We were so thankful for the excellent service, especially after a terrible experience just before. We were given the time we needed to see the car we drove 1.5 hrs to see. The car was advertised perfectly, in great condition, and after 1 hr we bought it! The purchasing process was also smooth, we traded in our car and felt it was easy and straightforward. Would highly recommend!

I've been a customer for at least 12 years. I've never experienced any issues. They have taken excellent care of my automobiles. Any repairs have been done in a timely manor and I've never had to bring it back because it wasn't done right. An excellent dealership and quality people.

I recently discovered my leased 2014 VW CC Executive has defective air bags, problem is I was never notified. Having paid 33 payments I wanted to turn in the car early because I didn't want my family driving the car. VW & Tekata have NO fixes, and I was told that I can turn the car in, but needed to pay the additional 3 payments and a $350 disposition fee. I have tried speaking to the dealer, no help. When contacting VW of America I was told in no uncertain terms that there was nothing they could do about any type of adjustment. After speaking to a "VW Leadership" member ( Keith B.), he had the nerve to hang up on me. Our family has had VW's for 16 years, the operative word being HAD. Good luck with your concept of customer service. You have seen the last of my money. jc91945

Went to trade in my BMW for VW... I have never had a worse sales experience. When I was in the dealership Jeff promised me they would take care of fees on the lease turn in, a month later they tell me they can't. Used car was nice but had no inspection sticker when I bought it and they gave me a hard time getting a new one, even though they had it there!!!Asked me to keep my insurance on my car that I turned in for a month so they could drive it to return it??? Then I take my insurance off and DMV is now contacting me saying I needed insurance becuse they didn't turn my car in for a week. Making me spend hours correcting their mistakes. Got my plates the day before my temps expired. The guy was classic used car salesman who just wanted the deal and would tell me whatever they wanted to get me to buy.... will never buy from the unless I can't find the car anywhere else. I felt like it was their first time selling a car. I'll go back to Flemington dealers in the future.

I found a listing for a new vehicle called the dealership and was told it was a mistake and they wouldn't honor price after sending me a screen shoot of the listing. Loosing faith in the brand. I have a CC that has a safety recall for several months that they have no solution for. Crazy it's a safety issues as well as a credibility issue. I have had over 40 from the air cooled to the new CC but after this i am done. Once again all about the almighty dollar at all costs including possibly life. Also thanks for nothing vw of America. I contacted you for help and you accomplished less than I did.

Thank you for a pleasant sales experience from someone who doesn't switch cars terribly often..I really appreciated Oscar's knowledge of the vehicles, how easily he could speak to the differences and benefits of the packages. He was very patient and very informative and there was no pressure to purchase. Once I had purchased, Oscar sat with me to demo the use of all those features I would immediately need for the drive home which I thought this was truly unique and lovely service.I also appreciated the time spent with Kerry who clearly communicated all the financial options.

My experience was quite pleasurable. After dealing with not so accommodating salesmen at other dealerships, it was refreshing to work with the staff here. This was my first time purchasing a car so I was a bit nervous and overwhelmed with the process, but Phil provided quality customer service and aided in making the process as smooth as possible for me. Phil was extremely helpful in hashing out a deal with me. As most people I don't have a lot of time in my day to spend in a dealership. Phil was able to work with me on the phone. And presented me with three different options to fit my financial needs. By the time I got to the dealership Phil was outside with the vehicles waiting for me. Couple of handshakes and a few signatures and I was on my way. I would have to say it was one of the most pleasurable and least stressful car buying experiences I've ever had. I highly recommend Phil for all you car buying needs.

They will not provide a temporary registration, which NJ has. Instead they want to charge huge fees to register the vehicle in your state saying they will send you the difference. They will not. They say it's an administrative fee for filing and you don't get your money back.

I am so glad Andrea Ugalde is my Service Aadvisor. She is always very friendly and courteous, with outstanding customer service skills. She is always able to explain the details of what type of work my car needs in language I can understand and she does not mind my asking additional explanations. She always remembers to ask me if there is anything in particular I would like the service technicians to check. I appreciate the fact that the service technicians snapped in the grille work on the front of my car and re-inserted the back ashtray, as I had asked Andrea. The employees at the Cashier's Counter are also friendly and well-organized. I also like the Customer Waiting Area and the complimentary beverages. The bathroom is always clean and stocked with supplies. The car wash is a welcome complimentary service (although I wish the technicians would vacuum the interior as I never have the time to do so). I also appreciate the availability of a complimentary courtesy car, as I know other agencies do not provide such easy access to a courtesy car. Thank you to the staff of Paul Miller Volkswagen of Bernardsville for an outstanding service experience.

Just purchased a 2005 Hummer H2 from this dealership. Saw it online and sent an email showing interest. I was contacted shortly after and was treated TOP NOTCH from that very moment. I had the pleasure of dealing with Phil Drogon. I requested additional photos of the vehicle and they were in my in box before I could blink. I couldn't come to the dealership for a few days and he stayed in touch with me until I could make the drive to NJ, asi live in NY. Test drive, deal and financing went smooth and I drove the vehicle home a few hours later. Class, courtesy, and professionalism were all present from everyone there. I had been looking at used vehicles on cars.com for a very long time. When I finally decided on the model of car I wanted to buy I found Paul Miller VW in Bernardsville had several cars that were possibilities. After a disaster the week before in which I drove 6 hours to and from a dealership to see a car that had already been sold (my fault). This time I made sure the cars I wanted to see were still there. The salesman I dealt with, Phil Drogon is a really nice, no pressure, very accommodating type of guy. Paul Miller offered me the highest trade in value for my vehicle that I had gotten up until that point. They worked on the selling price a little bit and they made it easier for me to put a deposit towards the purchase as well. I ended up making another trip back to the dealer the following week because in my haste to make a deal I had forgot to bring all the stuff that went with my trade in (extra keys, parts, etc.). Also I had seen some minor issues on my 'new' car when I brought it home that I had not seen when I had bought it the week before. Phil and everyone that I dealt with at Paul Miller VW were great. They adjusted a door that wasn't closing flush. They buffed out a minor blemish on the hood. Most importantly and impressively they were able to remove a small dent on a crease in the body work that I thought for sure wasn't going to come out. Also while I was waiting for the repairs to be done I ordered some parts which I got at a discount. I work for a company that customers are offered the opportunity to give their reviews on the service we perform. Unfortunately the majority of the reviews are negative because that is human nature. You know the saying, I'm paraphrasing here, an unhappy customer will tell 20 people vs. a happy customer who may tell 1. This is why I realize that it's important to recognize outstanding service. I know I personally wish more satisfied customers would let my boss know that me and my co-workers did a good job. Thanks Phil and crew! I appreciate the way you took care of me and my new ride!

