I went to a different dealer and waited 45 min. and no one came out to help me . I went to Charles Toyota in Norwich ct. they came out right away and everyone in there said Hi to me as they walked by and by when I left and asked if they could get me anything to drink. Very outstanding dealer ship

This dealer had a used truck that met my search criteria. After almost 20 emails back and forth with Andrew Morry, I cancelled my purchase. Andrew never could answer any of my questions without speaking with his GM, Tim Couture. My bank was trying to pay them directly and they never could get their procedures in order. We spoke with another dealer in the same state, Connecticut, and that dealer only needed 3 little things from me since the bank was handling everything. Charles Toyota was over stepping boundaries by asking for more and more info they did not need. 1 really bad dealer makes internet sales bad for all the other good dealers that can handle it and be professional. Charles Toyota does not know out of state sales so don't waste your time!

In March, My husband purchased a Toyota Tundra from Charles Toyota and it was a wonderful experience. We stopped by on Saturday afternoon really not planning on buying anything, just browsing. We had our, very active, two year old son with us so we weren't planning on being there long. My husband ended up finding a Tundra he liked and we worked with Sheldon. Not only was Sheldon a very nice guy, but he gave wonderful customer service and he went along with my husbands sense of humor which was great. What we thought was going to be a quick browsing trip turned into a 5 hour visit and purchase of a new truck for my husband. Not only did they serve us with great customer service, but everyone in Charles was wonderful with our son. After five hours we had a very active and tired two year old and they let him run around and even got him a balloon with an extra long string so he could play with it. The finance guy (I'm sorry I forgot his name :-/) was great with our son with his pretend mickey voices on my sons play phone, he absolutely loved it. We had a great experience and would definitely return here for any future purchases and send all of our friends and family to Charles. Thank you for your wonderful customers and a great overall experience. We love our purchase, and my son loves "daddy's truck" Travis and Nicole Hollis

My family and I purchased all of our cars from Charles, and they lost us for life when information given to me about a warranty turned out to be incorrect and cost me thousands of dollars. I asked about one specific problem I was worried about and told it was covered when the problem accused no one could remember telling me the false information, not to mention how hard it was to get a hold of someone about my problem and it took a week just to talk to someone. When I was buying the car of course they call you back in 5 min because they don't have your money yet. Charlies lied to me and cost me a lot of money because of that lie and for that reason I will never buy a car there again and I'm actually looking forward to driving a new car from one of there competitors over to show them hoe being cheap and saving a few thousand now with cost them so much more over my life time. They were the first place I would go for a car now I'm disgusted with them. I tell anyone I know looking for a car to stay away from them and would highly highly recommend you do the same.

this is the worst mechanic business i have ever seen . they destroyed my car. i asked for a head gasket estimate and instead the mechanic flooded my engine block and hydrolocked my motor , killing it. they pushed it out of the shop , told me it wasnt their fault and made me tow it away . when they drove it in to the shop it was running .they have the nerve to charge me 63 dollars for that and i could say alot more .

My boyfriend and i went into Charles Toyota on a recommendation from my uncle. Originally we had no intentions of purchasing a vehicle and were on a fact finding mission to see what we could and/or couldn't afford, being first time buyers with mediocre credit. Mike was patient with us and very mindful of our wants and needs in a vehicle since i am a traveling massage therapist and needed a particular set up for a vehicle. We ended up test driving and checking out a 2009 Toyota matrix with a hatch and a reasonable amount of storage space along with the storage convenience, we fell in love with it. Mike really took a caring hand in understanding our needs to find us the perfect car for the perfect price and i am comfortable with saying our vehicles in the future will definitely be purchased through him. Mike and Sean from the finance department got us in our new vehicle in a matter of hours and i would recommend anyone go see them, even if you're just looking, Mike will have a perfect match for you!

It was time to purchase a used vehicle and a trip to a dealership confronted me.I hadn't purchased a vehicle in years. I stopped by Charles Toyota to look at a 2011 Honda Ridgeline on a wet windy rainy night. I met Sheldon Watrous and we discussed my needs. I own a 19 foot proline boat and was wondering if the Honda Ridgeline could tow it. He Sheldon went over all the aspects of the vehicle and then took me me for a test drive in the pouring rain and continued to discuss the quality of a honda product. When we returned to the dealership I put a downpayment on the vehicle and have been happy ever since. Sheldon made me feel comfortable with my purchase and has followed up to ensure I have been completely satisfied. Sheldon has a great knowledge when it comes to vehicles and manufacturers and is a true asset to Charles Toyota. Thanks for helping me purchase a vehicle that fits my needs Sheldon. I went in last month to purchase a used car. I've been having a lot of trouble finding the right car for me especially with a lot of dealerships trying to constantly trying to sell me things I don't feel I need or want. However, there was a sales rep named Sheldon who was very personable and helped me through the excruciating process of finding a car. He listened to what I had to say and was patient with me through my inability to make decision. I didn't buy the car that day but when I came back later that week he remembered who I was and I closed a deal on the car I've been looking for! I couldn't have done it without this young mans help.

I've been coming to Charles Toyota to have my vehicle serviced since I moved back to the area 5 years ago. We recently bought a new Toyota 4Runner from Charles Toyota. We had such a wonderful experience from the moment we walked in to the moment we left. Dave Bernier, our salesman, is a fine young salesman who gave us perfect service all day. We told him what we were looking for and he quickly produced a new 4Runner in our price range. We took it on a test ride and we knew we would purchase it. Dave got the floor manager, Keith, who was an absolute gentleman, to address the pricing. We came to an agreeable price very quickly and bought our new 4Runner. We then spoke to Sean to address the insurances and finance. Sean was a wizard. Dave saw to it that we drove home in our new 4Runner that day. We also traded in our Highlander for which we got top dollar, thanx to Keith. I really enjoyed my purchasing experience here at Charles Toyota. I was greeted as I entered the showroom and introduced to a sales rep. Wilfredo Rodriguez was very courteous, asking me what I was looking for and explaining all the high tech electronics in the vehicle. I never was pressured, That was really nice as I entered late on a Saturday afternoon. Everything from insurance to financing and registration was handled in a timely manner. I also had my 18 year old son and they treated him with respect and answered all of his questions as well. I highly recommend purchasing a vehicle here. Toyota's speak for themselves in quality and performance, the courtesy and respect and feeling of well being were incomparable . It was very stress free.

I called the dealership to inquire about a pre owned Rav 4. Spoke with the internet sales manager Amir Sabet. He told me the car I wanted was sold earlier that day, but had a similar one that was still available and could work with me on the price. I ended up buying the same car but a year newer with less miles for the same price. Amir was very friendly and I could not have asked for better treatment.

I went to Charles Toyota in Norwich to buy a truck. That is what I wanted. I met with Sheldon Watrous and he did an awesome job of getting me what I wanted. Within a week I was driving out of the parking lot in my new (used) pickup truck. Thanks to Sheldon. He gave me a tour of the facilities and I was amazed at how clean it is kept. And all the sales people are so friendly. I am very happy with my purchase and tell all my friends to see Sheldon at Charles Toyota. They won't be sorry!

Getting my first car at Charles Toyota was great experience for me. Wilfredo Rodriguez took his time with everything an was very patient while i was getting approved. I was able to do what i needed to do throughout my day while he took care of everything for me. He gave me all the information i needed and answered every question i had without hesitation. If he didn't have an answer he would get me an answer from one of his leads an always got back to me which was something i greatly appreciated. Something i also really liked seeing at Charles Toyota was when Will would be waiting for my information he would also try to get something else out of the way. He was focused an always trying to get everything done but kept me comfortable and at the same time. Overall i had a great experience at Charles Toyota.

