Let me first say that I generally dislike the car buying process. BUT…Gerald Subaru changed that. Kenneth was our salesman, and he was great. SUPER knowledgeable about every single spec the car has. Ask for him if you come here. Jay the sales manager…the most straight forward and honest car sales manager I’ve ever experienced. The whole Gerald team was great. A great car buying experience!

When I in the early stages of looking for a car I stopped by the Subaru dealership and was greeted by Jeff Racine. I explained to Jeff that I was not in any hurry to purchase a car. That I am the type of person that needs to research, review, come back test drive again, and again before I make my final choice. He respected and understood my car buying process. I came back many times and Jeff always made me feel welcomed and never pressured me to purchase. As a matter of fact, he encouraged me to keep coming back. And I did. One time when I stopped by for an additional test drive, Jeff was not working on that particular day. I met Sean and explained that I was currently working with Jeff and that maybe I should stop by the following day when Jeff would be in. Sean explained to me that they work together as a team and that I was welcomed to take another test drive and that he didn't mind helping me. Very impressive! Another time I stopped by and Jon answered some additional questions and Ryan Bravi answered all of my finance questions. How many dealerships have that type of teamwork? I LOVE my new Subaru and so does my family, friends and neighbors, I can't say enough great things about my experience at Gerald Subaru, my personal salesperson Jeff, and the actual purchasing experience was exceptional as well.Even after purchasing the car Gerald has exceeded expectations. I stopped by the other day and had a question about a feature, Jeff was outside and immediately greeted me and showed me exactly what to do. He said to stop by anytime if I have additional questions, and I know he meant that and we both know I will. Thanks Gerald Subaru for making this car buying experience very pleasant. I'm THRILLED!

My salesman Dan was very kind listened to me in what I wanted, when the car I drove wasn't the right color for me but I liked the way it drove he wanted me to drive a different car but it was out of my budget and he listened to me. He didn't say wait till you drive this one we walked away from that one and we moved on to other options till I got exactly what I needed. He was patient and for the first time in my 30 plus years of car buying it didn't turn my stomach. I didn't feel bullied or intimidated. My car was in transit not on the lot, so I would have to wait a few weeks to get it that was ok by me but Dan knew I was excited so his manager Theo worked on getting my car. Talk about customer service, Dan drove 50 miles to get my car and bring it back. I was so excited when they called me to tell me my car was there. I am not very good with electronics like phone and music gadgets but Dan took as long as it took to make sure my phone contacts were loaded and I knew how to play my music using all the buttons, showing me how everything worked. I felt like I met a new friend and not someone who was just selling cars.

I couldn't decide between Forester or Outback. Once I decided on the Outback Jon worked with me on my needs for options on the vehicle and price. So happy about my experience and purchase. Only downfall is the light tan interiors turn blue from your jeans (new or old). Thats on most cars now and I was not aware of that.

Yes that title is a bit of a grandiose claim, but keep reading...My wife and I have purchased over fifteen cars together. We are first time Subaru buyers and were hesitant about Subaru's take it or leave it little "dealing" reputation. I am used to domestic (GM) dealerships and "dealing" being part of the process. I purchased a 2014 XV Crosstrek having done a great deal of research on all Subaru's lines and eight other domestic/foreign vehicle brands. When I called to make an appointment and arrived at the dealership, John was our salesman and there was no fight...about anything. I told him the specific car I wanted, they arranged for delivery to the dealership (it was a reasonable trade distance), and made the purchase smooth. Remember folks, this is a business transaction, so be professional if you expect the salespeople to be professional. Bring all your documents and paperwork and arrange financing, downpayment, etc. AHEAD OF TIME. When YOU (the customer) do not do this, YOU make the experience bad, not the salesman/woman. John is VERY COMPETENT in every step of the process. He behaves like a professional and an adult while still being fun to interact with. No "bro" or "salesman" personas here. When my Subaru burns out, I 'm going back to John for the next sale. In my experience he is better than salespeople at other Chicagoland Subaru dealerships (we shopped around from Northshore to the Southside and West Suburbs). Thanks John! Was looking to lease a vehicle for my son who just got his license and leaving IL for athletics. Picked a couple vehicles out from their inventory and asked for some lease offers. I dealt with a new salesperson so I spoke directly with the manager, Scott Wolf. Told me the Legacy was the better lease option at that particular time so picked my color and options, got numbers that were fair and off I went. I brought my son in and Francisco went over the car completely with him. Very professional and will be an asset to Gerald. Have bought all my new vehicles from Gerald whether a Subaru or Nissan and will continue to do so and always refer friends and family. Great job again!!