I drove a good distance to do a trade-in for a very recent Audi A6 at Paul Miller VW. Phil Drogon welcomed me outside in my car. He was very professional and made my buying experience very enjoyable. The only down fall to Paul Mill VM was that I think they could have done a little better on my trade in. But never the less Phil made it worth me driving the distance and he was able to make me drive off the lot with this remarkable beast of a car. I don't wright to many reviews but I have to shout this from the top. Paul Miller VW is the best. I do a lot of my own work so took my 2012 GTI in for an oil change, There prices are very good. It only costs a few $$ more than buying the parts at an auto parts store. Had a recall and asked Andria for a price on a few things I know my car needed. (window switch and cam position sensor). Turned out it was the timing chains and not the sensor. She said let me give you a loaner and I will talk to VW for you as my car was only a few thousand miles out of powertrain warranty. She got everything covered was so nice and updated me every step of the way. They really know the meaning of customer service. I had almost given up of VW dealers having a bad exp with one in Rockaway.

I am very pleased with the service I received and the help from your people whether it be direct or over the phone My car broke down and your personnel helped me to get a towing service to take my car to your facilities in Bernardsville. They did the repair work right away and also did the other service work that I has requested earlier to have done next week. All got done I am very pleased with how fast they did it all and kept me appraised.The problem with the car was a failure of the clutch system. I also had a rear light that was out. All of this was taken car of and I have my car back as of yesterday. It runs like new. Thanks.

We bought a used car here. It wasn't a VW but they had the card we wanted. Haggling was minimal which was good and the financing guy was nice as well. Didn't feel too smarmy which was a relief. The car had some issues in the end. The interior was quite dirty, I had to re-detail it and removed a ton of grime on the steering wheel, headrests, doors, etc. after an hour of wiping down the car. The electronic trunk release doesn't work as well so we unlock it and then fight to lift the trunk open. The second letdown battery life as dead or it just doesn't work. Only a powertrain warranty offered so we are out of luck for a repair. So all in all not a bad experience, but definitely could've been a little better. Sometimes it's the little details that make the difference.

Overall excellent customer service! The staff seemed nice and welcoming! I had a smooth transition and short delivery, even offered refreshments upon arrival. I have another GLI purchased from Trend, however this one from Paul Miller is a 2016. Only downfall I had was the back chair being loose, as it was folding up and down on its own, but they took care of that and was ready to go. Overall great service, highly recommended!

I'm very happy I drove a little further to the Paul Miller VW dealer to get a good deal on a CPO Tiguan. The whole process before and after the sale went without a hitch. The dealership has a very comfortable atmosphere. If you want to feel relaxed during a car-buying experience, this is definitely the place to go.

I went into the dealer today to buy a car for my son. My sales consultant was Michael Sclafani. He was excellent!!!! He was pro active and called me in the morning to make sure he was able to help us with a car before we took the drive out. He had the car pulled out and ready for us to look at when we arrived. He was upfront with the price and financing. I deal with Kerry Delong in the finance department and he equally excellent. There was no pressure to purchase a car that we could not afford. I would recommend this dealer and would buy from again!!!!!

I thought that Jeffrey Brandon did his best to help me find the car that I wanted. I did want a sun roof and thought I had one but unfortunately the car chosen didn't have one. Nonetheless, the car was immaculate and drives well so I shall overlook the absence of the sun roof! Jeff was extremely helpful and even came to pick me up from Chatham to pick up my car at the dealership. Was to, I need brakes before even reaching 30,000 miles at the time I askd why they told me it was my driving ,Fyi to all I travel mostly highway to work on 78. Once I had them repaired customer service ask me to fill out a survey, I told them I was upst needing brakes so early they contacted this dealership and now they told me it was rust....well which one was it? And why should they be rusted ..I only have 30,000 if that's true did it sit on there lot to long prior selling it to me.? I loved my salesmen when purchasing my vehicle and wanted so bad to have a place to bring my car local but the manager in service never even called me back......Don't trust there service department be very careful

I thought I was in good hands puchasing a car from a dealer ship in my comunity. I had all my services done on my car from them. I once hear a customer complaining at the service counter and thought it was a Isolated incident untill they told me I needed breaks on a car that didnt even have 30,000 miles on it . I was first told it was due to my driving . Well I work 20 minutes away from home and most of my commute is highway but I did it , then a survery came and I stated it was disapointing to need new breaks with so little miles they contacted dealership that then said it was rust?? Rust they never said that and why rust it was a new car purchase , I keep it in a garage , if its rust did they have it on a lot too long could that cause it ...Listen I dont know but they didnt care and call Customer Care Please before buying a car you will be on hold at least a hour I tried numerous times it was always the same . Why is customer care so Busy ??? Be careful I!!!

I was fishing for a blown fuse on a Saturday, when I managed to pull a fuse which shut down the car and put it into complete lockdown...key was stuck in the ignition, and the car was in park...in my garage. I called Dave in service a few times, and he really was patient and tried to help over the phone. Alas, the car had to be towed to the dealership. Fortunately, my tow driver (Sam from DeFalco's) knew how to manually unlock the gear shift and get it into neutral. Dave got my car in for service right away...solved the problem, re-programmed what was required, and got me back on the road with a minor charge for time spent. I was very impressed and grateful. Thanks Paul Miller VW!

The last time I bought a suit was more of task than buying this car. Absolutely no high pressure sales tactics. The salesman, Jeff Brandon, could not have been an easier going guy. So easy to deal with. I thought the listed price for the car was more than fair and was no trouble taking a little off the listed price and I got a little more on my trade than I thought it was worth. I got a great finance rate on my loan and I don't think it took more than 90 minutes to take a test drive, settle on a price, get the financing, sign the paperwork then drive away in a clean car.

They would not accept our check, even though we presented a current statement indicating a more than adequate balance. We had driven three hours to the dealership and desired to take the new vehicle home. Our wrangling with our insurance company finally produced results. It was not an enjoyable experience.

I purchased a pretty rare CPO CC R-line manual from this dealership and dealt with Michael Sclafani who was great. We agreed on a price over the phone, the next day I went there to pick up the car and it was waiting for me right in the front, all clean and ready to go. Spent less than an hour signing all the paperwork that was prepared without any surprises or issues. Michael did a great job delivering the car, showing me all the functions and features. The sales staff was very friendly, and seemed to be Volkswagen enthusiasts themselves. There are 4 other Volkswagen dealerships closer to me but I would prefer to purchase another Volkswagen from Paul Miller VW of Bernardsville .

I was in a bit of a bind since my previous VW GTI was totaled and desperately wanted a pre-owned Golf R of the same generation to replace it. I found one at the Manhattan VW location but at the last minute they said it needed additional repairs due to a recall and couldn't release it to me. I had been renting a car for a month by this time and desperately needed a car. Then I found a perfect match at Paul Miller. With the help of the staff I was able to purchase my car and drive home with it the same day. I was actually rushing them because I'm a doctor and needed to see patients later that day. My salesman, Domingo Iglesias, was very knowledgeable about the vehicle I was interested in, the 2015 Tiquan, and allowed me to test a number of vehicles. At delivery he thoroughly explained the vehicle's features to me and my son, who will be the primary driver. He also introduced us to the Service staff. In addition, there was no pressure from any of the dealership representatives I dealt with to purchase additional pachages. I was very pleased with my experience.

