Joe in service denied warranty coverage on my 2013 X3 WITHOUT EVEN SEEING THE CAR. He told me over the phone that BMW does not cover paint which is a lie. He went on to say that BMW's never have paint problems which is another lie (search on Google for yourself). Avoid Santa Barbara BMW. Try Santa Maria BMW as they are far better.

I ordered this 2012 X5 from Santa Barbara Auto Group back in February. My sales advisor is Bo Sailor. Bo was courteous, knowledgeable, and efficient throughout the ordering process. My wife and I even had a change of heart on the color about a week into the order. Bo handled this request with professionalism and ease.Bo was so wonderful at showing me how I could track the progress online of the new car. He also gave me regular updates on the status of the car being built (but didnt give me too many updates it was perfect). Now comes the amazing part. This is my 3rd X5 and 4th new BMW, and I have purchased many other cars over the years. This was hands down absolutely the BEST experience Ive ever had buying a new car. When my new X5 came in, Bo called me and let me know it was there and ready for me to pick up.When I arrived at the dealership last night, the paperwork was ready, the price was EXACTLY what we had agreed upon and the signing process took all of 10 minutes. Bo and the team at Santa Barbara Auto Group were honest, considerate, professional, and overall just terrific. This is how a car buying experience should be but it isnt always this way. This tremendous service and professionalism is rare to see this day in the car business and in business in general. I was absolutely blown away by the ease of this transaction and I am extremely grateful to Bo and his team for making this such a great process.Incidentally, the car is also amazing, we are very happy. Because of this experience (and of course the amazing car), my wife and I will continue to be loyal BMW customers for life.Bo Sailor and the Santa Barbara Auto Group team deserve recognition for their great work I can tell you this is exactly who you want representing the BMW Brand in the marketplace.

My wife and I picked up our 2012 X5 diesel from Jon Shafer (of BimmerFest fame) this past weekend. I'm a particular person and very demanding when it comes to my service providers and vendors. While going back and forth on an X5d with a local dealer, I reached out to Jon via email hoping as a well-regarded Internet sales guy that I could have a more frictionless experience than I was having. He responded promptly while he was on vacation to let me know he had a production slot available and could meet my price requirements. Every step since then, from regular updates on the status of the car, getting us the details needed for our credit union financing, to picking us up at the airport, teaching us what we needed to know about the car and taking our picture was a complete pleasure. Unless they paid us to buy the car, I don't think there's anything that could be done to have made this a better purchase experience. In contrast to recently helping my mother-in-law purchase a Honda CRV with unanswered phone calls, incomplete information and flaky sales reps, Jon was professional, knowledgeable and obviously passionate about the brand. Even if a BMW is "just a car" to you, having someone who actually knows and cares about the cars brings a level of service that can't be matched by someone just working for the commission. His enthusiasm was contagious.Who knows if our next car will be a BMW, but if it is, we'll be buying it from Jon.

I cannot say enought great things about SB Auto Group especially Joe Kaljian my longtime go to service advisor there. Sometimes my beloved X5 has a problem and I always get immediate and efficient service from Joe. The excellent service I receive from Joe and the service team there has been a huge influence on my remaining a BMW owner these past few years. I have had numerous vehicles in my long driving history and the great service I receive from Joe Kaljian at SB Auto Group is by far the best I have experienced.Angela in Santa Barbara 10-13-11

I've owned over 18 different cars during the past 30 years. Mostly Porsche, toyota, Mercedes... and as such, I've spent my time at dealers and service centers. BMW Santa Barbara stands out with exceptional communication, service and care. I was extremely pleased with how efficient they were. Tiffany, the service advisor was professional and knowledgable. I was a drop-in customer (no appointment) and she knew that I was traveling and would be waiting for my service to be complete. As such she called me whenever there was new information about my service and any potential delay. It sounds so simple, but it's so rare to get that kind of communication from a dealership. I'm so pleased that I'm going to schedule all my future work at this dealership and time my visits to Santa Barbara... and I'll probably get my next car from them as well!

My car had a broken part (outside). I brought the car in, Joe looked it over and explained what needed to be ordered, gave me a time frame for delivery and for repairing as well as an estimate. Everything happened within the time frame he set out and slightly under budget.

