Steve Disteli helped us out of a nasty deal we were put into by a GM at San Diego Kearny Mesa VW. We originally went to Lithia VW and met Steve Dec 2015. He did not sell us at all. He took the time to review the Lease and actually told us not to buy. He advised to wait another year, so we had better options. We were shocked, this doesn't happen at car dealerships! We waited and recently came back to see him. He helped us into another vehicle that allows us time to pay down our loss on the Lease for a couple years and still leaves us with solid equity to work with if/when the time comes to trade it in. The entire interaction with Steve was genuine, no pressure at all, with OUR best interest 1st. A rare find!!! Steve will be who we go to for all of our vehicle needs, as long as we live in the NV area! :-)

Brought our Jetta in for the lifetime oil Change and inspection and they were very thorough in their report on our car. The only thing I might point out is they made us aware of potential future problems in the report, but did not really explain to us the urgency of said problems. For instance, serpentine belt needs replacing. Other than, they were fast and friendly - very satisfied with our experience.

I sincerely was blessed to have this Reno dealership care for my VW-'Mocha' and I. I was traveling when Mocha began to shutter quite violently. I slowly made my way to the Lithia Reno VW Dealership with my flashers on for two hours. Each person, the rep (thank you Jade), the courtesy driver (thank you Michael), and the mechanics (you know who you are) are experienced, accommodating and caring! I did not worry about a thing from the moment I followed the arrows on the pavement into the service area! Service Rep Jade spent time asking me about every detail of my still shuttering VW's mechanical troubles so the mechanic(s) could diagnose the root cause. This level of service spilled over to accommodating where the courtesy driver Michael could bring me while 'Mocha' was in for repair. I knew that all my personal travel gear would be safe and that the mechanical problem would be explored and addressed with expert repair and care. I was called during the mechanics 'exploration' process and when 'Mocha' was close to being finished so I could personally call for courtesy pickup. The ignition coil needed to be replaced and the repair cost was very, very fair! As a team, they all had me in and out in one afternoon so I could resume my travels that very day! I even received a follow up call from Jade! It has been a number of weeks now and my 'Mocha-VW' is purring! I deeply appreciate each of you making that day, a very impressive day at the dealership! To me, dealership service is a reflection of each staff, each manager, each dealership owner. There simply is no substitute or short cut to exceptional! You all love your work and it shows! Thank you for your excellence in serving!

I purchased a 2012 VW EOS from them. They are very polite and proactive before selling car. But once you purchase a car from them then you can never contact them. They sold me a used car telling that this car has their volkwagen 112 multipoint inspections . I purchased the car by believing their words. I drive the car back to san diego . Then I took it to nearest city volkswagen authorized service center and found that car's transmission engine, filter needs immediate 40000 mile service (cost 670 USD) , brake fluid (84 USD) and coolent discolored (194 USD) . These guys can never be trusted for warranty or servicing. If you want to purchase from them and then be sure to take your own mechanic with them. When I showed the vehicle to city volkswagen authorized service center in san diego then they became surprised how can another volkswagen authorized service center sell a car hiding actual information. I will not recommend to them to any one.

This was a different experience from previous new cars purchased. They were right up front about the price and completed the deal quite quickly. I was given a fair price for my trade. I was looking to help my daughter build credit and get her a better vehicle since she drives 60 miles round trip to school and it worked out better than we anticipated. I bought a 2016 VW Jetta and we couldn't be happier with the deal and the car. They had the exact car and color both myself and my daughter wanted. I will give them a shot at selling me a new GTI in a few years when my current one wears out.

At first I was a little flustered working with people to find the right vehicle for me and it was noticed. I had someone else jump in and take the time to talk to me without family around and see what I wanted not what my family wanted for me. It nice that they have some people that want to do whats best for you and not just try to sell you a vehicle. We all know its their job to sell you a vehicle and that can be a little stressful because sometimes they are just too pushy. I did feel a little pushed in the beginning but after my family was removed from the process I really had a wonderful experience.

Just completed my third included annual maintenance for my 2013 Passat. At the suggestion of the service manager, Scott, I dropped by in the afternoon after lunch time and used the Service xpress. My vehicle was looked at right away. In addition to the annual maintenance, I had a service recall for the steering wheel clock spring performed. After 90 minutes, I was back on the road with a serviced and washed car. Everyone was very nice and informative.