I came in to buy a Toyota Rav4. and thought it would be like every other time I've bought a car. This time it was completely Different The Sales Staff was great i Dealt with Sheldon. He was professional and answered all of our questions and concerns with out being pushy. my big concern was if the Rav4 was going to be to big for me seeing how I normally only used to drive Coupes and other small cars, but life brings changes and i needed a bigger Vehicle with out being to big. Sheldon let me take the Rav4 out for the afternoon to go run errands and see how it would fit in my life, and i got to say that it was the perfect car. this dealership made it so easy and has changed my view on what its like to buy a car. The staff at Charles Toyota was a pleasure to work with after we needed to replace my wife's Lexus following an accident. We originally were looking at higher mileage, used 4runners, and test drove a Rav4 as well, but ended up purchasing a certified pre-owned Highlander that will fit our growing family. We are very happy with it, especially the warranty that came with it being certified. Ray was not pushy at all, answering all of my wife's questions, and being extremely knowledgable about all of the vehicles we looked at, which is something that I greatly appreciate - too many salesmen these days care nothing about the cars they sell and all about the financing. The sales staff was extremely friendly and helpful throughout our two week search, and gave us a great deal that I didn't even have to haggle on price. Tommy was super helpful, even going so far as to check out what other dealers had to find exactly what we wanted. In the end, we went with the first Highlander we drove, and my wife loves it. Sean was very friendly and professional and explained everything about the financials and answered all of our questions. After the sale, we noticed a small problem - the driver's visor wouldnt fully flip up; Tommy told us he had already ordered a new one for us and it will be replaced at no charge. Ray even paired my wife's phone with the Highlander's bluetooth for her before we left. I have had some pretty bad customer service from other dealers in the past (both shady, used car dealers and even other Toyota dealers - I'm looking at you, Middletown Toyota for not fixing the backup mirrors on my Lexus GS less than a week after purchasing it and for not replacing my Tundra's water pump barely 100 miles over the powertrain warranty), but the level of customer service, honest and knowledgable salesmen, and ease of making a decision is the reason we expect to keep coming back to Charles Toyota for for years.

On September 2nd 2014 I visited Charles Toyota of Norwich CT to pick up a refund check (which took me 1-1/2 months to get due to issues with Toyota Financial). As I walked into the dealership I was stunned to find out that not a single salesman, or anyone for that matter, asked me if I needed anything. I wasnt dressed like a hobo or anything. Anyway, after finding the person I needed to find and going to the ATM I pulled out the check only to realize that it was made out to the wrong person. I took it back and calmly explained that I couldnt cash it because it wasnt made out to me. The lady who wrote the check apologized and I told her it was no problem, accidents happen. Shortly after this, Harold Winslow (General Manager) comes in and his first words to me are have you been in here yelling at my staff. I said no and that wed been having a pleasant conversation. His staff even backed me up and said that I had been very polite. He had a few more things to say about how he didnt need people harassing his staff and other stuff. At no point in time did he even remotely attempt to apologize for accusing me repeatedly even after his staff backed me up. After a few minutes I got my check and headed out the door. On the way out something finally asked me if they could help me, I explained to him what had just happened. He told me that Harold Winslow is a senile old man and tried to apologize on his behalf. The bottom line is this, I had a decent experience when I bought my car but after they got my money it seemed that they no longer cared about me. Most phone calls lacked critical information and most face to face interactions lacked even the remote kind of pleasantries would give a strange that holds the door for you. Im not asking for much. Ive spent a lot of money there and had the potential to spend more but I will take my business elsewhere in the future. I am encouraging all my friends to do the same. Additionally, I will be contacting Mr. Winslow personally to tell him how I feel about this but I cannot stress this enough, DO NOT GO TO CHARLES TOYOTA IN NORWICH CT!!!

Used truck broke down right away, manager would not return my phone calls. Don't buy a thing from these guys, this is no way to do business. Delivered the truck unwashed and without gas. Truck overheated and needed a new radiator and water pump, thank god I bought the extended warranty which Hartford Toyota honored. Truck still needs a water pump but that is not gonna happen. Just waiting for the next thing to break on the truck, nightmare. Buy your vehicle somewhere else, do yourself a favor.

Walked in ready to purchase a 2011 Corolla cash that week. I came in my work clothes so I could make it before dealership closed. I guess because my attire was messy, having come directly from work, I got no greeting; in fact many salespeople walked past like I wasn't there. The dealer that I did finally deal with started with a price much higher than the car's listing. After that he continued to push financing on me when I made it clear I wanted to pay cash. He never made eye contact me, and made me feel like he had something better to do. Used this dealership years ago; will not again. Got a great 2012 Honda Civic from Cardinal where they were warm and courteous.

Charles Toyota had the best price on the same vehicle and we went to 6 Toyota dealers in MA, RI. This is the best Toyota Dealership in New England by far, smaller is definitely better because they value each customer, the big dealerships are a huge mistake and I will not visit these dealerships again. I had just had my 2000 tundra serviced. as usual, Ritchie came through.he found all vibration's and shakes in my tundra. and then he erraticated them.now my truck is once again a pleasure to drive. so if there is a problem with your Toyota, just see Rorey at the service desk. he will point you in the right direction. also I would like to add, I have dealt with dealership parts departments in the past. but Charles parts guy's really bend over backwards to get you that part. and they keep parts at a reasonable rate. I did not buy my 2008 Toyota from this dealership, because the sales personnel seemed disinterested in securing the make and model that I choose. I was dissatisfied with the service of the dealer that I bought my car from, and relegated the upkeep of my car to Charles Toyota. While the quality of your work is excellent, I feel that I am constantly pressured to authorize unneeded repairs, and on every one of my repair invoices, I am required to certify the price of a repair estimate which was either wrong or not offered. Every time I come in for service, I feel that I am in an adversarial relationship with this dealership, and this should not be the case if you are trying to attract "customers for life"

The dealership continues to prove good service on my Camry Hybrid. I have no difficulty getting an appointment. The service technicians are always pleasant. The customer waiting area is adequate. I have only had oil changes along with a tire rotation done so far and each time it takes almost exactly one hour.

I bought a used RAV-4 last summer. When I test drove the car, the AC did not work so I wasn't going to buy it. It was stated they would fix the AC as part of the deal. The first time they recharged the AC. When I picked up my car from them initially after the repair, I sat in the parking lot waiting for the AC to come on, it didn't. They took the car back, this time kept it for over a week. I was told by he manager that the entire AC was being replaced and he stated repeatedly that they had he car so long because they had ordered new parts, (condenser, compressor). The AC stops working when I try to use the AC this summer. Reiko my salesperson calls to see how the car is running after a year. My husband states that the AC is not functioning and he responds, "oh that's too bad." He didn't even discuss bringing it, let us check it out... nothing. I brought it to another Toyota dealer and they diagnose the issue as a bad compressor. They showed me the service log from when Charles had it. They had for over a week and they did not list any service performed for that time. It just shows a listing of my complaint and a question mark where the service performed should have been listed. As far as I am concerned they were blatantly dishonest with me and their service department made my AC work long enough to get me out of heir hair.