Brought my car in for it's 50K service; I was able to bring it in at an early time as I had hoped. I was greeted right away to discuss what work I needed done on my car and was given constant updates as to it's status and when I should expect it to be completed. Once they identified a few additional service needs the service manager went over everything and offered to provide a ride so I could head home rather than wait in the service waiting room.We went over what could be done and which was most important and made arrangements for future work required. The service manager also reviewed next steps and what I would need for my car in the future.Very good experience.

I would like to add that Domingo, my personal car sales professional, was considerate, attentive, informative and delivered an auto buying experience that was better than any I have had in over 50 years of car purchasing from any dealer with any make of car. My first experience with Paul Miller VW was with Bill, a manager who guided (not pushed) my decision to even walk into this dealership. He, like Domingo listens to the customers' needs. Buying a car does not have to be an unpleasant experience of tug and pull. This is my first VW. It will not be my last.

First, I would like to extend my deepest apology to Jeff Brandon and Darrel Bernards for misjudging them in my previous review dated June 22, 2015 in regards with purchasing a 2009 Dodge Journey from Paul Miller Volkswagen in Bernardsville, NJ. The vehicle was problematic right from the beginning. However, Darrel and Jeff were very courteous to take the vehicle back even though I purchased the vehicle under AS IS condition and waived all types of warranties that I was offered.When I took the car back to the dealership to install the license plates about a week after purchasing it, the vehicle died right in the parking lot and did not start. Even though, the dealership had no obligation to repair the vehicle at no cost, both gentlemen came outside and called the technicians to start the vehicle. They tried and worked diligently to fix the car. But, their attempt was unsuccessful and the car did not turn on. Then, they offered a great deal on a 2015 Volkswagen Jetta to credit me the cost of the Dodge toward the cost of the Jetta. Since it was almost at the end of the business day, we did not complete the transaction. I left the car at the dealership and Jeff drove me home in his personal vehicle. The next day, I went back to the dealership, completed the transaction and drove my new Jetta home.I am hoping that Mr. Miller reads this review to realize that Jeff and Darrell are among of his best and most dedicated sales associates and managers. Paul Miller Volkswagen is the best because of employees like Jeff and Darrel

Noah was my initial point of contact after seeing the Jetta I wanted advertised on cars.com. He responded to me with minutes of getting in touch with him, provided pictures of the car as the silver Jetta I wanted had just come in. After setting up the time he connected me with Zee. She arranged the test drive and got the paperwork all done perfectly. No pressure and was there to answer questions. Overall after trying two other VW dealerships and 4 others and speaking with over 10 Paul Miller Volkswagen had no hidden fees and gimmicks. Other VW dealers hide their commissions in fees and leave it to the point of sale to explain the high cost which can be as high as 15% more. Here no such thing and this is a large part of why if you are reading this far to reach out to Noah and ask him to get you into test drive a car as IMHO other dealers for VW waste your time.

I purchased a 2009 Dodge Journey on 6/18/2015. They promised to flush the vehicle Transmission Fluid prior to finalize the sale upon picking up the car. However, after i signed the documents, I noticed that this service is not listed. I have called the dealership several times and left numerous messages to speak to Jeff Brandon, the sales person, Darrel, the floor Manager, and James Walker, the Service Department Manager, just to find out whether the Trans Fluid has been flushed or not. No one even gave me the courtesy to return my calls. Also, I have discovered a lot of problems with the vehicle after I picked it up. They use nothing but the cheap salesmanship tricks" Oh it is a very good car, buy it just to sell you the vehicle. After that, they don't even know you. I could not have been more pleased with the experience. Peter was the salesman I dealt with after speaking with Noah regarding the model of interest. Peter was so knowledgeable about the car, being a VW guy himself it did not surprise me he knew so much about the vehicle, and even older Volkswagen cars we talked about. The buying process was a breeze, got a test drive and knew I wanted it, but it always comes down to the person you're dealing with (to me at least) and his attention to us as buyers was phenomenal. Also the fact that I was buying a 3 year old car did not make my business feel less appreciated, something I have noticed at other dealerships when you aren't buying a brand new model, so I am very thankful to everyone there for the great experience; I look forward to doing business with them in the future.

Could be the worsrt service department I have ever dealt with. The sales experience was great and easy. I bought a '13 GLI and the sales staff was exceptional. Everything was great until you have to deal with the service area. Long story short, I had interior rattles, they have tried 4 times to fix it under warranty but could not. In the time that they were "fixing" my car they also bent my trunk and swirled the paint during one of the complimentary car washes. It was so bad that they had to have the car professionally detailed to try to repair the damage. Now my car is rattling again but when I call the service area, they screen my calls, send me to voicemail and never call me back. If your car is a lease and you dont really care about it then by all means, go get your car serviced there but if you care about your car, trust me and go to any other dealer. Save yourself the aggrevation of their incompetence.

This was my second vehicle purchase from this dealer. I went from a 2012 Jetta SEL (manual) to a 2015 GLI (automatic). Peter was very easy to work with and I had no issues. Had decided to stay with my current car after shopping around. This dealer called and was willing to work with my needs to get a deal I could feel good about. Car looks fantastic and drives perfect. I went into test drive a Golf R, which are bit hard to locate. Jeff was very helpful in answering my questions and a pleasure to work with. Some dealers would take advantage of a model's rarity and there was none of that. Just the opposite. We have been there to investigate and to buy - A GREAT place to go if you want a no pressure experience from a bunch of very nice people!When we arrived with our 2012 Passat which we had purchased through Michael Sclafani he introduced us to Jeff Brandon who in the snowy weather managed to retrieve 3 different Passat models for our test drive and patiently walked us through the variety of financial and purchase options. When we decided - we left while they prepped the car and got some lunch, brought it back and were welcomed in the service area to relax and have our lunch there by the service team. Again the attitude permeates the entire staff. There must be something they are doing right to have two excellent experiences in a row at the same dealership. We certainly have had some nightmares at other places and have walked away thinking "what do these numskulls think they are doing? they can treat us like we're idiots and still convince us to buy? really?" Thanks to Jeff Brandon and Michael Sclafani for the great purchase experience. I have been there fore service 3 times and they were courteous and helpful, always completely explaining they work to be done and finishing the job quickly.You have to go there when you are looking OR when you are buying.

