I wanted a safe, snow friendly vehicle for my college aged son. I took him in to see Jeeps and after he didn't really like either of the two I wanted him to see, we met Rob Breinich to drive a Subaru. My son loved the car immediately and Rob's knowledge of the vehicle and it's performance was what convinced me we were looking at the right car. We had some requests with the trade that made it unusual but Rob worked hard to make things work. He was constantly available to answer questions and kept me up to date every step of the way. Excellent salesman and I'll go straight to him the next time we buy!

Luckily, a close friend reminded me that Rob works at Shelor and I was more than happy to reach out to him. The last car that I bought (from a different dealership) was known to have transmission problems and was not a good buy- additionally, the salesperson was too aggressive. Rob was a perfect balance of knowledgeable and relaxed. He reached out and/or followed up with me the perfect amount - not so much to make me feel anxious/pressured or so little that I wouldn't feel like a priority. I know he had other customers during my carbuying process, but he still answered every phone call or text promptly. He provided information and input without trying to influence my decision or pressure me into the process. He answered questions for myself (and my skeptical family members) and was kind throughout the whole process. He worked with me to figure out the best deal/what was right for me with financing and additional coverage options. He is the true opposite of a "sleazy car salesman", so if you are looking for something different - buying from Rob is a breeze. I feel confident that he would not put me in anything that was less than safe or economical enough for his immediate family and friends.

My salesman showed me each of the Subaru models and allowed me to drive each one. Rob Breinich was excellent and answered my questions. Shelor Subaru allowed me to the car home with me over the weekend to try it out before buying it. I bought my first Subaru in 1996 from Shelor and it is still running with 283,000 miles.

My husband and daughter were struck by a flying car in our 2015 Subaru Outback on a Friday. The driver lost control, crossed the median, went airborne, and landed on the hood of our car. Thankfully, they only had minor injuries and eventually made it to the wedding we were attending the next day. We drove home Sunday in our daughter's car. We had a camp adventure scheduled a week later and needed a car that would carry all the gear. A friend on Facebook had seen my post of the crash and suggested I contact Rob. On Monday, July 4th we walked into the Shelor Motor Mile Subaru dealership and drove away 3 hours later with a 2017 Subaru Outback that was practically identical to the car we had lost in the crash. We had spoken to Rob earlier that day by phone so he had the car ready for us to test drive when we got there. After such a painful experience losing our old car, it was wonderful to have such a painless purchasing experience. 5 stars for Rob and Shelor!

Working with Rob Breinich, I felt that helping us in the pursuit of the perfect used car for our daughter was his top priority. He understood and respected our budget and our desire to find the safest, most dependable car within that budget. Within minutes of meeting Rob, he becomes a friend that you can trust. We were working within a short timeframe and Rob was diligent in notifying us when options immediately became available. Not only was Rob a super nice guy, but he was extremely knowledgeable about the cars and able to communicate clearly the differences between newer and older models. Within 3 weeks, we purchased the perfect used car (within our budget) for our daughter. As I initially dreaded the entire process, I have to admit that working with Ron resulted in a relaxed, painless, completely satisfying car-buying experience. I also have to give a shout out to Shelor in general. A potential car came through the used car dealership that seemed like it would be a perfect fit. After the car was examined/tested by Shelor, the car did not pass the used car quality standards and withdrawn as available for purchase. Kudos to Shelor!

I looked at a lot of compact sedans and when the two I liked most came up short (VW and Motor Mile Toyota) I decided to try Subaru. Rob Breinich greeted me as I entered the showroom and promptly got a Impreza ready for my demo drive. He impressed me with his knowledge of the car and his smooth review of the standard and optional equipment. I immediately liked what I saw and my test drive went very well. I told Rob I would be back with my wife and when she saw and rode in it she too was enthusiastic that the Impreza would be a good car for me. Almost immediately Rob put in my order for a well-equipped model that arrived as promised on December 30, 2015.Throughout this experience Rob did an outstanding job. He quickly answered all our questions and keep us informed at every step from start to finish. At our final meeting he had the new car ready for our approval and we completed the business transaction to our complete satisfaction. This is our sixth new car purchase from Shelor and Rob Breinich is the best automotive consultant we have encountered.

