Easiest and most pleasant car buying experience we have ever had! I got exactly the car I wanted no pressure or hassles. Highly recommend Evanston Subaru!

I visited this dealer while I was searching for the right car. I went because they had a particular year end car available in a color that was not available elsewhere. They had already sold the car that I wanted, but I didn't call before I went, so not their fault. They offered me a great price on another color. It was a lot less than another dealer I had visited the week before. They didn't pressure me, and I really appreciated that they offered me a good price, better than the dealer where I had done my service for the last 10 years. I decided on a different Make of car, so did not go through the buying process.

They say one thing, and do another. The customer service is horrendous, questions are answered with questions and indirect answers as if they're trying to confuse you. Both men I dealt with were both rude, and inconsistent with their stories between the two of them.

The salesman we approached was nice but when he found out that we've already talked to another salesman he tried to ask him for help but the latter was extremely rude he told us that he was BUSY! As we were negotiating the price, the owner made us feel like we were wasting his time, even though we told him that we were willing to buy 2 cars. I would not recommend this dealership because they are extremely rude and they don't appreciate their customers.

It's been 16 years since I've gone car shopping, so you can imagine the anxieties I was having about buying a new car. I've been a fan of the SUV style vehicle, since I owned a '99 Honda CRV. After doing a lot of research online, I learned that the Subaru Forester has had a consistent good rating for some time now. As part of my research I visited several dealerships (i.e Honda, Toyota, Subaru) to see, talk and test drive the various SUV vehicles in their line up. Seeing how the Forester had such high consistent ratings, I decided to go with the 2015 Subaru Forester as my next vehicle that I wanted to invest in. I visited several Subaru dealerships in a span of the month of researching. Of the dealerships, Evanston Subaru really stood out and I naturally felt comfortable to want to work with them on purchasing my next vehicle. There are details that you quickly see about this dealership that puts you at ease. One obvious one is that the appearance of the dealership as you drove into their parking lot looked very professional, modern, and clean. It just gave you that initial feeling that Evanston Subaru cared about their customers by the way they cared about their workplace. The gentleman who I was fortunate to work with was Ludovic "Lou" Perruffel. Lou was very approachable and pleasant. I especially appreciated his professionalism and most of all his down-to-earth, up front approach. I can't express enough how helpful and understanding he was throughout my car buying experience. The finance personnel that I worked with, David, was very professional and really knowlegeable. Being that it was 16 years ago since I last bought a car, Lou and David really did make the effort to make my experience a comfortable and stress-free one. I know that you might be thinking, "who is this person that's providing this rating on Yelp about Evanston Subaru?" "He must work for them?" I promise you, I don't work for the dealership. I'm just an "average joe" customer like everyone else that was lucky enough to have visited Evanston Subaru and Lou. Thanks to them, my anxieties, and nerves about buying a new car after 16 years a less stress, more pleasant car buying experience. So if you're shopping for a new car, even if it's been 16 years or 5 years ago, and you're looking for a great car buying experience....stop in at Evanston Subaru. All their staff there are great to work with. If you run into Lou Perruffel as your salesman, tell him "Henry says hi and that you're looking for that great car buying experience".

Since 2010 I have purchased 2 Subaru's here and my son on my recommendation bought one also. Rod in Sales is great and Dorcy in service has become a dependable friend. Buying a car is only the beginning of a long relationship with a dealer. The service is the key and Evanston Subaru knows that.

*****ROB P* ( the owner) called me HARRASSING me to take down my yelp review because he claims its dishonest! First of all everything I said on my review of his dealership is correct. My credit score was a little different only because I didnt remember it from the top of my head but after reviewing my paperwork it is 687 not 698. There! Now it is 100% correct ROB P.. I HOPE EVERYONE READS MY REVIEW AND CHANGES THEIR MIND OF TRYING TO PURCHASE A VEHICLE AT YOUR DEALERSHIP! I will not take my review down and yelp shouldnt take it down either since this is the point of having yelp. Yelp is suppose to help others and ALSO WARN THEM! I truly believe that this dealer DOES NOT INSPECT THEIR USED VEHICLES FOR ROAD SAFETY. They sell it like that to consumers. Not a good way to do business if you ask me. I guess ROB P does not know that the internet can make or break a business! I thought ROB P was going to call me to fix this problem but instead he decided to tell me how maybe its my mechanic that ripped me off and how my review is not true and to take it down! He would not allow me to speak and loudly spoke over me until the conversation became pointless. Rob P is an extremely arrogant business man and clearly does not care about the safety or satisfaction of the buyers. Before the phone conversation had started I was very willing to adjust my yelp comment- had he responded with a friendlier tone and a willingness to resolve my car issues, or at least meet some where in the middle with some type of resolution. Clearly he is incapable of having a conversation when he is confronted with his poor managerial skills and his failure as a business man to negotiate. SHAME ON YOU ROB P FROM EVANSTON SUBARU