I work near the Charles Toyota Dealership and have driven by daily. I decided to stop in and have my car serviced and purchase tires. I was greeted by the service techincians who were very accomodating and polite. They answered all my questions and the service was performed quickly and best of all below the estimated charge! I was brought to my job with their courtesy vehicle and was offered a ride back to the dealership when the vehicle was completed. First and foremost, let me begin by saying how great my dealer TJ Cassell was! I recently visited this facility with no expectations. Being a single parent I was a little skeptical and nervous about purchasing a vehicle and the whole process behind it. Lets face it, my credit could be better, and in today's economy who doesn't want a great deal. TJ eased my nerves and made the whole process smooth and painless. He was very helpful, understanding, honest and worked with me through the entire purchase. Customer service like this is hard to come by these days. Not only did I make out with a car that I absolutely LOVE, I also made out with a great deal and for that I am grateful. I left the dealership feeling completely satisfied and like a huge weight had been lifted off my shoulders. I have never had a follow-up problem, as the work is done correctly the first time. The service people have given me fair and honest assessments of the work necessary, and if anything was ever changed I was told about it immediately. Chris came highly recommended, as did the whole dealership. I can honestly say that I've never had a better experience than at Charles Toyota. Chris was phenomenal to work with and Scott in finance made the nerve-wracking parts of buying a car amusing and easy. Chris treats his customers like family which is why my boyfriend and his family keep coming back to him. I only wish that I lived closer so my car could always be serviced there too. This was a totally good experience for me. Mike Collins certainly knew his product. After test driving several other brands of vehicles where the salespeople had very little knowledge of their cars, this was a positive change. I was able to purchase a new car - my first - with the assurance that I knew what I was buying. I was comfortable driving the car off the lot knowing what all the controls were and how to use them. Mike spent a lot of time with me going through the car. I also felt very comfortable knowing what my options were for financing my vehicle.

I had been looking for quite some time for a used Mini Cooper. I found this used Mini on cars.com. From the moment I arrived at Charles Toyota in Norwich, I was greeted by my salesman, Mike Collins. Mike took me inside and sat me down with John Pearson who was the internet manager who took all my information down. Mike Collins went to put a set of plates on the vehicle and let me take the MINI on a test drive. He had me test drive it on unstable roads and then on the highway so I could experience all types of driving. I never once was pressured into buying the car. I advised Mike I wanted to think about it overnight as I don't make purchases on the spot. I returned a few days later and Mike came up with a deal I could not pass up. The car was a surprised purchase for my wife and when I brought her to see the car, Mike had a big red bow placed on the grill ! I would highly recommend Charles Toyota to friends and family. Not often you come out of a purchase feeling this good. Way to go Charles Toyota ! Hope to do business with you in the future.

We visited Charles Toyota back on 1/15 to look at a 2010 Toyota Tacoma Prerunner. We loved the truck, and the price, although it was a little steep for our household budget, so we asked for time to think about it. In the meantime, at the suggestion of the salesperson, we put down a refundable $250 deposit. Although we were a little unhappy with our salesperson (young and a little too eager, at least for us, to close the deal as quickly as possible), we now understand why he was the way he was. A second trip to the dealership on 1/19 resulted in our getting to meet the General Manager of the place, Harold Winslow. If I thought that our salesperson was pushy initially, I now feel sorry for him because of the pressure that I am certain that he is under to sell, sell, sell. Harold was not about to take "no" for an answer, and got outright rude with my wife and me when it was obvious to him that "no" was our final answer. He offered us a fantastic deal on the truck, I won't argue that, but he would not accept our having decided that it would put too much strain on our household budget. The salesman tried to walk us out, pretty much saying "no hard feelings", but that apparently angered Harold, who stuck his head out the door to tell him "just let 'em go, you've spent enough time on them." Also, before we walked out, while Harold and two or three others inside tried to understand why the deal fell through, one of the guys (not Harold or our salesperson) literally yelled across the showroom floor, loud enough for any others in the place to hear, "Is this the guy with the bad credit that we got the great rate for?" Totally unprofessional crew. Finally, after we left, we realized that we might need to sign something to get our deposit back. We returned within 5 minutes after leaving, I went inside and inquired, and Harold told me that he didn't know if I would be getting my deposit back. He said that maybe we'll just keep that on account for the next time you come in to purchase a vehicle. Unbelievable! When I do get my deposit back . . . and believe me, I will . . . that will be the last interaction that I ever have with this place. If you come here to buy a car, you very well could be extremely pleased with the deal you get, because they are willing to deal, but don't even bother if there's the slightest possibility that you may not accept the deal you're offered. Charles Toyota has a wonderful team! We did our research on the truck and different dealerships before arriving, we found Dealer Rater and were convinced by the very thorough reviews that we should try Charles Toyota - thank you raters, you were correct! Charles Toyota was an excellent dealer from which to purchase a new vehicle. On 12/29/12 we visited Charles Toyota. Reiko was our sales person. He was wonderfully cordial and friendly, greeting us quickly as we approached the door. We showed Reiko what we were looking for, told him what we were willing pay and what we expected to receive for our trade-in. Reiko checked over our details and conferred with Tommy on some details. Tommy then explained how they came to the number for our trade-in, that there were two vehicles available meeting our wants at one of their other dealerships and they would do their best to obtain one for us. We received a call the next day stating they were able to secure one of the trucks for us and to please come down the next day to complete the paperwork to finalize the sale. Although, Reiko was off that day, we were again cordially welcomed back by Dan and Tommy, they were genuinely happy to give us the news of being able to secure the truck for us. Dan assured us that his driver was on his way to the other dealership to pickup the truck within the next few days. We then were taken to Scott to do all of the final paperwork, he was very thorough in reviewing all of the paperwork and the extended warranty options. He made signing all of the paperwork simple with his outgoing and upbeat personality. Scott assured us that the mileage put on the vehicle to relocate it to Norwich would not count towards the warranty mileage. Upon our departure, Dan again approached us to reassure the truck would be on its way in a few days. We were thrilled to get a call sooner than we expected that the vehicle had arrived and it was being prepped for us to pickup later that afternoon. Reiko took us for a test drive before we did the final acceptance of the truck. It performed beautifully, Reiko went through the 4WD operation with us, went over the systems, and once we returned the multiple manuals that come with the vehicle. Overall it was a low stress process with the Reiko, Tommy, Dan, Scott and the other staff members who helped with other little details (I feel bad that I cannot remember his name - the other sales person who put the license plates on our truck-thank you). We look forward to having our truck serviced at Charles Toyota and expect to have the excellent service we received when we purchased our truck.

Reiko and Dan were great to work with. It took me months to decide what Tacoma I wanted to purchase. The guys never gave up and kept in contact with me. The Tacoma I wanted was not on the lot and one couldn't be found at any other dealers. I didn't know this, but Dan ordered a Tacoma with the SR5 package,color,engine and transmission just like I wanted. I was pleasantly surprised to get a phone call from Reiko saying "my" truck had come in. I went in the very next day and drove home with a brand new 2013 Tacoma.

Had great internet price and dealer followed thru on initial sale.John (Internet manager) was friendly and good to work with and Mike Collins at the dealership took the time on a late Sat evening (almost closing time)to wok thru the paper work and get us the correct price as promised.Was a little disappointed that the car was not detailed properly since we had been working for over a week but not a huge deal. Mike Collins personally had the car washed and helped us out.Overall a great experience.

Sales and Finance departments were great. Chris is a very nice salesperson that allows the quality Toyota products to shine. He doesn't turn off customers with a pushy presentation or deception. Chris and the quality Toyota product are the main reasons I went with Charles Toyota and are the bases for the high score categories.The low score in quality of work was solely due to the condition of the car after undercoating and I will probably take my car to another dealer for maintenance in the future (overspray on the sides of the car from undercoating that initially wasn't cleaned up until I identified it, dirt on the inside door handle and a stain on the brand new leather/suede front drivers seat from the body shop mechanic).

