back to see her! LOVE WORKING WITH HER!!!!

We spent over a week emailing back and forth with there internet sales manager Matt. We filled out the online credit app. And received an email approval. We provided all info including trade info to Matt and set up and appointment for Sat Nov 12. When we arrived we couldn't get anyone to help us for about 30 minutes, Finally Matt came out and handed us keys to a car we were not even interested in and said go test drive it, there all the same. After the test drive we found the Passat that we wanted. then it was 4 different salesman and the sales manager dealing with us. Then suddenly they didn't have all my credit info. Then they didn't have my trade info. then the car advertised for 16,900 was suddenly 22,900 we drove 90 miles on good faith, only to leave disgusted and totally wasting our time, I wouldn't recommend this dealership to anyone who wants an honest dealership that actually provides what they advertise, We will definitely go thru a different dealership,

The facilities are currently not awesome because they are doing a renovation, so it's probably about a 2-3 currently, with potential to be a 5. I have had multiple terrible experiences with staff at Strong VW, from purchasing to service. I have heard similar comments from people I've met who have also gone there with their VWs. I had written them off, but went this time out of desperation and because of location. They took me right in, were quick and courteous, and all went well. I haven't had to go back to get fixes fixed again, either. So maybe they've gotten enough bad reviews to have actually improved, or maybe I got lucky. I'd try them again for service or parts.

Eric has been great to work with. I was invited to come in and see the current inventory and went home in a newer 2016 Jetta. Financing was very helpful in finding a lender and offered me some great advise on how to further improve my credit. My only critical feedback is that when the car was "cleaned" it was done very shoddily. After the test drive I noticed that there were crumbled cookies in the back seat so Eric had it taken for a final cleaning. While the bigger mess was cleaned, there were crumbs scattered all over the back seat still. I think they were a little rushed and didn't pay attention to detail there.

Salesman Mujo did a great job without the pressure of an actual "salesman." Mujo listened to what I was looking for and came up with the perfect car. I feel like it is difficult to find someone that will actually listen to you and meet your needs. At other dealerships I feel pressured and I walked away because my needs and wants were not met. Mujo was able to answer all my questions with great knowledge. Mujo and VW Southtowne were very quick on finding what I was looking for, getting the paperwork done and letting me leave as a very happy customer. Thank you to Mujo and VW Southtowne!

I have a 2002 VW Passat wagon which I love. I had an oil leak and transmission hose leak. Brian Edwards helped us with repairs. Customer service was great. Repairs were done in a timely manner and we trusted his advice on getting my trusty vehicle in good shape again. We moved to SLC last year and haven't needed any repairs until now. We will return. Dealership is under remodeling at current time.

Everyone is always very nice at Strong Volkswagen. Since I'm not a mechanic, I don't really know how to rate the quality of repair, but I think they got the job done and hopefully the problem is solved for a very long time! The facilities are under construction so hard to rate it.

Even though they are under construction, they were able to change my oil and do routine checks on my car ... Fast and efficient and my car was cleaned when I returned to pick it up! I arrived first thing in the morning to hopefully receive service early and wait for completion. This worked out perfectly. James Wolfe greeted me immediately at business opening and provided me with necessary questions and direction. I waited approximately one and one half hours during which James Wpolfe provided me with progress update at least twice. I was able to address the balance of my day without delay. We were looking at the possibility of buying a new VW. Because Cars.com allows us to search many vehicles that are new and within a specific radius of miles, Salt Lake City dealers were included in our search and produced results.I inquired with Strong VW and Matt responded -- both by telephone and email. He was able to quickly ascertain my needs and wants in a car and help me to locate relevant stock within their inventory. He also extended a warm invitation to come buy from this dealership.While we eventually went with a local dealer instead, my interactions with Strong VW by phone and email were positive and built my confidence in their ability to deliver. If the location presents itself in the future, we will be influenced by our present, positive interaction with this dealership.

DID NOT PURCHASE FROM THEM. WOULD HAVE PAID MORE BUT ONLINE RESPONSES BECAME PERSONAL, IE, "I" WILL NOT TAKE ANYTHING LOWER THAN THIS PRICE. BOUGHT THE SAME CAR FOR $4,000 LESS WITH 4000 MILES ON IT, 8000 MILES LESS THAN THE SAME "RARE" MODEL. WROTE DEALER OWNER AN EMAIL. NO RESPONSE. DID NOT MIND NOT GETTING THE CAR BUT THINK THAT BECAUSE I WAS NOT LOCAL THEY TREATED ME DIFFERENTLY. BUY THE WAY, WHEN LAST LISTED THE CAR HAD COME DOWN TO A GAND OVER WHAT I PAID FOR THE CAR I PURCHASED.

My car was in for service this week and everything was done to minimize the inconvenience of not having my car for a day. Brian Edwards was the Service Rep that was assigned to my case and he made sure all the details were taken care of and more importantly communicated to me in a timely manner. James Wolfe. I Left my Touareg at 6am for a service. At 0730 James Wolfe called me and left me a very polite messsage. I called back and spoke to James who explained the issue. He was POLITE, DIDNT RUSH ME and sounded very sincere and caring and listened to my concerns. This surprised me so much because I have never received service like that from the other guys working there. I received fake smiles and bothered attitudes. I fully expected to be treated like I was asking Wolfe for a 100$ loan instead of a customer who paid 60k for a vehicle. I was so surprised with Wolfes attitude I WILL NEVER LET ANYONE DEAL WITH ME AGAIN EXCEPT WOLFE. I really mean this review and I wish him great luck with his career. Beware of Strong VW because they have customer service issues but understand that there are some caring people who want to provide good service like Wolfe. I really think Wolfe has a sincere attitude. Im pleasantly surprised and will be back.

Very personable, great sense of humor, demonstrated empathy for my situation and worked quickly and efficiently to get the work completed. My wife and I were traveling through SLC during a recent move and had a coolant hose start leaking, so we called Strong. Despite it being the very end of the day on fourth of July weekend, they got us in immediately. Javier Alcantar-Garcia got a technician to stay late to replace the hose. Service was incredibly fast, allowing us to keep our course instead of losing a travel day. Javier was very empathetic to our situation and clearly cares about the concerns and needs of his customers. If we lived in SLC, we would go to Strong for all our car care needs!

Refused to honor the advertised price. Said things on the phone that they wouldn't honor in person. Dishonest sales tactics. Charging $455 for plugging a computer in and hitting enter (pulse brakes) is a scam. Give me the choice or advertise that you put that fake option on. No trade in somehow changes the price of the car an extra $1,000? It didn't on my Toyota.

From the time I made my phone call to Strong's Service Center until I picked up my Jetta after service completion the concern, care, customer support, superb communication keeping me appraised, etc. that I received from Robert Shinall & the technician who worked on my car far exceeds 'excellent'. Because of my experience I've had in the past I drive 45 mins out of my way to Strong's VW vs the local VW dealership service center in my area. The drive is well worth my time. James Wolfe was very professional. Before I went I called to see if I needed an appointment and was told no. When I got there I was told it would be a 1-2 hour wait. He offered to call when my car was done but when I told him I live in Ogden and would just wait at the dealership. He was able to get me in and out within 30 mins!! I was very thankful!