The staff was friendly but i had a bad experience here and here is why:1. I arrived at the dealer around 11am and didn't get out of there until 430 pm all because they had problems getting me a loan which I don't understand since my credit is not very bad (698) .2. The car I purchased had some problems because It needed brakes, rotors, suspension control arms in the front needed to be replaced and it was low on engine oil.3. I took the car to a mechanic so that he can do a quick check list on what the vehicle needed and he gave me a price on replacing the brakes, rotors, suspension control arms, and since it's an Audi a4 at 94000 miles he told me it was going to need a timing belt and water pump replacement since these cars are sensitive if you don't change it before 100k the engine can go bad. He also told me he noticed the engine was leaking oil but he wasn't 100% sure from where unless i left the car there with him for the day and I couldn't since the dealer only gives you a few hrs to take the car to a mechanic. So he quoted me at $1900 to repair everything else. Since he wasn't sure what exactly was causing the engine oil leak he couldn't quote me on that. I went back to the dealer and told them about how much I will need to spend in order for the car to be safe to drive not to mention the oil leak. The sales guy " ethan" told me that there was no way they would drop the price $1900. I should have left after he said that but he then went to talk to his manager and they dropped the price by $1000. Since I liked the car and I didn't want to keep shopping around anymore getting my credit ran by multiple dealers I decided to accept the deal. WHAT A MISTAKE!!!! Since I bought the car the next day I took it to my Audi specialist mechanic and he pinpointed what exactly was causing the oil leak after paying him $80 for his time. Turns out it was leaking oil from the back of the engine where the vacuum pump is attached and as well as the head gasket. That job alone was going to cost me $1200. I also noticed that when I drove it to the mechanic it randomly made like a humming noise from the rear wheels. Turns out its both rear wheel bearings! That alone was going to cost me $750! So since I found out about all of this I called the dealer Monday morning since I bought the car Saturday. I told my sales rep "ethan" about this and he proceeded to tell me there was nothing they can do! I guess it was stupid of me to think that here is this wonderful state of illinois consumers have a 3 day cancellation period! i bought the car because I was desperate and It was my mistake for making the purchase even though it had problems! but I also bought it thinking that here in illinois you have a 3 day cancellation period! Since I bought a LEMON! I ended up spending $3850 to repair it so that it's safe to drive! I am FURIOUS with the whole thing!! THIS DEALER SELLS USED VEHICLES WITHOUT FIXING ANY PROBLEMS THEY MIGHT HAVE AND HOPING TO SELL IT TO A SUCKER! My word of advise is DON'T BUY A USED VEHICLE FROM THERE AT ALL!!!! and if you do make sure they fix it for you or give you in writting a 3 day cancellation period!!!!!!!

My wife and I had unfortunately walked into Evanston Subaru to test drive and buy the 2015 Outback. Once we walked on the floor we were finally greeted after being stared at for 10 minutes while the sales staff debated who was going to take us. Finally Pepi stepped forward and took us on a test drive. We came back to discuss colors and options we wanted and he told us the car we wanted would not be there for a few weeks when in fact the exact car was located there and was available for sale. We asked was for an appraisal to be done on my vehicle so we could get a deal done. He told us that his manager would not do an appraisal because we were not serious about buying the car. Pepi told us once we were serious about buying, then we could discuss numbers. Since we really loved the Outback, we did not not let this horrible experience deter us. Instead we went to Grand Subaru and purchased the vehicle. Not only was Pepi disinterested, I had to ask him if he wanted to take down our information to follow up on a car that was already there but he failed to tell me.

Even though my mechanic & Evanston Subaru repair spoke regarding my 2010 Legacy, a differential transfer case problem, Subaru repair saw it as entire breakdown of the transmission. Somewhere, somehow, someone, mysteriously removed all the fluid from the transmission, w/o my knowledge therefore the vehicle is completely inoperable & nearly wouldn't allow the vehicle out of their hands. The cost to repair a transmission - a mere $6,300 on a vehicle that had been driven w/o transmission fluid for many weeks prior to reporting to Subaru repair. Contacted Subaru Corporation and they came to the intelligent conclusion after three weeks holding my car hostage that someone removed the transmission fluid; therefore, it is not under warranty. Spoke with owner of Evanston Subaru & was told because I didn't bother to follow the letter of the law on my extended warranty, no service history at their repair shop, the warranty is entirely voided. Oh how wrong Mr. Bill is. Under the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act of 1975, a vehicle owner may choose to have their vehicle serviced wherever they darn well please & IT WILL NOT VOID any warranty the owner has purchased for the vehicle. Neither Evanston Subaru nor corporation will allow the vehicle to be inspected by an authorized dealer for a second opinion. It will most certainly void the warranty, if I so chose to go that intelligent route. Oh yeah, Evanston Subaru will happily take the vehicle off my hands for a mere $1,000, & I was asked several times, "you would like a new Legacy to replace the inoperable vehicle?" Right.