We recently purchased a Certifed used Car from Charles Toyota. We had the pleasure of Dealing with Art Bruce. Art is the exact opposite of what you expect from a salesman. Not once during our visit/test drive did he ever try to sell us the car. I never felt pressured. I even told him that I was going to take the weekend to discuss the car with my wife and I would get back to him on Monday. He just shook our hands and took us at our word. He didn't try to pull any sales tricks to try to make us buy the car that day or anything. On Monday I called him and we negotiated a fair price and again I did not feel uncomfortable during this process. Art remained professional throughout everything. He even drove the car down to my own mechanic for him to take a look at before we finalized the purchase. To me this was a huge deal because it meant that they had nothing to hide if they were willing to let an outside mechanic look at it. The gentleman who handled all of our financing and warranty information was extremely professional also, he never tried to sell us any extra warranties or services we didn't need. I only have one complaint and that is the website is very misleading. The car that I purchased showed up on the website as a certified vehicle. Only to find out that when you get there that in fact it had not been certified yet. The Sales Manage Dan tried to tell me that it would be an additional $550 to certify the car. I explained to Art that I felt that was a deceptive practice and he went to Tommy who is the General Sales Manager and they agreed to waive the fee. I still question the validity of the fee when the website clearly already had the vehicle as being certified. None the less Art helped us out with that as well. In the beginning I was not looking forward to doing business with a car dealership but in the end the over all experience was fine and I feel it is due to Art. He was professional the entire time he never pressured us and did everything he said he was going to do for us. I would reccomend this dealership and I would VERY STRONGLY reccomend asking for Art as your salesman if you want a smooth pressure free process.

Arthur Bruce was the gentleman that we dealt with, he was more than courteous, friendly, answered all questions we had and I could not have been happier with Art. Mike collins the salesman was incredible! He welcomed me at the door. He made sure I felt like the most important person in the room. Several other salesmen said hello and congraulated me on my purchase. Dan the new sales manager sat with me and went over numbers to make sure the deal happened and I was satisfied.Christian, the finance manager, went through several scenarios with me and made sure I understood every detail of the financing and worked numbers until i felt comfortable.This was a great experience and I would recommend these folks to my friends and family!

The experience was very friendly and plesant. When I asked questions about some various specifics of several models I was interested in, I received confident and accurate answers. (I already knew some of the answers.) I felt very comfortable during the total purchase experience. This is my first experience purchasing a vehicle from Charles Toyota. I have purchased several new cars from other dealerships before. I usually buy a car planning a very long term relationship with the car/truck and the dealership. I felt sales representative Ray McLean and the general manager were very trustworthy and instilled confidence in me to make the purchase with them. If anyone reads this and is looking to buy a new vehicle, I would strongly reccomend you stop by and check them out. Baseed upon my experiences so far I would go back there and do it again. Hopefully other than routine planned maintenance it will be awhile befoe I am looking for another car, but when I do Chareles Toyota would likely be the first place I go to shop.

I just purchased my second Prius from Charles Toyota. Mike Collins was my salesperson and he worked hard to make this sale. I told him when I walked in that I didn't "need" to buy a new car... but if the deal was a good one and met my criteria, I would. Mike worked his butt off. I didn't even want to drive the new car, I already knew I wanted it but he insisted. I told him he didn't have to go through all the "perks" with me that I would read the manual. Again, he insisted and went through the new Prius thoroughly. Needless to say, he earned what little commission he made on this sale. He told me he would rather lose money than have me walk out the door. I was so impressed with this salesman and he didn't know it, but I wouldn't buy a Toyota from any other dealer. They have taken care of me for 4 years with my last Prius and I loved that car so much, I almost cried when I left it. It felt like I was deceiving an old friend. The General Manager, Harold Winslow, also took the time to speak with me after the sale was complete and that was something he didn't have to do. My experience couldn't have been better. I walked in not even knowing if I wanted to buy and drove home with my new Prius! Mike Collins and Charles Toyota rock!!

Went in for my 30K service on my Tacoma and to replace a fan on the passenger side(covered under warranty). The service went ok, didn't really feel very personalized. It felt more like they were just going through the motions. I used to go to a dealership back in Washington where they went over with me the service that was performed and any issues, they also washed and vacumed my truck after they were done, and they gave you a free drink from their cafe while you waited. Some nice perks, but now i realize that all dealerships aren't as awesome as this. Anyways, the service was ok. What really got me is that when the removed my glove compartment to replace the fan, they didn't put it back on correctly. When I went to put something back in the glove box the glove box fell off. It was fairly easy to put back on(the correct way). Stuff like this makes me wonder about the quality of their service. Did they actually check everything they were supposed to on my 30K service? Or did they just change the oil, swap out some filters, and rotate my tires, while running through the motions? Guess I wont know. I prefer Charles Toyota over Girrard, but I think I'll try another place next time. Even if it means I have to drive to Rhode Island.

The service was very good. Mike was knowledgeable of the model that we were interested in and answered all our questions thoroughly. He showed us how to use the car's new tech, such as navigation and setting up phone connectivity. Although he was busy at the time of purchase, he frequently checked in with us in the business department to make sure the transaction went smoothly. He gave us a full tank of gas. The people we met there were friendly and professional.

I brought my car in for service -oil change and timing belt replacement. The work was completed early and they call to let me know I could pick up the car. When i got there it had been raining for several hours. My car was out in the lot with the window open. The passenger seat and floor were full of water. The service desk person tried his best - even ran out in the rain (no coat or anything) to get my car and bring it in the shop. He tried to vacum out the water as best he could. I call the dealership on Monday to talk to them regarding the good job the service desk person did but also to ask about their process for bring cars out in the lot. The manager was "busy" and would have to call me back. He never did!

Tom and the service manager were extremely knowledgeable. They took care of items that were not working correctly or were missing from the used vehicle purchased in May 2012. They told me when the parts would be in and how long it would take to install the items. When I brought the vehicle it took part of one day to install the driver side mirror, head rest and the corner cover for the roof rack. It now looks brand new.Will bring the vehicle and buy a vehicle over and over from this Toyota location as long as Tom C. is there.I live in New London and would rather drive 20-25 minutes to Norwich, CT for the amazing service.Regards,Randall Surprenant

At first Michael seemed like a very knowledgable salemen until he was asked to backup what his facts, such as repair history, previous owners, etc. We didn't end up buying the car even though we liked it. This was because of the honesty of the dealership. Michael was extremely rude and will take advantage of anyone who doesn't know how to ask the tough questions when buying a used car. He got very defensive when caught in a blatant lie. My brother just purchased a car from a different Toyota dealership in new hampshire and was treated well. He was given a full tank of gas when he left the dealership, but Charles Toyota and Michael were generous enough to put just under 1/8th of a tank of gas once tje sale was complete. Toyota... You make great cars but customers do not buy one from Charles!

Our purchase experience with them is just ok. One thing I didn't like is that, after we agreed on a price and signed some paperwork, the salesman told us the price included a $500 manufacturer rebate. Although it is excluded after some negotiations, I think this is a tactic they shouldn't use in the first place.

Ray McLean was fantastic and helped us find the best car for what we were looking for. He stayed longer than the dealership was open to finish the sale and even came in on his day off to help get the mats installed and show how to use features in the car, such as bluetooth. My wife and I think he does a fantastic job and we are very happy with the car.

But after your saled department made it worth me coming all the way from Hartford by meeting my other needs concerning price ect. We had an appointment for an oil change, and the car was taken in as soon as we arrived. We were invited to sit in the waiting area, which is a typical one. There are magazines, vending machines, and access to a restroom. The work was completed quickly. The employee who came to let us know it was done was very friendly and professional.

The employees at Charles Toyota were ready to sell me a new car. At other dealership, I was pushed around and almost forced into making a decision i did not want to. Arthur and his fellow employees were kind and understood that I was a first time car buyer and wanted to take my time making a decision. This review is published the day after the previous one re: Colchester Toyota, so people won't simply think I'm a grouchy entitled old MD. Went to Charles Toyoto. Absolutely 1000% different event. The sales man was friendly, easy to talk to, and completely informed about the, which he went over with us in detail. He had us take the Highlander to our house to make sure it fit in our garage. We came back, talked to the sales manager, then the business manager. No arguing, fair offers for tradeins, made sure we had insurance forms for the new car and proper transfer papers before we left with no issues. When we finished it was well past their closing time so Mr McLean offered to come to explain all the details of the car at a later time, as well as to bring the car to the dealership for undercoating. Perfectly wonderfull experience. Car is now parked in our garage.