I found a nail in the right rear tire. I knew the tire was under warranty so I drove it to Strong's VW for service. They worked me into their service schedule and fixed the problem. The nail had not penetrated the inner core of the tire. It was a short nail and didn't damage the tire. They were quick and courteous. Another good service experience. Eric Gustavson and Chip Bryson were great and who ever pulled the nail.

I recently had my 2012 CC in for its 50,000 mile service. When I was picking it back up, my wife went browsing the new car lot and picked out a new 2016 Passat for herself. I have since returned a few times to have tint installed and pick up the license plates. Both the Sales team and the Service team are incredible. I may never purchase another vehicle from anywhere else. The Sales are low pressure - focusing on what I needed and the Service team is top notch. Chip Bryson in the Service department always greets me with a smile, and remembers my name. He even remembers how happy my wife was when she was picking out her new car, and asks about her when I stop by. He also is extremely helpful and makes sure that I get whatever I need when I am there. That level of personalization really doesn't exist very many places anymore and was extremely pleasant to find.

I walked in with my wife to find her a new car this last week. We weren't hounded by anyone while there. We actually had to go find a salesman after a few minutes. This was very refreshing. Andy Carr was very knowledgeable and friendly. He answered our questions and happily took us for a test drive just before close. His enthusiasm for the brand is contagious. He showed us a 2016 Golf and we were blown away at how fun and nice the car was. Over the next day, Andy and I spoke over the phone and were able to make a deal happen. He met my payment and was straight forward with everything and I felt like I got a great deal. I kept thinking I was going to get there and have a gotcha moment. We made a deal and got the paperwork all started the night before because I had to work late. The next day we arrived and had all the paperwork signed in under 15 minutes! Everything was how I expected it to be. Andy was up front about all fees and everything was how I expected it to be heading to financing. Andy took the time to show us how to setup our car and even brought out a rag and cleaner to get rid of some smudges that were left on the showroom model we purchased after detail missed them. I loved every part of this purchase experience. Night and day from Southtowne's garbage we put up with last time.

Have a leased 2013 Jetta, every year the check engine light comes on and i have to wait for it to be repaired. There's nothing wrong with the car, the check engine light just needs to be turned off. The code is n80,if you have a code reader. Today had the earliest appt (7:30). Service manager told me there were no available 'borrow' cars. Sat down for a long wait and the gentleman 30 minutes later was given a 'borrowed' car. Then I was told the reason my check engine light comes on is that I only drive my car 10,000 miles per year. That is what i leased the car for, if I use more miles than that I will be charged for them at the end of the lease. So almost 3 hours later I got my car back. Really? I do not recommend this dealer and they do not treat their customers well.

I brought my VW Bug into Strong's because an indicator light regarding the exhaust system came on. Brian Edwards was the service representative who I dealt with. Anyone who has to take their vehicle in for service at Strong's I highly recommend talking to Brian. He is very knowledgeable, courteous, and bends over backwards to meet your needs. He makes you feel like you are the most important customer they have, and he will do anything to help you. When it was apparent that they would have to keep my car overnight, Brian offered to pick me up from work and take me to the dealership to pick up a loaner car. And when I picked up my car the next day, I was surprised to see that it had been washed. It was so nice to pick up a clean car! There aren't many dealerships that offer this kind of customer service. Since purchasing my car from Strong's in 2006, there have been several times that Brian has helped me, and I have always come away from the experience feeling the same -- like I'm important to them and my business matters.

Brought my car in for a oil change and they put the oil filter on incorrectly or wrong anyway all the oil in my car leaked out with in hours and they say its fine I'm not sure but I've talked to people they said it can seem fine but it did harm to the engine nothing I can do about it I guess they didnt even refund me my costs for the service I also had them change a headlight bulb and they either didn't put the cover back on or did it so carelessly it fell off.

Besides maintaining my Touareg with regular services, I realize "things happen" to a vehicle which need to get repaired. Recently, I needed to replace my driver side seat's heating element. I left my car overnight and Chip Byrson, one of the service managers, went out of his way to call me to reconfirm the needed repair.Chip oversaw the repair from beginning to end. What makes the difference whether ii's a service or a repair visit is the attitude of the people assisting you. Pretty awful. I walked in and just stood there right in the middle of the showroom for 15 minutes without being approached. Once I finally was, before I could get a single sentence out another sales rep came up and stood less than a foot away, ignoring me to address the first sales rep. Was incredibly rude.I finally was put with David where I provided my info. I was told the only person there that could run credit was busy and to email over some documents and check the next day. Despite multiple attempts to reach David, I have simply been ignored.I no longer have interest in buying from them. They've lost my sale. There are numerous other dealers within walking distance of Strong. I'd recommend using one of them. Thats what I did.

I recently purchased a car from Strong VW and I was very happy with the experience. Eric Gustavson was primarily who I dealt with and he was friendly, respectful and no-pressure, which is ultimately why I chose to buy from him instead of spending the day looking at alternatives. When financing I ended up going through VW as well and while I am happy with what I ended up with some things were added that you may not necessarily need. (IE: gap coverage, charged extra for a pulse brake that the car already had installed, etc) I'm not a negotiator and I don't like having to "haggle" so I didn't bring it up. Overall I"m very happy and an additional plus is how easy they made it to get my license plates, extra key (at no cost to me) and free 45 day maintenance. The service guys, specifically James Wolfe were great and they get you in and out quickly with no fuss. Overall this place goes out of their way to make you happy and that matters!

I am very pleased by the service I received. James Wolfe was the one assigned to help me. I have a 2004 VW Passat, and only had the spare key. The dealer didn't have the original key. Because my car is a 2004, they had the electronic key in stock, and just needed to program it for me. I also ordered 2 paint pens for my car. I was told that I will get a call in 14 days when the 2 paint pens come in so I can pick them up. I have never been to Strong VW before. I appreciate everyone's help and kindness. Thank you.

