About 2020 BMW X5 For 2020, BMW introduces a new M Performance model -- the X5 M50i -- to join the X5 lineup. A six-cylinder inline engine is under the hood of the BMW X5 xDrive40i. All engines channel their power through an eight-speed Steptronic transmission, while BMW xDrive intelligent all-wheel drive is on hand to ensure that power is translated into secure progress -- on or off road.