The service was good, I think you need to get customers to the finance person quicker, I waited nearly 1.0 hour for the finance person to be ready for me and yes, I realize he was with other customers. I would say that was my only disappointment.This is my second new purchase from Charles and I would go back again in the future.

I had a great experience at Charles Toyota. I was not looking to purchase a vehicle yet but when they showed me the brand new 2011 venza at a great price, I knew I could not give it up. It was exactly what I wanted & I also got a five year warranty for oil changes & tire rotations, that was also a plus. They were able to get me a loan on my own without a cosigner & that will help me incredibly in my future. They were great!

When our daughter's car blew the trnsmission in her old car, us being here in California and her being in Connecticut, we needed to to do something to help get her into a reliable vehicle, since she is driving a distance to Uconn and to the kid's appointments. We did a research for Toyota's as my husband is a retiree from the Toyota/General Motors joint venture NUMMI in Fremont, CA. We did a web search for Toyota dealersships close to her and we all were all on the phone with eachothwr and looking on the web and we all agreed with the same Corolla. We had her call to get the ball rolling and she spoke with Tommy and then Mike Collins and Dan the sales manager and within a 1 1/2 days our daughter was in her new auto. Mike and Dan worked very close with us to make this transaction possible in such a short time, truly a very professional dealership where they all work as a team. My daughter just bought her first car today. We told the dealership she was starting college and I(her Mom) wanted a safe and reliable car with good gas milage. My daughter thought more about color, design, comfort, sound system..etc..before gas milage!..Oh and safety too..:) We drove a couple cars...had all our questions answered..even encouraged to look up information on Edmunds(car info). They handed us "Autocheck" directly related to a car we were interested in. No pressure...down payment option was offer for them to hold the car and we were assured it would be refunded if we chose not to purchase. I know most people feel like I do...dread buying a car because of the "sharks" the salesmen waiting to reel you in and eat you up! It usually is very intimidating buying car because you almost have to speak a different language...:cartalk"- 3.1 liter, mgp, mph, turbo, automatic, etc...blah blah blah...well Michael Collins...spoke to me and my daughter...and miraculously listened!Ironically it was a enjoyable experience...the price was right..the car was right..saftey features and all..and from my daughter's point of view...she smiled and called her very first car.."CUTE" ! Ok..that made me smile too!The service department was top notch as well...they cleaned the car..fixed anything that needed to be fixed...as it was a used car...and needed to be checked over thoroughly.The dealership..not sure if other dealerships do this...but registered the car and went through the emissions and we walked out the door with keys in hand without going to the DMV!

After standard workday hours for the service department to be available is the best. Initial 5K service all paid by ToyotaCare. 45 minutes in and out. I have been bringing my 2002 Toyota Prius to Charles Toyota for 10 years at every mileage interval recommended by Toyota. They have always taken care to let me know what services they will be performing and what the cost will be. In the event that they find something unexpected, they make sure to explain the situation completely and give me an idea of what additional charges to expect. Their service people are always welcoming and helpful. In addition, they provide a pleasant waiting room, with coffee, tea and a vending machine for additional snacks if the wait is long. Thanks to Charles Toyota, my 2002 Toyota Prius STILL gets about 50 miles per gallon in the summer, and over 40 in the winter. I'm very satisfied with the service my Prius and I get at Charles Toyota.

When the aforementioned clunker finally decided to push daisies I knew I had to bite the bullet and go in search of a used reliable car. My mother purchased a car there five years ago and has had nothing but wonderful things to say about everyone there.I arrived on a Friday to peruse and by Tuesday I was driving off in a used car -- only two years old with few miles that I could afford. They helped me take care of my existing loan and find a car that was the perfect fit for me and my busy lifestyle (two jobs and an aggressive, almost full-time hobby.)I was greeted with a smile and immediately I felt like their top priority. The sales and finance staff were kind and receptive. From the moment I walked in there until the moment I left I was taken care of.Once I received the car they made sure everything was to my liking, had answers to my wide array of questions and offered support in areas I was lacking knowledge in. We went into the car dealership to look at the Toyota Prius. I had previously called and spoke with Dan Bilicki the manager. He was very friendly and answered my many questions that I had. I think because of his friendliness and knowledge is why I wanted to go in person and check out this car. Upon entering the building a sales person Arthur Bruce asked if he could be of help. He directed me to Dan. After pleasantries and introductions we got down to business. We were asked a few important questions about our use of a car, family size, what size car did we want and so on. Then Dan picked out the car and Arthur took us outside to show us the car and explain about the hybrid system. We were learning a lot. He was very informative. We took the car for a test drive with my husband driving. I was the passenger and really got to look at everything. So I had many more questions to ask and Arthur answered them. We were just going to check out the car, but with the great people who work at Charles Toyota we were buying the car. We are very pleased with our purchase! Would we go back and buy another car from them--Absolutely!!

Reiko our salesman was excellent. He helped us trade in our two cars for a new one. He helped us get one car to the dealership that wasn't working so we could trade it in. I always bring my car to Charles...I have been a customer for many years. I have been a bit disappointed the last couple of times. This visit,I had to come back 2 days later because there was a piece of undercarrige that was not properly re-attached and it was dangling. It meant I had to loose time and then wondered what else didn't get done right. The guys at the desk are alway good and try to accomodate me. I went first thing in the morning and I waited for about 45 minutes for the repair to be made. It is always better to do it right the first time!

To All Reading this Post: I usually do not have time to post comments about a dealership but it is a must that customers in NY, CT, RI, MA and surrounding areas take note of this post. I was calling Charles Toyota inquiring on an Audi S4 they had listed. I was transferred three times and finally a person answered the line, his name, Dan, I asked what his title was, he replied, I am the Manager, can I help you. I said, I was calling for a price on the Audi S4 the dealership had listed. Dan told me, we do not give prices over the phone, you will need to come in. I said, I am calling from Rhode Island, over an hour away, I cannot drive in I am in an executive meeting. He replied, well, we are running a bank auction and I cannot give you pricing over the phone. I asked, is the dealership going Bankrupt, why a bank auction? He replied, a bank delivered a bunch of cars and they were trying to sell them. I told him again, I cannot drive in, he replied, that is the policy, goodbye! He hung-up on me! I called back and spoke to Harold who is supposed to be the GM for 25 years at Charles. His attitude was no better, in fact, the GM's attitude was much worse. The dealership should be shut down. I will be filing a complaint with Toyota which will hit them hard. With how bad the economy is, you have two managers running wild in a dealership doing whatever they want to customers while the owner is out! Typical story of the auto industry! Stay away from Charles Toyota! FYI...My family has been serving the public for over 75 years in the automotive industry! Trust me, stay away from Charles Toyota! The dealership is no good!

We received a good price on our 03 Windstar. We also were able to secure a free 60 day 3k mile warranty and a 4 year extended waranty also at a good price.We requested some services before purchase i.e. brakes, battery, emissions problem, oil change which dealership did.Our contacts were Business Manager Tommy Couture and Sales Associate Ray McLean. Both men were friendly, knowledgeable and tried to be very helpful...making the car buying experience less difficult.