I contacted the sales department to purchase a 2016 Golf R from a neighboring state on Saturday afternoon. I was initially told they'd do everything possible to accommodate me. I was working with Carlos Saturday afternoon and I made it abundantly clear that I wanted to complete the sale that day. I was offered a very competitive finance rate through Wells Fargo, but they insisted that I go through them and dealer services at Wells. Then they said their contact there wasn't available until Monday but they'd call first thing in the morning.Sensing the danger of losing the car, I asked Carlos how much of a deposit it would take to make sure this car didn't go anywhere while I was waiting on them. I put down the amount I was told and breathed a sigh of relief because I finally had the car I'd been chasing for a month now. I got a text later asking if I'd be willing to fly out to SLC on their dime on Monday morning because they don't like selling out-of-state. This was odd because I had been working with other dealers on different cars this past month and this was the first one Id heard express this reservation, but I said Id see what I could do. Unfortunately I couldnt commit to that with such short notice given I work a professional job, but that I really preferred we discuss shipping options and to FedEx me any paperwork necessary to sign for the vehicle. Carlos said OK and that we would talk on Monday.I emailed him first thing in the morning asking what was going on and reiterating the urgency here. No reply. Then I texted him asking if he had received the email and asked him to contact me, and he replied with "OK". I checked a half hour later and he said "Waiting on the manager, he's been really tied up. Typical Monday morning." I was growing frustrated because they seemed to be making it absurdly difficult to just give them money for a car.I asked for updates after lunch. No reply. I got fed up and called for the Sales Manager. I was given to Frank. I immediately asked him what the status was on this and he said "I don't know I just got in". That sounded odd (read: lie) because I could have sworn Carlos told me that he was waiting on him and that he's been "really tied up" this morning. Then he proceeded to tell me that the car sold this morning I was livid. I explained that I put a deposit down and was told that it would secure the vehicle for me while their dealership figured out financing and got back to me. I was very clear about this from the start. It didn't matter. He hung up on me after I vocalized my extreme irritation and displeasure by stating "This is fat#%ing ridiculous". He was looking for an excuse to hang up and I gave him one because I didnt realize I wasnt talking to an adult who wants to do business.I called back and left a very calm and rational voicemail for the GSM, Joe. I have yet to hear back. I will be happy to revisit the reviews I'm posting on Yelp, DealerRater, and the BBB should Joe decide to make this right and sell me the vehicle that I already put a sizable deposit down on. I have a feeling that this is not what's going to happen though.

Brian Edwards was the service manager for my last visit to Strong Volkswagen. Brian is focused on providing the bests customer service possible. I was met at the door when I drove into the dealership. We discussed the possible repairs needed to the car. Within 30 minutes Brian called with the complete list of repairs needed. Later in the day Brian called to inform me that a new battery was needed for the car and was seeking my permission to complete the repair item. Brian then called when the car was ready to be released (30 minutes heads up). As an employer I would not hesitate to hire Brian Edwards for his exceptional customer service skills. Strong VW in Salt Lake City has an excellent service department, and the Best of the Best is Brian Edwards, one of the department's Service Managers. I have been taking my 2007 Touareg V10 to Brian for years. This is a complex vehicle, and there aren't that many of them in the USA, so good service is especially important. Brian is completely knowledgeable, always helpful, and consistently provides superior results the first time. I can't say enough about his positive effect on my satisfaction both with the car and with the service.

The reason I give one star here because there is no option for zero star. Bunch of liars and manipulators!! Dont trust them!! I will definitely do not come to this dealership to purchase any cars anymore.We have purchased a used 2006 VW Jetta this week from the salesman Tony; it was totally a nightmare for us. Here I will objectively describe what happened this week. We just want to buy a used car for commuter purpose. The salesman Tony showed us a used 2006 VW Jetta, it looks good, but with few not important issues (the reversing rada and trunk). We had a test drive on the regular road, did not find any mechanical problem. Because the banks were closed, so the deal didnt finish on Saturday. So we decided to make the payment on next Monday. Tony told us he will in charge of these issues, the issues will be definitely fixed on Monday. After we went there to pay on Monday evening, Tony told us he forgot these issues even without saying sorry. So he told us he will definitely make the issues fixed on Wednesday. At that time, we thought these issues are not significant; couldnt cause safety problems. We found the car shakes seriously when braking or accelerating on the way to home. It was really scary to us. So I wrote the Email to Tony to describe the problem on the car. He just said we can fix these issues on Wednesday. So we sent the car the dealer on Wednesday morning, they told me they will the let mechanics detect the issue, but it will costs some time. After one day, Tony informed me via Email they found the problem. I replied to Tony: where the origin of the issue from? I have lots of work to do, couldnt come the dealer again and again. He just answered: Are you coming down this evening? I called him to ask are they repair two other issues, he just said no. So I came to the dealer to discuss with him on Friday morning, he said the issue from the Transmission, the total repair fee is 2000$! They only can pay 300$, I need to pay the rest. I thought this is actually not our fault; the car has the issue before we buy the car. So we refused to pay. At the same time, I suddenly found they even didnt give to me the safety inspection certificate! I asked Tony to give us the certificate, but he could not find it. After Tony discussed with his boss again and again, he said they said they can exchange with another Nissan Car, I asked Tony what should I do if the car has the same issue? He just answered I will be with you. With us?? You even didnt help us to fix these two small issues without apology, how can we trust you again. Tony asked his boss to discuss with us, his boss told us they didnt do the safety inspection for this car, only emission inspection was performed (the emission fee is 67$). How could this be happen? The dealer does not check the safety problem before they sell the car to the customer???? At the end, we decided to end this unhappy deal at that time. So we sold the car to them, with 1200$ cheaper than we bought!!They do not pay attention to the customers time and safety, what they want is the money!! I even suspect they made five stars reviews by themselves!Scam artists!! Save yourself the headache and find a dealer that won't rip you off. BE AWARE BUYERS!!

I have a 2001 Eurovan camper. This is an old vehicle and I often travel all over the country and beyond by myself. I just spent over $7,000 for a repair at a different dealership. My car was still having issues. I brought my computer to do some work while I waited. When it was determined the repair would be more extensive that initially thought, I was able to leave my entire briefcase with computer in the service manger, Justin's, office while I left. Brian Edwards, got my car in quickly and completed the repair with no issues. Car has never ran better now with 186,000 miles on it! Great service and a great dealer.

The purchasing experience was first class. We took the car for an unaccompanied test drive. Upon returning, they had a very fair trade in offer (higher than the Mini/BMW dealer offered on trading in our Mini Cooper Hardtop S on a new one) and a lower purchase price than Edmunds' fair market price. The Finance Manager was informative on extended warranties, but not pushy like all the others I have experienced. The delivery experience including explanation of features and pairing our phones was thorough and efficient. The follow up visit went quickly.

My wife took our Jetta in for a major issue with the fuel system and met with chip Bryson. I was working out of town and was a little nervous sending her to the dealer on her own but was pleasantly surprised when she got home and called me and told that she had been treated very well and was respected by chip and not treated like some uninformed women who they didn't want to be bothered by. Chip was very courteous and informative when he called me on the phone to keep me up to date on the repair and went to bat for me on a warranty issue. I would highly recommend both Chip and the mechanic who stayed late and finished my repair before it was actually promised. Thanks to both of them for the great experience that we had at strongs. My grandson,daughter and son n law just purchased a vw from your dealership everything going will they had agreed on a monthly payment and went to sign the papers and noticed the finance manager had increased the monthly payment by .99 which over the term comes to another $500. she brought this to his attention and his response was "THIS IS A GOOD BUY OR GOOD BY" What kind of a employee would make such a RUDE statement to a customer ready to purchase a car from your dealership and in front of my grandson who is a first time buyer. Thats why I gave to rating I did. This guy need job change!!!! On the other hand the salesman was VERY helpful and VERY nice and I would like to thank him for all the help he gave my grandson with this purchase.

I just bought my second VW Tiquan through Strong Motors! I love my Tiquan and chose to go back to Strong Motors because of the excellent sales and service I got with my first purchase. Although the second buy didn't go quite as smoothly - I would STILL recommend this dealership. The reason I keep going back - drive the 40 minutes for my service appointments - is because of the Service Department - more specifically Brian Edwards, who always treats me with great respect and courtesy. Brian always makes me feel important, never diminishes my concerns and always gets the problem solved. He returns my calls in a timely fashion, listens attentively to my questions and concerns and makes sure I'm comfortable if I have to wait. I'm hoping to keep this car a long time - and over the years will be happy to return to Strong for service as required.

