This place is exceptional. The people working in the service department are kind, informed, and great at what they do. Frustrated with my closest dealer in Massachusetts, I've driven all the way back home to here to get something done with my car that the Boston dealer couldn't seem to figure out. This is a very honest place to get your car serviced and I trust that they're doing it better than anyone else I could go see. I wish I lived closer! Thank you!!

I can not speak higher of my experience with Five Star Subaru. Yesterday my husband and I bought a 2021 Subaru Forester. The transaction went so smooth. Leading up to my appointment car salesmen; Jeff Allen and Jonathan Ellis kept in touch with me and answered all of my questions. They saved the vehicle I wanted and didn’t show it to anyone till I got there. I provided a $200 refundable deposit that reserved the car; well worth it since it was the only one on the lot that was the model and line I wanted. (Due to COVID there inventory is lower than usual) When we go there Jeff took us out to the car and went over the many features you get when buying a Subaru. He gave us great directions for our test drive; that took us on a little bit of every terrain. While we were on our test drive they went over my trade in and determined a great trade in value. We went inside and crunched some numbers and then we headed to lunch while they got the new car all dolled up and prepared all of the paper work. They did it all. I didn’t have to do anything but sign. Jeff even hooked up our phones to the new car before we left. Our experience was phenomenal and we would recommend anyone in the market for a Subaru to Five Star Subaru. Talk to Jeff Allen and tell him we sent you.

Hands-down this is the best dealership I have ever worked with. I wanted a direct and open buying process, which I made clear initially and that is exactly what I got. My salesperson (Trina) and the financial office were incredibly helpful and accommodating. I have brought my car here repeatedly for oil changes and recently for brakes and other minor maintenance and am always treated well. The waiting rooms and comfortable and there is one with a t.v. and one without, which I really appreciate since I always have work to do. There is also good wifi, free snacks and caffeine. If you have to wait you may as well be comfortable. I feel like I received excellent value with my vehicle and highly recommend this dealership. I now wouldn't want to go anywhere else.

I have always like 5 Star Subaru in Oneonta. I have bought 3 Subarus from them and have always serviced them there. I like the service department and what I saw as a code of unparalleled customer service. But I will not longer use them. I went to them last week to buy a new Subaru Forrester 2014 to replace my 2005 Subaru. I was also considering a Ford Escape and was impressed with that car. I had talked with Jeff Allen on the phone and then asked for him when I went to 5 Star to look at the 2014 Forrester. I was leaning toward the Escape until he pointed out that it had performed poorly on a crash test on which the Forrester had performed best. But the extra bells and whilstles on the Ford were still a consideration from a safety standpoint. So price became a deciding factor. Jeff said 5 Star was taking about $1500 off the price of the Forrester and would give me $3000 for my old one. Ford was giving me $2000 off the top and $4000 for my old Subaru.While I tried to get him to match the Ford offer on the trade-in, the bottom line price he quoted to me and gave me in writing was $3000 less than the Ford quote. I asked him specifically and clearly, "Does this price included taxes?" His reply: "That includes everything." I said I would take the Subaru but, by this time, the finance person had gone home. I put $5000 down on the car and said I couldn't return to pick up the car until the end of the first week in August, so Jeff said he would bring the car to me in two days because he wanted to count it in the July sales. Sounded good to me.Jeff called the next day to say he would arrive with the car by 11:00 Friday morning. I said that was fine--I just had a conference call at 1:00. Around 10:30, I got a call from Jeff saying that he was going to be late because of traffic but would be here by 11:30. At 11:30 or thereabouts, he called and said he would be later (the drive would be about 1.25 hours from the delaership to my house). I said fine and reminded him of my conference call at 1:00. He said he would be at my house by 12:30 and would only need 10 minutes of my time. He arrived at 12:52. He oriented me quickly to some of the car basics and then I had to get onto my call (I was leading it) and tell the participants to proceed without me for about 10 minutes. Jeff then asked me to sign the paperwork he brought. When I went to sign the loan form, I noticed that the loan was for almost $3000 more than I had expected. When I looked at the details, I saw that he had added the tax onto the quoted bottomline price, along with other fees. I told him this was not the price we had agreed to. He claimed he never said that the price included taxes, pulled out his copy of the quote he gave me, and said that he had not included the taxes. That form showed a top line price, the trade-in deduction, and the bottom line number he had given me at the dealership. Hehad written in on the tax line on the form "8%" but entered nothing next to it, reinforcing the impressing that the price included taxes.I called his manager, Blaine, who gave me the same run-around as Jeff. They both responded to my challenge of their truthfulness by pointing out the deduction they had given me off the top. I said that wasn't the point. I should have told Jeff to take the car back but I didn't have more time to waste on trying to find another dealership and going through more negotiations. I told Blaine that I had always held 5 Star in high esteem but that this experience had shown me why car dealers had a rotten reputation. I no longer trust 5 Star and will never buy a car from them again. I've also found another place to take my new car for servicing. So 5-Star has lost my business. I talked with a friend who recently bought a new car from 5 Star and had a similar experience (not tied up in the taxes but in lack of full disclosure and playing with the numbers so that you end up paying more than you were originally told the car would cost). She also will no longer buy cars from them.