I found the exact car I was looking for at a great price, but I lived 6 hours away. I called and told them I would come look at it the next day. I got there late in the afternoon on a Sunday and the car was waiting for me. The easiest purchase with the friendliest staff I have ever encountered. The radio system didn't work, so they wrote in the contract that I could take it to one of their dealerships closer to home and they would pay to have it fixed. True to their word, when it couldn't be fixed, they installed a brand new system. I love the red 2008 VW EOS, and I am totally impressed by this Lithia dealership. I would drive 6 hours again just to do business with these wonderful people.

I ended up trading my 2013 Jetta TDI for a 2015 Passat TSI and couldn't be happier (unless they would have given me more for my trade in, but in all fairness they gave me exactly what blue book said to expect for the number of miles on my Jetta). I stopped at the Lithia Volkswagen of Reno Nev. at 7063 South Virginia Reno Nev.89511 after finding out my right turn signal light was not working. I looked up their address and took my car to get the repair done, the customer service was excellent and my car purred like a kitten after the repair was done. It was only a signal light repair but my Volkswagen Passat seemed to run better than it didprior to taking it in to Lithia. Just brought my car in for its 70,000 mile maintenance. NO appointment required, as they now have general maintenance covered under their "Express" program. All I can say is that these people actually care for what the customer wants and what will best feed their needs. We had Guy, and all I have to say are great things. He was very easy going and relaxed. He did not pressure us to buy anything, which made us want to actually buy something but unfortunately our budget didn't fit what we wanted and he was very understanding and not pushy whatsoever. He gave his all to try to get us what we wanted (even though what we asked for was a bit ridiculous) he still showed interest in wanting our business. if i could give less then 1 star i would. they charged for diagnostic. you would think for car being a 2001 volkswagen jetta they would be able to nail the problem. wrong ! wanted to replace valve body for transmission shifting problems. said would be 2 grand, and no guarantee it would fix problem. and next would be to replace transmission for over 5 grand. well i took my car out of there, took to transmission shop, replaced valve body for 500 bucks. had to take it somewhere else as this did not fix shifting problem. turned out it was the transmission control module. 20 dollar pick in pull part. plugged it in and car was fixed and transmission shifting and working fine. mind you lithia would have replaced entire transmission and that was not the problem. also called and gave detailed explanation for a service manager call back 2 times and never got a return call as promised. whats that tell ya ? also they said will look for my battery cover that my car came from there without. no word on that either. so now filed complaint with BBB, and next whoever i can find till i am compensated for money wasted and lost battery cover.

I was in the market for a used car recently. I found an add online for a used BMW 3 series 2011 with low mileage for a great deal at Lithia VW Reno. Everything about the car seemed great except for a check engine light. The salesman had an excuse, "We changed the oil but don't have the technology to change the light." Skeptical, we had an independent mechanic look at there car and not only was there an E-Vape leak, the service department had put the incorrect coolant in the car. There were multiple signs that the car had been in an unreported accident (different paint colors, new headlights, etc.). When we returned with this information, the salesman instantly stopped trying to sell us the car, he has been found out and he knew it. Additionally, we believe the car fax was fraudulent as it was printed in black and white, had an incorrect vin number, and the salesman did not print it in front of us.Treating your customers as if they were stupid is never appreciated, especially when your mechanics don't even know how to care for cars.

My amazing Touareg Hybrid is the best car I've ever owned, so when I began to experience road noise I hoped it was just my snow tires and nothing more serious. From the time I called Julie in Lithia's Service department, I knew this routine 50,000 mile checkup would be different. I was treated like a valued customer, not just a car with an issue. When I arrived at the appointed hour, I was immediately greeted by yet another pleasant young lady who set up the use of a loaner car - I felt like I had won the lottery! Andy, my service specialist, was patient and listened intently to what I had experienced with the noise and took copious notes. He warmed up the loaner car, gave me a cold bottle of water and promised to call when the car was ready. I was able to go back to work and completed a project.Scott, Lithia's service manager took the time to explain that the noise was indeed my snow tires and with my permission he found the "N" rated Blizzack tires I needed, had them mounted, aligned and I was hugely grateful that I didn't need another appointment! Scott escorted me to my freshly washed Touareg and I glided back home in a smooth, QUIET car!! I felt like a VIP at Lithia and that's an incredible treat when you have to take the time to schedule car maintenance. Thank you for such excellent service!

