To be clear, if I could give zero stars, I would. This will be lengthy, but worth the read. December 2, 2020 I purchased a 2009 Jeep Liberty with 99,131 miles for $4,300, price including taxes, plates and “runner fee”. For context, at the time, I was 8.5 months pregnant with a toddler and desperately needed an suv. I was told the day I purchased it that it needed a hose replaced and the brakes done— THAT’S IT. I was quoted about a week for pick up. Through several emails, I was told there was more and more that needed to be fixed before I could pick it up, and also that they were awaiting the paperwork from the registry. I wasn’t able to pick the car up until December 21 and when I did, it had temporary plates dated December 6, meaning the paperwork excuse was a lie. It also was now reading 100,032 miles— so within that 3 weeks they drove it just under a 1000 miles. Within 5 min of driving off the lot, every safety issue light came on. Traction control, ESP, ABS, engine light, and even the e-brake light coming on while traveling down the highway. I wasn’t able to immediately turn around due to having to get to a prenatal doctors appointment. I was told if there were any other issues to come back but asked not to come back until after the holidays, as it was the week of Christmas. However, I contacted them the Sunday after Christmas and stated I’d like to bring it back and sent proof of the issues. They told me no one could take it until after the new year, as it was a “holiday week”. Mind you, New Years was on a Friday. I expressed that I was sold a lemon, that I do not trust the vehicle, and after being mislead during the purchase and them having 3 weeks to fix any issues with no avail, I didn’t trust they’d be able to have it working safely. They assured me they’d be able to fix it. When I mentioned the large mileage discrepancy, I was told they only drove it 2 miles to the mechanic and back and that the original listed mileage on my bill of sale must’ve been a misread (the woman wrote it the first time, then proceeded to walk outside and double check and wrote it again). When I received the title in the mail, the mileage on it was listed at 99,731. When I looked at the inspection report, that was done 35 min before I arrived to pick it up (I had to wait 15 min for it to get back from the inspection) the mileage was 100,011. No matter which way you spin it, they did something shady. Now, after contacting a lemon law rep, I was advised that I was obligated to give them 11 business days, consecutive or not, to fix the issues before I would be entitled to a refund. I dropped the car off to them on January 4. Surely after the 11 days (almost 3 weeks due to the weekends and a holiday), it still was not fixed. I gave birth to my son on January 22, with my only access to a vehicle being a manual Honda Accord coup. When I told them I would be filing for lemon law arbitration if they wouldn’t let me return it, they stopped responding to me. I only contacted them via email as to have everything in writing. After about a month, and the inconvenience of having a newborn and toddler in a tiny little car, I emailed them to tell them I’d be picking the car up. Sure enough, they emailed me back within 10 min to say I could pick it up the next day. I have driven the car about 3500 miles in the last three months (moved, doctors, school, etc.). The engine light came on the week after I picked it up, it was consistently cold starting and after you’d reach 20mph, the transmission starts slipping gears. I informed them of this and they stopped responding. I figured my best bet was to just sell/trade it to someone who wanted to deal w it, which I’m still looking to do. However, being a single mother of 2 under 3, having no vehicle isn’t feasible. To sum up this novel— be VERY careful if you decide to buy from here. I should’ve done my research, that much is absolutely clear. However, I was duped by a couple who will do/say/sell whatever junk they have on their lot to make a buck. Must be nice not having a conscience.