UPDATE:I previously wrote the review below. Have to amend it because the Service Manager saw my review here and immediately reached out to me to make it right. I was impressed with his professionalism and patience. Thank you Dave!This review is actually for the Service Department. I'm on my 3rd lease from this place and my lease comes with 2 free oil changes. I used the first one and at the time, I asked the clerk to confirm the date by which I needed to get the 2nd. She said as long as I come before end of year, it should be fine. So I made an appointment and again explained the situation to the man who made the appointment and he said yes, they should honor it. My husband took the car today to the appointment because I'm at home with our sick baby and the man at the dealer said no, they will not honor it and he would be charged $100. My husband left and called me, I called the dealer and the man I spoke to refused to help. He said my husband could pay or I can try the service manager who isn't in until Monday. Now, I live a good 40 minutes from this place, the only reason I've gone back to purchase or lease again and again has been because of the customer service.Well, I guess this guy doesn't care that I will never give this dealership my business again.

We dropped by the dealership around 7:00 on a Wednesday (?) and caught Jon at the end of his shift. We had talked with him before but hadn't taken a good look at cars up until then. Jon showed us various options that fit our somewhat limited situation, and we left late in the evening with a high quality, used Prius that we're very happy with. Jon was very knowledgeable about the cars and was pleasant to work with. A tip for buyers, though: make sure you check the website for prices. The Prius we found was cheaper there than how it was listed on the lot, and we saved money after we brought that to Jon's attention.

Was shopping around the Chicago area for a new 2015 Subaru Legacy. With the options I wanted, these aren't easy to come by just sitting on the lot. Made initial contact with dealerships going through the internet sales channel, getting prices where vehicles close in spec were available. I wasn't impressed with the prices being offered.Gerald Subaru North Aurora is close to my house but they had none available for sale. I'd contacted Dan Clark, the Internet Manager. I wanted to test drive a Legacy and he confirmed they did have some service loaners available and I could come take a ride.So I showed up and took a ride with Mohamed Aly. I explained exactly what I was looking for. Dan did some digging and found they had one coming in for delivery in a couple of weeks, but it didn't 100% meet my needs. Dan found another local area dealer also getting one in a couple of weeks, that exactly matched my needs. They gave me a price on this vehicle and I was completely impressed! I asked them to try and make the trade with the other dealer. The next day, they confirmed the car was mine. I came and paid the deposit as soon as possible. I was supposed to have to wait a couple of weeks, but got an early call from Mohamed stating my vehicle was at the other dealer. Mohamed personally took the Gerald trade vehicle to the other dealer, and picked up my new Legacy and drove it back to Gerald himself!I came in that night to make the deal. There were no surprises on the price, fees, or financing. I didn't even bother trying to get a better price. The price was already great and the experience with everyone was amazing, so why would I? We made the deal and I finished off with Ferris Spikener, which was also a simple, efficient process. They even gave me an additional protection plan with the vehicle for some cosmetic issues for a few years. That was awesome too! And they let my 15 month old run around, scream, and gave her a balloon. :)When I went to take delivery, we found some scratches on the vehicle. I had about 6 people coming out to look at the scratches and try and resolve the issue right then and there. A buff was initially attempted, but wasn't able to fix the scratches 100%. Everyone promised that this would be taken care of, they gave me a new "we owe" contract, and stated I'd be contacted within a week to schedule the scratch repairs.I received a call from Jacqueline within the week to schedule my repairs. I also mentioned to Jacqueline that I found more similar scratches on the roof, and that I have an issue with the dashboard looking warped. She stated no problem and they'd take care of it all when I come in next week. I also get a loaner when I come in for this visit, which is a bonus! I will update this review after my visit next week regarding this service. But otherwise, the sales process and price was a great experience. I'd absolutely buy again from these guys, and highly recommend them!