The dealer had the exact car we wanted, but we were told that it was a take home demo for one of their staff and had around 4,000 miles on it. The salesman said that since the car had never been titled it was considered new. He refused to budge on the price for the "new" car and he refused to extend the warranty. We stood up and walked out at that point.

There is no problem too big or too small for Dorsey to give her full attention and concern. She is always thorough and conscientious, explaining everything and making sure every one of my concerns are addressed before bringing out the final tally. Should we expect any less? Of course not. But the way she goes about her job is stellar. I happen to have a number of physical challenges which sometimes get in the way of taking care of my car in as timely a manner as I would like to. Dorsey is always as accomodating as she possibly can be, always leaving me feeling like I am one of her most important customers...even though I know she treats everyone that way. :) That is just the way it should be.

Mr. Paddor,The "great" checked in the customer service category above is for Dorsey (along with her partners, Scott and Mark). But my overall experience is very bad. And continues to be EVERY time I come to your dealership. Before I get into the specifics, I want to make sure you know that your service advisors are the "face" of your operation. The very operation you run and for which you are responsible. I have interacted with Scott, Mark and Dorsey. They are ALL very good at what they do, especially Dorsey. It seems it's luck of the draw when a customer brings in their vehicle which adviser assists them. I am always happiest when I see Dorsey walk my way as I get out of my car. She's knowledgeable, kind, patient and quite forthright with telling me the steps needed to correctly resolve the issues with my car. When a customer has to take time from their day - maybe their work day - and bring their car in because something mechanically went wrong (I understand it's not your fault, it's mechanical) that's a kick in the crotch to them. They are unhappy. Period. The last thing they want to encounter is poor service. The VERY last thing they want to do is WAIT. But the first thing they encounter is a smile from Dorsey, Mark or Scott. But what happens after they do their jobs is what prompted me to take time from my day and write this review. Because it's important for you to read a customer's perspective. I can only hope you hear it.I'm going to assume your margin on service is greater than sales. Isn't that where your money is? I'm in business....have been for many years. I understand margins. So why would any prudent owner of a car dealership NOT place service as their number one priority? And I don't mean having one of your mechanics suggest I need work done when I don't (which happened last August and for which I was furious when I leaned from a reputable mechanic that no such work was necessary). When I leave my car in the capable hands of your advisors, I am happy......for a very brief moment. Because it is where my car goes next that worries me. I know that I can always add 50% onto the estimated time told to me because of whatever is happening behind the curtain. And unlike in the movie, you can't tell me to pay no attention to the man behind the curtain of your Oz. As a customer, it is my right to pay attention. Do you know why? Because it's my money. And my time. And I have spent WAY TOO MUCH of that time in your customer service area waiting for the simple (and what should be relatively quick) task of changing my oil. Your service advisors, by the way, are the ones carrying the brunt of the complaints because they are working with two variables in those work bays: slow and slower. Why should anybody ever have to wait one hour and 41 minutes for an oil change, as I did last week? Why did I bother to make an appointment for that kind of wait time? Why? Have you bothered to be a "secret shopper" in your own business and put a clock on those involved in such a simple and frequent task? Would it hurt you to spend more time on efficiency than decorating your office? Why are my mirrors moved when no test drive is required for an oil change? EVERY single one of my mirrors is moved EVERY single time I get my oil changed. Despite my requests, somebody behind your 'curtain of disregard' always moves them. Thankfully, I'm used to it by now and only once have I almost gotten into an accident on my way home because one of your guys in back cannot pay attention to detail. The whole car washing thing.....I will only say I am happy to see you finally figured out that when a customer says, "Please do not wash my car after it's serviced" means DO NOT WASH IT. It only took you four times with my car.I feel this is going in a direction I don't want it to, so I will finish my letter. I don't know that I was tactful enough (I certainly do not want this to come across as a "bashing" letter), and if my words sound harsh to your ears, I apologize for that. But those words are the truth and we all know what the truth does.By the way, I bought my car from you. But regretfully, Mr. Paddor, it will be the last Subaru I purchase with your name on it. I cannot, with good conscience, allow myself to spend anymore of my time and certainly not more of my money at a dealership whose leader seems to put more effort into how he looks inside his glass house (office) than how quickly and efficiently the work is being done on his customer's vehicles.I am not signing my name. It is not in an attempt to hide behind my words, but rather, to avoid any followup conversation with whomever chooses to contact me in a feeble effort to hold on to my business. I have received a few of those from Mr. Eichenlaub over the years and he cannot sound any less sincere. Obligatory is the only sound he makes. I just want to move on.Sincerely,Former Customer

I recently purchased a 2014 Outback from Evanston Subaru. The whole experience was excellent. Our experience began with inquiring online and receiving quick, informative responses through email. I visited and was introduced to Joe Halpin who is excellent. He was kind, very knowledgable, and patient with a talkative 7 year old who thought she was buying the car. He answered all of my questions and he made the process of buying the Outback simple and fun. He is excellent at what he does. I highly recommend working with him. Having said that, I was also extremely impressed by everyone I met at Evanston Subaru. After returning home with the car, I had a question about the financing I'd agreed to. I left a message and was called back within minutes. Excellent service.

