Wow the Finance team at this location is very very unprofessional. Victor, and Alex the manager, just wow. There are no words for how passive aggressive Victor was towards me. Basically handed me an application and wouldn't tell me what to fill out and walks away. Literally walked away without telling me what I needed to fill out - so I filled it out to find out only need the top filled out on. At the beginning every thing was going great - I was going to get the car, they gave me great deal but when I told them they forgot to look at my trade in Victor got mad. He wouldn't look at my car and gave me a low offer that was very insulting because they didn't tell him about the the trade in and they couldn’t get take back the numbers they had presented me. Apparently they can increase the APR depending on the trade in, and was mad because he was losing money on the deal so then refused to even look at my car. The salesman knew that I was feeling uncomfortable by his passive aggressive attitude but seemed scared to say anything. I felt very unwelcome and as I was leaving the dealership he came outside and I let him know how unprecedented he was to work with. He said he didn’t care because no one‘s going to do anything about it because they were losing money on the deal. The dealership salesmen were awesome and they apologized on behalf of the seller finance team. They got mad because they couldn't pull more money out of me so they tried to do it by low balling me on my trade. They also told me they don't have a boss and it's a family run business. The owner should really take a look at taking action on his finance team. The culture at this dealership is very very bad and I feel sorry for the good employee

I’m so glad I took the time to see at least 6 dealers and finally found great service, honest people and great customer service. Thank you to the team of Luis Carranza, Aldo and Gaston. My purchase was smooth and painless. Trust me, I walked out twice before in two other dealers because of the nonsense surcharges. I wish I could post the pictures with my new car because I’m Listo for Labor Day. No more dealers for a long long time for me but I’ll gladly go back to see this guys for their professionalism, knowledge and transparency. I will definitely send family and friends to Luis and Aldo.

Hope this will help so sales people and learn from Aldo at this location, I have been shopping for a SUV for a few weeks so by now I have met some of the most horrible sales people till I met Aldo. He wasn't aggressive very calm and friendly, answered most of my questions to his knowledge. There were a few things in the SUV I was looking that need it a second look and I'm planing to go back. I appreciated his time and effort to earn my business, I will recommended Aldo to any of my friends and family for sure, I don't appreciated when the sales person trying to push you to get something else or hold you hostages. I was in and out with a reasonable time. Thank you Aldo.

VERY efficient and friendly service advisor. I had a 60k service quoted at $300 plus tax over the phone and was only billed $248 inc. tax. That's unheard of! Especially on a used car. (Which I purchased from Southbay a year ago).

This is the 2nd time I've had to have my car serviced in the past year. 1st time for a leak in the gas pump and this recent time for a crack in my drive shaft. Both times I had the pleasure of being helped by Kathy Kleine-Roxas and both experiences with her have been top notched. Not only was she very knowledgeable but very friendly and always kept me in the loop as to what was going on with my car. Prior to this Touareg I also had a Jetta that was purchased at Southbay Volkswagon so I have been a customer for the past 14 years and have had lots of experiences throughout the years with the service department there. I can honestly say that the new structure with the service department and the new people there, has been a dramatic change and made my personal experience a very positive one with Southbay Volkswagon, especially my experience with Kathy.

People in the Service department were unwilling to hear me out orhelp me, never again will I take my car to them. I took my car that I had purchased with them about a year ago and fist of all they dis not ac, when I told them my panoramic sun roof had exploded on the freeway they automatically assumed it was a rock, which it wasn't, but were unwilling to listen and wanted to involve my insurance. Everyone kept saying different things and it was obvious they didn't care about the customer. So I took the car to another dealership 25 miles away where service was completely different. They were friendly and willing to help me and they are going to fix it. How could it be that they are both Volkswagen dealerships but with different outcomes.