I went in to buy a car on recommendations from a family friend and the sales manager was atrocious. I was absutely offended by him telling me if I wanted the amount on my trade I should just "sell it to my bank". Why would I sell a car to my bank that is loaning it to me? They already own the title. And to suggest that I was crazy to think any dealer would give me the price on my trade was also insulting. I brought in numbers from another dealer and asked to have them matched or bettered and instead of declining politely he said "then why didn't you take the deal with them?" I am seriously offended at the way he insulted my intelligence and tried to look down on me. I will NEVER go back and I would never tell anyone to go there.

I first brought the car back to Gerald Subaru which is where I purchased it, and they were unable to fix the problem and unable to explain what was wrong with the car. Because they did such a poor job with the service and explanation of the service, I have since chosen to take the car (which has less than 1000 miles on it) to another dealership and they have been more helpful, however, the problem still exists. The salesperson that sold me the car emailed me one week after I bought the car to check-in, and I responded back explaining how unsatisfied I was that I had to take a brand new car in for service at 500 miles. I never got a response back which tells me that he didn't care. I would NOT recommend Gerald Subaru of North Aurora to anyone, and I will be going out of my way to make sure NONE of my friends and family ever buy a Subaru because of the awful experience and lack of knowledge/compassion that exists at Gerald Subaru and Subaru overall.

I appreciated how quickly Dan Clark replied to online questions and the clarity of the information I was given by him and the others I dealt with there. Even though the Evanston Subaru is 5 minutes from my home, they were not willing to negotiate on the price at all. Dan was able to give me what I wanted at the price I wanted, so to me, it was worth the hour it took to drive from Evanston to Aurora, and I would encourage others to do the same!Chris Taylor was extremely helpful in finalizing what I wanted and Rene Peyton did a very thorough and professional job helping me with the paperwork. I had been dealing with Kathy Wong (Internet Sales) for some time and found her to be very friendly and helpful. When it came time for my wife and I to purchase a new vehicle we reached out to Kathy because she had been so helpful. I gave Kathy all of our trade in information over the phone and she gave me a ball park number based on information provided to her by her used car manager. Based on the number given, I decided to go in and purchase a 2013 Forester for my wife. I found the vehicle we wanted on their website and Kathy confirmed that the vehicle was in stock so I told her I would be at their lot within 30 minutes. I let her know that time is at a premium for me as we have a new born. I was clear that any deal would have to be done fast. I packed up my 6 month old daughter and headed out in the snow! After getting to the dealer, Kathy informed me that the car was at their Naperville lot and it was en route. This was frustrating to me as I was excited to see the car. After waiting for about 30 minutes, Lee Cuomo came to get my keys to have a closer look at our trade in. Lee didn't say anything except "Keys please.", he took them and walked off. At that point I figured Lee was a mechanic and just not good with people. After ~20 minutes, Lee came back in with a folded up piece of paper. He sat my daughter and I down and gave me a trade in number that was $2K less than I was quoted online. I was obviously surprised and told him that he was off. Lee seemed offended at this and asked me what I meant. I let him know that my wife came down to a Jeep Grand Cherokee or a Subaru Forester as her two car choices. I let him know that St Charles Jeep/Dodge/Chrysler had offered us $3K more than him for the trade in, and as a result he was off in the deal. Lee immediately laughed and said "That doesn't even make sense, they aren't even the same kind of cars. A Jeep and a Subaru?" I told Lee that I would appreciate it if he kept his opinion of my wife's new car choices to himself. He again stated that it made no sense. My response to that was "Hey, keep your commentary to yourself." From there, Lee stood up and proclaimed in an angry tone "I'll also keep my car to myself" - and stormed off. From there, I asked for my car's keys back. I packed up my 6 month old and I left. The next day, I called Grand Subaru and purchased a Forester from Bill Neilis. The great thing is that Grand Subaru's price was $2K less than Gerald's price. They also gave me a $1K more than Lee quoted me on the trade in. My total savings was $3K. I'm glad that Lee kept the car for himself. He ended up saving me a lot of money. To summarize, it was a horrible experience. I can't imagine someone talking to a potential customer like Lee did. Let alone a customer holding a 6 month old baby girl.