I took my 2012 Sportwagen in for a repair to the left rear door window sweeper for noise when opening and closing it. And that was repaired in a timely manner. Now it works like new again. When I got there I surprised Robert Shinall with a extra needed repair that was a lower grill replacement. Robert and the service department went above and beyond to get the parts and replace the grill on my car. Now it is whole again. Many thanks.

I've owned my car for 4 years, I put on 40000 miles, and it was pre certified. The service department has broken different parts when they do simple oil changes or maintenance. They also inflate labor costs - I've done some price checking, and their costs are typically 10 to 20 percent higher than others. I've worked with other Volkswagen dealerships and I'm very dissatisfied with Strong

I had a good experience buying my car from Strong - the sales person was knowledgeable and facilitated the sales process. My experience with the service department over the past 4 years has been exceptionally poor. They have damaged my car while performing simple maintenance (e.g., oil changes) and recently charged me for 6.5 hrs labor when they admitted the repair only took 4 hours. The repair they performed (I really should have done a price check before) cost was 15% higher than the highest comparable bid I received. I'll take my car elsewhere for service in the future and I won't buy a Volkswagen again.

Brian Edwards in service treated me very fairly. I just moved to the state and have a lot of moving expenses racked up. My car was going to cost a lot to repair and told him my situation. He advised me,honestly, that it was not an easy job and told me what all had to be done. The parts department lady was great too when I bought the part. They were both very simpathetic to my situation and treated me fairly. I am going to attempt the project on my own and hopefully save some money that was otherwise spent. James Wolfe was my tech rep when I brought my car in for an oil change. The 2006 Passat I bought from Strong VW last year is a great car. It does however only take the more expensive synthetic oil. Oddly, Strong VW is the cheapest place around to get this done! Places like Jiffy Lube are 20% higher! The problem is the first time I brought my car into Strong, they told me it was a 2 hour wait. I found this completely UNACCEPTABLE! If they push a dealership to get your maintenance done, then they had better provide better service. I brought my car in the next week and they had it in and out within 45 minutes. Car wash included! Much better. Add an oil change technician. It doesn't take much to be better at this!

I did get a very good deal there, because they were desperate to make a sale. The salespeople I dealt with were nice and straightforward, but the sales manager and finance person were awful. The finance person attempted to sneak some warranty items on to my lease without even telling me. Luckily I had a lease calculator on my phone and caught her. They also lied about the interest rate (money factor), telling me that the rate was 1% when it was really 5%. Again, I caught them in this lie using my phone. Generally the experience reminded me of the "old days" where you deal with sleazy scammers. If you go, do your homework and bring an app (I recommend "Leasify" if you're leasing). Carlos and Derek in sales were very good and I would deal with them again, but I'm not sure I'd go to this dealership again due to the others.

**** MUST READ POST AND WARNING ABOUT SERVICE DEPT *** Last Saturday I purchased a 2015 GTI Autobahn. At the time, I also purchase two simple accessories - Mud Flaps and rear bumper plate protector. "Auto" who was my sales agent, and great to work (Matt was also fantastic at the dealership) with called on Monday and said my parts were in and to schedule a service appointment and they would install the parts while I waited. On Wednesday I called and spoke to a gentleman in the service department; he was polite, said I could wait for an hour and they'd install the simple parts and to be there at 8:00 am. All was well.... then it happened. All of us who have owned an Audi or VW (I've now owned three GTI's, a Jetta TDI and Audi A8) and used Dave Strong cringe with the idea of going into their service department. Sadly, once an animal gets abused by it's owner enough, it knows what to expect. Well, my "expectations" were met perfectly. I walked into the service desk at 8:07 am and was welcomed - if you can call it that - by Chip. He immediately acted put out that I was even there; I'm not making this stuff up. I said I had scheduled an appointment at 8:00 am, and he had said I could have the parts put on while I waited and it would take about an hour. He said to the effect, that's not true and it's an hour once the car is started and "we have a butt load of people in front of you". And this point my blood was beginning to boil but I paused and said, well, the online reviews are still true and Dave Strong service is still terrible. Chip angrily said, "not the reviews I've read". I said never mind, I'm out of here. At that point Robert Shinall, the assistant service manager, came to my rescue and calmly said, "Pat Brady, yes I scheduled the appointment". Wyatt and I were finished! I stepped over to Robert and he was exactly what you'd hope for; curious, helpful and integrity in helping to defuse the situation. He said not to worry and he'd take care of everything. I believe him. All this happened in the past 30 minutes as I write this review so my memory is fresh. To the owners of VW's, the owners of Dave Strong and the managers of Dave Strong - Wyatt is bad Karma and there is NO WAY I am the first to experience this. Do something about it! As Bill Marriott Sr. famously said, "Hire Friendly, Train Technical". You guys missed the boat on this guy. Robert on the other hand, you got it right. Thanks Robert, I appreciate you helping me today and I will always ask for you. I will refuse to work with Chip in the future and if I must, I will take my business elsewhere. If Chip was my only and first experience, I would NOT recommend this dealership for anything. But Auto, Matt and Robert were awesome.

I recent VW fuel pump recall required a return trip to Strong. The scheduled appointment called for the service to be completed in just over an hour once a tech had my car in the bay. In about 45 minutes, Donald Beers informed me that my car was ready to go - the fuel pump recall, an entire car safety check, and an exterior wash was all completed.

I bought a 2013 Impala from Strong VW. It was the lowest mileage Impala in the north west with a very competitive price. The car was like new at about half the new price. As you can see from the stars everything was good to excellent but one. The reason Quality of Work was rated at only fair is because Strong VW did not service the vehicle as they said they did. I was checking out the Impala prior to service and I felt that the engine oil was not as clean as a fresh oil change with only 300 miles on it should be. But because the Impala only had 13,800 miles on it I thought that I would just change it when I got back home. I'm from out of state. While on the way home I was getting familiar with the Impala's monitoring system and found that the oil only had 20% of it's life left. That tells me, along with the not so clean oil, that the oil was not changed. Also sometime in the car's past someone had bumped a curb with the lower right bumper guard which gave it some mild scratches but separated the inner wheel well cover. It would have been a simple thing to just reset the retainers. It looks like they washed the car and sold it to me. The Impala is still a good deal for me. Simple cosmetic fix and a oil change. I still have over 22,000 mile of manufacture warranty. But Strong did not service the vehicle as I was told. So you decide. Thanks for reading.

As much as I dislike pouring money into my car, there are times that call for an investment in service and surpassing 200K miles is one of them. Brian Edwards talked me through all the issues my car was facing and prepared me for the cost I would incur at the end. Since the maintenance and repairs would take several days, he set me up in a loaner car. In the end, my car ran like new and the bill actually ended up being a couple hundred less than expected. Now I am ready for another 200K...thanks Brian.