Dorsey has always been friendly and competent in writing-up my service requirements. She goes out of her way to see that I am completely satisfied with the service my car gets from Evanston Subaru.Gasparre is the service tech who always works on my car. I attribute its health to Gasparre who looks beyond routine service and spots potential problems that will be more expensive and inconvenient to fix if left to become serious.

I came in for a warranty replacement for my rearview mirror. I had had a few neutral to bad experiences with this dealership in the past, but they are close to where I live and decided to give them another shot.I was told that I would have to wait two weeks to make an appointment to come in in the middle of a weekday. This wasn't that bad as I figured service members weren't available due to the holidays. Once I got there, they told me that the wait would be about an hour. I've changed a rearview mirror before myself and I know it's a ten minute process of unscrewing the broken one and replacing it with the working one. But I figured with paperwork and stuff, maybe it would take an hour or maybe they are running behind. 90 minutes later, Dorsey Colby comes up to me and tells me that my brake pads need to be replaced, that I missed my 30,000 mile checkup and that the total price to get those things taken care of was going to be north of $800 at least. My brakes aren't squeeling, so I know that the pads don't need to be replaced yet. And my car is only at 27,000 miles. So I didn't miss my 30k checkup because I'm not at 30k miles yet. When I asked her how she knew my brakes needed work, she said that she had the tech put the car up on the lift, took off the wheels, and did a brake inspection. I told her that all I requested was my mirror replaced under warranty. She said sarcastically that she didn't charge me for the brake inspection. She didn't seem to care at all that she inconvenienced me or did something to my car that I didn't ask for. I asked to talk to the Service Manager and Dorsey said she would see if she could find him. Then she just disappeared.I started to leave but I asked another employee if he could direct me to the service manager. He looked over at the guy sitting in the Service Manager's office, paused, and said, "Let me see if I can find him." Then he walked off toward the sales floor. So I walked over to the guy in the Service Manager's office and asked if he was the service manager. It was Ray Elchenlaub and he said he was. The other guy isn't listed on this form, but he basically tried to trick me into thinking that Ray wasn't the service director. Ray apologized for taking up my time with a frivolous brake inspection and apologized for wasting my time with something that should have only taken a few minutes. He said the brake inspection was just them being careful, but I don't buy that for a minute. Basically, they weren't making any money off of me that day because all I needed was a new rearview mirror. So they tried to trick me into buying services I didn't need nor want. I don't know if this is policy or the bad decision-making process of Dorsey Colby. When I got out to my car, they had also given me a car wash, but a terrible one. The whole right side of the car was still covered in salt and dirt like they just gave up after washing the left side. This is also something that took up time and something I didn't want nor ask for. If it's a matter of them "going above and beyond", then why did they do such a bad job with the car wash? I could have thrown a bucket of water over my car too.Overall, it's been a terrible experience every time I go to Evanston Subaru. I took my sister there back in 2012 to look at the Impreza. She was a long time Subaru owner and was looking to replace her 2003 Impreza wagon. But the sales person we were working with just didn't care at all. Maybe he was going through some personal hardship in his home life, but at one point he said something sarcastic and just gave up and stopped talking to us. So we left and went to Honda and they were awesome. My sister bought a Honda Fit which isn't really in the same class as the Impreza, but the experience was just so much better that she had to go for it. Now, she wants to replace her Honda Fit as it's too cheap on the inside, but she said the other day that she's never going to go to Evanston Subaru even if she decides to return to Subaru. I will never go back to Evanston Subaru for anything.

I found that this service center went above and beyond with wonderful friendliness. I had a dented front bumper, and someone tapped out the dent for me when I came in for an oil change! Dorsey has been super-efficient and helpful every time I've needed something done on my Subaru. Most recently she set me up to get the rear view mirror reattached to my windshield. I'd had trouble getting it done elsewhere last summer. When I called Dorsey last week, she knew what was needed, connected me with Parts, and then set me up with an appointment right away. Two days later I took the car in and it was all taken care of. I should have called Dorsey a few months ago!

I had just purchased a used Outback from this dealership only to discover that one of the headlamps wasn't working later that evening. I made a service appointment, and they replaced the lamp for no charge (as I would have expected). However, they also addressed a safety recall with the puddle lights that I wasn't aware of. Dorsey simply told me that they had already fixed it when she came to the waiting room to let me know the car was ready. The whole experience took less than 45 minutes. Nice work!