I have found a VW dealership that renews my faith in dealerships in general, for years I have found dealers that say one thing and deliver another, but the recent dealings with this dealership has kept me coming back. From the parts techs, technicians to the sales person who handled my purchase the personnel acted as a team and really cared about my time and distance I travel to get there. From buying some parts for my older VW to the newest addition the CC. I find myself stopping in just to say Hi when I'm in town. I came into Lithia VW of Reno on a Saturday after being turned away from my local tire shop because I had misplaced my wheel lock. I went to the parts department thinking I would just get a replacement wheel lock nut key and be on my way, but due to the age of my VW New Beetle Turbo S they no longer had it in stock. I was short on money and couldn't see spending nearly $100 for a new lock set, the parts guy suggested that I could talk to the service manager and swap out my old locks with just standard bolts. The service manager was great and said they could get me right in and quote me a price of $25 for the standard bolts. The service was completed within 10 minutes and when I went to settle the bill the cashier said your all set. I was asked her if I could use my debit card thinking I had heard her wrong but and again she stated "Have a nice day Mr. Archie you owe us nothing and your all set" she stated that they had some bolts in stock and since they couldn't get my parts I requested due to the age of my car and being discontinued VW of Reno would not be charging me today per the service manager. I was just floored that they waived the service and didn't even charge me for labor. I want to thank the parts department and the service department for assisting me, I cant recall the name of the 3 employees that helped me but it was on Saturday 10/18/2014, also the young mechanic that was kind enough to listen to me. You guys are doing a great job and I will be a loyal VW of Reno fan for many years to come.

Love the lifetime oil changes. My only problem is that every time I go in to drop to pick up my car I am surrounded by employees smoking. Wen I dropped my car off in the "early bird" slot at 630 am, there was an employee smoking outside and I had to walk through a cloud of smoke. That same day, when I had to pick up my car, three salesmen were all right outside smoking. I don't think I should have to breath in second hand smoke when I am entering or leaving a business. Smoking is horrible and should be moved away from customers.. I also had a missing rubber piece from under my hood (this is the piece that holds the hood up and in correct alignment when shut). I will be going back this week to see how they handle this problem. I called Andy on the Saturday following my appointment. I hope to get the piece replaced.

We scheduled an appointment several days in advance to stop for our required 30k service while traveling cross country in our VW Pasat. The dealership was expecting us, and took great care of us while we waited for the service to be completed. They even dropped us off at a restaurant so we could have breakfast while waiting, and picked us up afterwards. The shuttle driver was very nice and whole experience was great.

I bought a 2014 Jetta Sportwagen TDI in September 2013 at this dealership, and in the end I got EXACTLY what I had originally configured on the VW website, even though there seemed to be a slim chance of finding a 6speed TDI with a sunroof. Steve was instrumental through the process, with multiple test drives (DSP or manual), and actually locating a car that I wanted. Because the delivery happened over a holiday weekend, the car couldn't get properly detailed when I picked it up, so he offered to get it from my work a few days later and get it done. I feel like I got real good service throughout.Overall, the whole process was a lot less traumatic than the usual car buying nonsense, no BS, just working through the options, and although I ended up paying list price (being a lousy negotiator), I am ecstatic about my new ride, my very first brand new car, after many used cars, many of them VWs. Through some fluke I even got a car with the exact color I wanted, I would have settled for another color to get the options I wanted, but it all worked out. And the car is a joy to drive, I hope it'll last as long (or much longer) as my last ride, a Golf GTI, 16 years and 225K miles.

Sure enough we where spotted by Guy Horton who approached us with a very Friendly attitude and was very easy to BS with about the Vehicles on the lot providing information getting us excited about the possibility of a new purchase in doing so not trying to push a sell any car. We did not purchase that day although returned two days later asked directly for guy not even knowing he was a salesman, only new he worked in the internet dept. Because he seemed Friendly and easy to talk to and ended up executing the deal very quickly driving home my new ride that day. Thanks Guy

After my visit to this horrible dealership on 04/22/2013 I've decided that these fools are the absolute worst of the worst! Stay away fro here. I bought two used vehicles from these idiots within a week, now four months later they have both broken down (one out of state) and they deny any accountability! Total Dishonesty! The shop in California states that Lithia Volkswagon of Reno had replaced the power steering unit prior to selling it to me, but forgot to refill the fluid. IDIOTS! Now the power steering pump has burned up and I am out of pocket. What a bunch of dirtbags! Go to Sacramento to buy your cars, they are cheaper there! After getting screwed over by these tools I did some investigating and found out that Volkswagon will probably be pulling out of this Reno dealership to to the ineptitude of the staff and management! That makes perfect sense to me, good riddance! I looked up this so called dealership on the BBB website-THEY SCORED AN "F"! That should say it all folks!