We were very happy with our experience at this dealership. They didn't jerk us around and make us play games. We knew what type of vehicle we wanted, we knew what price we were willing to pay, and we had an offer in writing from somewhere else. Thankfully this dealership matched the deal and gave a fair price for our trade-in which made things easier for us. It's a good bonus that the service department has such a good reputation. It was an abosolute pleaseure to buy a car from this dealership. I was looking for an inexpensive car for my son who just turned 16. I was able to find this car on their website and visit the next day to see it. The team at Charles Toyota are very friendly and knowledgeable. We were able to contrcut a deal to purchase the car in a matter of just 20-30 minutes. I asked for a complete safety check and they gladly obliged and ensured the car was in great working condition. The Matrix I bought from this dealership about 3 years ago sold not only me, but also my Ford/GM/Chrysler lock-minded, dear wife of 37 years over to the Toyota product line. After having my wife go through every step of this process with me, this time, you now have cemented in two very long term customers and proponents of your business instead of just myself. Just by happenstance Jason was the dealer that sold me the '09 Matrix as well.The Tacoma we bought is flawless in everyway. I fully anticipate it will continue to operate in that manner just as my matrix has for the last 3 years.As far as the personalities of Jason, Tom and the owner, I always felt welcomed into a place they all loved to work at. It's always about the people. All of you are fine, honest, up-front, and fair. Believe me, after 40 years in the military as active duty and now as a contractor, my BS detector is finely tuned and never did an alarm go off.The price given for the trade-in was in the target range I had hoped for, considering I was trading in a vehicle I'd buy if I was in the market for that type of used vehicle. (Believe me, someone is getting a primo cared for hemi Durango that is PREFECT, Slick50 treated engine, 4-volume FSM included and all) The price for the Tacoma right from the start de-fanged any thoughts of me trying to bargain down the price. Sometimes searching the internet is to a dealerships advantage, as in this case.

I came to the dealership as I was shopping around for a good new or used car that I could fit into with payments and also like the car. The sales person approached and dove right in with a 2009 Toyota Corolla. Come to find out it was only his 3rd week there. James has been very pleasant, not pushy and always willing to find out information he is not sure on. I worked with several people in the dealership who did all they could to make the deal go through and make it fit. It was a great team effort. There are a few issues with the car with the main one being taken care of...strut caps which have been repaired and battery terminals cleaned.I put a call in to Forrest in service on 9/13/11 referred by James for the following remaining items:CD player not workingCar driver seat sliding back and forth/not securedriver side passenger door does not lock or unlock with keyless entry or door button-must be manually pushed and pulled.I have not heard back from anyone as of yet and today is 9/15/11. I inquired about a car over the phone which I found on cars.com. When I got to the dealership I was told I can look at the car, but can't test drive it because the clutch was broken. I drove one hour to the dealership for nothing. I did however put a deposit on the car after haggling over price leaving then getting a call 2 minutes later to come back and they would except my offer. We aggread on things that needed to be taken care of before I come back and test drive it. I arrive back to test drive and was told when I got there that I can drive it but the airbag was not in the car so excuse the hole in steering wheel. I drove the car and found a few issues. They said they would take care of it and I gave them several days to fix them before I drove down for a third time. I was told I would be in and out in a short time. Of course I wasn't. Last minute they realized car needed to be emission tested. The car failed do to the fact a new battery was put in and a drive cycle needed to be done on it. I had to drive car home and some one had to pick car up to get it tested again. Last 5 minutes of my ride home check engine light comes on. As of now I have a loner from I and my car is in your shop. Btw I had asked for a full tank of gas because car had a quarter tank and would barely make it back home.

I was informed by Charles Toyota that they had the vehicle I was looking for that included all my specifications: Red Corolla LE, Ash Interior, Premium Package and Preferred Accessory Package. I had been working with 2 other Toyota dealers in my area (Putnam County, NY) for over a week who had been unable to locate me the car I wanted with the correct colors, even though they both told me they could. The 0 % financing was ending on August 31st and we did not know if it would be extended. When Charles Toyota called and said they had the exact car I wanted on their lot ( They got my name from a requested quote online from Toyota's website with my car choices) and the price was great I put a deposit down and jumped on the deal. Charles Toyota is 110 miles from my home so I verified that all the specifications I wanted were correct. When I got there, it turned out that the interior was the wrong color (bisque instead of ash). I could have saved myself the drive and obtained that same car with those colors right here at home, instead of driving 2 hours for something I didn't want. Needless to say I was very disappointed and upset when I realized the interior color was incorrect. At first the salesman tried to say he didn't know that I wanted the ash interior. I said I told him so several times, recalling our phone conversations and that this was even recorded on their answering machine verifying my specification and to go and play the recording. The salesman, Mark Giumond then admitted his mistake on the interior color, apologized and was trying to work with me to make me happy with the car they had for me. A red corolla with ash trim simply wasn't available. Mark called over his manager (Dan) to help out with the problem. He (Dan) was rude, he insinuated I had not made it clear about the interior color, and this was somehow my fault. I told him to playback my message and listen to me say it for the 4th time. At that point he shut up and didn't pursue "making it my mistake" anymore. However, the manager Dan offered me nothing in terms of compensation for their error such as reducing the price of the car, giving me an exceptional trade-in value or throwing in some accessories (Cargo Net, Bumper guard: which were already to have been a part of the preferred accessory package I had already requested and was also told would be in the car, but didn't get.) He told me and I quote "I already am selling this car for my cost and I'm not going to lose another $50-$100 dollars on the car for accessories, take it the way it is or leave it!" He then tried to sell me a red Corolla S that had a dark charcoal sport interior for more money. This seemed like a bait and switch deal, where they told me they had what I wanted, I put down a deposit and then switched it when I got there to move the inventory they had. I traveled 2 hours to pick up a car I had made a deposit on, only to find out it was wrong when I got there. Mark. the salesman who originally helped me, did at least attempt to help correct the mistake and was kind to me. James the young, new sales associate working with Mark was also kind and helpful. The Sales manager (I think his name was Dan was absolutely horrible, I give him a zero rating, and feel that I was completely deceived by him - this is a bad reflection on Toyota. I have owned Toyota's for 20 years, I have a 1991 Tercel and a 1997 Corolla and during this whole new car shopping experience; not just with Charles Toyota, Norwich CT, but also with Greentree Toyota, Danbury CT and Toyota North, MT. Kisco NY, I feel I have been strung along, deceived, misled, misrepresented, given broken promises and lied to. I have never had this experience before. I love my Toyota cars, I love my new car, but I am extremely disappointed with the sales people and their professionalism or lack there of. Also, there is a problem with the new car that I just bought. The front passenger window when it is rolled down clangs around in the door. I brought this to the dealer's attention. Charles Toyota was unable to fix it before I left because their service department was gone for the holiday weekend. I will now have to take the car in for service to another dealer closer to home before I even get a chance to enjoy it. In the end, I purchased the car, even though the sales manager was a deceptive, lying, unprofessional man who made no attempt to correct his mistake with the interior color and missing accessories and satisfy a customer who was paying a great deal of money for a new car. Also the 0% financing was about to end, and the likelihood that any dealer was going to be able to realistically locate a car with my colors choices and packages was null to void.

I purchased a used 2004 Subaru Forester...I had it for two days and it started to shift "funny" and the transmission light came on. I brought it back to Charles Toyota and they were very friendly and helpful. They took it back, sent it to a Subaru dealer and gave me a loaner while the Subaru was being looked at. It was determined that the Subaru needed a sensor. Felt I was pressured into a purchase that was installed on the truck that was already on the truck and could not be removed. After market was way cheaper than what I was charged. Plus a price was agreed to on the phone and then was not honored when I got to the dealership. I was told about add ons after I got to the dealership I should of been told about them on the phone before I came in. Also there where 2 items on the bill of sales that was never explained to me. Some kind of etching service. Overall felt it was like them against me to purchase the truck their way.

I purchased my vehicle in November of 2010. I was unaware that a slow leak in the rear passenger tire was not caused by temperature change, but was caused by a foreign object in the sidewall. When a slow leak became a flat tire, I promptly brought my vehicle to the dealership to be checked. When the foreign object was found, I was told by Forrest Cobb that he would contact Toyota to see if the tire would be replaced free of charge, as the vehicle was just purchased. Forrest promised to call when he received an answer. A week later, when I did not receive a call, I contacted the service department. Forrest was not available, so I spoke to Rory. I was then told that Toyota would not cover the cost of the tire. To make matters worse, I took the time to go online to see how much I could purchase a tire elsewhere for. I got two quotes. The first one was for $168.00, taxes and shipping included, the other was for $169.00, taxes and shipping included. As I was told by Forrest that Charles Toyota would mount and balance my tires for free, I contacted him and ordered the tire, explaining to him that I had gotten the two quotes. He told me to bring my vehicle into the service department and he would see what he could do. I brought my vehicle in on June 23, 2011 and was told after the installation, that the cost would be $189.74! I am very disappointed in the service that I have received at Charles Toyota. I was charged more for the tire, plus tax. If I had known that I was going to be charged more, I would have ordered the tire online and brought it to Charles Toyota for the free mounting and balancing. In my opinion, I should not have had to pay for the tire anyways, as it had had a slow leak in the tire from the very first day that I had the vehicle!

