As the title says I have bought many cars from this dealership. Every experience working with this dealership has been nothing but positive. They make the process completely painless. No stupid games that most dealerships play. No pressure to buy when looking. It is how car buying should be. Unfortunately, Liberty is the exception and not the rule. I still make sure that I am getting good deal and I do compare pricing and every time I purchase a car. In the end I know that my job is to get myself the best price and ultimately the salesman's job is to get as much for the car as possible. However every time that I have checked pricing Liberty has come either lower or even with other offers that I got. Elmer Hansen the Sales Manager lays it to me straight when we get to discussing pricing. "Here is the price that I can offer you the car for that is fair for you and let's me make money to keep the dealer in business". That is usually all that goes into the negotiation. No mind games, no hassles, no "let me go talk to my manager" nonsense. A friend of mine who I recently sent to Liberty had a 5 hour fight with another Subaru dealer and in the end walked away. With Liberty he had chosen, ordered and committed to purchasing a new Forester within an hour. He was amazed and his profession is purchasing for a major Fortune 200 company. One time I asked Elmer that if I left the dealership would the price he offered me no longer be good. He looked at me with a puzzled look on his face and said, "Well....why would the offer change? Go do your homework and if you can get this for a better price then I recommend you buy it from whoever that is". How many car sales managers have said that to you? Sure enough I could not find better pricing and bought the car from Liberty. When buying my wife's car Elmer offered me to take it home for the weekend and see if I wanted it. Is said to him "oh, I see the puppy dog close, eh?" He smiled at me and said "Uh...sure...whatever". When I brought it back he asked, "Did you like it?" I said "yes" and gave him back the keys. He took the keys and said "well, let me know if you want to buy one" and walked away. I was flabbergasted. I said "wait, aren't you going to give me the high pressure sales pitch?" he turned looked puzzled at me and said "uh....no, that was not what I was planning, but if you want me to I can" He smiled and said, If you want the car you know where it is" and went on his way. My wife and I just looked at each other, mouths agape as I was expecting a knife fight and got nothing. A week later we bought the car. My most recent purchase was in 2015. I bought a "brand new $40,000 WRX STI Limited" and I had no problems getting my car. I had to order it and have it built and shipped to the dealership. Three long months I waited. I was constantly pestering my sales guy, Craig Huber for three months and every time he was patient and happy to help me track where the car was. When it arrived, he sent me a picture via text that said "look what showed up!". Craig, my salesman is more like a buddy now. How many sales people do you know that you actually want to hang around with? I live in Wisconsin but I drive down to Illinois to Liberty to get my cars serviced by them. The service staff is fantastic and always courteous and treat me like a friend. Almost every issue that I have gone in to get fixed gets fixed correctly the first time. Now when it's time to buy a car my wife asks "which cars can we buy from Liberty" and then we narrow it down from there. As I said, this dealer is something special, the excepetional one both from a sales and service standpoint. In a sea of mostly terrible, traditional car "stealerships". Unless something goes seriously awry, I will likely keep recommending these guys to family and friends

I started my search for a new Subaru Forester online, and was inundated with multiple dealerships calling and emailing me. Obviously went to the closest dealers first, where we experienced the stereotypical hard pressure sale, as well as an almost a condescending attitude to our needs. The only dealer that truly listened to us was Liberty Subaru. Starting online with Mike Croft - who is just about the most straight forward and honest salesman ever, we discussed our needs - understood why pricing was what it was, and moved dierctly to the right fit for us. We settled on an exact price, and drove the 33 miles to get what amounted to friendly, knowledgeable, and courteous service. Charles Perchak, our onsite salesman, was the total opposite of pushy; easy going and accommodating. In fact - the entire team from Elmer Hansen to Mike in delivery/service and Jed in finance were fantastic to deal with. And thank you to Samantha as well! The process continues to be overly long - but it was well worth the 33 mile trip to find a dealership of this quality!

I purchased a brand new $40,000 Subaru Impreza WRX STi from this dealer. At first everyone at the dealership was friendly and accommodating. After purchase, things changed. It started with the finance guy trying to convince me to extend the term of the loan. Understandable, he probably makes more money on loans that end up costing the consumer more, but reprehensible in an economic climate wrought with unrecoverable consumer credit debt. My real issue came when the salesperson was showing me the vehicle. He reiterated that the vehicle takes PREMIUM GASOLINE ONLY. Then sent me with the porter who proceeded to fill the car with regular 87 octane gas. I stopped him and asked why he ignored the bold type on the gas cap that says PREMIUM GASOLINE ONLY. He replied that he was instructed to put 87 in all cars, even those requiring premium. Upon returning to the dealership, I brought this to the attention of the salesperson. He said that I could leave it overnight and they would drain it and fill it with 93. Beyond not trusting them to do this, I drove 70 miles to the dealership and didn't have time to do that again. They asked what would make it right, I replied that nothing would, but asked for a roof rack in exchange (retail $170). Salesperson said he would check with his boss and get back to me. That was a month ago, no word from anyone at the dealership since. Using 87 octane gas in vehicles that require premium can pull timing and cause engine knocking. I won't go back for service or another purchase.