I came to South-Bay Volkswagen as a result of an online used vehicle search, and this dealership was identified as having a vehicle that fit my search parameters. I live 12 miles away, so I called to make sure the car was still available, before I made the drive. I was informed that the car was still in stock, and was invited to come down for a test drive. I was told to meet the sale's person in the main lobby. (I am leaving the names out of this review) When I arrived at the dealership, I walked into the lobby and stood around for a bit, with nobody offering any assistance. This was actually OK, as I was in fear of being hounded. However after a short time, I finally walked to the girl at the front desk and let her know that we were suppose to meet with a certain sale's person, as I was interested in a car. The front counter lady paged for this sale's person twice, but there was no reply, as we stood there being ignored. I finally walked up and told her that I was only requesting him out of respect from when I called about the car, and that any sale's person would be fine. Within a few minutes I was met by the "Online Sales Manager" who walked over and said, "did you need something?" (I was hoping for a "sorry about the mix up," or a "how can I help you" but I got what seemed to be some attitude.) I explained how we saw a specific car online and wanted to look over it. I was escorted to his office, where I waited while he went to get the keys. My wife and I waited for about 15+ minutes while the salesman and other employees where searching for the keys, with the occasional "be patient" remarks (but no apologies) coming our way. After the search was finally over, I learned that the vehicle was actually not ready to be sold, but rather in the dealership's body shop being repaired. The horrible customer service continued from that point on, to the point that my wife and I abruptly walked out of the place. I did note that this dealership has good ratings, which I'm sure were deserved. I'm just putting on record my experience with them. I should also note what a difference between dealerships, if you take the time to shop a bit. Luckily their horrible customer service drove me to a different Volkswagen Dealership in Encinitas, CA, where I found a better deal and had a MUCH better experience.

Customer service was, as always, excellent. Kathy was exceptional and thorough through the process. I brought my Passat in for a steering wheel spring recall and also since the check engine light came on. Despite needing to take longer for the repairs, the service was completed that same day. When picking up the car I asked about a crack in the upholstery and the best way to fix that/where it was recommended to get it fixed. Kathy informed me that it was covered by my warranty (which I was unaware of) and she added the upholstery service to my work order (the same one from earlier in the day) without me needing to stay to deal with the paperwork. She called me and arranged for an appointment as soon as the new seat was in and got me in and out quickly to have the seat reupholstered.

My experience each time I have the occasion to bring my car into the shop has been a positive experience. I find all the staff professional, knowledgeable and warm and friendly. This year I have concerns over the emissions situation with Volkswagen and I have had difficulty with some of my communications with the parent organization. Not so with this dealership. Everyone has been prompt, forthright and compassionate in response to my questions. I imagine the challenge the staff must face in light of the parent company's debacle and I appreciate their professionalism.ps. the drivers who drop off and pick up are great too!Keep up the great work.

Very personalized service. Even when the rep realized he forgot to explain something on my invoice, he both called and emailed me to explain the further work I needed. Also like the waiting room, wifi, and coffee; I'm always very productive when I visit the dealership! Even though they offer a shopping shuttle, I've never felt trapped or like I needed it.

Before coming here I went to TWO separate Volkswagen dealerships in San Diego and both were horrible and did not have good selections to choose from. The first dealer I went to had horrible customer service and the cars were so dirty you couldn't tell the new from the old, I walked around the whole dealership with my family and not ONE person asked if I needed help. The 2nd dealership did not have the color and model I was looking for so there solution was to try talking me into a "gas" vs the TDI model and what made it more irritating was how unclear and the prices of the car were. I highly recommend South Bay Volkswagen and am pleased with my service here.