I had a really disappointing service experience here today. Last week I made an appointment and ordered a few parts for my car. When I came in for my appointment, the man at the service desk made me rehash everything I needed done and treated me like an idiot when I tried to describe a part I did not know the technical name of. I let him know that I'd be taking the shuttle and he told me to go wait in the waiting area. He didn't give me any more information on when the shuttle leaves, how long it would take to make the repairs on my car, or anything else. After waiting for 30 minutes, I went back to the desk and asked how often the shuttles came. He said that they came and went as the driver dropped off customers. I asked if there was any way he could check to see how far out it would be and he called the driver. After he got off the phone with the driver, he said "She's a way's out". That did not help me at all. I asked how long it would be and he said that she didn't know. I asked him where she was and he became rude and said that she didn't know, that she couldn't predict traffic, that it's hard to tell. I asked him if he thought it would be more than 15 minutes, and annoyed he said, "If it were only going to be 15 minutes, I would have said that". Again, treating me like an idiot. At that point, I called a ride and left. By the time I got to work, I was 30 minutes late. I expect a lot more respect from people in this industry. If they think it's going to be a while, I'd appreciate them letting me know. When I have questions, I think they should be happy to answer them. My family has purchased several cars from Strong Volkswagen and Audi and this is unacceptable. We'll be reaching out to a manager in the next day or so about this employee.

My wife and I purchased a new Jetta SW from this dealership. We noticed some glue from the new car wrapper still on the car and took it back to get it buffed out. Not only did they not complete the buffing job, they damaged the roof where they were working. When we went to pick the car up and called the damage to the car to their attention they replied that the car was like that when it came in (it was not). Even though they have promised to fix this car as of yet it has not happened. Management has been adversarial and insulting. Stay away from this dealership.

I contacted Strong VW regarding a car that was on their website. They were asking $3900, I offered $3200, and said that was contingent upon the car being as advertised. I received a response from a "secretary" who sent me the following email:My name is Caroline, Matt Hansen's assistant here at Strong VW. They tell so many lies they can't keep their story straight. Bait you in with what looks like a great price. Then they raise it up and delete ad. Or, if that doesn't work they say its only for a lease after you have come to terms. Or, the incentives they offer will disappear. Or, not sell you the car as advertised when they know you have cash. Make sure you print your ad and are ready for the ride of your life to save some money. Trust me when I say you will earn every penny you save by buying here. Oh, and women buyers beware. If you are a woman buyer they will continue to reference your husband, not you. I was willing to drive from Oregon to buy their car. But after so much drama decided against it.

I drove down from Idaho after reading several reviews of the service given by Strong VW. The local dealer here is renowned for being hard to work with. I had done a lot of internet homework in reaching the decision to purchase a new Passat TDI and was hoping the reviews were correct about the dealer. I visited with Matt via email to settle on a particular car; a 2013 Passat TDI SE and then followed up with a phone call to let him know I was coming down on Saturday the 14th. He and his assistant were very pleasant to talk to. When I walked into the dealership and asked for Matt Hansen, I was pleasantly surprised. I was expecting the typical car salesman. The kind that make you want to take a shower after your experience. Matt with his long hair, beard and pleasant smile was unexpected. I commented that I was already impressed due to the fact the dealership allowed him to be himself. He had the car we had talked about ready for me to look at and drive. This car was fine for me, but my wife had texted me a little wish list on my drive down. This car was not the color she wanted and was short a few of the options she wanted. I was all for saving a few thousand bucks and taking this one home. Matt was very patient and showed me a 2014 Passat TDI SEL that filled her wish list. It took me a couple hours and few phone calls to the wife to make a decision. At no time did I feel pressured by Matt. We even visited about our love of BMW motorcycles and some of the trips we each had been on. In the end I went home with the 2014 Passat and was pleased with the deal I had made and with Matt and Caroline (his assistant). It has been nearly a week since buying the car and we are very pleased with it, my wife especially so. I received a follow-up call a day ago from Caroline to see if I had any questions or concerns, that was a nice gesture.

This was the best car buying experience that have ever had! My husband and I started online looking for a fuel efficient new suv. Living in Wyoming we also needed an all wheel drive. We babe across the 2014 Tiguan TDI, and decided to look into those. After a lot of price shopping we came across Strong VW and they the best prices out there. We contacted dealership and they were very helpful, even had us pre-approved for our financing. They even offered to have the paperwork and vehicle delivered to us in Wyoming, but we wanted to drive before we bought so we took a Saturday and planned on making a day of it. When we arrived they had the vehicle for a test drive and answered my long list of questions and the many options the car had. We Loved it. Since we already approved the paperwork needed reviewed. I had a few questions and the general manager came out and answered them we signed. The delivery of the Tiguan was great the salesman answered all my questions and was very patient with me. What we thought would be an entire day of paperwork and car buying crap turned out to be two of the most informative and entertaining hours I've ever spent shopping. We will make this drive the next time we need a new and we'll recommend Strong VW to all of friends and family.

These guys have no respect for a person's time. I made an appointment with Brian Tribe to buy a car I had previously test driven. I had cash in my pocket, enough for the asking price and any additional fees, and expected to leave with the car. The car was not ready at the scheduled time or even on the lot. A short phone call from Brian Tribe or Eric Gustavson to let me know the car was not ready could have avoided this whole unfortunate situation. When I arrived at the appointed time, he did not have time for me. He was heading out for a test drive with another customer. He said is should only be another 30 minutes and suggested that I go over to the detail shop to take another look at it.I got the feeling I was not welcome in their show room do to the casual nature of my clothing( t-shirt, shorts and tennis shoes). At the detail shop, it was obvious that it was going to be hours before the car was finished. When I returned to Strong VW, no one would give me the time of day. As I walked around the lot, I overheard two salesmen lambasting another customer. The language they used was absolutely vulgar and offensive. Of course, there was an apology hours later when they called my wife even though they had my phone number. I gave them a chance to save the sale with a small price reduction do to my wasted time. I never even received a call back from these guys! A later call to talk to the general manager was laughed off and my wife was told that the GM comes and goes as she pleases so good luck getting in touch with her. Unprofessional, Disrespectful and foul mouthed are just a few of the adjectives I would use to describe the atmosphere at Strong VW. I had been a long time VW fan. This has destroyed any confidence I have in the Volkswagen name. *****The story continues. Joe, the Sales GM called about an hour after we posted this review and asked for a return call. When we called back, he tried to blame me for my bad experience. He had every excuse in the book, including "I can control what my adult employees do and say." With each excuse he stated, "I am not making excuses." (Joe, an excuse is still an excuse, even when you say it is not.) At times during the call I seemed like he was trying to bully me into changing this review. Today, he sent a private response to this review asking me to contact him, again.