Mr. Hansen was courteous, knowledgeable and very easy to work with. Because he truly listened to what I was looking for in a new car, I walked away with exactly the car for me. I would highly recommend Mr. Hansen and Liberty Auto City to all my family and friends.

Dan and the Liberty Auto City staff did an outstanding Job. They worked out an awesome deal with me even with my credit issues. This was the smoothest sale I every went through. They worked with my needs and budget. There was no pressure at all on the sale. I would highly recommend then to anyone looking to get a new car! This is a fantastic dealership!

I am writing this after I saw a bad review about Craig from jwenzel(there are 2 Craig's that work there, but the Craig I dealt with was great, so I will write this anyways). After I had some so-so experiences with Nissan dealerships, I decided to try and test drive a Forester b/c of the good things I've heard about it. I was warmly greeted, Craig Huber did a great job of showing me all aspects of the car, and was just very nice and a low-pressure salesman. He offered me a bottle of water and we got down to discussing the price. He was willing to offer me below invoice, with my truecar.com quotes that I brought, and he even let me know that I could discount the price a little more based on certain things that I didn't need from the package(auto-dimming compass/mats/etc... but that I would still be getting with the car. Overall, I got a good price on the Forester, there was no pressure at all, and the dealership was very low-pressure in general. I could tell that it was more of a family-like atmosphere than some of the Nissan dealerships I went to. I would recommend Craig Huber to anyone looking to buy a Subaru from this dealership. What was initially a stressful process due to my skepticsm of car salesmen, Craig proved that he is one of the good guys.

Stay AWAY!!!!!!!!!!!!! First of all I only received one remote key where I was supposed to get 2 (Sales person assured me at least 3 times that I am getting 2; even my trade had only one key and once again Mr. Ortiz made a comment stating that they are going to give me 2 keys and I'm giving them only one... Second of all I went there to get a car wash (about 25 mins drive) it took them 30 seconds to just rinse my car with water. After they pulled my car over the sales person told me that they are washed some of the dust of my car. WTF?!Third of all 2 months after my purchase they called me demanding more money because the transfer of my license plate was more expensive than they anticipated. Once again WTF?!?!?!?!?!?!?! I told them that I refuse to pay because the transaction is over I paid everything I was supposed to pay; the guy who called me sai "ok, be like that" and then he hang up...Worst experience ever!!! Never will go there again and because of shady people like them I won't buy a car from a dealer.

So I find a Subaru Impreza WRX (Still listed on Autotrader at this time at this dealership), and I submit an inquiry for it. Kathy then calls me back and leaves me a voicemail. I call her back and ask her if the vehicle is still available and she says yes, what time were you thinking of coming down today? I said I work until 1 and can be down there by 2:30 (1 hour drive). So when I get there, everyone is sitting down doing nothing except the guy at the front desk on the phone. I walk in there and Craig is eating pizza and Kathy has no clue what's going on, 5 minutes later she realizes that she had an appointment with me and says hi. So a little upset I say can I see the car please? She says sure Craig will go out and get the keys for you, and even offers me a water because I was waiting so long. So Craig goes outside and comes back with no keys, and says "sorry the car was already sold". I literally thought he was joking and started laughing. And then I realize, he must of been serious because he has no keys. Without even saying sorry to me, i just walk out and drive an hour back home. What a joke of a dealership, horrible salesman, horrible service, horrible everything they will never own my business and I'm getting my word out to others to never go there you will have a bad experience. All their customer testimonials on their website are fake obviously.

Bought a new 2012 Subaru Forester with all-weather package. 2012 Foresters are just now arriving at dealerships. Called Liberty Auto City and talked to Craig Huber to make sure the car actually existed. We agreed on a price over the phone so my wife and I drove 1 hour to buy the SUV. I thought of a dozen things that could go wrong and only one that could go right.Customer Service: great. Craig was busy with another couple so the manager, whose name I never got but he knows who he is, gave us keys for the Forester we were interested in and told us to take it for a drive.Quality of Work: great. This white SUV had just arrived and was still covered in dust and grime from its trip. Dealership cleaned it up nicely and Craig went thru the various functions, buttons and knobs giving us a basic introduction to the Forester.Friendliness: great. Employees kept us informed and made us feel welcome.Overall Experience: good. They were having a good day in sales and, therefore, it took a while to cash out. No problem, we took our car out to dinner to avoid the line.Price: great. Businesses are entitled to make a profit. That's how they stay in business. Do your homework! The best deal and dealer for you is seldom the closest. Do your homework! So the only thing that could go right actually did. Craig made this "trip to the dentist" painless. They made money, we saved money. My wife got a white Forester with a moonroof and heated seats, a combination almost nonexistant in northern Illinois/southern Wisconsin. I did my homework.