The thing that intrigued us about Subaru is the all-wheel drive as I drive country roads to/from work. Jose V. was our salesman. Here is where our good luck started - the person that greeted us was Dan Racine. Right the beginning of our conversation with Dan it was obvious that he was one of those rare sales people that truly love their profession and believe in the product that they are selling. After being a purchasing manager for the last 24 years, I tend to be a hard sell. Dan made short work of all my reservations. He explained everything to our satisfaction and made all my demands - no matter how unreasonable - happen. Since 2010 we have purchased 3 new Subaru's from Dan, and all the transactions went as well as the first one did. Not only did we walk away with the cars we wanted, at the price we wanted, but we no longer have to go thru the grueling 4 to 5 hour negotiating sessions that any trip to a car dealer always ended with.

We have been dealing with the Gerald Family since 1957 with Bob, then Jeff & Neil. My father started with all the Mercury Wagons with Bob at the Skokie, IL dealership.I chose my 1st Japanese car from this dealer because I was pressured at their Naperville, IL dealership and everything from the word go was professional. Dan Clark was a class act and Alicia did everything to make sure that it was a smooth transaction. It was unfortunate that she was not with the company about 1 week after the delivery of my car but know people change jobs.I bought a 2012 new Impreza 5-door with the sports trim and love the car.I stopped over at the dealer to have them just look at a tire that I had to have fixed because of road hazard to double check the tire and everything checked out and with no charge.I would give this dealer a 5 star rating. The added feature of a lifetime warranty for the drive train was also a deciding feature in going to this dealer. I had another offer for $100.00 less and that dealer told me things that were not true at all.I would highly recommend to talk to Dan Clark from the internet sales and get a sales person who's personality matches yours. I walked away from Naperville since the salesman tried to push me into buying the day I came in to just look. I told him I would buy the car from North Aurora since it was close to my home and he told me that Jeff Gerald had nothing to even do with his dealership. I called Jeff and told him and we made the deal that I should go over to North Aurora and talk to Dan Clark and he would find me a nice sales person who would not pressure me.The experience was great and now in the last 3 years our family with this car have bought 3 cars from their various dealerships.

The sales department was terrific. I was able to take several test drives and narrow the options I wanted. Although the 2012 car I wanted wasn't on the lot, they were able to locate a model within the state. When it arrived, it was actually missing one feature I desired because another dealer mis-represented the car's features. Dan worked with the service department to have it installed before I picked up the car for delivery and at the price we initially negotiated. The service department was the initial reason I came to Gerald. My previous Subbie was kept in great working condition for over 9 years. The Green Team does an awesome job and is always helpful in finding a way to fit into my schedule, whether its a first in the morning appointment or the need to have a loaner car. Gerald is a fantastic dealership.

Mr Bob Shewalter done a great job working with me. He did not give me any pressure in buying a new car. I was ready to by the OUTBACK but he suggested the Lagacy would be much better for us because getting in and out of the car would be much better for us. We bought two new Subaru's thru Jose and it was a good experience. He is knowledgable and is up to date on the cars features. He described the pro and con of the different trim levels and what you got. The price we negotiated was lower than the other Subaru dealers I priced. I have been buying cars thru this dealer for ten years and they have always written up the deal as we agree on. They did not try to tack on hidden charges. My whole extended family have bought thru them and all have had decent results. Total all of us have purchased 10 new Subaru's thru them.

Best car purchasing experience I have had. I started by getting Internet prices from most of the Chicago area Subaru dealers. Gerald came back very competitive. Then I visited and I enjoyed talking with Dan - there was no pressure - just lots of information. Then his price was so good I didn't even haggle with him - it was better than the consumer reports price guide said it should be. I am not accustomed to no haggle! The car I wanted was not in stock, but it was such a great experience and great price I decided to wait a few weeks for one to come in. Then my financing experience was great too. Helpful but not pushy in any way. I would definitely go back and will recommend to my friends. I am very pleased.