I purchased a used 2006 Hyundai Elantra from Five Star in June and I couldn't be happier! Despite the fact that I didn't purchase a Subaru, they treated me no different! My salesperson Joe was nothing but kind and well oriented. After purchasing the vehicle, my CD player was not in top shape and they replaced it with a gorgeous aftermarket for no cost! The service team is also something to amaze, the waiting rooms are clean and stocked, and they even have a gazebo for us outdoor lovers! I am always catered to and would recommend Five Star to everyone!

I drove all the way from Binghamton to Five Star Subaru in Oneonta because the Matthews salesman lied to us, and the salesman at Maguire in Ithaca couldn't be bothered to call me back. The Five Star salesman responded very quickly to emails, and big surprise - their website was up to date! They had the car we wanted in stock, we made an appointment, the car was ready for a test drive when we arrived. We were able to complete the deal that morning and drive the car home that same day! No hassle, no arm-twisting on financing or warranties, the best buying experience I've ever had!

Bought a 2012 Subaru Outback from 5 Star Subaru, slightly used vehicle. We had a very positive experience from our Salesman, Luke Dolezel. I would highly recommend him. Five Star is a good name, because their service is "5 Star." My family keeps coming back to purchase vehicles, and have them serviced because staff is always helpful, courteous and competent. My family has bought two vehicles here and very satisfied with service received. Service Department is always helpful and take whatever time necessary to answer any questions or provide advice. Considering they use the quality Subaru parts, their service prices seem very competitive and sometimes even cheaper than non-Subaru alternatives. Currently considering buying an additional vehicle, and sales crew has been very helpful, particularly salesman Jeff Allen, who was very responsive to questions, even checking out availability of optional equipment, including checking prices with other local equipment suppliers. Jeff, as well as other members of the sales department have been very helpful and patient, even when discussing sales near the close of the business day. They do not make a potential buyer feel rushed, which is something I cannot say about several other dealerships in the area. My experience has been that 5-Star staff will take whatever time it takes to answer questions, provide information and discuss a sale, even if sale is not completed. All facilities are clean and comfortable, when waiting for vehicle servicing to be completed.

I went to buy my 3rd Subaru from this dealership recently and I always have a good experience. The staff is always accommodating and helpful. I also receive all my service on my Subaru's at this dealership and they have always done a good job. The service staff are very friendly, they offer the use of iPads which I find pretty cool. They also have great coffee and snacks.

I was in the process of purchasing a 2012 Audi A6 and I called to negotiate a price that was offered to me by another dealership. The sales person tried to sell me a car for a slightly lower price and half the features(MSRP was lower by $4000). The sales person was very rude and he never answered his phone calls directly. Additionally he kept asking what price will it take to close this deal without even matching the price I was offered by the other location. Thanks but no thanks

Beginning of this year (2012) i started looking for a new Audi Q5 and i did most of my research online and the best deal i got was from Oneonta VW-Audi.The salesperson i worked with was Seth Wakeman, he was very helpful and prompt ins responding to calls.Most of the negotiation i did it thru phone and after finializing the deal i went and picked up new car.I tried to also get a trade in for my honda accord but i didnt get a good price there so i decided to sell it by myself and that was a good decision.

After hearing that my current car would take more than it is worth to be fixed I decided to look into a used car. I really like the Mazda 3, but unfortunately the car had been sold before I called. The salesman I spoke with was very kind and offered me other car options. After taking my car to the dealer garage to be looked at they told me that my car could be fixed and it would be a lot cheaper just to get it done there, so I am no longer in need of a new car.