On a recent trip out of town, our van sustained damage when we ran over a shredded tire on the interstate. Liberty Auto City was the nearest dealer so we took the van there to have an estimate on repairs. The staff was very friendly and accomodating. They provided us with the name of local hotel and even shuttled our family to the hotel. The service advisor, David Butler, went out of his way to be helpful and get us back on the road. The repairs were completed in less than 24 hours and we were back on our way again. I would definitely recommend this dealer and would use them again if we happened to be in the area. Thanks, guys, for making the incident a little less painless!!Thomas and Angie Thompson,Indianapolis, IN

Where do I begin...this was quite a process for me , my husband and the entire Liberty Jeep dealership.(Actually a two month ordeal that ended on an absolutely wonderful note!)I have been a 15 year loyal Liberty Jeep owner and in those 15 years have only gone to Liberty's service department. Even though a few dropped the ball and mis-communicated on this journey, I cut them slack because this was an unusual situation. I can not say enough about the wonderful attention to details and the patience this deal took. It was a new experience for all involved. I think Joe Parks is an amazing communicator, positive and gets the job done. I also will only deal with Rick Rosendahl for sales, he is the best there is!!! He knows his cars!!Rick is patient, pleasant, professional, honest and sincere. Then there is Bill Henders, the only man I will deal with in finance. Bill stuck with this to the end, thanks for all your hard work!! And finally to my serviceman Jim Grey, who is always professional and just a great guy!!! Ps. I do miss Robbie and Tim in service who are no longer at Liberty, but they were very professional and helpful with my car issues. Thanks Liberty, through it all you absolutely still have me as a loyal customer forever!!!

I'm one of those people who hate buying a car. I feel the minute you walk into a dealership your going to get ripped off. Thanks to Joe Parks and his staff I had a great experience and got the car I wanted at the price I wanted. His sales staff took the time to explain everything to me and the finance department got me the best rate possible. I love my new car!!! I would never go anywhere else and I would recommend Liberty Auto City to everyone! Thanks again everyone for all your help. You all went way beyond my expectations, and I could'nt be happier with my new car.

In April , I went to Liberty Auto City to look at car. After doing a little research online, I was still unsure of exactly what I wanted. I ended up purchasing a new Jeep Cherokee, which I absolutely love! I was very pleased with the amount given on my trade in. Everyone at the dealership from sales to finance to service has been extremely friendly and helpful. I had a lot of questions and being a single female was nervous, but Joe Parks talked me through everything and was etremely helpful and patient. I can honestly recommend this dealership.

I would like to express my thanks to Joseph Parks and his team at Liberty Auto City for finding us a car that fit our needs and for providing us such excellent service. I would recommend this dealership to anyone, and here is why.First and foremost, we had a bit of a drawn out settlement process with our insurance when we got into an accident, but every time we called Joseph Parks, he got back to us immediately. We never had to chase him because he was so diligent about returning our calls and answering our questions. He was also extremely helpful, caring, and informative. Finally, when we told him what we were looking for and our price range, he did a great job finding us a car that we wanted. He did not try to convince us that we needed a different car. He simply listened to everything we wanted, and did his best to make us happy. This was our first experience with this dealership, and we intend to use them again in the near future to replace our second car because we were 100% satisfied with the service we received at Liberty Auto City.

I have never received such horrible customer service in my life! Dealt with Robert first, who made an apointment with me. When I arrived (on time) he was "busy" so he told me that his son-in-law, Mike, would treat me well. I sat there all Friday afternoon....then had to go back Saturday. I agreed to pay $1K down in one month. They told me to lie to Capital One when they called me and say I paid them $1K in cash. When I called on September 3rd to tell them my financial circumstances were not what I had expected, I was transferred to Sam, (supposedly the "owner")....he told me he would call me back. Well, he did call me back - a month and a half later stating he was going to come and reposses my car...said Capital One wants him to take it back because I didn't make good on my deal. I called Capital One and they informed me to call the police because only they can reposses my car - they own the car..! Sam is a liar and a manipulative jerk. I called to make payment arrangements with them when I couldn't fulfill my obligation and they didn't call me back until now when they want to repo my car. Never darken the doorway on this place! I wish I had seen these reviews before I ever bought a car from them! They are underhanded and sleazy, to put it mildly!