Just drove home my new 2014 Forester I brought from Rodd at Evanston Subaru in Skokie. I shopped around a lot, I contact about 4 other Subaru dealers and Rodd got me the best price. This dealership was really nice and everyone treated me with respected and seemed to like the fact that I purchased at their store. The store is almost new and they had lots of colors to pick. Unlike my area dealership (unnamed) but they had no, or only a few high priced Foresters. Work with Rodd if possible, he's a little older than the other salespeople around, but I found he was easy to talk to and not into that hard sell stuff.

Overall my experience at Evanston Subaru was pleasant and hassle free. Omar understood what I wanted. There were other BRZs on the lot, but Omar didn't push me to buy something I didn't want. It took a month for my Limited BRZ to be delivered. It was worth the wait for the Galaxy Blue. It seems like Subaru of America or Japan has discontinued Galaxy Blue for 2014. Personally I like the name because it goes along with Subaru being named after the constellation of Pleiades. I think the new name is Plasma Blue or something like that.

This visit basically was a very simple oil change. However, it was a follow up visit to a very difficult, dangerous event with my car. Dorsey is exemplary. SHe is excellent at her craft, but more importantly, her thoroughness and compassion is the reason I would recommend this dealership, and would probably return, when considering a new or used car. She is thorough but also concerned for the welfare of your clients. I had a very difficult experience returning 3 months ago from a trip from New Mexico. 2 engine valves ahd burned out due to a significant low oil capacity. (Major issue: WHY does NO check oil light come on to back up service needs? THere was NO warning on my Subaru before CHECK ENGINE light came on 3 hours from home! I was "down" 4 quarts of oil and had burned out 2 engine valves!) Dorsey has insisted in making sure that the repairs that were made have held, and that the residue has not "gunked up" the engine. Her concern for my welfare and safety is responsible for the loyalty I feel for your dealership. Buying a car is a one day experience. Owning a car and servicing it extends for years. I hope you have a recognizable recognition program for your golden employees, because Dorsey is platinum!

I bought a car from these guys in early june 2013. I felt that there were no gimmicks, weird sales tactics, or falsified information. I feel great about my purchase. The guys kindof gave me the run around for a while but when I let them know that I was in a hurry and I needed to know the lowest of the low prices, it was easier to negotiate. Genuine guys, clean dealership. My car wasn't well cared for as far as cleaning goes. The car was very dirty on the outside, I'd give it a 5 as cleanliness is concerned. Interior was a 7. When I purchased the car, they washed it and filled it up with petrol. Overall, I would purchase another vehicle from these guys. Pretty satisfied.

I had tested a new Forester at another dealer and really liked the extra legroom and the improved mileage over my current 012 Forester. After doing an internet search of the surrounding 200 mile area; I found an available silver 14 Forester with the options that I wanted and received an excellent e-price from Ethan Sparrow . I called Ethan and put a hold on the silver Forester and told him I had a 012 Forester to trade. So we left at 5:30 AM for the drive to Chicago. But I was truly surprised when we got to the showroom to see a red Forester on the floor which is the color we really wanted but all the red ones were either unavailable or in transit. So after talking with Ethan and getting an excellent trade-in price on the 012 forester. We started the paperwork and Ethan had the new red one prepped for delivery. We were back on the road home in less than 2 hours. This was truly a no-hassle for a car buying experience. This was the most enjoyable car buying experience I have had in 40 years. So overall I will be forced to give Ethan and Evanston Subaru all 5's since they don't have any 10's on the rating form. Thanks againBruce Endris

We saw the used car we were looking for on Cars.com so we decided to take a chance and drive 40 miles to Evanston Subaru. The moment we entered the showroom we were greeted by Bill Snowden. He said we needed to speak with Evan Paddor, internet Sales Manager. Evan told us the car we were interested in was on hold for another customer but he would call the customer to see if they were still interested in the vehicle. They were not, so we took a test drive. Evan let us take our time looking the car over. We eventually agreed on a fair price. While we waited for the finance department, Evan recommended a great restaurant very nearby. He called us our our cell phone when we were next in line. Our experience with Evanston Subaru was very favorable and I would definitely recommend the dealership to a friend or family member. The dealership dog and the remarkable fish tank only added to the family friendly atmosphere.

I was scheduled for an oil change and tire rotation but after Dorsey reviewed my service record on the dealership computer she recommended that I also replace the timing belt. This was a very expensive service ($1700) that is apparently needed every 6 years, just the age of my car. As I am going east for the summer and won't have easy access to a Subaru dealer, I agreed. She worked with me to reduce the price with dealer service coupons and arranged for me to have a free loaner car for the day. As we were reviewing the bill at the end of the day I noted that I had been charged for the rental car. Dorsey was able to delete that charge, after several phone calls to other folk at the dealership. I have had my car serviced by Evanston Subaru since I bought it from them in April 2007, other than an annual oil change in Massachusetts where I spend 4 months each summer. I must trust that what the intake personnel tell me is correct, as I have no way of knowing whether their recommendations are in my best interest or not. All in all I believe the Service Department is honest. trustworthy and willing to explain their recommendations to me in a clear and understandable way. I LOVE my Outback!