Hello, Just right before Christmas (12/18/2014) we reached our 50K mile mark on our 2010 VW Jetta 2.5L (5cyl) I go through the manual/service intervals of the vehicle and I see that pretty much the only major thing required is the OIL Change, and we think to ourselves Nice! We will only have to spend about 60-70 bucks I call South Bay VW (National City, CA) to make a service appointment with Eric Axford and Rafael Lopez. I am reminded by Rafael that it is also time to do the Automatic Transmission Service and costs around $300 bucks This news comes to my wife and I like a bucket of iced water on a winter day! Now, we were looking at a total of $370+ (ouch)I told Rafael that I would give him a call back because we needed to run some numbers We called back and asked in a very respectable and understanding way if we could get a discount?It was only a question with nothing to lose, and a bit to gain. Also, possibly due to loyalty to the brand and in particular to that dealership and that service department for over 13 years now. In the way and words used to ask for something are fundamental to its consequence. Be nice, happy, easy to deal with, respectful, and people will most of the time be the same with you.We received GREAT news, we were offered a discount and it couldnt have happened to us at a better time than right before Christmas. In regards to the Service Treatment and Performance, once again we experienced World Class Service!!! My wife arrived at the dealership Friday at 10:15am; Rafael received her, processed the paperwork and took the vehicle in. My wife decided to wait for her vehicle while she worked on their newly remodeled waiting/lounge area, she mentioned it looked very nice and was very comfortable. By 1:15pm she was driving out of the dealership with a big smile on her face, some good money saved, and a happy well maintained VW. Thank you very much Eric, Rafael, all your service department, and South Bay VW in general!Ive been a South VW customer since 2001, have purchased 7 vehicles from you guys and I am extremely happy with the way you treat our family! My daughter's car needed repairs but the repairs exceeded the value of the car. We were looking for something reliable and affordable as she will have 2 car payments. We shopped around other VW places, let them know up front what the top $$ she could afford, etc...Unfortunately, nobody was able to work with us. Saw the special South Bay VW was running so I called. I was fortunate enough to speak with Gustavo. Told him our situation and he gave me pretty accurate information as to how much the drive off would be and pretty close estimate as to the monthly payment. All the other VW places wanted us to come in to "discuss." We were on limited time because she was working 2 jobs and we had a 3 hour window. We drove 25 minutes to South Bay--definitely not convenient from our location BUT WELL WORTH IT!! Gustavo had the car set aside, offered to other colors in case my daughter didn't like that one. He took great care of us, didn't try to up-sell because he knew what her bottom line was for affordability. It was a great experience with him. Very personable and I felt like I was sitting at home talking to family. Then we get to finance and Hugo was great. He also knew our bottom line and of course had to let us know other options if we wanted them. There was one but out of her monthly budget but Hugo worked down the price and was able to get a good price on the extras. All in all this was probably the easiest, less stressful car buying experience. You have a GREAT team there. One thing I observed was the no pressure...When we were at another VW place negotiating, there was a couple next to us and the sales person was almost yelling at them. I didn't have good feeling at all. VERY high pressure. At South Bay, other people were looking and discussing and your salespeople were very respectful and peaceful--if that makes sense. I told Gustavo when I'm ready to get my convertible Beetle, I'm driving all the way to South Bay. Definitely best experience.

I just recently purchased a new Passat. I took it in for the complimentary break in service check.I arrived little past noon and all service bays were busy. They were courteous and greeted me professionally. I was given an estimate time of wait and directed me to the waiting area.The waiting area had comfortable seats and enough reading material. I did notice a big screen TV but was off. They had a table for laptops and outlets to plug in electronics. Though some items were not fully stocked they had coffee and tea. The restrooms they have is for only one person.I had an opportunity to speak with the technician. He was knowledgeable and answered all my questions. I was a very happy with my first visit.I hope that the rest of my visit will continue this way. I noticed there was a lady making phone calls to customers that had brought their car in for service and checked in with them. to me that indicates that they strive for customer satisfaction. Good job South Bay keep up the good work! I look forward I'm taking my car in for service!