I had a recent recall on my car and I needed to bring it to the dealer. I am also shopping around for another dealer as I had terrible experiences with "other" ones in the past. I was reluctant trying a different dealer but as soon as I walked in the door my experience was very positive. "Right car to buy, Wrong place to buy it" Purchased used 2008 Passat from Paul Miller VW. I planned on going to DMV to title & register the car. I was told by Craig Dotoli, manager, to register the car at the dealership is the same as if you were to go to DMV. My sales rep Jeff Brandon, nice guy, said the dealership had the title, so I didn't think twice. This car is a gift for a friend who had suffered a brain aneurysm back in 2013, was in the hospital and rehab for 8 months, lost his car and if it weren't for some close friends, he would have lost his house as well. The car cost $7300. The paperwork presented read $7306, (no big deal) car was paid in full. I was then charge an additional $299 to prepare the documents and an additional $25.00 because when P.M. took possession of the car, title wasn't put in dealerships name. Now, Craig is telling me that the car's title will take up to 1 month to get.. This car was a Christmas gift, Craig was aware of that & the story I just explained. I could have had the car's title if I would have went to DMV in the first place. Instead, I was charged an extra $329. I called him out on this, and that I needed the title much sooner then that, Craig promised he will get back to me. I left three messages since then, he hasn't returned any of my calls. It would have been nice to present this car with the title in hand to a friend who it took nearly two years to get his life back. Craig clearly knew what he was doing, and has done this before.. Bought two VW's in one month from Paul Miller VW, it's been over a month and we are still waiting for our registration of one of the vehicles since they don't have the title as of yet. Is the dealership suppose to have a "title" prior to selling it to the consumer?? I think so!No one seems to care, though they want to move units and charge you $299 for paperwork handling...Poor follow up, promises, promises and promises....and we are still waiting for this title. Ever since Paul Miller took over from Bernardsville VW the experience has gone down hill.

I've had to edit my comments at the risk of being too long-winded. The Readers' Digest version is this: after deciding to purchase my VW on behalf of a family member at lease end I was told by VW to deal directly with the dealer to streamline the process. Of course, there's also a profit for the dealer but I'm alright with that if they make the process easier. Dealing with the finance manager at this dealership -Craig Dotoli- turned out to be an exasperating experience. The requested sum of money was paid to the dealer, including all motor vehicle and registration fees for the out-of-state transaction. By the way, this final sum was several hundred dollars higher than the initial quoted price and was not really satisfactorily explained; yet, I wanted to complete the transaction and wanted to trust the integrity of the dealer. (You can stop laughing now!) In summary here 's what happened: a) the car couldn't be driven for ten days after the temporary plate expired because the dealer didn't realize they had already received the necessary paperwork from VW and that it was just sitting on someones' desk in the interim; b) calls to Craig Dotoli during this period resulted in not a single callback; only persistent calling got me through and his explanation was "we haven't received the paperwork yet"; c) the registration fee had not been paid to the state even though this fee was specifically paid for with my check. Item "a" is excusable as a normal screw-up that could happen anywhere. But the persistent lack of communication from the finance manager was intentional. He's one of those people who uses voicemail as a "do-not-disturb" sign. Worst of all, the registration fee that the dealer collected from me was not paid to the motor vehicle bureau. No explanation has been forthcoming. This is a nice, clean-looking dealership but I was treated very shabbily by their finance manager who, with his profit in hand, just wanted me to disappear. Caveat emptor!

I went straight to Bernardsville and Domingo and Craig were on the situation straight away. I was even able to pick up the car that day. When my 1979 plymouth finally bit the dust i dreaded the idea of having to go through the car buying process, which obviously can be quite stressful at times given the magnitude of this impending purchase/commitment. And it was quite stressful, at least it was up until I went to this dealership & was greeted by Peter Franzoni. car repaired to my satisfaction.fluids replaced, tires rotated. minor issues occurred:one tier was inflated to 48psi. all others were 10psi less. i returned to the service desk which had been closed. the cashier was still there and was excellent and found a service person to help. by then, i had figured out the problem.clock had reset to 00:00 due to replacement of headlights and i assume re-set of overall car system.

Although the whole process was good, I would say that the 112 CPO Inspection was rushed. Had isues the same night I bought the car home. Was told that this particular dealer is very picky with its CPO Inspections. On the contrary I have to come back to the dealership not once, but twice for a repair on a CPO vehicle. My sales person was great, but was never offered and compensation for the inconvenience of coming back to the dealership for the repair. The price paid on the vehicle was fair and the trade in was not fair, but I made the deal knowing that as well. Overall a decent experience and will learned a few things of what not to do on my next purchase.

We were visiting family in NJ and realized before heading home to VA that our car was hemorrhaging coolant. VW Roadside Assitance towed the car to Paul Miller VW and they got to work early Monday morning. We understand the parts took an extra day to receive but Andrea offered us a loaner, kept in constant contact with us throughout the process, and got us in touch with VW to help with some of the unplanned expenses that were the result of our extended stay. An emergency stop at this location turned out to be a much more positive experience than most emergencies are. Within an hour, the repair was done and I was on my way. He arranged to have the car ready upon our arrival in New Jersey, where we spend the summer months, and to have the car registered in Florida. We turned in the 2010 lease car at a Florida dealership before coming north. We could have taken a new lease in Florida. However, we waited to lease in New Jersey because of the positive experience we had with Mike when we took the 2010 lease at Bernardsville VW. 15 years a VW customer, I found this dealership the most uncooperative with a monumental lack of customer loyalty. Be very careful. Write everything down, because they due have a practice of denying any claims. Car options claimed on the CC Executive I leased were never installed or available on this car. True, buyer beware, but with 15 years of history I expected more, and with all the options claimed I would have to spend 5 hours at the dealership going over them all. Mr. Miller ( Paul Millers son ) gave me lots of lip service, but no resolution to my problems. With 200 miles on the car, I asked to please take the car back for my total refund, and was told they were not the company that hold the lease agreement, so they could do nothing about it. The car itself is a great car, BUT, go to another dealership.

Extremely rude customer service (Joe Fallivene). Paul Miller broke my window track and they refuse to fix it. Now my window won't shut all the way. They also did an oil change and left a metal sheet loose which was clanging around until I got it fixed at another dealer. Joe will tell his customers to "please give him all 10s" on the electronic surveys. I was not sent a survey because I was not happy with my experience and they do not appreciate honest answers.

Mis-sold the car, dealer used paperwork to hide the fact that a car that came with no options, had in fact had an option that could not be de-selected actually deselected by the dealer (Of note VW still advertising a car online that is NEVER fitted with the spec). Let's put it this way - buy a car from paul miller vw and count the wheels before driving off, as far as they are concerned if it only has three then it's your fault not theirs. Also turned up to collect the car and the dealer refused to hand over the keys, saying my wife needed to sign for the car (Untrue and the second time I turned up she did not have to), despite calling twice to let the dealer know I was coming alone, and having already paid for the car. Therefore illegally withheld the car keys. Don't be fooled by the smiles. The laugh being WE BOUGHT THIS CAR ONLINE - all they had to do was hand over the keys. Shake hands with them by all means, but check how many fingers you have afterwards. Bad use of Paul Millers name.