I purchased a "03" Honda Civic From Strong VW in January 2013. I understood that Honda was a good reliable vehicle, and there were many positive reports about the dealer. I felt I was purchasing a car from a reputable dealer and that it would be a good used commuter vehicle. I was told that the car had been inspected and that the oil had been changed, but that I was purchasing it with no warranty. I did not quibble on the price, but paid what was asked, without having anyone else look at it. The first week, I found that the lock didn't work on the driver side, so I took it to my mechanic. He replaced the lock with an automatic system and also changed the timing belt. We then found that the Check Engine Light wouldn't turn off. Another mechanic looked at the car that weekend and showed me where parts of the vehicle were missing and that the car was essentially welded back together. He told me I should go back to the Dealer and ask them for some help with the car because it appeared that their mechanics probably knew about the problems with the engine when the inspection was done. so, when I got the car back a month later, I made it into the Dealership and explained the situation. At this time they were kind enough to help me with part of the costs of replacing the Catalytic Converter and patching the car back together (missing pieces and pieces falling off). In February, both of my headlamps burned out and the Dealer paid to have them replaced. I got the car aligned and found that one of the front end ball joints was bad. I replaced that. In April, the Check Engine Lite again reappeared. I took it to my mechanic to find that the oil was gone - we poured in 4 quarts. At the beginning of June, the car began to overheat intermittently. I took it to my mechanic and he replaced the fan assembly. This didn't fix it. Now, it appears that the A/C compressor, and front brakes need replacement. The rotors need turning and the front tires are separating. Costs so far for me for repairs are around $2000, and the needed repairs will be $1000 more. I went back to the Dealer and spoke with Frank to see if they could help me out and he was kind enough to send me to their repair mechanics. They quoted me the same price as I already had. I then called on Brad Strong to explain the situation to him. He was not willing to listen to my story, he had already gotten the story from Frank, and was very adamant that there was no more they could do. I mentioned to both he and Frank the fact that the car never should have been sold on their lot, as their mechanics should have seen the issues with the car. I have been able to drive the car about 4 of the 6 months I have had it. Brad did say they could trade it in for another car, but as far as taking it off of my hands or helping me with any more repairs - that was out of the question. On the Strong VW Dealer Website it says "At Strong VW we value our Customers and know that they are who keep our doors open. This is the reason we want to create Customers for life, not just the sale. We do this by ensuring that our Sales Staff are trained on our product, as well as how we expect them to take care of our customers thoroughly." Obviously, the sales staff did not understand how worthless this vehicle is!

He was very straight forward and clear about what I was getting. He took the time to sit with me in my new car and go over all of the programing all the way down to setting my seat so it was perfect. Ray took the time to show us several different cars and helped us pick out the right one for us. I would recommend purchasing from Strong VW, the entire process was very smooth, no high pressure sales techniques used by other dealers like Larry H Miller. Only bitter part was before signing the paperwork, the lady who offered us the warranties seemed a little bothered that we didn't select any extra service contracts. I recently purchased a 2010 Jetta Sportwagen TDI from Strong VW, and the customer service was great. I live in the Las Vegas area, and worked with Eric and Matt in the internet department by phone and email after finding the vehicle on cars.com. They took a credit card deposit and two days later I flew out to complete the purchase. They were both a pleasure to work with and the buying process was very smooth and easy. Shelly in finance was very nice too, and everyone I came in contact with during my short time at the dealership seemed authentic and friendly. Even though they are 450 miles away I will consider buying from them again in the future. They even picked up the cab fare from the airport.

I would like to give a huge SHOUT OUT to Greg Butcher. As we all know buying a car can be one of the most time consuming and stressful experiences one has to go through in life purchasing something that will cost a lot of money and have no return in the end. Greg was amazing! Out of the dozen or so times we have had to buy a car, Greg made this the only GREAT experience weve had. There was no fast talking, strong arm sales pitch trying to get us to buy a car that would put more money in his pocket. He just LISTENED to our needs and wants. ANSWERED our questions with extensive knowledge of the cars. My wife and I are in a sales role with our jobs and you have to sell, but there is nothing wrong with integrity, honesty, and morality in a sale. Even after we signed the papers he jumped in the car for 30 minutes and connected my wifes phone to the blue tooth as well as showed us how to use all of the other features that would have taken a ton of time going through the manual and do on our own. Even when I saw him a week later coming in to pay the down payment, he stopped for a minute when he was with another customer to shake my hand and ask how the car was. Im glad there are guys like Greg still out there in the automotive sales industry and he has restored my confidence in the car buying experience. Thank you Greg!!!

In my internet search to compare the BMW X5, Audi Q7, and the VW Touareg, I zeroed in on the Touareg. Several dealers responded to my inquiries. However, the email and consequent voice mail left by Eric Gustavson at Strong VW, SLC, seemed to be the most direct and conversational, not what one usually expects from a "car" salesperson. Consequently, I contacted Eric and made arrangements to test drive the Touareg Hybrid and gas models. Never have I come across a salesperson so knowledgeable about cars, low keyed, non pushy, and responsive to my driving needs. Two weeks after the initial contact, I decided to buy a Touareg tdi. The negotiating process was incredibly smooth. Eric spent almost an hour after the purchase going over all the fine points of my new car. Since the purchase he has checked in to see if he could assist me with any further questions about the car. He also emphasized that he would always be available to help me with car issues. Bottom line... I would recommend Eric Gustavson 100x over to family, friends, and strangers as the person to contact at Strong VW.

I bought a Certified Preowned Passat from this dealer. Being that the car was certified, one would think that the car met some good standards before being issued the certification of CPO.The Passat I bought from this dealer turns out to have been involved in an accident a year prior to it being offered for sale by this dealership. One of the qualifications before a vehicle is qualified for the CPO program is that it has to have a good CARFAX report. I was shown a CARFAX report that supposedly matched the car I was intending to purchase, this report I was shown did not have any indicator marks of an accident to the vehicle history. Well low and behold I come to learn after signing the finance papers and driving home with the car that this was not the case. Since this car was subjected to a 112-point inspection as the salesman had led me to believe when he provided me a brochure printed by VW corporate explaining the CPO process. I was told of the stringent and careful review each VW is subjected to after the certification technician verify the car has a good vehicle history report and meet certain basic criteria such as mileage and condition. It was explained that by choosing a CPO I was purchasing the peace of mind and expectation that the cars certified are like that of a new VW. Turns out my car after having signed the finance papers, taken it home and driven it for a couple of months, I noticed the paint on the rear passenger quarter panel at the bumper seam and tail light had begun to peel away. I looked closer and found that the paint on the rear passenger door and moulding was beginning to peel there too. I call the dealership and spoke with the manager Mike Smith who tells me that there is nothing he can do other than have his technician take a look at it because the car has been paid for. So I take the car to the dealer and they look it over and tell me that the cars body had been reworked from a previous accident and that repair of the paint would not be covered by the CPO warranty. They offered to discount repainting the body and door panel by 10% and that was it. I felt that this was not acceptable and demand they take the car back because they misrepresented the condition. They then checked the CARFAX report to find the report of an accident occurred over a year before it was offered for sale and my having purchased it, they again refused to remedy the issue. I was pretty upset with this dealer and demanded they resolve this more appropriately to which the manager Mike Smith said "You may resolve this by removing yourself from our store or I will call the police and have them resolve that for you"I left the store that day and contacted VW America who explained to me that there is nothing they can do because they do not inspect the vehicles for certification, they leave this to the dealer service center when it meets the guidelines VW America has set as a framework. The certification usually occurs after the car has been receive after the dealer has purchased it from VW's national purchase stock. VW America too was of no help in being able to resolve my having been defrauded by this stealership. Later after having the car inspected by a body shop I learned the body is not aligned, was offset by 2.50 of flex and that the quarter panel had been reworked by a body puller and the side frame to the lowest part of the rear door had been significantly compromised from side impact and now made of body filler, the tail light housing is not a genuine VW part but instead manufactured by EagleEyes and that the brake lines and rear wheel hub are from a different model Passat. On this same wheel the ABS sensor is faulty because it registers intermittently and the wiring insulation had been clipped and mended improperly leaving the sensors wiring exposed. This dealership cannot be trusted, they take no responsibility, potentially have committed fraud, behave inappropriately towards customers and do not conduct their business with good practices. My recommendation is beware of this dealership and might be best to offer your business to more reputable resellers of VW product.