I had done a ton of research, comparing different car manufacturers and found that the jetta was the most affordable and eye-pleasing. That's a plus for me since I dislike when sales people follow you until they chase you out. Max saw us as humans and understood on needs. For those of you out there that are looking into buying, leasing, have questions concerns Max is your go to guy! I highly recommend him. He knows his stuff, my husband kept him on his toes, and Max was fantastic in answering everything my husband through him. At last, I just want to say a BIG THANK YOU THANK YOU for everything. P.s. I worked with both Hani and Jesus during my purchase.Hani reached out to me immediately after I made an online inquiry about a vehicle in the Southbay inventory and he was an excellent communicator throughout the process. He made the final paperwork drill as painless and quick as possible and stayed late to help me with some of the technical aspects of the dashboard electronics. He's a class act all the way around.Jesus assisted me during the test drive and negotiation phase of the process. He was a fair and honest negotiator, for which I am deeply grateful. His calm demeanor and helpful attitude were a breath of fresh air. My pre-owned car buying experiences in the past have been nowhere near as pleasant as they were here; that's a direct testament to the professionalism of both Hani and Jesus.Bottom line: If you're in the market for a VW, then look no further than these guys. Wow! From the moment I arrived I was treated so very well! Someone parked my truck for me, (I was trading it in) the sales person Max really took his time to ask me questions as to what I was looking for and what mattered most. I explained that as I am staring my own business as a mobile notary & I needed to trade my truck in for a more gas efficient vehicle. We narrowed it down & test drove two vehicles. He explained so much about each vehicle in a way I could understand. The finance team Fabio and Archie were also very awesome! They came back to the office with a great deal & made it so simple! None of that playing around I gotta ask my manager stuff. I was kinda pressed for time but they made sure I was taken care of quickly and very thoroughly. Valente was quick with the paperwork but made sure to explain it properly and in detail. The warranty is amazing....i cant even list all the perks you get with these guys. I was given another run down of the vehicle on an iPad which was pretty cool too. I really can't believe how painless this car buying purchase has been. They really treat you like family here. I always dreaded going to a car dealership (would have rather opted for having all my wisdom teeth pulled at once!) Not this time! I will recommend them to all my friends & family! I came to South Bay Volkswagen as a new customer and they rolled out the red carpet. The customer service was exemplary. I knew which car that I wished to purchase, and Archie Orozco, the sales manager, gave me a very fair price for a wonderful vehicle. He was not only professional and courteous, but warm and friendly. When Alberto Matamoros, the Brand Specialist, went over all of the features of my new car, he was every bit the professional as Archie, and also warm and friendly. If I could award 10 stars to South Bay, I would.This service was "above & beyond" and I look forward to many years of great service with the Service Department as well. I spoke to the employees in all of the departments, and every department was outstanding. I know I have many years ahead with South Bay VW as a very satisfied customer. The experience that I had with City VW was quite the opposite, which is how I ended up purchasing a car from South Bay. I had been a customer of City VW for over 15 years and had never experienced any negative service in all of the years that I was a customer. However, when it was time to purchase a new car, I experienced an absolute nightmare. The sales manager, Erik Mulhern, was every bit as bad as Archie was great. Having worked for many years in the front lines of customer service myself, I feel that I am in a position to be a good judge of what is needed to provide good customer service. Erik Mulhern does not fit the profile of what those qualities should be. Since he is the sales manager, his poor management skills infect the entire sales department. I am posting a positive review for South Bay, so do not want to go into every little detail of how bad an experience that I had at City VW. If you are looking to purchase a new or used vehicle, then South Bay is your "go to" dealership in the San Diego area. City VW is the dealership to "avoid at all cost". I am not familiar with the other dealerships in the San Diego area, but I can assure you that you will not get better service from them than you will get from South Bay. South Bay sets the bar very high, and you will be happy to become a customer of theirs. Even if South Bay isn't as convenient to where you live or work, it is worth driving the extra mile. I also should mention that I got a better price for my new car at South Bay, then I was able to negotiate at City VW. A car is a major purchase and the experience of buying a new car should be an enjoyable one. South Bay knows how to treat a customer. I have read online that car dealerships are notorious for treating women, young adults, and seniors as second class citizens. This shouldn't be but it does happen. Not so at South Bay. Whatever age or sex that you are, I can assure you that you will be treated with respect and dignity. So buy your new car at South Bay VW and drive away happy. I know all of my future trips for service will be just as exemplary and I am in good hands at South Bay. Thanks to everyone at South Bay for your great service!

I purchased a 2011 VW GTI from Drew Volkswagen in La Mesa, and started coming to South Bay Volkswagen after Drew closed their La Mesa dealership. It's the best decision I ever made--every scheduled service is completed on-time and with the absolute minimum in inconvenience to me. Recently my car was involved in a slight fender-bender and I took it to South Bay VW for body repairs as well. The technician I worked with was Rafael Lopez, in conjunction with Bill McAuliffe, Shop Foreman. Together, they took care of my every need, including dealing with insurance companies directly, arranging for a replacement car, and answering my every question. Both Rafael and Bill were in constant contact with me, making sure I had no reason to worry about my car repairs, and the ultimate results were flawless.Just this past weekend, I returned to South Bay VW to purchase a new set of windshield wipers and ask a few questions about my car. Again, Bill McAuliffe was on duty and not only personally answered my every question (and I have a lot of them), but wanted to make sure I knew how to install my windshield wipers, ordered a replacement part for upcoming warranty work, and made sure I was completely satisfied with my visit to South Bay VW. Bill always goes above and beyond the call of duty, and I'm sure instills that work ethic in everyone he works with in the Service Department! I couldn't be more pleased with the quality of workmanship I receive from South Bay Volkswagen--and I'd highly recommend their services to anyone looking for a new car or needing repairs to their current vehicle.