I got a report from Consumer Report concerning the Subaru Impreza Sport Limited. It gave me an evaluation concerning the car which was mostly good but pointed some things which should be considered during a demo drive in which we drove on city streets and also on the expressway. We found the car to be acceptable for our needs. This will be our fourth Subaru and we did have a problem with our second Subaru soon after we purchased it, but Subaru took complete care of that problem while we were on a trip out west and provided us with a rental car for a week while they repaired our car at no expense to us. We have had to travel to Minnesota in snowy and icy conditions when other cars were having problems and we had full confidence that our car was under control at all times. We feel we were dealt with fairly during the negotiations for our new Subaru.Impreza.i

Historically, my experience of buying a car has been somewhat of a painstaking process. Working with Evan and Rob Paddor, however, proved that buying a car could be a very positive experience. Evan and Rob listened to what I wanted and were respectful of my limitations. They were attentive and always made sure I was comfortable throughout the process. The purchase price of the vehicle was well below most competitors in the Chicagoland area and their offer on my trade was more than what I had been offered by other dealers. Overall, I am very satisfied with my experience at Evanston Subaru and would definitely return for future business. I would also highly recommend this dealership to others in the market for a Subaru.

I looked at new Subaru Forrester on line; the Evanston dealership was close and had exactly the vehicle I wanted. I was surprised at the low hassle and the rather mellow mood in the showroom. I asked some questions, looked at the vehicle and talked with my sales rep Evan. We really had a good conversation; not just about the car but about his work at the dealership, the world of customers and emerging car technologies. Actual negotiation was low-key; going on-line first had a lot of advantages. In less than 2 hours I had purchased a new Forrester ( I LOVE it), unpacked my old Forrester, which was crammed with belongings as I'm preparing a move out of the city, repacked everything into the new car, complete with my Chicago city sticker neatly transferred, and drove off the lot. Evan, by the way, offered boxes for my stuff and brought them himself. One day later I realized my garage door opener was still in the old Forrester. Again, Evan leggged it himself, combed the lot and found it. This car purchase was the easiest and nicest of my long car-buying career.

Ethan Sparrow was Adam's sales representative. Ethan was very professional and straight forward in his handling of both the purchase of the new car and evaluation of Adam's trade in vehicle. Adam selected the Subaru Impreza 5 door, it fits his lifestyle and budget. The loan process went smoothly as well. I am a Mercedes-Benz owner used to professional sales and service. I won't go into the all the details, because that isn't really what prompted me to write a review. There are always some issues/concerns with a vehicle purchase. Just suffice it to say, I was disappointed with the attention to detail given to many aspects of the vehicle purchase process and the subsequent response. If you offer a vehicle for sale, it should be prepared for purchase (clean, in good mechanical and operating condition, etc.) I emailed the sales person after purchase (one email) (who was always very friendly and helpful and not involved in this review) and got a harsh and somewhat threatening email from the owner of the dealership with words such as "terrorizing my business" and "take down posts immediately." I wasn't demanding anything, hadn't posted anything (yet.), I stated the facts and asked for some suggestions/solutions to my major concern as well as my personal experience with the process.I have purchased many vehicles (new & used) and understand the process. I chose a dealership vs. a smaller lot with the impression that a dealer takes more care/attention and provides a better overall product. For me, it is about treating me with respect, dignity and fairly on all aspects of a vehicle purchase from the initial look to the purchase and beyond.I do give high marks to Rob P. for speaking with me about the purchase on a timely basis.Do your due diligence on all aspects of the purchase.