First time disappointed with service/quality. Had oil change, technicians showed my wife the cabin filter that had " mice" droppings and recommended new filter. He replaced it but failed to remove the nest and dead mouse. If he only would have looked he could have done it right. I'm surprised he got the filter in with such a large nest. My wife returned and complained the fan was making noise. They told her don't use the fan ( it was very hot)and come back for a $150-200 sanitation. I removed the filter and dead mouse from the fan area and cleaned it so we could have A/C. I'll take quality over friendliness. Should have receive labor credit back for such a poor job.

The previous week my Mazda Tribute was demolished by a TREE. I had been researching vehicles on autotrader.com and found a comparable Mazda Tribute at Charles Toyota.I contacted Charles Toyota to make sure the vehicle was still available and their Sales Person, Jason Page returned my call within minutes! I was quite pleased that five minutes later I was at the dealer and that Jason had pulled the car out front for me to see it. I was pleased with his diligence and dedication to both Charles Toyota and myself as a customer. He quickly addressed all of my questions and even had the Service Department check a few things on the car for me. What a relief to be in such good hands after the trauma of losing my car! Not only did he stay late that night for me to come back for a 2nd Test Drive but he also came in on his day off to sign the paperwork on the car!

1.5 hour wait for a previously scheduled oil and filter change. Purchased the car from this dealer with the performance package. Supposed to be a multi-point inspection. This inspection included checking the wiper blades which I knew were falling apart (but my wife was the one who brought the car in so she didn't specifically ask (shouldn't have to)). Got the car back with the same old wiper blades on. I wonder how many other points of that 50 point inspection have been skipped over the months that I have brought the car in for service? Where are the other 'lifetime services' that came with this package? Like the hand wax or paint sealant and tire shine?

Lou made me feel welcomed since I stepped out of my car. He was friendly, welcoming, knowledgeable and attentive. And even though there was a misunderstanding with the first vehicle transaction, he never gave up and had a possitive attitude at all times. I will definetely recommend him, which I already did, to anyone wanting to buy a car. On the other hand, my experience with Chris was not as pleasant as with Lou. Chris was not happy when the first transaction didn't go through and he showed it on his face and with his attitude. I completely understand that he worked hard to get me the first deal, but he was not as understanding with the fact that it was not what I was looking for or afford at that time. On top of that, I arrived at the dealearship at 1:00 p.m. and it was not until 8:00 p.m. that they call me to close on the second deal. I understand there were other customers waiting after me, but I felt that I was punished for not closing on the first deal. That part was very unpleasant for me and I wish no other customer should have to go through that when buying a car.The rest of the team was very friendly and apologetic and I really appreciated that.Thanks!!

We had a good experience at Charles Toyota. We had inititaly come in looking for a pre-owned Prius Hybrid. we couldn't find one that suited our needs exactly. However, Ray, our sales person, showed us several other pre-owned models, before we settled on a Corolla. We also initially looked at pre-owned Corollas but finally bought a new 2010 Corolla S. It's the sport model. It had a bunch of fun features that a regular Corolla doesn't have, and made it better choice for us. Every step of the way through the process was farily easy, and we felt very helped along the way.

I brought the car in for its 90,000 mile service and a recall. The service department was very friendly, professional, and helpful. Since this was basically an all day service the customer van brought me home. When I picked up the car later in the day and drove it home and checked the paperwork I realized they hadn't done the recall. Called the next day and I had the second person check the paperwork and he said he couldn't find it on the paperwork, so I had to make another appointment for a 2 hour service.

Was greeted immediately upon entering dealership. Although early was taken in immediately. Waiting area very comfortable. Wait time was not excessive. Staff was very courteous. I do wish that the dealership was closer to my home but that is not under their control. Waiting area is very clean with amenities such as coffee and vending machines, Chairs are very comfortable. TV is available is wanted. They did not try to sell me services that were not needed and I appreciate the fact that they did not try to use high pressure. The waiting area is secluded enough that I could read without a lot of distractions.

I did not feel at all pressured by ANY of the sales people at Charles Toyota. I felt everyone went out of their way to find the vehicle I was looking for at the price I was comfortable with. No one tried to "convince" me to purchase something I wasn't completely happy with. I can't say enough wonderful things about the salesman Kagan. First of all he was very personable and friendly. Kagan was VERY thorough in explaining every detail and listened to what I was looking for. He was very knowlegable about the vehicle I was interested in and he didn't leave any detail unturned. Went there because dash lights came on. I called Colchester Toyota as that is where I bought the car. They wanted me to drive the car there, in the dark, from Norwich and I thought I had no brakes. Then they didn't have loaner cars and I asked them how I would get home and to work the next day. They had no answer for me. So I called Charles, they checked the light and said I need a $380 part. They would order it and it would be in on friday. They were also going to do the oil change. I called them the next day and told them that someone told me to check the gas cap and when I reset it the lights went off. The guy said I still needed the part and he would call when it came in. Well, that was about 3 weeks ago, guess I won't be going there...

I brought my car into Charles for serevice and the Service Dept. did a very good job on my Toyota Prius. My Prius is running very well. I have used Charles Totoyta to purchase my last two Toyota Camrys. The service depart and the salemen have always been polite and efficient. I have not had to call and complain about the work done. This time the cold, I presume, shattered the drivers' side front door window. I called Charles Toyota and they took my car in the next day. They had to order the window, or I could have gone in immediately. The service people were very helpful and explained the problem, prepared me for the cost before I picked the car up and the women in the office were pleasant, polite,and efficient when I paid my bill. I will definitely go there to buy a new Toyota . I hope that it won't be too soon. I really love this car. I would recommenda this store definitely to my friends.

The staff in the service department at Charles Toyota have treated me extremely well. They accomodate my schedule, complete the service I request on time, with no problems. It took 4 visits to have the spare electronic key programmed. One visit should have been adiquate. On the 1st visit, the dealer failed to tell me in advance that I neede all the electronic keys present in order to program the new key. On the 2nd visit, the dealer did not have the Hard Key cut. On the 3rd visit, the electronic key they ordered was incorrect. Finally on the 4th visit, the task was finished.

Charles Toyota has been servicing my 2003 Camry since I purchased it from them. I would not go anywhere else with my car. The hours of service are very convenient, and if the wait for my car would be too long, the dealership provides rides to work or home for me. The mechanics are excellent, and the service advisors are friendly, courteous, and knowledgeable. Thanks to the quality of the Camry and the service they provide, my car has had no major problems other than routine maintenance in over 93,000 miles.