I visited Motor Mile Subaru to look at and test drive some crosstreks. Rob was my consultant and I had not even anticipated making a purchase that very day, but by the end of my visit he had me sold on one! We came in to test drive a Crosstrek. We only intended to test drive, not buy that day. We are longtime Honda owners and our 04 Honda Pilot had given our family many years of dependable service. Our family needs are changing, so it made sense to look at a small vehicle with similar features. Rob Breinich was our consultant. On the second visit he continued to inform us with the features of the vehicle and the process if we decided to buy. I like a no-pressure approach and it is very important to us as a family. We tend to keep family vehicles a long time (11+ years for the last two), so a family vehicle purchase is a big decision.Rob was very thorough, polite, and relaxed throughout this process. We felt no pressure to make a decision, and there were no hidden charges or haggling. Outstanding cooperation among salespersons. Outstanding assistance with new car electronics and controls. Only negative comment was the number of different "desks" required to process the purchase of our new vehicle. It caused a vast amount of wasted time for us. The purchase of our 2015 Subaru Outback was a positive experience from the beginning to the end. I began considering trading in my 2012 Outback after reading about the new features of the 2015. I contacted Kathy Sweeney, who assisted us 3 years ago. Kathy paired us with David Hale, who answered our questions and assisted us with the deal. Actually the car we bought was factory delivered to Michigan, transferred to a dealership in Ohio, and then Shelor's drove to Cincinnati in one of their 2105 Outbacks, and then drove our new car back to Christiansburg. I have not had much opportunity to get to know the car, but I am sure this vehicle will just as good as our previous six Subarus.

I'm accustomed to working with smaller, "home town" dealers, so was pleasantly surprised when the experience at Shelor this time was easy and zero pressure. David Hale had been my phone and email contact. He couldn't have been friendlier or more helpful when we eventually met and completed the sale. The offer for extended warranty and services was thorough but not exhausting. We came away totally happy and We love the new Forester. We've put a couple million miles on Subarus since our first one in 1980, and this is the best one ever. It's "not your father's Subaru"!

We went to Subaru to buy an Impreza and were fortunate to have Chris Spencer as our salesman. From the start, he was friendly, knowledgeable, and patient. The car was for me, so I wanted it to be small yet able to handle the hills and bad weather. I wanted a car that was affordable, attractive, and serviceable. The Impreza fit the bill, and when I test drove it, I was impressed--but not yet sold. Chris told us about every model, and all of the features. Then, I test drove a Forrester and really liked that. Chris gave us a good quote on a new model, and we went home to think about it. Chris followed up in a few days just to see if we had any questions or if he could be of any help. We trusted him from the beginning and I felt like he would help me find the perfect car. I decided that the Forrester was too big for me, so he went back to finding us just the right kind of Impreza. There are so many styles and options, and Chris went through each one over and over again. He found us what we were looking for in Richmond. Yet I still wasn't sure, so we went back to the dealership and test drove a few more Imprezas. Still not ready, we walked around the lot again, and I spotted a Crosstrek that had every feature I wanted: leather seats, no navigation system, and a good color. I had ruled out the Crosstrek the first time I was there thinking it was still too big, but Chris helped us compare every detail across the Impreza, Crosstrek, and Forrester. Both my husband and I took the car for a test drive and immediately fell in love with it--Chris's promise to find us the perfect car worked, and we bought the Crosstrek then and there. He made every step of the way a pleasant experience and got us a fabulous price. I have never been more happy with a car, or a car salesman. I'm sold on Subaru, I'm sold on Chris, and I'm sold on my Crosstrek!

I went to Shelor Subaru as it was my closest Subaru dealer and I have seen so many of their cars around (so I assumed they were pretty good). At first I was primarily interested in the Forester, however I also planned to look at the Outback. During my first visit (when I wasn't really ready to buy a car yet) I met with Joe Diamond. He was great, knowledgeable about the cars and no pressure on the sale. It was a refreshing experience from the 'traditional' style dealers I had been to with my parents before. This was my first new car (not borrowed from family) though I had gone with my parents several times before when they bought new cars. Joe helped me test drive a Forester and look through a Ford Escape and Outback (would have let me test drive too but at the time I didn't want to as it was getting late). I then left with no pressure and Joe's emails later were no pressure as well (just checking if I had any questions and answering promptly the ones I had).After getting my finances set and thinking over things for a couple weeks I came back. This time Joe was temporarily helping elsewhere so I worked with David Hale. David was also great, low pressure, knowledgeable, and very helpful. I test drove both the Forester and Outback and was starting to lean Outback, though I didn't think that they had the one I wanted on the lot. Turns out that they did (it had arrived that day) but it was still wrapped up from shipping. As it was getting late David said if I was interested in driving it let him know in the morning and he would get it unwrapped so I could drive it (with no pressure to buy it of course). I took him up on the offer and after driving it the next day I purchased the Outback.David and the rest of the sales staff were great. I ended up paying exactly what I felt the car was worth after talking with other local dealers. The best part was there were no games or shading pricing. The price breakdown that David showed me in the beginning was shown at every stage and what I wrote the check for in financing. I was extremely happy with the entire process, and it was a little scary how painless and low stress they made spending >$20k.My most recent experience with the dealer was that I had the accessories department install a tow hitch on my Outback. I worked with Michael Flattery for this and he was great as well. Upfront with the cost (and very reasonable cost too) and helpful in getting an appointment set up quickly. Once I came in for the work they got started immediately and finished in the time promised. The work was excellent as well and the car was returned extremely clean (which was important as the car was still brand new).I have not dealt with service or repair, but judging from my experience so far I am sure those will be excellent as well.