I was in need of a vehicle, asap. When I drove on to the lot one night just before closing and found "the one". A 2003 VW Passat Wagon, I called the Dealership and left a voice-mail stating my interest. The following morning I got a call from Evan Paddor to follow up on my request. I read reviews on the dealership and I asked around my office if anyone had done business with Evanston Subaru before. As it turned out someone had, they said "you've gotta ask for Evan". I went to the dealership the very same day and met with Evan. He had the car pulled up in the front ready for me to take a test drive. I want to take a minute here to thank Evan and the mangers that helped me during my purchase and after. Everyone I have worked with has exhibited patience and professionalism. I was not the easiest customer to deal with, as I had lots of questions and boxes to check off of my list. They helped me ever step of the way. I have since recommended both Evan and Evanston Subaru to two other friends that are currently in the market. Not being someone that regularly writes reviews, I felt compelled to write this one. As not only were these guys great during the sale. They have been awesome post sale. Still patient in answering all my questions, going out of their way to find me the genuine VW parts I was looking for. To my surprise Evan even set me up with a 'loaner' car for a couple of days while I had some cosmetic work done on my car. The people are friendly, helpful and straight forward. I've never felt like they were hussling an un-needed service or part. It's also nice to be recognized when you bring you car in for service. They've gone out of their way to find me a "loaner" and,one time, a rental when the routine service was more than 4 hours. The service waiting area is pretty big and clean (even the women's washroom). There are plenty of magazine's to thumb through & free coffee or hot chololate, if needed. They've brought in some toys for poeple with small kids who wait while their cars are being serviced. My daughter loves Sunny the office Bulldog. Nice touch. My only complaint is I miss their old neighborhood. It's not very pedestrian where they are.So, "YES"! Very happy with my experiences so far. This is a new dealership for me, as I have been a loyal customer of Bredeman Ford for the past decade. The only reason I left that dealership was that I wanted a car, similar in size to the car I was giving up, but with better gas mileage. I emailed the owner, Rob Podor, to express my dissapointment about their access to night drop off for service work. They do have a drop box, however, when I arrived at about 10pm the gates where locked. I could not get on to the lot, I had to drive up and over a median in order to get on to the lot. Additionally, all exterior lights were off, I had to fill out the envelop by the light of my cell phone.Rater than apologize, for the inconvenience, Mr. Pador chose instead to blame me and insult me. This is a snippet from his response... "To judge my operation because you became confused with an after hours drop off, is unfair".There is nothing confusing about locked gates and a darkened building. We recieved similar treatment from Ray Eichenlaub, the service manager, while having service work done when they where actually located in Evanston. In numerous phone conversations with Mr. Eichenlaub, while trying to resolve a recurring problem we were having with our Forester (ABS Light), he was repeatedly rude and condescending and even tried to blame us for the problem when they couldn't figure it out.The lack of professionalism, and the condescending and arrogant attitude we experienced from this company is shocking.

I'm extremely surprised at all of these negative reviews everyone has given Evanston Subaru. My experience there was nothing but positive! I emailed Mike (manager) about a car my mom was interested in and got a great deal on it. We still went to other dealerships to see what they could offer and no one could touch Evanston's price. It unfortunately was sold before we had a chance to look at it though (2012 Impreza which are selling like crazy!). But, Mike was able to find another car and have it at the dealership on Monday (we were there on Saturday). My mom even liked the new car better. Omar himself (the salesman)went to pick it up and drive it back to the dealership, on Sunday! Once the car arrived, the rest of the process went smoothly and she is now enjoying her new car. Evanston Subaru is the only dealership around the area that I would recommend if you are looking for a new or used Subaru. Just brought my car from Evan Paddor. I knew the prices from shopping on-line and Evan gave me the best deal I could find. The dealership is brand new and has a lot of Subarus in stock. My new Subaru rocks.

Went to possibly buy a car and found salespeople were instead talking about a baseball game. When one salesman finally decided to help me, he led me to a loaded model even though I told me I was interested in a base model. I got frustrated and walked out. I won't buy from this dealer.

I wasn't greeted by the salesman at the dealership; they were busy with personal conversations. When I got their attention they ignored my interests to show me a more expensive model car.

When I went to the dealer the two sales guys were more interested in the cubs game than selling me a car. They showed my an upsell to a more expensive.

We bought our 1st Outback from Evan at the old dealership & had an excellent buying experience but service was always a hassle because of a small garage. We bought our 2nd Outback at the new dealership, again from Evan, & love the new garage. We could get service closer but go out of our way.

My husband and I purchased a 2011 Outback from Evanston Subaru. We were immediately greeted when we came in by the sales manager, Mike. He was extremely personable. Omar was our salesperson, and we found him to be very straightforward and easy to work with. We're very pleased with our experience.

I had over 10 emails with their internet sales manager about a vehicle we were interested in (the same day we came in). We made the drive up there, having worked everything out, and were in the car for a test drive when he told us the car had just been sold to someone else. We had been called on our way to make sure we were coming to get this car too. Ridiculous.

if I was the owner of this dealership, Evan Poddar will be out. He is the rudest, most condescending, arrogant SOO (Son of the owner) I have seen. He should be glad that he is the owners kid. Okay may be its just the owners kid but not really Benny the other older guy was truly condescending as well. what is going on? Don't get all rude and angry with me because you don't know how to interact with humans. THe price is at least 1000$ more than the autobarn at countryside. Talk to them before coming to this dealership. They are POS that are not worth your business and money.

I absolutely hated the feeling coming out of this dealership. We have been there 2 times now and both times the customer service is just absolutely terrible. Whatever happened to 'customer is king'? I felt terrible after talking with the people there. Papa poddar was nice initially and when we did not want to discuss the finance options turned hostile. Poddar Jr is a hyper, agressive, abrasive individual. Even if it means I don't have a new car, I will never ever go to this dealership again. Avoid if you can.