In December 2011, my boyfriend and I went to Subaru of North Aurora with the hopes to find a vehicle that would fit our needs. When we pulled into the lot there were several sales associates standing outside to greet customers. David Webb was actually waving. When we saw this,we decided he was our guy. He greeted us with a firm handshake and asked us what our objective was for our visit today. We said that we were interested in buying a Subaru but weren't sure which one. He explained in great detail the differences per vehicle. We asked if we could test drive the four cars we were interested in. He set us up with the first car.We did our test drive and drove back to the lot,finding Dave standing there ready to go with the next one.Dave went on to explain how Subaru put safety first into their cars.He also told us how the manufacturing process was done and the attention to detail as it went down the line.We decided to buy the Legacy Limited and now having owned it for 2 days we are very impressed and pleased knowing we made the right decision. Our buying experience with Dave was second to none. Every step of the way was explained and painless. At the delivery has sat in the back seat and explained all of the functions of the car. I originally came into the dealership in January with my wife, just looking to gather info about potential cars I may be interested in. Erik Johnson was very helpful in showing me several cars and taking me out for test drives. Erik spent a good amount of time with me even after we explained we were just looking. I came back a month later and Erik was very helpful and patient with us. We ended up getting a 2010 Subaru Outback in excellent condition. The car is like brand new and we saved a ton. I love this car and am glad I took the time to try out all the competitors. Nothing compares to my Outback! Thanks Erik!

While I had an idea of what I wanted when I went car shopping, the salesman, David Webb, was exceptionally patient during my search. He showed me everything I wanted to see; answered all of my questions; and had no problem with my wanting to test drive one of the cars more than once. He acted as my "devil's advocate" and helped me to consider every aspect of both cars I was looking at. I went with the Outback over the Forester (just barely) and have never been more satisfied. I will definitely return to Gerald Subaru for my next new automobile; and hopefully David Webb will still be there to assist me with that purchase.

I own a 2000 Subaru Outback with almost 217,000 miles on it. I bought it new, and started taking it to Gerald in North Aurora soon after I purchased it. Brian has been a gem to work with. He is honest, and has told me when I DON'T need something. He's friendly, and trustworthy. I totally trust taking this car to this dealership, and to Brian specifically, for service. Great car, and great service!!

Started looking for a car in April, with Gerald, since I had bought a car from them a year ago, and they were the closest dealer. I hadn't had the best experience, but wanted to give them a chance. What a fiasco! I recommend running the other way.

We had a great experience buying our vehicle. We also had them install a remote start system. The service department was fast and great service. We bought the 2011 subaru outback couldn't be happier with the car we bought and the service we received. The sales person took us out on many different test drives as when we started we didn't even know which subaru we liked. He is very patient and informative.

Walked into Gerald Nissan without the serious intention of buying a car. Test drove a few and decided I really liked the Nissan Juke. Brian & the Business Manager high-balled a price, I said "thanks but no thanks" and they miraculously came back with a monthly payment $100 lower - as long as I purchased on the spot. Not one to make a financial decision without the wife's input, said "thanks for your time." Went back the next day (Saturday). Brian was with another customer & suggested I walk around the showroom a bit...an hour & a half later, I left. He called & explained coming in first thing in the AM would have been better. Regardless, went back and low & behold the one-day-only offer still stood. After the deal was done, I hopped in the car and realized a few things were missing - floor mats and an owner's manual. I asked Brian about them & he informed me that floor mats didn't come with the car & he'd have to order the owner's manual. He said he'd see what he could do on the floor mats but called on Monday to say "sorry, no can do." I just bought a $25k car and he couldn't throw in floor mats? Shouldn't a car come with floor mats? Apparently, once the sale was done, all desire to hook a brother up was null & void (though he did ask me to treat him well on the customer satisfaction survey.) My bad for not realizing a car didn't come with floor mats but their bad for ending this relationship on a negative note over $150 floor mats. This was my 3rd purchase with Gerald...not sure I'll go back (or recommend them to friends/family.)