My wife and I visited this dealership on 3/2/2013. We are in the market for a new car and considering Passat. We waited in the showroom for about 5 minutes. There was no receptionist around and none of the sales folks asked if we needed help. I could have understood if they were busy but there was one other customer when we got there. I am not sure why but the sale folks seem to be unhelpful to say the least.

I have been going to this dealer for service for several years since they are the most convenient Volkswagen dealer. The experience is very mixed. Most recently, we needed to replace a broken strap for the gas tank. They didn't have the part. The promised the part four days later. We showed up, no part, no apology. They promised the part three more days later, this time they promised to call to confirm. No call. It is now nine days since we brought the car in ...I called to see if the part has arrived. They don't know, they will have to find out and call back.

This dealership stole my deposit of $750.00 and would not work with me to settle this botched transaction. The sales manager told me rudely "Your not getting your deposit back!". This happened because i decided not to wait until february 2012 for a car ordered in november 2011. Please look at their other negative customer review on google before shopping there. This is a great dealership. I had been searching for my car for a few weeks, as it was not widely available. I had been talking to dealerships left and right, and most left me w/that "sleezy" salesperson type vibe. Maybe 2 or 3 of the places I spoke w/didn't give me that feeling. But the level of service and customer appreciation I felt from Bernardsville was like no other.Upon finding the car on some random auto site, I emailed the dealer right away. And unlike EVERY OTHER PLACE I CONTACTED, Heather responded to my email in LESS THAN 5 MINUTES. WOW!!! We practically had an entire conversation over email in less than the amount of time it took for any other dealer to just get back to my first email. I finally called her later that night, and she placed me in contact w/Kevin. Kevin was very friendly, helpful, and straightforward. The amount of time he spent w/me was, IMO, pretty crazy. He was so unbelievably helpful. We went over everything possible. He has even contacted me a few times post sale to see how I was, what I still felt about the car, and to see if he could help me in anyway possible. And he has. He has still been there to answer questions I may have. When I went back to pick up my plates, he pretty much dropped everything he was doing to just come out and put my plates on for me. AMAZING. I was looking for VW dealerships that were able to offer the 2012 GTI, two-door manual transmission in the base package. I shopped around and spoke with a variety of salespeople at different delearships, and I was immediately put at ease when I spoke with Bill Gaffney of Bernardsville. I normally am on the defensive with car salesmen, but Bill allowed me to feel as though he would be able to do his job without putting me at a disadvantage. I normally feel that these two concepts are mutually exclusive, so this was a relief. Everyone at the delearship was extremely helpful and professional, and they made me feel that I was not being led astray by buying through them. I had been looking on line for a New Beetle Diesel for a while. On Saturday September 3rd I found your listing for the 2005 Beetle Diesel. I came over that day and Peter took me thru the car and took it out for a test drive and before I left we had completed the purchase. On Thursday Sept 8th Peter call ed me to let me know that the vehicle would be ready for pick up on Friday the 9th. My Son brought me over on Friday and I was taken care of and left the Dealership with the vehicle by 1245. I initially interacted with Mike B, and he was incredibly straightforward and friendly. I got a good price through the internet, and ended up paying less than invoice for a car they brought in from another dealer. However, we negotiated a price that was NOT the one used to calculate the lease payments ($200 more)! The lease calculations were not transparent, and Jesse was not happy when I asked to see the price and compare it to the invoice. Also, he tried to get me to sign a lease with a date 6 days prior, and was very frustrated when asked to change it, and Mike had to come over and reassure me that that was fair and restore the pleasant atmosphere. (If this were my first visit and not my final visit, I would have taken my business elsewhere based on the unprofessionalism and attitude.) However, I give him and the dealership the benefit of the doubt because he is new and the finance manager was out that day. I would highly recommend working with Mike B.

2008 VW Jetta SE/ Salisbury Red, 20K miles. Auto/ 6 speed. Found the car & dealership online at eBay & Craigs List. Read reviews on the dealership & felt pretty comfortable about doing business with them. Placed a call & reached agreement on a price with Jesse based on the Pics/Mileage & features I wanted etc. Drove down from Albany, NY region to get the car. Pretty seamless process but I did feel a tad rushed. Brief look over the car & it seemed well detailed with some scuffs/scratches/dings here and there. Some that Jesse pointed out, some I showed to him. Drove the car home & discovered the next morning that the front bumper was off its track & pretty badly scuffed/scraped in several spots, including cracked chrome. I called Jesse & he got the okay from the sales manager for me to return the car for full refund if I wasnt satisfied. Not doing that but annoyed I have to pay to get the bumper looking right since it is more than cosmetic.Good warrantee, base till June, 2012, then certified 2/24 after that. Good thing, because the car has had three issues in my 5 days of ownership. 1) drivers side visor/mirror light doesnt work (it is not the light). Whole unit needs replacing. 2) Passenger side reverse/parking light went out within the first (2) days. 3) The power door locks dont work correctly. Took it to a local dealer today, they replaced (2) door latches, and the locks still arent functioning correctly. My point here is simple. The dealership should have seen the bumper issue & taken care of it BEFORE the sale of this car. Also, do a better/ more thorough job with the certified inspection. Alot of stuff, I know. Overall, I would recommend this dealership for price, professionalism, cleanliness etc to friends/family but suggest they look over and inspect the used inventory more closely in the future.

This was my first car buying experience and this dealership made it a great experience. Peter was very patience, easy to reach, and explained things very well. The price was great, and the dealership was able to match another quote I had gotten. Peter really worked with me to get me the car I wanted, even though they did not have it their dealership with the options I wanted. He managed to get the car I wanted to the dealership within a week. Another great thing about this dealership, in comparison with other dealerships, is that they attempt to push a hard sell. They are comfortable with you test driving the car, answering all your questions, but they do not hassle you to make a purchase on the same day. This I found to be great, and really took a lot of the stress out of the buying process. Thank you Peter.

By far the best car buying experience I've ever had. This is the 6th car (3rd VW) I've purchased so I know the typical sales pitch that car salesmen always try to lay on you, but I didn't get any of that here. I found this dealership through Truecar.com and Mike Sclafani was my assigned sales consultant. He did an awesome job of answering all of my questions with the utmost courtesy & expediency, and he was very pleasant to deal with. There was absolutely no haggle, no hassle, I went into the dealership with a guaranteed price & got my price. The sales manager at another VW dealership nearby where I live even challenged me to get the price that I was quoted from Bernardsville, even betting me $500 that they would never honor it. Well, I guess he owes me $500. ;)I would highly recommend this dealership, & particularly recommend Mike Sclafani who really went the extra mile to make the whole buying experience as painless as possible. He got me the GTI with Autobahn package in the color I wanted delivered to the dealership in a matter of days, and was very good with following up every step of the way to make sure I was 100% satisfied with my purchase. If ever I decide to buy another VW in the future I am definitely not even thinking about buying anyplace else. If the service dept is as great to deal with as the sales dept, then they've just earned a longtime customer.