I don't usually write reviews, but I was shocked to see the negative reviews of this dealership. I got a great deal on a barely used 2010 Forester in November 2010. Everyone I talked to in the process of buying my car was friendly and professional. We negotiated a little, but I had done my research and they really were offering a very fair deal up front. None of the usual car salesman lines. The only negative experience in buying my car was on my trade-in. I had been side-swiped by a drunk driver a few years before and had to have a lot of body work done. The car looked great, but the car fax tanked the value. You know how you always hear to check the car fax before you buy a used car? It works the other way, too. I felt like they were being honest and fair, but you always wonder. Well, my husband found my car for sale a month or so after we traded it in. Based on what it was listed for at this other dealership, Evanston Subaru couldn't have made much, if any, money on it. I know I got a fair deal. Since then, I've brought my Subaru in to the service department for regular maintenance. Everyone, from the person who checked me in and explained what was done, the guy who drove me to the CTA (I usually drop it off before work, and pick it up after and someone there will take you to the train and then pick you up), right down to the cashiers has been very friendly and helpful.

This company is truly rude, aggressive, and just plain mean to their customers. We went in at first, had a nice conversation with salesman, then when we came back to do business, the "closer" (mean guy) came over. We had a written price quote from another dealership, but he wouldn't budge, reminding us "we've come down $1000 from sticker" (like ANYONE pays sticker price in the world. He was then rude to us, in countless ways. FINALLY, he said (arrogantly), "If you can get that price, bring me the car and the receipt and i'll give you $100 cash. We did, and we did, and then he hemmed and hawed and said that's not what he meant, and found ways not to give us the money he'd promised. These are the MOST typical, low-brow, tough-sell, stereotypical car dealers we've ever seen. GO ELSEWHERE, Mid-CIty or even Grand in Bensenville is worth it and much nicer.

NEVER NEVER NEVER go here.Ever since I first came here to get my car fixed due to an ocurring oxygen sensor malfunction, I have been nothing but dissapointed. My problems started at their old location in actual Evanston when I took my car in to get my O2 sensor replaced and replaced and replaced. They kept saying that as long as it goes out they will keep reaplacing it. My old dealer in Michigan said the same thing and that they didnt know what caused it, but since I paid for it to get replaced once, they will replace it whenever it happens again. It has since gone out a dozen times. I then took my car on a road trip to Denver and the same thing happened before I even left Chicago. The dealer in Denver said that there is clearly something causing it to go out. That makes sense, fine.I then take it here and they have the nerve to NOW tell me that it is my electrical hub that needs to be replaced to the tune of $2500!!!! They never told me this the countless times I've had my car in there to have the O2 senser replaced before.Thats still not even the main reason why I'm upset. Over the years I've had problems with my radio turning on by itself, the volume going up and down by itself, and the cd player kicking on while the radio is on. I asked Chris, one of the service guys, if I replace all the wiring will this solve the problem with my radio. His response was "Yes, it will cover any of the electronics". During the last couple of weeks my radio has been spazzing out again so I took it back again. Keep in mind I was there 2 months ago to get all of my electrical wiring replaced. I told Chris what was happening and he said that I will have to pay to have my radio replaced. He also said that he did'nt remember saying anything about the radio before. He then asked one of his techs about the radio and the tech said that that my year of my Outback (2005) has had numerous problems with the radio. I then left so upset and decided to call the service manager Ray. He said the same thing and that I would have to pay to replace the radio. he also said that Chris would never of said that about my radio. So in other words he was saying that what I said wasn't true. He then proceeded to start yelling at me like a little child and said "our discussion is over" and basically hung up on me. He refused to pay for my radio after the fact that I dropped nearly $3000 for a problem that has been going on after I had my car for only 2 years. On a seperate note, once they put my dashboard back on from re-wiring my car, there is nothing but excessive rattling from a botched job. They did offer to take a look at it. 1. I don't have countless hours to wait on something that they should have fixed properly the first time and 2. I will never have Evanston Subaru touch my car again. I will much rather pay a trustworthy body shop to replace my dash then go back here again.Words of wisdom: If you ever have anyone in the service department tell you something, get it in writing or else you'll regret it later.

I forward some price quotes to this dealship and they told me about their new, very expensive, complex and how they have a party on Saturday to show off the complex. They also mentioned about how they are biggest sellers of Subaru in all Illinois and how they have the most selections. He gave me all the BS in the world and then made a comment that my quote from the dealership is unreal and if I want to jump on board with them. Ugh, HELL NO! Maybe if you stop having parties and building big new complexs, you can save your customers some money.

These guys do the job, sort of. In two different visits to the service department the mechanics, while nice enough, were absent-minded and forgot to replace a cover plate under the car requiring a return trip, in addition to lack of cleanliness resulting in twice getting grease or oil on the interior of the brand new car. Unfortunately they are the only Subaru dealer in town. Not the highest of regard in comparison to some of the other dealers I have been to across the country.