Lithia VW does it right, they are focused on the customer and deliver on thir promises. We have bought many cars through the years, but the sales process was easy this time. We worked together with Guy online to locate a vehicle and discuss pricing. Although the dealers in the bay made it tempting, Lithia worked hard to keep our business local. The process was easy and didn't involve any high pressure sales tactics or extraordinary amounts of time at the dealership. The vehicle was brought here from another dealer, which we were a bit hesitant about, so we reiterated to them that we expected a new car in perfect condition. When we picked up the car for delivery, there was some flaws in the paint that appeared to be from a poor detail job. We pointed out what we saw and both Steve and Ray ensured us that they would be able to take care of it and make us happy. They told us to take it home and enjoy the car. After a few days we got a call from Guy asking us to bring the car back so they could have a proper detail done which they assured us would fix the issues. They took back our car and had a loaner car ready for us to drive in the meantime. After about a week, we didn't hear anything so I contacted them to find out what was going on. They only told us to come in the following day, so I wasn't sure what to expect. When we pulled up, the car was sitting near the entrance and looked perfect. We walked around the car and inspected it closely. We knew that they had done exactly what they promised when we drove off the lot in our new car. Thank you for making the situation right and for understanding what it means to buy a brand new car!

Steve and Andy were both very helpful in reviewing the advantages of each vehicle and letting my wife and I test drive several times. They let us take our time and decide which would be best for our situation. No high pressure sales, just good information. Buying process went smoothly and the finance department people were a pleasure to deal with. I've had the car in for the 30-day double check service. The sales people were very informative about the car. They were friendly and did their job without being overly aggressive. Once I decided to purchase the car, the process went smoothly and quickly.

You have gone a LONG way towards making a customer for life. I do not care for dealerships, for known reasons, but the folks I dealt with at Lithia were 110% different in a VERY positive way. They listened to me and met my goals in a professional, intelligent, respectful way. I had already looked at 1 vehicle and had 3 more on my list that I was intent on driving but your folks made me forget all about any other vehicle make, model or dealership. The quality of the vehicle speaks for itself, your sales staff assisted me in making getting into a VW possible. IF the service is as good as the vehcile and the sale-you WILL have a customer for life, and likely several family members too. The pressure is on the service dept now!

Our sales representative, Steve Disteli was outstanding. He was very helpful with arranging a test drive in the new Touareg, and he made himself available to answer our questions and eventually close the deal on a new Touareg. Steve came across as honest and seemed to really care about our car buying experience. I actually believe Steve when he says he is available for us to phone him if we have any problems or concerns in the future, or even if we need to schedule some service on our new vehicle. The Lithia corporation is lucky to have an employee like Steve Disteli.

I leased my 2011 Tiguan from Lithia and love, love, love it - but have nothing but problems with the buyout and service since. First the sales dept. screwed up the buyout by telling me they could put it through as a 72 month new car purchase (which they couldn't) and signing all the docs that way, then having to call me in three weeks later to redo everything as a 60 month used car purchase, causing me a ding on my credit report because it made the payout lag into another month. Then, although they assured me that by doing a "Certified Pre Owned" inspection and certification my tires would be "as good as new" I ended up having a blow out on Route 395 not 5 weeks later. The state trooper who stopped to help noted how bald the tires were.The salesman calmed me down by assuring me that the deluxe warranty I had purchased just the month before (on top of the "Certified Pre Owned" certification) would cover the tire situation. FOUR HOURS LATER....the service manager tells me the deluxe warranty will only cover the one, completely shredded, blown out tire which they still insist is "within Volkswagen's Certified Pre Owned guidelines" (the technician said he wouldn't let HIS wife drive on those tires!) They refuse to replace the other back tire - which is just as worn down!!!!!!!!!!!Not only am I never going back there, I am complaining to BBB and considering suing for Deceptive Trade Practices. The whole reason for getting "Certified Pre Owned" certifications is to prevent situations like this and mine was only a MONTH beforehand.