Shelor Subaru Motor Mile: My first correspondence was via email. The replying salesperson did not answer my questions about a quote for a Forester or an Outback, but immediately wanted to schedule a test drive. Within a few weeks, I submitted another email request for pricing and received the information I asked for. I knew, at that point, I was dealing with a professional, Chris Spencer! I went to Shelor's to meet Chris Spencer and discuss the features of the Forester and Outback. He provided excellent customer service! At that point, I was introduced to Joe Diamond who also provided extensive info in comparing the Outback and Forester. I test drove both vehicles with Joe. His expertise and personalty, just as Chris', were admirable; they did not pressure me to buy and I appreciated that character trait in both. I find aggressive sales people to be a turn-off. They diligently worked to find a 2014 Forester with the features I wanted. Subsequently, I now have a 2014 Forester Limited! The dealership is immaculate, the staff is knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. And, again, they do not fit the stereotype of aggressive car salespeople. That might work for some potential buyers, but it's not my style. I was pleased that I did not experience the horror stories I have heard about at other dealerships. Yes, I would buy from Shelor Motor Mile again based on my recent experience. The experience scores 110%!

Dealing with the salesman (David Hale) was a pleasant experience. No pressure at all from him.The only complaint I have is that the car was low a whole quart of oil . No excuse for that. Also, although not a big deal is that the windshield washer reservoir was either empty or extremely low.

Working with Kathy Sweeney was great. In fact, this was the best new car purchasing experience I have ever had. I never once felt that Kathy was playing any of those 'games' car salesmen are famous for doing. Kathy was direct, honest and focused on getting me into a car at a great price. When I called Kathy, I had a quote from a different dealership on the table. I explained to Kathy what I was looking for in a car. She explained that they did not have one but she located one with another dealer. She then quoted me a price which was more than the offer I had from the other dealership. I told Kathy the value of my other offer. In a few minutes, Kathy called me back and offered me a quote that was $100 less than the other offer. Done deal. The next day I showed up, the car was on the lot and all I had to do was the paperwork. All in all...it was very easy. Well, Kathy made the buying process very easy for me. Like I said, I have never had a better new car buying experience.

Kevin Mohr Internet Sales Manager at Shelor Motor Mile recently helped my husband and I select a new vehicle. We owned a 2009 Subaru Forester that we wanted to trade in on a more fuel efficient 2012 Subaru Impreza hatchback, and we wanted it in the pearl white color with tan leather seats. We had already checked at another Subaru dealership and was told the Subaru Impreza hatchbacks were next to impossible to find. Kevin Mohr checked a four state area and when he couldn't locate one, he didn't let that stop him, he put in an order for us one and even managed to get it for us before we left on our vacation. I first began my Subaru Outback search online, and one of the Internet Sales Managers contacted me. His name is Trey Paige. Over the next week he gladly answered my many email questions, and assisted me in finding the model that I desired. When we showed up for our appt.at Shelor Motor Mile, his co-worker Kevin Mohr who is also an Internet Sales Manager was extremely informative, and friendly. Our first impression of this dealership was a good one. At no time were any of the staff "pushy," or aggressive, and that was much appreciated. We feel we got a fair trade for our preowned vehicle, and were satisfied with the price we ended up paying for our 2012 Subaru Outback. The biggest thing to us was their honest approach to selling us a vehicle. At no time were we made to feel uncomfortable, or pressured. The finance guy who assisted us-Eugene was a friendly surprise, and made us feel comfortable finalizing our purchase. Trey Paige went to great lengths to get the price we were most comfortable with. We can highly recommended Shelor Motor Mile-Subaru, and no other way to put it, if you need a Subaru, you need to visit Kevin and Trey at Shelor. We will recommend both of them to our friends and family with no reservations. We were hoping for a little lower price, but we were satisfied with what we got, and they definitely give you a decent price for trade-ins. Very happy with our decision to visit Shelor Motor Mile. I was especially appreciative of the attention Kathy gave to explaining all of the vehicle's features. Shelor's of Christiansburg, Virginia is a very large deadlership, selling many different makes of vehicles, and I have purchased several automobiles from them over the years. Sales personnel change freqently, and sometimes the individual customer attention was lacking in my past experiences. After having a negative experience with another local dealer, I contacted Shelor about a new Subaru Forester. Bowie was very prompt and courteous in his replies, and when it was time to talk in person it was more of the same. Right off the bat, the car was priced right where my research said it needed to be, and he worked with me on a fair trade value for my old car. Just an outstanding sales experience from step 1. Will Crosscup worked with me via email and phone to provide me with all the information that I requested ahead of time - vehicle brochure, pricing, financing options, and accessories. One of the requests that I made was that I only wanted to make one trip. I wanted to be able to trade my old vehicle and drive off with the new one on the same day. Will made this happen!!! All of the options that I requested were done prior to my scheduled pick-up date. When I arrived, the only items left to handle were required paperwork and signatures. I am very pleased and impressed with my experience at Shelors. Euguene King was informative and thorough on the paperwork side covering in detail the options available - extended warranty, gap protection, nitro-hazard, etc. I am also thrilled with the fact that Shelors handled all aspects relating to insurance and the DMV. This was truly a one-stop shopping experience for me!

