Bill and I had a spectacular experience at Vaughn motors last week while shopping for a new Cadillac. Our salesperson was Cameo Lathrop and boy was she good. She showed us around the car pointing out all its new features and ran through the instrument panel before we took it for a test drive. She was a deciding factor in our decision to buy from Vaughn's as from another dealer. She was very well versed and model knowledgeable.

Purchased a certified used 2016 Corvette. The buying process and pricing were good. Jordan Rook was a pleasure to work with. There are two reasons for the three star rating. First, this car was advertised as a one owner vehicle but it actually had two previous owners. It was Vaughn that had already sold it as used once before. Second, and most importantly, when the service department changed the oil they underfilled the oil by more than 2 quarts! The Corvette has two different oil quantities based on Z51 or not Z51 but a Chevrolet dealer should know the difference. We are happy with the car. Jordan Took and Sheri Fane have been good to deal with. I think the ad writer was just sloppy not knowing that Vaughn had already sold it once as a used car. The service department was borderline negligent in not verifying the oil quantity after the change.

We had an appointment to look at a specific vehicle. We took off work and drove 2.5 hours. As we were pulling into the lot, we got a phone call stating that they had just sold the vehicle we were there for. They wanted us to look at other vehicles.After reading other reviews, seems to be a pattern with them; bait and switch, maybe?

I recently purchased a car for my daughter at Vaughn and it was absolutely the worst car buying experience I've ever had. As a reference, I've owned more than 20 cars in my lifetime, so the experience of purchasing a vehicle is not new to me. What was new to me, was realizing that some Dealers don't perform proper used vehicle inspections, they won't make any effort to accommodate buyers from outside their immediate area, and make claims to offer "VIP Service" and profess to be "customer oriented" and do nothing to live-up to those claims. If you want a 1980 car buying experience, and you're prepared to spend money fixing brakes or other things that should be covered with a proper vehicle inspection within 50 miles of leaving the Dealer's lot, then Vaughn Automotive is the place for you! If you'd like to have a real, customer-oriented buying experience, then stay away from this place! The gratification I felt after removing the Vaughn Automotive decal from our new, used car was significant. Cars are a commodity, as is Vaughn Automotive; find another place to spend your money.

I contacted the dealer and initially they were helpful so I sent pictures of car and Vin and asked for information and received some feedback but then nothing until I wrote and complained to the service manager. At this point I was done dealing with them if they wont answer a few questions and respond in a timely manner then I guess they don't want my business.

I was looking to upgrade my truck to a newer model. I had a 2011 Silverado in my sights. It was a nice looking truck and newer than my 2007 Silverado. I test drove it and went back to Vaughn's the next day to talk price. The salesman Curtis took my truck for a drive so we could determine trade in value. I was hoping to get around $12,000 for my truck. The Sales Manager Marcus Bennett then took it for a drive. Marcus brought me a breakdown of what the purchase agreement would look like and how it broke down financially. He then asked if I had ever considered leasing a vehicle. He showed me what the cost of a new 2016 Silverado LTZ would be and it was the same payment per month as the 2011. I also was pleased to see that he was giving me $14,000 trade in for my truck regardless of which truck I decided to take home. Needless to say, I love my new 2016 Chevy Silverado LTZ and was very pleased with my buying experience!

So in other words the most worst & horrible customer service I've ever seen and dealt with. >I would NEVER recommend anyone to come buy or even think about buying a vehicle from this place unless you are OK with being lied to, mislead and then being accused of it being your fault. >>My husband and I were highly interested in a truck that Vaughn Automotive had for sale on their website so we called the next morning and were reassured by "James" that the truck was on the lot and was indeed for sale, and that we could put a $500 deposit on the truck to hold it until we could get there on Saturday. We did not put a deposit down(thank god) because we knew we wouldn't get that money back. Then the next day "James" emailed stating that truck was sold the previous morning (this is the same morning we called and same morning that he told us it was there and was available) in his email it stated that a buyer had came the night before we called and took the truck home! So if we had put $500 down on this truck to hold it, when we had came on Saturday first it wasn't going to be there and second they were just going to help us find another truck that would suit us. I'm sorry but DON'T assume that you would have another truck that would work for us. That is for us to decide not a dealership or a salesman. What horrible customer service to not physically go outside and use your eyes and check your inventory, when you knew a gentlemen had already picked up the truck to take home the night before we even called. Then turn this situation around and blame the customer(ME) for it being our fault for talking numbers over the phone. I understand you don't need any numbers from me when I'm already authorized from my bank to pay what a want in whatever amount i choose. I was going to the dealership on Saturday with check IN HAND to pay for this truck IN FULL, whether we chose to do a trade-in or not. So in the end, "Vaughn Automotive" WILL NEVER get business from me or whoever I know. Good luck to whoever goes and deals with them, but did I warn you. This is what gives a car salesman such a bad name and now I can see why.

I recently inquired about 2 separate vehicles on 2 separate occasions, and never heard back from Vaughn either time. Honestly, what is the point of having a "contact dealer" form if you're not going to respond to customer questions? I don't mind making a drive to Ottumwa, but I'm not going to do so if I can't even have basic questions answered before investing the time and effort. With its lackadaisical customer service, this dealership is costing itself business (including mine).