I have nothing but great things to say about this place. I was looking to replace my aging pickup. I looked at the website and found one I liked. I submitted a request online and the next day(it was late at night), Guy Horton called me. I went to meet him and test drive the vehicle. Liking what I drove and saw, I started the buying process. They gave me almost double what another dealer down the street for my trade-in. Igot the truck and noticed something was wrong with the power seat. Guy hooked up with the service manager and set an appointment. I went and had the seat looked at and Greg Kane said that he needed to order the part. No Prob. I will just come back when I come back to Reno. I have gotten several phone calls from Guy and the Sales Manager to see how I am doing and if I am having any problems. Very impressed with the customer service and I will buy from them again.

I recently went to Reno Lithia VW looking for a used Jetta TDI. Despite my saying I was ONLY interested in a USED 2006 TDI, I was subjected to about 30 min of high pressure nagging about why I should just buy a new one. After we finally got past this initial stage of annoyance, the salesman "found one just for me" (aka the dealer had already purchased it at a fleet auction and it was on its way there anyway). Their asking price for this used 2006 Jetta TDI, with 93,000 miles, was $15,000. The salesman said the car would be in the following weekend so I could come check it out, which I agreed to do. That night I also went to the Lithia website and searched the used vehicle inventory for all of their locations. I found several lower priced cars, including one in WA for $11,500 and another in Sac for $12k.The day the car is supposed to arrive came and I made special trip all the way to the VW dealership, 20 miles away in south Reno. There was no car. More annoyingly, there was no phone call telling me that the car would not be there. The salesman then tells me that the car would be in the following day and I assures me that I would be able to come check it our/test drive it at that point. At this point I was annoyed, but willing to still give it a chance. I also told him about the Jettas in WA and Sac, at which point he told me they could match price. This made me feel a little bit better.So I came in the next day... I was asked to wait while he finished up with another customer. I waited for about 30 minutes. During this 30 minutes I listening to the same salesman desperately attempt to convince another customer that they should upgrade to a new Passat (that they are worried they can't afford) rather than stick with the Jetta they originally intended to buy. After this fun little display, I was finally shown the car. The interior was in poor good condition and overall looked very used. This would have been ok (I'm in it for the gas mileage and eventual biodiesel, not the aesthetics), if the salesman wasn't sitting there telling me how clean and well kept the car was WHILE I was looking at it. I was also told that I couldn't test drive the vehicle because it "needed a certified inspection first". Well that made sense, but why not call and tell me that to begin with so I don't make ANOTHER special 20 mile trip down to the dealership? After looking at the car, I asked what they can do for price matching, etc... "Oh, we're firm on the price, that's a great deal, etc..". What happened to price matching? I asked him whether they could transfer a vehicle from one of the other dealerships. He said yes, leads me back inside, sits me down at a computer, then says that I can look through the inventory of all the Lithia dealerships to find a one and have it transferred to Reno. He also adds that I am looking at their "special dealership website that usually only employees can see". It was the same website that I pulled up on my computer at home. Don't piss on my shoe and tell me it's raining.Within minutes I had pulled up the two specific Jettas I mentioned above, as well as several others. All of these Jettas had more options, less mileage and lower price tags than the one at Lithia Reno. I asked him why this was and he fed me some crap about prices being different in different states. $3500 lower starting price for a better car?! I don't think so. I finally just asked him to contact the dealership in WA about the $11,500 Jetta and see about getting it transferred to Reno. He agreed and said he would call them the following day then get in touch with me right after. Two days passed, no call. Finally I just called the Lithia Dealership in Kennewick WA myself. They were very friendly, told me all about the car and even offered to work with me on pricing and shipping to Reno. They also told me that they weren't contacted by the dealership in Reno. Seriously?!The next day I received a very rude phone call from the salesman telling me that "I needed to let him know what I wanted to do right away". Huh? I am a teacher and told him I could not talk, but would call him back later that afternoon. Despite this, he attempted to call me 3 more times throughout the day, leaving one very obnoxious voicemail saying "I'd better call him back". When I did try to call him back (Mainly to tell him off) his phone was "disconnected".I'm not an idiot and I don't appreciate being blatantly lied to simply to make a sale. I also don't appreciate being harassed at work and having my time wasted. What a complete nightmare. I love VW and I know it's the only dealership around here, but do yourself a favor and avoid Reno Lithia VW if at all possible. You'll save your time, money and sanity.I ended up getting a certified Jetta TDI from a chicago dealership (in MUCH better condition) for about $10,000. $600 to ship it to Reno. It's awesome and I'm about to convert it to biodiesel. :)

I waited in the showroom for 15 minutes for a sales person, only to discover them outside smoking. The sales people didn't seem at all interested in helping, and the one guy thy took the time to talk with me was missing teeth and reeked of cigarettes. The inventory of vehicles to see was small, and they tried to convince me that the model I was lookin for was not readily available, though the other dealers I contacted had plenty of stock.