I give this dealer and these sales people a two thumbs up! I've purchased two cars from Eric to date, a 2005 Jetta and a 2013 GTI. When purchasing my GTI, I also dealt with Matt. They are both awesome people to work with and you can tell that they have a passion for the product that they sell! Eric has reached out to me several times throughout the ordering process to give me status updates on my car, see if there is anything they can help out with and has gone beyond any of my expectations to make sure I've been completely satisfied with my purchase. If you are considering buying a new or used car, I'd definitely recommend dealing with Strong Volkswagen and Eric Gustavson and/or Matt Hansen. They will put you in the right car, at the right price and give you the best service available! I've even gotten my friends, family and coworkers to buy through Volkswagen and they've all given me positive input. I don't ever plan on dealing anywhere else. They are there for you before, during and after the sale as well with a friendly parts and service staff and will make sure you are completely taken care of!

We just leased two cars (a new Jetta and GTI from Strong VW in SLC and I had a great car buying experience. Eric and Matt both were extremely helpful with any questions I had as we finalized our decisions. We never felt pressured to buy anything extra. There were no hidden fees or tricks. Matt and Eric were very helpful as they took the time to go over all the features and details of the cars--inside and out with my wife and myself. When I first purchased my new car I was super excited and happy with the service I received. The sales team was fantastic and I filled out a great review for the service. However NOW I wish I could take that review back! I received my postcard letting me know that my license plates were ready to be picked up, so I stopped by on Saturday afternoon. I was in a hurry so I just took the package and signed for them. I never once opened the package I simply put it in my glove box. The following day I went to go put my new plates on and opened the package for the first time. I noticed right away that there weren't any registration stickers or registration certificate. So I called them this morning and they have been anything but helpful. The first two women I spoke with were extremely rude and blamed me for losing the stickers. The Manager I talked to was a little more empathetic however still not helpful. I am now forced to miss work and possibly school to go stand in line at the DMV and pay for replacements! They have done nothing to help me. It's a complete waste of my time for their mistake!

I just bought a new GTI from Strong VW in SLC and I had a great car buying experience. Eric was so helpful and patient with any questions I had as I finalized my decision. I felt like the whole buying process was very transparent and I was never pressured to buy anything extra. There were no hidden fees or tricks. Eric was wonderful to work with and is so knowledgeable about the cars. After I bought the car, he took the time to go over all the features and details of the car--inside and out. Very dishonest salesperson! My husband and I went to Strong VW to purchase a used Subaru ~all we needed was a commuter car that would take the kids and I from point A to point B. I made it clear to Carlos, the salesperson that was helping us that I would not make the purchase if the car had been smoked in since we have 2 small children (one being just a newborn). Carlos ASSURED us the car hadn't been smoked in. Well, when my husband went in to test drive the car he couldn't smell anything due to the strong and overwhelming smell of chemicals used to MASK the SMOKE smell. Two days later I noticed the smell and was 100% sure that car was smoked in (I found cigarette burns all over the car as well as stains). We ended up selling the car privately at a $3000 dollar LOSS (and the car cost us $7000 plus taxes and fees at the dealer). If Carlos had been honest up front and had told us the car was smoked in, we wouldn't had put ourselves and our children in danger by inhaling hundreds of different tobacco chemicals the car had. Just research third hand smoke and you'll see what I'm talking about. Anyway, we do not recommend this dealer to anyone out there looking for a clean, non-smoker car for their family since they are liars and dishonest people! What a horrible experience at Strong VW.

We were lied to, deceived and treated unprofessionally and disrepectfully. Also had the price change by $1000 for work they did over problems we found on a test drive and only after I refused to finance through Larry. He tried to get me to finace multiple times even after being told I had cash in hand and would not. He even sent us away to wait for another vehicle which never arrived. When we told Dave and Larry we wanted to sit down and work a deal and numbers on the Passat he told us to "give the Jetta the benefit of the doubt". After waiting over an hour he called and said the Jetta wasn't coming and to come back and see if we can work a deal about the Passat. Well on our way back we saw the Passat leave on a test drive with another couple...imaging that. We got back and told them we saw that and wouldn't be part of a bidding war. They assured us they don't work that way. We sat down with Dave to write an offer as we had already talked about what we would pay. Larry then came in and rudely took over, interrupting Dave. Dave suggested we had talked and just to get to the bottom price, Larry got upset and refused and told us we "had to play the game". He eventually left and returned with a proposal. We countered with our final offer $6500 out the door for the Passat they had listed at "$5495" and they wouldn't have to charge the A/C. He hesitated for over five minutes making all kinds of reasons why that wouldn't work. We told him that was final. He took the offer in and within three minutes returned and said it was too late the other couple who had been out on the test drive just bought the car. Larry then stated it was for the price we just offered. Guess what?! As we walked by them I heard them agreeing to finane through the dealership. So in MHO they unethically sold the car out from under us because we wouldn't finance...if that isn't the reason then it is just plain incompetence by Larry. Either way BEWARE of the slimeball Larry! When I went to complain I was directed to the overweight hispanic looking bearded finance manager. He looked at me as if to tell me to "F" off. Then both Larry and this fool, smirked at me and told me there was nothing that could be done and shrugged their shoulders. That's the kind of slimely business they do. Then to make matters worse....Here is the car listed today with the new belt and water pump and $1000 more on the price. Then to see just how ridiculous this dealership is and what Mr. Brian Strong really meant when he says he'd like to hear from us, I called his number and left a voice message with my number asking him to call me back and explainig what happened. Haven't heard a word from him...imagine that! Then they have the balls to call me today and tell me they wanted to see if they could still earn my business and it was unfortunate how things went down. Are you fricking kidding me??!!! By the way, if I would have been happy with them I would have bought a second car for my business from them within the next 8 to 12 months...So who really lost here?.....Strong VW did! DO NOT BUY from them. The above named are unethical and practiced decietful busniess practices and obviously have an incompetent service department to not have found the problems prior to offering the car for sale. I will look into whether that was a violation of the law on their part for putting out a vehicle that did not have the required recall issue corrected and allowing the public access to a potentially dangerous and unsafe vehicle.....Can you say Motor Vehicle Enforcement Division?? I would like to say one thing positive though. Dave our original saleman was great to deal with and was actually honest with us until he allowed Larry to run all over him and sabotage his sale. Larry needs to be kicking rocks down the road Mr. Strong! As long as he's around you will NEVER get my business. If your dealership screwed up by listing the wrong price for a broken car then take it out on your managers NOT your clientele.