The dealership was very easy to find (we traveled from Sussex County) and the inventory is very well stocked. We had gone to this dealership to look at a used Jetta. When we got there the one in particular had been sold. The very kind, knowledgeable salesman Kevin Mcrea was quick to find us a replacement, which turned out to be a better deal all around. We liked the fact that Kevin wasn't pushy, and gave us our space to talk amongst ourselves. The car was for our 17 yr old son and he was very happy with the way Kevin handled our questions. After taking the car home we found there was a minor issue with the door handle that we all missed, our son called Kevin first thing Monday and he was told to bring it back as soon as he could for repair. Dan was fantastic! I had been to two other dealers before i walked into Bernardsville dealer ship. I saved them for last because i had heard the best things about them via the internet. NOW I KNOW WHY! From the moment i walked in the door, i was treated with the utmost respect and kindness. I was offered and then brought a bottle of water (which had their name sticker on it, which i thought was cute.) I already knew what i wanted and what i wanted to pay and brought the quotes from the previous dealer. I was trading in my Lincoln pickup truck for a Volkswagen eos, looking to lease for 3yrs/36months. I told them what i wanted to pay, what i wanted for the truck, and the deal the other dealers were willing to give me. They met all my requests in a timely manner, and before i knew it i was driving away in my brand new car! (Which by the way, I LOVE!) I would absolutely recommend this dealer to anyone interested in purchasing/leasing a car. Everyone was fantastic there, and its been the greatest experience Ive ever had in a dealership (usually you dread it). Thanks Bernardsville Volkswagon for such a pleasant experience! It was a pleasure going through my lease activity of VW Jetta SEL and Mike is surely one of the friendliest sales persons I have met (I am saying this as I met at least one sales person each from Honda and Toyota dealers before meeting Mike at VW Bernardsville). My experience with Honda and Toyota dealers were not really great experiences - I was just another customer for them. At VW Bernardsville Mike ensured I get all the right attention and information that I needed to make my decision.Simple gestures make a lot of difference. At Honda and Toyota when the salesmen I met asked for my cell number and I said I dont recollect it they just said its okay, we dont need to have your number. But at VW Bernardsville Mike ensured I call him from my cell so that he can see my number displayed on his phone and noted the number and also wrote it on a small card for my reference and use. (BTW, my cell number was new and I still had not memorized it and thats why I had to tell I dont remember my number :-)). This single gesture was enough and I had made my decision right then as I was convinced I am unique for VW. Rest of the events were just formalities.

I am a very busy professional whose time is very valuable. I called four separate dealerships in an attempt to quote me a price on a specific VW model and trim package. I told each of the salespeople I contacted that I was committed to purchasing a vehicle by the end of the day. NONE OF THE SALESPEOPLE WOULD GIVE ME A PRICE. The idiotic lack of commitment to a price for the vehicle lost the sale for each of those sales people. Then I contacted Jared Strowbridge from Bernardsville VW. Despite being more than 50 miles from my home, and passing more than 12 VW dealerships along the way, I knew I would purchase the vehicle from Jared because I found him to be knowledgable, intelligent, and honest. Jared was helpful throughout the purchasing process and I will undoubtedly keep his contact information for all of my future vehicle purchases.

Latest TV advertising for the 2011 Jetta is what brought me into BVW. Exceptional service is what will keep me there. I can not say enough about how Kevin's asssitance helped me make my decision to go with the Jetta. His no pressure sales tactic accompanied by his genuine willingness to take the time to go over the car in detail and test dive made the entire decision making process enjoyable. A pleasantly surprising experience. Aside from Kevin's help I cannot begin to tell you how happy I am with my new car. I was initially concerned about the feel of going from a small SUV to a smaller sedan. Now pleased to report that the roomy interior accompanied by the expansive windows do not leave me with the "closed in feeling" which I had originally feared. The entire car has a "heavy" feel unlike some of the other smaller sedans which I test drove. It really feels like you have something substantial protecting you. Attractive car, smooth ride, great engine pick along with great gas mileage. What more could a girl ask for?

Michael Sclafani was very nice to me explaining everything about the car, the paper work needed to be submitted and if i have any questions, just call him and he'll be gladly to answer it, even gave me his personal number at work so I can call him directly....He called me when the paper work was done and adjusted his schedule so I can pick up the car at the available time I have. He toured me in the dealership to show me what their services were and the lounge and wi-fi connection if ever I have to stay long. Michael called me 3 days after I picked up the car to check if everything is fine and said just give him a call if anything pops out of the ordinary in the dashboard.....He also scheduled me an appointment in 2 weeks to pick up the plate....I was in and out of the dealership in less than 40 minutes..I recommend this dealership to everyone.

Jared was very personable and was not pushy to get me to buy my Golf TDI at Bernardsville VW. He is very knowledgeable about the car and I was impressed with the length of the test drive and explaination of the cars functions as we were driving. After the test drive and talking about the price of the car, my perception of Jared was that he was honest and up front with me on the price of the car and availability. He also made it a point to let me know how Bernardsville VW is different from other VW dealerships and I can personally confirm this as I had visited several other dealers before coming to Bernardville. I would characterize Jared as a down to earth guy and did not come across as a salesman who wanted me to make a commitment before I left, even though I did, because I liked his professionalism and his true concern for my financial situation and what I wanted in the car.

I had been looking at car for several weeks and had visited Nissan, Toyota, Hyundai, and another Volkswagen dealer. The Bernardsville salesman, Kevin McCrea, was far and away the most personable and helpful salesman I encountered in my seach. In addition, there was none of that having "my manager" come out from behind the scenes and try to browbeat me, as happened at several other dealerships I visited. And I believe I got the 'most' car I could get for my money. Another VW dealer offered me the same model I ultimately bought at Bernardsville but with far fewer features and slightly higher mileage. I unhesitatingly recommend this dealer and this salesman. The best car buying experiene I've had over a long lifetime of buying cars.