Took my Jetta TDI in for a 40,000 mile service. Later, took it to a new VW dealer for an oil change and to check the transmission. $$$ later, new transmission. Come to find out, the 40,000 mile service was not done correctly or completely. They "skipped" the DSG transmission service (standard), that most likely could have prevented us from needing a new transmission. Have attempted to contact Lithia VW of Reno on numerous occasions, and have yet to hear a reply. DO not go there for ANY service. If you have had any service done there, have another VW mechanic review their work! I have filed with BBB of NV and our new VW dealership has filed a complaint with Volkswagen.

as soon as a car that fit my description came onto the lot, I got a phone call. when I got to the dealership, everyone was friendly and willin to work with me and help out in any way possible. Seth and Brian were able to work with me to get me affordable payments. they also made sure my dad-who was cosigner- could rest assured that the car was safe and reliable for me. after a week or so I got a follow up call to make sure I still loved my car and to answer any questions left unanswered. overall, a great experience!

Mariel with was so friendly and so easy to talk to through the buying process, and I hardly felt any pressure that you would expect from any car dealership. She was knowledgeable and seemed to really enjoy her job. She showed me the way the car worked before driving off the lot and checked back a few weeks later to see how things were and overall satisfaction; she even called me two months later to wish me a happy birthday!! ! had such a great experience with lithia volkswagon of reno that i doubt if i will ever look outside of volkswagon dealerships for another vehicle. Not only is the product superior, but the service was so memorable!

I wasn't sure what I wanted to buy at first but the sales reps were very helpful and after driving several cars I had decided on one but was going to wait several months. They didn't pressure me to buy that day. However, a week later I recieved a call about a tax break that was due to expire and they worked with me to finance what I wanted in order to take advantage of the tax break. I love the car and the customer service thus far has been great. I highly recommend Lithia!

My experiance was good. They held a car for me while I thought it over for an evening and I came back in and bought it. I have now purchased a new car and a used car. Comparing both experiances, first in 1998, dreadfully long and drawn out, almost left. Now for my recent experiance. Outstanding turn-a-round in customer service and appreciation. I can assure you if I felt it was not going to be a good experiance I would have simply left but, instead they work all the kinks out to help us arrive at a decent deal for me and them. Also have honored the warranty already and they have an outstanding parts department also. So my hat is off to Mariel.

Finding the right used car is often difficult. But in this case just the opposite. At the dealer for service on my other VW, I asked about a type car I was interested in. The sales rep was very pleasant and efficient, engaging me and the proper supervisors to get the price right and give me confidence to proceed. I couldn't be happier with the outcome.