After explaining that I would be moving out of state to start a new 6 figure job, I asked the salesman, who asked the sales manager and finance manager if I would be approved to buy a new/used car despite not having a start date until about a week after the deal. If no, fine, I'd wait until after my move out of state; if yes, I'd buy a car from them if we could agree. Of course, they said no problem. Sooo, I spend over 8 hours approaching everything in good faith, providing info and agreeing on a Touareg. At the last minute, the business manager tells me they can't do the deal unless I give them a sizable deposit to hold the car and then, after I start my new job I can drive 9 hours back to pick up my car. When I reject this out of hand, expressed my displeasure over the way they wasted a large amount of my time, Shad (the sales manager who told me I could trust him because he does things differently than other dealers) begged me not to leave upset and promised to call the owner, Brad Strong, to get approval. He said to give him an hour and he would make this right. Never heard from him again. Bottom line, they knew there would be a snag, but schemed that if they could get me far enough into the deal and invested in the car, they could change the game and I'd still be ok with it. They showed callous disrespect and heartless gamesmanship while counting on their powers of persuasion to sucker me into a BS deal. I wholeheartedly recommend you to distrust this group, especially Shad. In our great capitalist system, the only way to change the bad behavior of a corporation is to not do business with them, which is what I vigorously recommend.

Matt Hansen is the consumate salesperson with regards to these primary qualities. He is honest, he is transparent and his advice is without regard to his income.I reccomend him and Strongs highly and by virture of my experiences, which are many with Strongs, you will not find a better place to purchase your next vehicle.

We have purchased a few cars through Matt Hansen at Dave Strong VW over the years, mostly recently a GTI. I cannot say enough about what a difference the sales experience is with Matt as opposed to other dealerships and other salespeople we have worked with - night and day. Rather than leaving annoyed and feeling that you have to constantly be on guard for high-pressure sales tactics, Matt has always been extremely professional, knowledgeable, polite, genuine, respectful and patient. He listens to every detail of what you are looking for, works very hard to find what you need, and is a straight-shooter through the whole process. Not only that, but when we have returned to have the car serviced Matt has been very gracious with his time and has helped us find accessories and answered questions about unique features and upkeep of our car. (It is also worth nothing that Dave Strong's service department is second to none).The cars you see on Dave Strong's lot are only a small assortment of the vehicles they actually have on hand, and Matt is always up on their current inventory and gets the cars we want to drive when we show up. Matt's sales approach could be the model for other dealers. He is open, honest, fair, and no-pressure. He has gone far out of his way to make deals work out for us. Matt seems to be one of the few guys out there that gets that if you can feel great about your experience that is the best way to get repeat business. Not only have we returned to buy cars specifically from him, but we have referred friends and family to him on numerous occasions. It is nice to know you can refer a friend and have full confidence that they will have the same experience we have had. Every single person we have sent to him has been blown away by how relaxed and easy their buying experience was. If you are looking for a VW, make it easy on yourself and drop in to Dave Strong's and ask for Matt.

Matt is by far the best salesperson I've ever dealt with. He has gone far beyond what I would say any other salesperson would go. My wife and I have purchased 2 new cars from him, and when it came time to the 3rd, he continually helped me try and locate what we were looking for. Although what we ended up finding was out of state, he still gave me great information regarding my purchase from a private individual. I would say that my persistence has been overpowering at times, but not once did Matt say for me to deal with it on my own. He was patient and worked with me for several months, (almost a complete year) looking for my current car. Strong's VW on a whole is a new experience for a dealership. I have never felt so comfortable buying a car from anyone like I have from Strongs. Matt has figured out that people don't want to deal with sketchy sales people, so his approach is straight forward, and open from the start. He will do his best to get you what you want and what you want it for. So far, from my experience of buying cars from him, it's a far better deal than what you'd get at other local dealerships.

My husband and I had finally decided we needed a new car. This was our first "new" car. We had previously owned a '69 VW Bug and wanted to stay with Volkswagen. We walked into Dave Strong and were immediately greeted with smiles by Matt Hansen. We test drove quite a few Jettas and Golfs that day but were smitten with a gray Jetta 1.8 Turbo. After the test drive we knew we had to have it! Matt gave us an amazing deal on the car and we were ready to sign. We loved the idea of having it financed through VW and were thrilled with the low interest that was being offered. So far everything had been running smoothly and we were very impressed by everyone we had worked with so far. Then we hit a snag with the interest rate. We were a bit disappointed so we told Matt that we would think about it and return the next day with our answer. Within 30 minutes we received a phone call from your finance guy (wish I remembered his name) who told us that not only did he fight and win to get us the lowest interest rate possible but because of the trouble it caused he would knock $1500 off the price of the car. Need I add, WOW! Not only have we referred every person we know in need of a new car to Dave Strong VW and Matt Hansen but because of our great experience there, we will only buy our cars from that dealership.

This was my fourth new VW purchase in a row with Matt at Dave Strongs. Oddly enough, I had been attempting to put together a deal with a competitor and it was a night and day difference. The high-pressure sales tactics at the other dealer were horrible and quite frustrating. Dave Strongs made me a great deal for a great car and I learned a lesson. I will never cheat on my salesman again.

We've been a Volvo and Honda family for years, but I came across the Strong Volkswagen webpage and started talking cars with Matt Hansen, who (I believe) manages web operations for the dealership. He was very professional but also generous in the amount of time and information he was willing to offer. By the end, I felt like I was able to make an informed decision.Unfortunately, this time that meant not buying any car, at Strong or elsewhere. I leased my Touareg from Eric at Strong VW, and he made the process quick and easy. He knew more about the car than I did, which is amazing because usually salespeople know next to nothing about the product they're pitching. Every other VW dealership I visited seemed staffed by "salesman" who had read books on what to say to talk people into cars - Eric just answered my questions, showed me the features on my car, and got me a great deal! The process was straightforward, and the experience didn't feel like a "normal" car dealership at all - no line of guys outside smoking and waiting for the next customer to nail to the wall. Eric even has a ponytail! This is my third vehicle from Strong VW and I'm sure I'll be back for another as my lease expires.

This dealership has broken several oral contracts related to service issues. I was told on Monday when my car went in for service that I would be getting new brakes. When I picked up the car on Friday I did not have new brakes, but a bandaid repair job. At no time during the week was I notified of this change of action. I have been lied to regarding contacting customer representatives from the corporate offices by the dealership. I was informed that I would not be able to interact with this individual by the dealership, but corporate told me otherwise. Service people do not call back... the responsibility is put on the customer to follow-up. Several of the males in the service department are very condescending towards women; they act as if I don't have a clue about cars, as if I am not interested in my own car and I am not allowed to have an opinion related to the provided service. I have been encouraged to "give them all fives" on the corporate customer service survey, and "if I am not able to do that, I should contact the service department before taking the survey." They'll run you in circles so that you get tired and want to give up, ultimately allowing them to have taken advantage of you as a customer!