Stereotypical sleazy salesman/ managers. I'd suggest any dealer besides them. Yes, they'll be polite up front it all goes down hill from the initial contact. They will tell you whatever you want to hear to make a sale. I'd suggest getting everything in writing before signing a contract with them.FYI, the business manager Mark G. Avoid him, maybe you'll have better luck with somebody else.

I recently had my vehicle in for $service. This would be the 4th time I have been to this particular Subaru dealership in the last 3 years. First off, Ive been to worse dealerships or auto shops than these guys. I get annoyed when things are not put back to how they originally were. The guys in service were nice and accommodating as was everyone else I was in contact with. But many of you probably know how things are nowadays in that everything is freaking flat rated to the max. The mechanics rush through the jobs to meet the expected time allowances and in the process neglecting to tighten lines going to turbo, battery connections, improperly securing hoses/lines/wires, losing clips/fasteners, or neglecting to replace bolts for the heat shield. I suppose your typical consumer wouldnt bother to look/inspect everything. Going to dealership-you get what you pay for which is essentially higher costs for the same average (sometimes below average) service.Every time I get my car back from these guys, I find dozen things that I have to fix/correct/tighten/etc. Im probably more meticulous than the average consumer and I always check everything that is done as much as I possibly can. When I spend well over a grand on something you better give me top notch service and put things back as they originally came. Word of advice to Liberty Auto City-Word of mouth is a powerful tool. Dont lose sight of that! Its obvious your mechanics rush through everything and dont do anywhere near the best job they possibly are capable of in honor of the almighty dollar. It sure would be nice to have them perform the job right the first time around. I wonder how the things I cant see visually will hold up or if they have been done correctly? Shame on me for going to these guys each time... I think a change is needed.

Bought 2003 Lincoln LS, 1 month ago, just yesterday warning light came on and car started misfiring. Toke to Diagnostics tech, he said the coil in Cylinder #3 was bad and possible damage to CAT Conv. I spoke with Mike Evans he said to fax him the Diag results and he would call me back right away, well of course he did not. !!!! I called him 3 hours after fax and he said yes he saw fax on machine but did not look at it yet. ??? He said he would look at it and give me a call back, of course no call once again.....Spoke to Certified Tech this morning and he said that the coils was probably bad when I bought car, he said that they probably reset Computer so engine light would go out, and car's computer takes 3 to 4 weeks to relearn everything. What a rip off. I am going to try again and again to contact them to get this fixed I paid a lot of money and used up all my savings to put down on car, I do not have money to get this fixed, I was told it could cost up to $3000.00 to fix if Cat Conv is bad... ANY ONE ELSO OUT THERE DO NOT DFEAL WITH THESE PEOPLE. Like other person said I sat there for 4 hours waiting around and finally went into financing office to sign paperwork and price was higher than quoted and and APR was thru the roof .!!!

They had me sitting there for 3 hours even though I came in with an APR issued by Neil and pricing on a Jeep Liberty BEFORE I walked in the door. Neil promised me he could provide me with a much better APR than the one I was originally quoted on. On his word, I believed him and came in.3 hours later, I received the final pricing and APR as $3400.00 higher and 5% higher - the same exact thing I experienced at the other dealership I encountered days before. They had purposely worn me out and expected me to sign, after I got insurance on the spot so I could drive the vehicle out. Then sitting in Mark's office I got the final price and I was so mad I walked out of the store.I could not believe the way I was treated! They really expected me to sign. I walked out and took myself all the way to the train station. I asked for a ride back to the train station. No one would assist me. Then when I got outside with no help, Neil came running after me. I yelled at him, in total shock, and he asked me why I was flipping my lid. Why do you think, Neil. Then he wanted me to get in his car so he could take me back to the train. Hell no! Are you kidding me? I felt unsafe. NEVER, EVER AGAIN!!!!

Late on a Saturday, we bought a car with the provision that it could pass mechanical inspection (written). We cashed in the family savings to make the purchase. the car didn't pass inspection, failing in the front suspension area (my diag mech said he wouldn't drive it like that).I brought it back. UC Mgr told me he would make it "good". It took them 8 days for this work. After receiving the car again, I took it back to diag mech. He found no changes to failing suspension components. When I asked the dealership owner for my money back in exch for the car, he told me "Good luck with that, buddy. I sell cars I don't take them back.".These people are completely untrustworthy. Do NOT get the time of day from them, let alone $$$$ worth of car.