Robert made my service visit as painless as possible--he was informative, respectful and friendly, kept in contact regarding service decisions, and made sure I was happy with the work done. I had compared price for the job to be done, and the dealership was competitive and thorough. I really appreciated this service experience.

The Santa Barbara Auto Group has always been accommodating, helpful and upfront. Before our most recent purchase we walked their different brands and test drove several, having many brands at one location was really helpful in deciding which vehicle to select and saved a significant amount of time. The sales professionals at each brand were all very helpful and provided requested information and test drives.Jason Thompson was our leasing consultant and completed the most recent transaction. He was always available and answered all our questions, the entire process easy and simple by his attention. We will continue to use the Santa Barbara Auto Group in the future and will continue the recommend them to others.

My last visit to the Santa Barbara Auto Group, and I do mean my last visit, I came in for a routine oil change and inspection. I dropped the car off in the morning and got a ride with a friend as the service desk informed me they no longer had a shuttle service for local customers. Hmmm.... that should have been a warning that things had changed at this dealership but I ignored that nagging warning in the back of my head. That evening when I picked up the car it was already twilight so I didn't really take a good look at my car and headed home. The next morning when I was removing all the greasy paw prints along the hood and fenders with some detail spray I was shocked to see a deep two inch scratch in the drivers side door. Greasy paw prints are one thing but a deep scratch from some sharp instrument, a screwdriver or something similar, was too much. I immediately drove over and confronted the service representative. He called over the service manager and they looked at my car and then offered a free oil change at the next visit. Needless to say I declined the offer and took my car to a reputable shop and had the scratch repaired. I took a copy of the repair invoice back to the service manager ($800) and asked what he was going to do. I should have guessed what he was going to do, which was exactly nothing and now I'm looking for new place near Santa Barbara to get my car serviced. BTW my car is a pristine 1999 M3 convertible that spends most of it's life in the garage under a car cover so I know where that scratch came from...

Here is my letter to BMW Santa Barbara:When I purchased my car from Jason Thompson last April it wasn't the best deal around. Money-wise I could have purchased the same car for a better price in Camarillo. But, Jason convinced me that paying a bit more for purchasing a local car and getting service done at the dealership where the car was purchased was a good idea. I agreed and I've been happy up until today. Today (March 29th) I went in and spoke with Joe in the service department. I wanted to schedule the 4 yr 50K maintenance because it was that time and my brakes have been squeaking. I had been told by Jason that I could bring it in and have the scheduled work done on the car. With Joe I was met with a quick and rude reply telling me that a lot of people try to do this and it's not possible. I tried to tell him that I was told by my salesperson that it was possible. He shook his head and rudely said, "Not at this dealership you didn't." At this point I had given him my key, he ran it and said that nothing could be done unless the key said it could be done. OK, I understand that, but I asked if the brakes are making noise can't the brakes tell you they need to be looked at? I understand that BMW has a great system set up for maintenance, and issues with brakes are common with BMW's, but I was basically being called a liar at this point about my conversations with Jason and also that my car obviously didn't need any work because the key didn't tell him anything. Again, I understand that he sees many people each day and this is the routine, but he also must interact as an adult with people and his brash attitude made me want to leave. I took the keys off of the desk and decided to leave and speak with Jason about the situation. As I left the office Joe said, "Go find yourself another BMW dealer." This is not a joke; I am not embellishing. This is a direct quote. I have no reason to lie. After hearing this I let Joe know that he was rude, that I was not a moron nor a liar, and I asked him to apologize to which he said no, and told me the best he could was give me a brake fluid change and that he would take a look at the brakes and do the maintenance if needed (which is what should have been said in the first place and is what I expected). At that point it was too late. I will be taking Joe's advice, and as much as I liked dealing with Jason I will find another dealership not too far away for service and for my next purchase (I love my BMW; theyre great and I plan on getting another). It's as simple as that. I know this makes things easier on you. You don't have to do work on my car, you don't have to even talk with Joe (who is probably your buddy anyway and you're having a good laugh about this), and you don't have to apologize to a customer who is clearly not happy. But you will not be getting a repeat buyer and I regret that I pointed my friends your direction for buying cars.