I am 62 years old and have purchased a lot of cars in the past. For the most part I have found purchasing a car to be a pain and it was rare for me to be a repeat buyer at any dealership (Saturn was an exception). My salesperson (Mike Scalfani) was quite responsive to questions and concerns. Both he and the other people I dealt with were friendly, courteous and responsive. Price negotiations can frequently be a game of who lies best but in the case of this dealership That was not the case. Very friendly and helpful. Mike spent about 2 hours with me on my first visit, and another hour on my second visit. He never once tried pressuring me into a sale, something I can't say about other dealerships. They didn't have the color/trim in stock that I finally decided on, so they found one for me from the other side of the country (it was a 2010 leftover), and gave me a very reasonable price. I test drove about a dozen cars at several different dealerships and decided on Bernardsville VW... and there are 8 VW dealerships closer to my house!The Finance Manager (Mark Maclay) was also very friendly and helpful, as was the guy who helped with the shipping of the car. I also spent some time talking to the service manager Joe...again, very helpful. Everybody did their part to make the process as easy as possible.Overall, an A+ experience! Bernardsville VW is just around the corner from my home. I've lived here for 31 years but have never gone into the showroom, never even considered being a VW owner. My 10 year old BMW 323I wagon was beginning to give me problems, so out of curiosity I checked on Bernardsville VW's website to see what might be available in a certified wagon. I saw a 2007 Passat wagon. It looked great. Went to see it and fell in love with it. Mike was no pressure, very informed on the auto features, and a pleasure to deal with. Kevin took me for a test drive. I was sold on the quality of the car, and it has many more features than my BMW did. I've only had it for a few days, but love it so far. I really enjoyed working with Mike and John. They were professional and responsive to my questions. I initially left the dealership after the first visit because the price I was being given on my treade-in was simplpy too low, compared with what other dealerships had offered. However, John pointed out some minor hail stone damage to that vehicle that I wasn't previously aware of. Although this didn't make me happy, he had the expertise to point that out where otheres did not. I then found out that VW was offering some cash back and John and Mike handled this well byu adjusting my trade-in and the purchase price which really sealed the deal. I purchased my VW here, but when I brought the car in for a regular 40,000 miles service, I walked out with a bill of $1,700. Is that a joke? There was NOTHING wrong with the car when I brought it in. The service staff will "invent" problems with your car in order to steal your money. DO NOT HAVE YOUR CAR SERVICED HERE.

I had gone online to check dealer stock, and invoice price with options before going to the dealership. I chose Bernardsville VW because they had the Tiguan Wolfsburg with the options we (my wife and I) wanted. When we arrived at the dealer we were greeted by Bill Gaffney. He sent someone to get the vehicle from another lot, while we worked on the deal. He offered a great price on our trade (2009 Subaru Tribeca) and a great price on the new Tiguan. We looked at the vehicle, agreed to the deal, and went into town for lunch while they typed up the paperwork. We arrived back at the dealership after having lunch, and the paperwork was ready for us to sign. We signed all paperwork, the Tiguan had been dealer prepped, and was ready to go. Upon arriving home, we noticed that when they prepped the Tiguan, they installed the front license plate bracket, which we did not need because we live in PA and not NJ. I removed the bracket to find that it had been installed with 4 self tapping screws that left nasty looking holes in the front bumper. Our options were to have an ugly bracket with no plate, run some type of vanity plate, or have a front bumper with 4 holes in it. I called Bill to see what he could do, and he was NOT very understanding. At first he tried to tell me that the car had the bracket on it already, which it did not. We saw it before it was prepped. Then he tried to tell me that all vehicles in NJ had to have the bracket, which is sort of true, but we didnt live in NJ. Then he tried to tell me that our Subaru had a bracket for a front plate, which it did not, because it was purchased and prepped in Pa. After shooting him down on all comments, he said I needed to talk to the sales manager. My call went to voicemail, and I have not received a call back, nor am I able to get a hold of Bill Gaffney. When I call and ask for him they give me to another salesman, or send me to voicemail, with no return call. In my opinion, the salesman should have told the guy who was going to prep the car that it was going to be a PA car, and that would indicate the front bracket not be installed. Furthermore, if a mistake was made, just admit it, and correct it, don't try to talk your way out of it. The next step is Volkswagen Customer Complaint Department at (800)822-8987.

I leased a 2008 Touareg in April 2008. I have to say that this is possibly the worst experience I have ever had with a dealership full-stop. Leasing a car from VW is the worst option you can possibly choose. I would never recommend this or this dealership. During the lease of my car I was told by my salesman (Bill)that I would qualify for the tires for life program through Bernardsville of VW, but I am now being told that I don't qualify and in fact, the Touareg never has been included in this program. How would I have ever known about this program or be expecting that I would qualify for over 2 years? Also, they are now telling me that I wouldn't qualify for the program anyway since I missed my 20K service. I was not aware of a 20K service and why would I skip it if I knew it would affect my qualification for the program. Needless to say, they will NEVER see this car again for service. Anyone I know who uses them for service will certainly be told to go elsewhere and to never do business with this organization. This all just seems very shady and a big bait and switch on their part. Why would I pay $90 for an oil change if I didn't think I could offset the cost somewhat by not having to buy tires...simply does not add up.

Ryan was very helpful with getting me into a CC sport. We discussed over the phone as I was already sold onthe car and was looking for the right color combination. He was efficient in getting the application approved and getting everything ready for pick up. Once i got there, he was patient as I looked through the color inventory and actually changed from white gold to mocha. The car was cleaned up and I was on my way. I did end up spending more than I anticipated by purchasing a service package but hopefully it will be invaluable in the end. Nice job, Ryan. It was a pleasure working with you.

My only complaint deals with transparency and price. John Oliver said he would beat a price because I was a return customer, but when I arrived the lease price was actually $5 a month higher. As a matter of principle, live up to your word. $5 will not ruin me, but I appreciate being dealt with honestly--particularly since this is my second vehicle from Bernardsville VW. Instead, I walked away feeling nickel-and-dimed, which tarnished the experience.The only reason why I returned to Bernardsville VW is because they appear more professional than other dealers and are very knowledgable about their products. Mr. Oliver's actions put a cloud over that professionalism. Bill Gaffney, the salesman, is a pleasure to deal with, and the environment at the dealer is generally pleasing.

Bernardsville VW and Jared Strowbridge in particular have always been honest, fair, timely and responsive to my desires. I leased a Jetta previously from Jared at Bernardsville, then my son purchased a GTI, again through Jared Strowbridge. I have sent friend to Jared who were also pleased and leased a Passat through him. When I have needed service in the past the service dept has also been honest, timely, and quick to respond, providing a loaner when needed.

Our family just leased a 2010 Jetta for our 79 year old Mom at Bernardsville VW. Our sales rep, Mike was very professional, upfront and conscientious. What made our sales experience more challenging was that while our Mom visited the dealership, others in the family living away from NJ contacted Mike by phone to better understand the offer, the application process and what we needed to do to ensure our Mom was both getting a good deal and was able to fully understand the process and steps she needed to take to complete the process. The staff at Bernardsville VW were polite, accomodating and did everything they could to help us. While buying a car is not something you do everyday, I'd recommend anyone shopping for a VW in the area to speak with Mike or John. We are very satisfied with our experience.