I went in to get service done on my 2008 Subaru Forester and walked out with a 2011 Forester - this idea had been in the back of my mind for some time but was in no way due to sales pressure. I had three hours to kill so I thought I would just walk down to sales. The trade-in offer was better than I had expected so I decided to trade up. Kathy Sweeny was the sales representative and I found her to be efficient and forthright; there was no pressure to hurry up and make a decision. I had several questions about the extended warrenty, which she found the answers to and got back to me via email in just a few days. Overall the experiance was pleasant and I would recommend shopping for a new vehicle at Shelor Motor Mile - if you are looking for a Subaru I would recommend Kathy any time.

End experience was great, and I enjoy my new vehicle. The price negotiations took too long, as the dealer was speaking to his manager for way too long just to get a price for me to accept. Day after purchasing Check Engine light came one which is extremely frustrating, but there was a software update which required me to drive in and receive service. The titling of the car was not ideal and caused a pretty large headache for me when it came to insurance. I was told even though I was titling in my name, I could remain on my parent's insurance until I could get my own. When speaking with my insurance agent he informed me this was not the case, and this was poor advice by the business rep. While I'm not positive about the legalities of insurance law, this ended up being a match of "He Said.. He said" as my insurance agent saying one thing and the dealer saying he was wrong, it still made me feel like a fast sale was more important, which may or may not be the case. All was resolved so no harm done. Everything was explained in depth to me regarding paperwork and my sales person was very helpful during the stressful times. I liked the grand tour the dealer gave after purchasing so I would know where to go for service and explained all of the services offered by Shelor. All of the buildings were very up to date and modern.I enjoyed the way Shelor did business overall, but the actual stress and frustration is what caused the "Overall experience" to be low. Most customers would not have the problems I did, I suspect.

She is an asset to your business.Melissa and Ken were also very helpful. Melissa explained the paperwork thoroughly although I am in the same business and knew much of it already. She also went over everything in great detail and I had no intention of buying an extended warranty on this car, but after she explained how it works and the price and how much it would change my payment, I actually did purchase the warranty.I was very pleased with the entire purchasing experience at Shelor Motor Mile and will definitely recommend to any one I know that is looking to buy a new car to contact you first.

Kathy quickly promptly greeted us on the lot, and when I told her what model I wanted, she found one right away. Shelor's first price blew the competition's price out of the water. I really liked the paperwork that showed the trade difference as well as the estimated payment; I had never seen this before I was very pleased with the price and with Kathy's professionalism and personal touch. I likewise found the finance manager very professional and personable. I like how he showed the options and exactly how they would increase the payment. I had never seen this before either.Overall, I was very pleased with Shelor and found it well worth the hour's drive!

My husband and I had been talking for a while about trading in two older cars for a new or slightly used Subaru Outback. We went to Shelor to look at the cars on the lot, and Kathy Sweeney was the first to greet us there. We found her to be extremely friendly and helpful in a low-key way. We liked the fact that she was not trying to give us a "hard sell" but instead just trying to make sure she understood our wishes and needs and could provide helpful answers to all our questions. In the end her approach was one of the major factors that "sold" us on a new car from Shelor. Kathy introduced us to other sales people and supervisors along the way. She was able to obtain for us within a few days the exact model and color we wanted, and with no prior commitment for us to actually purchase it. She and everyone else at Shelor had done their homework on our behalf when we returned a week later, so that the business/financial end of our transaction proceeded very smoothly and quickly, especially compared to other such transactions we have had at different dealerships in the past. We will definitely recommend Shelor AND Kathy Sweeney to others in the future!

We went to Shelor to trade in our SUV. We had talked w/ Bowie over the phone the day before about the price range we wanted our payment to be within and he told us to come on up and he would work with us. Bowie was great! He took the time to not only let us test drive the original car we were looking at but also 2 others. We never felt pressured by him to buy any of the cars (unlike the experience we had when we purchased the SUV). He took the time to go through everything with us and answer any and all questions that we had. We will definitely be back to Shelor again when it's time for another new car!