I hesitantly stopped into Charles Toyota as I was expecting High-Pressure BS from a car salespeson. Out stepped Ray McLean, the most courteous, knowledgeable, kind car salesman I've dealt with ever. Being a single, older woman I expected the worst but was sure proven wrong by Ray. I knew I wanted a Rav4 as I was trading in my 4Runner for smaller, more economical vehicle. Ray thoroughly went over all features of the Rav4, in simple easy to understand words; spent time actually showing me how everything worked; I never felt time constraints with him and can't thank Ray and the dealership enough for their customer service. I also must pass along compliments to Marty, Sales Mgr. and Tommy, Business Mgr. Fortunately I did not have to finance my vehicle but dealing with Tommy and having the warranty thoroughly explained sure made a decision easier to understand and make. Marty, Sales Mgr, was kind and when info on blue book value on my 4Runner was requested, he never hesitated to provide same - he was very understanding and I believe offered best price for my tradein. I highly recommend Charles Toyota, haven't mentioned Service Dept. as I used them on the 4Runner and never had a problem-their customer service is the best. I will be sending all of my friends to Ray, Marty and Tommy - thanx guys, you're the best.Just an aside - when I first bought the 4Runner I had light blinking and did not know what it signified - stopped into Charles Toyota (did not buy 4Runner from charles) and Ray was on the lot, he showed me what the light flashing signified, turned it off and never pressured me to buy another vehicle - truly the best.

Run flats are the lowest rated tires by far yet the Service manager stated they have never had a complaint - please! (I left after that) Mine tore apart to the tune of $1800 after driving 3 miles AND still I never had a mandatory low pressure warming light. Since you can't tell you have a flat with a run flat, the warning light is your indicator to get the tire repaired (100 miles in the manual, 50 miles on the tire manufacturer web site. The tire was faulty, and the installiation was incorrect. The facts speak for themselves here, yet it was determined I hit someting in the road (which I did not), but even if I did, with the tire shreaded and the fender destroyed the air pressure was still not low?

I have to write a review because a few years ago when I bought my car initially I wanted to buy new. when the finance person related to me my credit would only allow for a used ford tauraus I was a little upset because i wanted a corolla. when the very sweet sales girl went on test drive with me and my daughter she explained to me to build up my credit with the ford, then come back in a year or two to buy new car. she was so sweet to me and my daughter and i ended up buying the tauraus and would buy a car from her again. she even ordered ford floor mats for us!!!!!!!!!!thank you gabriella and charles toyota

I will never deal with this Toyota Dealership again. I am 100% CERTAIN that these positive reviews are from Charles Toyota employees/associates; check out thier reviews from other car dealer review websites (all negative responses!)They accepted my bid from a car bidding website and they confirmed this acceptance even after several follow-up emails and calls from both my wife and I. With every email and call they never declined the bid or suggested otherwise. When we called again to make arrangements for us to come to the dealership for final purchase, another "manager" (for that particular day) said that car bidding site "is like a porn site" and "we have never accepted bids from that site and I don't know why the sales person and the manager yesterday agreed to the bid". What is so incredible and the height of hypocrisy is that on Charles'Toyota call waiting dialogue the audio track mentions "At Charles Toyota we do what we say!"....Apparently not. They are deceptive and they waste the time of people honestly trying to use this site (which to them is not legitimate and similar to a "porn site")These guys are BAIT-AND-SWITCH PROFESSIONALS! BUYER BEWARE!

I recently sent an offer on a Tacoma to Toyota of Colchester and 3 days later-still no response.So I went a little further away and sent an offer to Charles Toyota.Jason (The Internet Manager)responded to me within mere minutes!! That afternoon I went down and purchased The 2010 Tacoma TRD Sport OFF Jason and Dan.The dealerships goal was 100% customer satisfaction and there sure held up there end of the bargin.After the purchase I went back and spent $700 in service/parts for extras for my truck.Thanks guys you are the best and I will do my best to refer people to you.Keep up the good work Jason.

Recently I bought a used car from Charles. I knew more about the car than the salesman did, as it was not a Toyota. I remember him repeating "It's a really nice car. It really is." Essentially, the car sold itself. On the day of pick up, i left the lot with an empty tank. Less than half a mile down the road, the light came on. After spending over 12k you'd think they could fill up the tank. Also, the fabric on the inside of the door was sticking out as if it had been vacuumed in a rush and not glued and pushed back in. The entire wash and detailing job seemed rushed. I wouldn't say Charles was a horrible dealer experience, but there is an air of salesman sleeze around the place that you won't find at other dealerships (Secor Subaru, for instance, who sadly did not have the car I wanted).

When I was called by the Internet contact person I had just had one of the worst experiences I had ever experienced at a car dealership when Charles Toyota attempted to sell me a gas vehicle for a hybrid and I luckily enough had asked to look at the vehicle first. I told him I wasn't very trusting but I was assured this would be straight forward.I was greated at the door, went over the vehicle I wished to purchase, had a person evaluate my trade in, and within 20 minutes had a price in front of me. After no more than 5 minutes of negotiations I owned a Toyota Highlander Limited HYBRID with navigation, and nearly every other option. All at a price $3000 less than what the other dealership told me was the cost for the vehicle with my trade, even though they tried to sell me the wrong vehicle. For someone who just spent 40,000 plus on a vehicle it really was a great job on Marque's, your sales manager's, and your internet salesperson's part to make me feel very comfortable and trusting. I am waiting for the vehicle to come in and I suppose the deal isn't really done yet but so far this was just great. Thank you

If i could give this dealer all zeros i would. I bought a used acar from them that was over priced by 4,000 compared to book value and also puty me in very high interest program when they said i would be getting 5% interest i really got 12.99% and they said i already signed the contect so i had to deal with it.Next i brought my car there because 2 days after i bought it the brakes went all together. when i went back to pick up my car it was raining and both windows were down. It only gets better.My transmission went three weeks later and they vowed to replace it. 3 transmissions later they finally got it right. In the meantime they gave me a rental car for all my troubles. After they couldn't get my transmission right they made me cover the rental car they "gave me for my troubles". What a crock of s***. Overall i wouldn't send my worst enemy to this dealer ship and i would advise...STAY AWAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just bought a new 2006 Toyota Corolla. Friends of our recommended this dealership to us, as they had bought 3 cars from them previously. Even though we haven't used the service department, our friends told us they do quality repairs and have never had a problem with service. I despise high pressure salesmen. Mike Smead, our salesman, greeted us professionally, answered all our questions and most importantly, put no pressure on us to buy a car. He was very helpful and really worked with us to get us a car we could afford. Tom, in finance, was also very helpful in getting us a loan at a good interest rate. He did not pressure us into buying a warranty, but was helpful in describing the details and left the decision to us. I would highly recommend these two men, and really don't understand why all the negative reviews previously posted.

A recent car purchase at Charles Toyota led us to rate this dealer as unsatisfactory in all areas. Upon initial purchase of a vehicle, we were told we would be getting car "a". When the vehicle was presented to us, it was not the vehicle we had paid for. It did not have many of the ammenties car "a" had. We immediately confronted the sales manager and general manage. We were told they would do all they could to make the vehicle given to us as close to the vehicle as we thought we had purchased. The vehicle was so severly scratched, they promised they would remove them all. When they couldnt' do it, we were told we were being picky and that even "God couldn't provide us with what we wanted." Just two weeks earlier we had purchased a vehicle at Colchester Toyota and it was in mint condition. The service department at Charles Toyota is the only department worth noting.

This dealer greatly inflated the price on my MR2 Spyder.I never saw this car before, and it looked very exotic - and I wanted it badly. The salesman told me the MSRP on the car was about $32,000 I gave him a $400 tip to get me the lowest price possible, so he sold it to me for $25,000. It was used, 2 years old with 13,500 miles on it, but in very good condition. He also said that the car would sell fast, so I really didn't have time to sleep on it. I soon found the actual MSRP is about $24,000 for a new MR2 Spyder.The service dept also ignored my issues on steering wheel alignment, so my steering wheel is off-kilter and that's that ;) Thanks Charles Toyota! I hope the extra cash you made off me was worth it!Live and learn.

Absolutely horrible. Took advantage of my daughter by selling her a used car with an overly inflated sales price as compared to regional averages, put her in a 17.99% financing deal at a monthly payment she cannot afford, falsified contract dates and were just plain arrogant.<br><br>STAY AWAY FROM THIS DEALERSHIP. They have a very poor reputation in Southeastern CT. (especially the finance manager)