Everyone was helpful, friendly, efficient and attentive. My salesman was patient and friendly and he spent quite a bit of time with me to be sure I found something I was happy with. He always returned my calls immediately and was quick to answer any questions I may have had. My experience here was HORRIBLE. This was the first time I ever bought a car and I went in there after I was referred by a friend. (im pretty sure this "friend" only wanted a referral kick back which he never even received as they promised) When I got there the man who walked me through the lot was very nice and helpful so i cant complain about him. I had a really nice 2000 VW Bug picked out when I was done looking. Right in my price range and everything. So, I sat down and started going over numbers which is where the nightmare began. I told them what i could afford as a payment yadda yadda and they "worked with that" and went to send this through the banks. They came back stating the banks would not finance me for the particular car I picked out but they could show me others that they would. By that time it was dark out and they took me to 2 cars. One looked pretty nice as far as I could see (nothing compared to the one i picked out) but it was a stick and i dont know how to drive one. the other wasnt as nice but it was an automatic. at this point they had already made me belive that with me being a first time buyer and my credit there's no way any other lot would finance me and that i was lucky they were even considering me. So i settled for this other one which was a year older more beatup more mileage and the sticker price was barely less than the one i initially picked..so we went through the motions and they "worked" with my payment and I finally got out of there. This was a saturday. Tuesday they called me stated i needed to return the car that they couldnt get me financed. so i returned the car and i was upset, i finally got a vehicle i needed to get to work and they take it from me. the finance lady acted all sympathetic giving me hugs and apologizing blah blah. i had my mom come pick me up. she asked about cosigning and they jumped on it. they worked out a payment and then came back stating "the bank wont finance you unless you buy the extended warranty. they want you to be able to pay your car payment if something goes wrong with your car." at this point i was believing everything they were feeding me because of how "nice" and "sympathetic" they were being to my situation I figured they werent out to screw me over. I was extremely wrong on this. i found out later it was illegal to require someone to buy any sort of a warranty and that the banks wouldnt have asked that. when i called them about it to ask if i could just prorate where i was on the warranty and be reimbursed the rest (since it added an extra $100/month to my pmt and didnt cover ANYTHING. and when i asked why certain things werent covered under warranty their only response was "because it's broken." so i had extra on my car payment AND had to pay out of pocket to fix anything wrong with it)and they refused. when i brought up the fact that this was illegal the "manager" i was speaking with just laughed... literally laughed and said "prove it."These are the most kaniving people I have ever met in my life. I will never buy a car from them again. I have now paid over $15000 on a car that blue books for $500. and i still owe on it. it's ridiculous and i wouldnt send my worst enemy to buy a car from these people. i'm glad they have no problem taking full advantage of an 18 year old trying to make it on her own.

I had used the dealarship 3 or 4 years ago with bad results. I got in a bind so i tried then again. What a mistake. they use scare tactics to make you thing you have a problem. They do not keep their word about what the cost. When you question them they give you a different answer. The service rep. I worked with was either really stupid or he is a lair. He could not remember what he told me a few days before, He just said his side of the story without giving ANY THOUGHT THAT I WAS RIGHT. HE HAD HIS SIDE OF THE STORY AND THERE WAS NO OTHER SIDE AND WOULD NOT EVEN ACKNOWLEDGE THAT HE HAD SAID SOMETHING DIFFERENT A FEW DAYS EARLIER. Be careful if you go there. I will continue to take my VW car to the Roseville VW dealer who is honest and does not make up scare stories that things need to be fixed on my care.

We bought a 2001 Jetta TDI from Lithia and it fell apart pretty much immediately. The day after we bought it, a coolant sensor came loose and the system dumped all its coolant. Took two days to get it back. They made us pay for the tow back, then botched the repair, so it happened again the next day. The service staff acted like we were trying to scam them somehow, and refused to give us the printout of the codes from the computer. It took 6 weeks to get reimbursed for the tow. She took it to Automotion for an independent assessment: the timing belt was at end of life and needed to be changed soon. Timing belts are part of the maintenance schedule in the owners manual, and it flags that part for replacement as part of regular maintenance at 60k and 80k miles. The Jetta was at 83k miles and the repair had not been done, despite their claim that 'all belts had been checked and replaced if worn'. In the fine print of the inspection material they exclude the timing belt, but tell you ALL belts have been taken care of. Not the most important one! If that goes while the engine is running, your engine becomes a worthless hunk of metal and costs $7,000+ to replace. Lying bastards. Replacing this part is a $1000 repair. We took it up the chain of command and were stonewalled all the way up to the regional manager of all local dealerships, who is based at the Subaru dealership. He smiled and made a big show for us, but nothing was done and we ended up angry and screwed over. My wife bought the Jetta to replace her Jeep Liberty CRD, the lease for which was about to expire, but after the experiences we had with the Jetta and Lithia, she decided she would keep the Jeep. So the Jetta sat for two months while she decided what to do with it. My work truck broke, so I took over payments and started using the Jetta. After two weeks, the check engine light started coming on briefly, then going out. I took it immediately to a car parts store - they will let you use their computer diagnostic code reading devices if you leave your ID with them while you go outside with it. 'Torque Converter Solenoid'. No bad behavior, so I kept an eye on it. Long story short, it turns out that if the torque converter starts dying, your tranny starts dying, from the high gears on down. This is what happened over the course of a month. Transmission rapidly degraded and needed to be rebuilt. So much for Lithia's inspection. VW transmissions are highly specialized and very expensive. You can't even check the fluid! It's sealed, and must be calibrated at temp by a VW technician over the course of two billable hours. Period. Arrow transmission will rebuild a TDI tranny for $3300. Not that we could afford it. Then a mystery coolant leak developed! Final straw. We took it in to Allison Automotive Group (Mitsubishi and Saab), and rolled Lithia's Lemon into the financing for another Jeep Liberty, albeit not a diesel. Much happier. I can burn gas if it means I'm not stuck with that thing. Moral of the story _Lithia VW are dishonest evil bastards who will screw you over as soon as look at you, from the repair techs on up to the regional management_. Oddly enough, though, we had zero problems from their Jeep dealership, where we bought the Liberty CRD when the lease expired. The process took a while, because of the credit crisis, but in the end they worked with us to get us the best deal. Ditto for Allison, same situation. It's nice to see some good examples after such a profoundly abysmal one.