I can't even imagine trying to go to another dealer after all my many cars and trucks that I have purchased from Vaughn motorsl..starting with the original owner downtown Ottumwa. My first Cadillac was a deal made with the owner and I was very shocked with the wonderful deal Mr. Vaughn gave me. The service and purchases have continued with the owner/operator now(grandson of that wonderful Mr. Vaughn)...Our salesman that we use all the time now is Bill and he is a go get it done type of salesman. We have NEVER regretted any purchase we have made with VAUGHN MOTORS,OTTUMWA IOWA

Went to another dealer and was approved and bought a car that is nicer and newer than anything vaughn automotive declined to finance me for. Would not EVER suggest them to anyone else!

Bought a 2012 Sonic off them and had it service there regularly. Had nothing but problems dealing with the service department. Every time I would go in, the mechanics would be goofing off and had to wait a great deal of time to talk with someone. Had lots of problems with the car since day one and every time the would look at it, they said they did not find anything wrong and i would continue to have the problem. Went in with a vacuum leak from the valve cover gasket while it was still under warranty. The service rep wanted to charge me the $220 to replace it and would argue with me that the warranty would cover it since it was part of the power train. The last time I was in was to purchase new tires, which a few days later they charged my credit card twice. I had to work with the lady in charge of the billing and she did not want to return MY money and treated me with disrespect. That was the last straw so I went to another dealer and they fixed the problems that Vaughns didn't want to mess with. The reason I bought my car there was my Grandfather worked there his whole life and my family has bought several vehicles off them, thought I would be treated great, guess not. Next time ill buy from someone else do to their lack of customer service.

I tried to contact this dealership via email & things were okay. I would ask questions that were never answered & then I would be pushed onto someone else. I called only to get voice mail. I was interested in purchasing a car on Friday. I called on Thursday & was bounced around from Gabbie to the financial department to Eric, and finally I asked to speak to a supervisor who only took my information down & still didn't help with a purchase. I was told I would be emailed back & never received anything. This dealership seems really shady. You call about prices & you get the run around. I would avoid this dealership at all cost.

I found Vaughn on the internet. I'd never heard of them before. I was looking at a brand new Cadillac Escalade. Clayton was very helpful in helping me figure out which packages had which options. Very nice guy, & really tried to earn my business. I ended up purchasing a "lightly used" Escalade from a different dealer to save about $15K. Vaughn didn't have any used ones, or I would've purchased from Clayton. Would like to buy a car there sometime.

I have purchased a couple of different vehicles from vaughns each time the experance was very satifisfing. IT does take awhile for all the paper work but no more than any other dealer I have delt with Tim who sold the vehicle I purchased was very thorough and business like

I just bought a used pickup from Vaughn. I love the truck and am very happy with it. I got an alright deal on it as well. However, I was looking for a vehicle and had emailed them about the vehicle. I said a certain price that I wasn't willing to pay more than. The salesman said that if I could get there that day, that the vehicle would be at that price. I live a decent distance away as well, making the trip over wasn't very easy. After I got there, the salesman who I had been in contact with said that the they could not go as low as I had previously been told. I'm a pretty young person in college and do not have a lot of money, but the salesman had known that I had a lengthy trip over there and i was pretty committed to buying the vehicle. They budged just a little on the price and I had to empty my bank account in order to pay the price since they had changed it. I will admit though that I was treated good and even though I was buying a cheaper vehicle they at least tried to make me believe my business was just as important as a person in there buying a new car. The salesman even dumped their client off in order to help me. Before they jumped the price, I was thinking I would buy my future vehicles from them. I'm a farmer and about to start a family with my wife to be in the next few years and will be buying a few cars in the near future, but after that I just don't know if I can trust them when I get there. Depending on who the person is and what they are looking for, I might still suggest them to a friend. Not a bad place, I just know I needed my hard earned money more than them, and should have just walked away and gotten the price down instead of taking their offer.

Great buying experience for our New Silverado. I searched online for what I wanted and there's was the best deal in the color and options my husband wanted. The only item they could improve on was the time to get through everything at the dealership. But it was a Saturday and they were busy, other than that it was a great experience.

Good experience, very helpful in all areas. Everyone was very curtious. They answered all questions that I asked.. Very clean. They were all very professional and knew how to explain, things that pertained to the car.

I took my equinox in for the first time for service. I like how they kept my car clean (after I dropped if off in the service drive, they covered the steering wheel and put a seat cover on the driver seat)Paperwork was handled quickly. I was greeted promptly when I came back to get my car. Everyone was very nice and they even washed my car!

I purchased a brand new vehicle in January of 2013 out of state from Vaugh Automotive. At the time, communication between the sales rep. Tim Kirkman and the finance department was acceptable for doing business out of state. However, after the purchase contract was signed there was little if no communication in response from the sales rep. or finance department. I never received finalized copies of the contract as I requested nor the window sticker (which was specifically asked to be mailed or placed in the vehicle) to date (now March 2013), The only reason this vehicle was not purchased locally in Texas was because of the value and options, however, I would not do business with this dealership again because of lack of communication following the purchase and not complying with my specific request after being told it would be done numerous times before the purchase and during the waiting time for delivery.

The buying experience was ok. Josh was very friendly. They were a little slow and left us waiting for a long period of time while not telling us what was going on. The vehicle was very clean and in good shape, although missing the front plate bracket, which they remedied within a couple days. They use the term "local one owner" rather loosely. Service Dept is horrible, don't ever take a car there for repairs.

Dealing with them prior to the sale was great, but after the sale there were some minor issues with the vehicle as delivered. I tried repeatedly to contact Josh and Kyle via e-mail and telephone, but neither one ever bothered to respond. Avoid this dealership at all costs. Revision...Approximately 3 months after the sale, the owner contacted me to resolve the issues. Follow-up service and communications have been great.