We bought a 2010 Jetta TDI diesel wagon, driving 2 hours from home because Bernardsville VW (NJ, off Route I-287) had a large allocation and our local dealer had maybe one of this model and 4 buyers. When we ordered the car, they offered a NAV device (integrated into a fancy radio system), and we paid them $2000 for it -- steep, but we reasoned that a built-in NAV would avoid the theft issue (our previous car was broken into, costing us about $1200 in repairs, plus replacing the Garmin and a stolen laptop, plus a lot of time and aggravation). The NAV device is from a company called Rosen -- not as attractive as Garmin or what our Honda has -- but as Bernardsville VW and their signage promised, appears to be made for this make, model and year of car. We also bought a 7 year warranty for the car through VW.First, when we went to register the car in Connecticut, it turned out Bernardsville VW had failed to give us one of the documents we needed. They were apologetic and said they'd overnight it. It arrived a couple days later by regular mail. Okay. Annoying, but mistakes happen. The analog speedometer worked oddly; we thought maybe it was registering kilometers and that a simple programming tweak would fix it. We couldn't find it in the manual, and we thought it could wait for the first servicing.Then the information panel which displays the odometer, digital speedometer, tank range, etc., started intermittently displaying random white lines and no information. We took it to our local VW dealer in Connecticut, whose service manager had never seen that before. At his suggestion, we made an appointment (here) and took it in. It turned out that it was the way the NAV device was installed, or a problem with the radio/NAV device. Since the local dealership hadn't installed the Rosen NAV/radio, it was not his problem. He charged us $50 for their time. So today we took it back to Bernardsville -- a 4 hour roundtrip, plus waiting time of 3 hours. Bernardsville VW's response? Not their problem. Our problem. They didn't have parts on hand to fix the wiring problem, and they reinstalled the original radio. I suppose we're going to make another long round trip once the parts come in.Net net? It's not their problem! We're out $2000 and have a lovely $2000 doorstop. They offered it, they installed it, but they don't stand behind it. Sorry folks! Our advice? If you like the plain vanilla car, as it comes from the factory, Bernardsville VW might be just fine. But don't assume that Bernardsville VW stands behind anything themselves, even if they've sold you a $2000 add-on from THEIR selected vendor. The funny thing is that Bernardsville VW has a deal offering free tires for the life of your car, if they do all the service on your car. (They don't manufacture tires, as far as I know, and neither does VW.) But they won't stand behind the radio/NAV device, sold and installed at a premium price.What do we want? Either a car that works -- little details like speedometer, odometer, etc. -- with the NAV/radio device we paid them $2000 for, or our $2000 plus tax back (and the information panel and speedometer working, of course). Are we being unreasonable? I don't think so.STEER CLEAR! If they issue a check, I'll gladly post the information here. In the meantime, I'd advise you to use the web, and see what other customers have to say. I'm realizing we're not the only unhappy customers, but I didn't think to look before we bought. We were too trusting. How could the largest VW dealership in the NY Metro area not be worthy? Shame on us.

I visited this dealership and put a down-payment on a 2010 Jetta Sportwagen TDI in August 2009. Part of the deal was to submit for the cash for clunkers program. They submitted my claim but never followed up with it. The new car was due to come in during October and the cash for clunker program requires that the dealership provide a status update every week. Well because of the carelessness of the dealership, my eligible claim was rejected and I ended up loosing out on $4,500 for my clunker. I contacted the manager at the dealership, Ed Levinstone, and asked why his dealership failed to handle my claim correctly and he told me that I am a nobody, I am only one of 78 claims and he didn't want to take the time to resubmit with the cash for clunkers program because he didn't want to get audited by the government. Ed Levinstone then had the nerve to ask me to back out of my down-payment because he had other prospective buyers. This car was our wedding present and he even called me up when I was on my honeymoon to make me have to call him back to verbally confirm I wanted the car despite the fact I put a downpayment on it before I left and told him the exact date of my return to finalize the deal. I had to take the time to call him back while I was on my honeymoon to tell him to keep my deposit on the car!The day I came to the dealership to pick up the car I was not on their list and they were not ready for me. I had to wait 30 minutes before being helped. In the final price for the vehicle, they charge a bogus amount of $200 for documentation and handling. I wanted the charge removed before finalizing the sale but they told me either I pay it or go somewhere else. I guess I should be lucky to get the car for just MSRP since other dealerships were offering the car for "only $500 over sticker". Before I left the dealership on the day I picked up my car, I had asked Ed Levinstone the manager if I could get mudflaps for the car (a port option for only a few dollars more). He told me that it was too late, that I should have been smart enough to think about that before and if I wanted to get them, I would have to buy them through his sales department.Overall, this dealership does not care about people. All they want is your money and they will try to scam you anyway possible. This all starts at the top with Ed Levinstone and his greedy careless mentality.THERE ARE OTHER VOLKSWAGEN DEALERSHIPS IN NEW JERSEY. SAVE YOUR MONEY AND GO SOMEWHERE ELSE.

BEWARE of Bernardsville VW Service Department. Drove the car in one morning and could barely drive it out in the afternoon. Took it in for "loss of power" and they diagnosed a bad catalytic converter for $1000. I said I would take the car home and think about it. Upon starting the car, it blew black smoke and had no power whatsoever. It was barely driveable. I immediately drove it to another service station at about 30 mph - as fast as it would go. And to note, the VW Service man said that he "guaranteed" that the cat would fix the problem. Haha, many fixes later my car is running well again. NEVER, EVER trust your car to VW in Bernardsville. Having spoken to the general manager there, about this, he proved to be as ignorant as his mechanics. Sad state of affairs there for sure. STAY AWAY or be prepared to give them lots and lots of your money.

I am the owner of a Passat and I have had several issues with my car and I find that when I take it to this particular dealership I get the issues resolved. I have taken my car to other dealerships much closer to my home but have NOT had the same level of service. I am not one of the most pleasant people to be around when something goes wrong, but I find that Andrea has ALWAYS been pleasant with me. This is a sign of good service person. The customer is always right! AVOID having your car serviced at this dealership. Over-priced parts and labor, scare tactics to get you to rush into repairs, poor customer service (requests to see "failed parts" are not always honored, then they lie about it if reported to VW "Customer Care"). Dealership owner (Tony Altomare) claims that they are "dedicated to customer satisfaction", which I have yet to see. In this economy, it's really foolish for business owners to not (at the very least) meet their loyal customers half-way and resolve complaints in a fair manner.Never again. I'm switching car companies and telling everyone I know to avoid VW and Bernardsville VW.(My experiences: Clutch failed at 20,000 miles: $2,000. Braked failed soon after: $600. Engine light came on: charged me to diagnose the problem & claimed that I needed a $800 repair ASAP...light went off & a mechanic friend told me there was nothing wrong with the car. Prices for an oil change seem to change on a whim. Bad, Bad business. I'm contacting the BBB next.)

I have 153,000 miles on my Jetta 1.8t 2002. Check engine light has been on more than its been off. I already replaced the catalytic converter once at 90,000 miles. Recently had the check engine light blink and brought it to this dealership. They replaced 2 engine coils which went bad. Mind you, this is after the "defective ones" were replaced back at 45,000 miles by same dealership. Today I had to bring it back for same blinking check engine light. This time it was conveniently the 3rd one that went bad. They tried to charge me about the same price for one engine coil repair that they charged for two engine coils two months earlier. I argued the price and he suddenly could charge me a cheaper rate. Then he states the converter needs to be changed again - for $899. Told him forget it. Its been a bitter sweet relationship with this car. Bad engine coils can cause converters to go bad. Unused fuel builds up in the converter and ruins them. Watch out! Won't be buying another VW.