I WOULD'NT RECOMMEND RENO LITHIA VW IF MY LIFE DEPENDED ON IT, THEY ARE LIARS & THIEVES, THEY NEVER FIXED MY CAR THE 11 TIMES I BROUGHT IT IN( FOR THE SAME PROBLEM). THEY TRIED TO CHARGE ME FOR EVERY VISIT & THE PARTS THEY REPLACED WHILE THEY WERE PLAYING THE GUESSING GAME, THEY MILKED IT UNTIL MY WARRANTY RAN OUT & THEN CHARGED ME A HUGE PRICE FOR MORE PARTS, IT STILL DOES NOT WORK, I CALLED THEM RIGHT AWAY, THEY SAID WE'LL TAKE CARE OF IT, THEY CALLED ME YESTERDAY & SAID IT WILL BE $1053.00 FOR AN EGR COOLER, & UNTIL I FIX THAT THEY WON'T LOOK ANY FURTHER TO SEE WHAT THE ORIGINAL PROBLEM IS THAT I ALREADY PAID FOR. I TOLD THEM TO FORGET IT & THEY SAID IT WILL BE $136.71 FOR THE DIAGNOSTIC CHECK. I ALREADY PAID BEFORE ALMOST $700.00 AND THEY NEVER FIXED THE PROBLEM YET & THEY WANT TO CHARGE ME AGAIN??? UNBELIEVABLE!!! I WOULDN'T HAVE ANOTHER VW BECAUSE OF THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT & THE IDIOTS THAT WORK THERE. THEY ARE RUDE, ARROGANT, IGNORANT & JUST PLAIN STUPID. UNLESS YOU LIVE CLOSE TO THE DEALERSHIP & HAVE A LOT OF TIME & MONEY TO WASTE I WOULDN'T BUY A VOLKSWAGEN, MINE IS A 2006 JETTA TDI & I WOULDN'T HAVE ANOTHER IF THEY GAVE IT TO ME. Tried to purchase a new Jetta TDI from the Reno VW dealer. What a joke and a waste of my time trying to deal with them. The salesman was nice but just played all of the typical salesmans games. Sure he "heard" us tell him that we wanted to do a cash purchase for the car. But, it all fell on deaf ears. They just kept coming back at full price MSRP plus $2500. In this down economy they want full price plus??? They tried all of the car dealer tricks so we left disgusted with this dealership. If you can only sell for the listed Dealer Adjusted price say so up front and dont waste a cash buyers time. But then what else does the dealership have to do when theres no one else on the lot looking to buy. Id avoid this place and shop anywhere else. Dealers like this in this economy, well youve got to wonder if theyll be around to service the car in 6 months. So this is why I have given them this low rating on price and overall experience.

The service writers are the problems at this place. The service writers told me to bring the car in for diagnostics after one of my coilpacks had failed. It took 7hrs for them to find the problem. After first arguing with them over having an aftermarket radio. I informed the tech that my radio was installed correctly with the K-wire removed(if this is connected it will fry the dealers scan tool) I ended up having to completely remove my cd-player before I could get it worked on. They then made me pay the $85 diagnostic fee even though the coil-pack failures are on recall. This place can be real shady so watch yourself and listen carefully. In the end everyone in the service dept had to send us an apology letter, due to VWoA contacting the dealership.

We test drove a Jetta and we were pressured very hard to buy on the spot. We had told them several times that we were going to be paying cash and would have the money in two weeks. They wanted us to finance the car and said they would see what kind of rate they could get us. We waited for a while and then someone else came out and asked why we didn't want to buy today and then asked us for money for the test drive. This person was unbelievably rude and we ended up walking out. We'll never do business with these people. What a horrible experience.