Wow, what can I say? As soon as we got to the dealership Max greeted with a very warm friendly, non-threatening wave and smile. Never did we feel obligated, bothered, or pushed by his presence. Quite the contrary. He was very knowledgeable about his product. He was very straight forward with us, seemed very sincere, which is a plus for us, and was just over all, easy going. He made this whole car shopping experience such a treat. We could have chose to go anywhere, but because he is so great at what he does, and so personable why would you want to? He puts so much of his time, professionalism, heart, into what he does, you feel he is doing what he can, to give you a good deal. If that's not a good sales person, I don't what is. Thank you Max and your entire TEAM, for everything you have done. Oh, and he looks like Luis Miguel ;)

I must say that I never experienced such FRIENDLY AND HONEST Dealership in my Life.We moved to San Diego in 2011 and needed a new car..A co-worker of mine recommended SouthBay and the deal they had at that time. 245 for a 2012 CC with 2,500 down...Since my Fiance was Canadian she had to go trough her Canadian Credit History..It was not a issue.. Mario Hernandez at that time Salesman was jumping trough hops to make this a deal without screwing anybody over.You know the feeling when you meet someone and he is just " PURE GOOD PERSON " that's how we felt about Mr. Mario...It is not that kind of dealership that wants to sell you a car just to sell it they make you feel at home..We purchased the car we could not be happier about...I myself brought my 2008 Passat few times for service ( once oil -leak ) and even troughs I had my Vermont plates and it was purchased in Vermont everything was always done 100 % the first time...We left San Diego and went back to Montreal,Canada but if I ever decide to buy a car again I will think about flying to SD to purchase it from you guys.Best experience ever and if you guys are reading this you guys should be proud of the staff that you guys have.Best luck to all of you..

I originally bought my 2002 Passat new from South Bay and was relatively satisfied with the sales staff, but not that impressed. It was the first new vehicle I have purchased. The best part about this dealership was the service department, by far the best service department I've dealt with. And being military, I've been to quite a few, moving around so much. I lived in Memphis, and Gossett was okay, visited the one in Newport, RI, and even one near Anaheim somewhere. South Bay was the best. They'd fix everything I brought them immediately, never requiring a shuttle home and then a later pickup. GREAT customer service, and if I ever lived in San Diego again and owned a VW, I'd seek them out as my service provider.

After dealing with a pushy sales person at the Nissan dealership down the street, I had no desire to talk to any salesperson ever again. I looked up some cars on my phone and found that South Bay Volkswagen carry many Jettas. We decided to at least check them out.We were greeted by Hani and what a great first impression. He was so straight-forward and honest. After about half an hour we all were cracking jokes and having fun. He thoroughly went over the car and gave us time to think without invading our space. Hani made us feel we got a great car for a great deal. What a nice guy.Our amazing experience continued in Mireya's finance office. What a pro she is. She made us feel so comfortable. We were laughing our way through the process. After signing all the papers we felt like she was our friend. Thanks Mireya!

THIS WAS THE WORST CAR-BUYING EXPERIENCE I HAVE EVER HAD. I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND THIS DEALERSHIP TO ANYBODY WHO IS INTERESTED IN BUYING A CAR. AFTER DRIVING 3 HOURS TO GET TO THIS DEALERSHIP TO PICK UP WHAT I THOUGHT WAS GOING TO BE A HELL OF A DEAL, I GOT SCREWED. THIS PLACE SOLD ME A CERTIFIED PRE-OWNED VEHICLE THAT HAD, SUPPOSEDLY, PASSED A 74-POINT INSPECTION BEFORE I REACHED THE DEALERSHIP. I PURCHASED THE VW BEETLE DURING THE DAY AND SAT IN THE WAITING ROOM FOR 3 HOURS. WHEN ALL WAS SAID AND DONE I DROVE THE CAR HOME. LITTLE DID I KNOW ALL OF THE TROUBLE WAS JUST WAITING TO SURFACE. THAT NIGHT I TURN THE LIGHTS ON IN THE CAR AND COME TO FIND OUT THE BRAKE LIGHTS DIDN'T WORK. BOTH OF THE REAR BULBS WERE BURNED OUT. WHEN I KICKED THE CAR INTO REVERSE I FOUND OUT THE PASSENGER REVERSE LIGHT WAS OUT AS WELL. THAT IS $200 WORTH OF SERVICE, NOT DONE. THE NEXT DAY I WAS IN THE CAR AND WENT TO PLUG AN AUXILARY CABLE INTO THE AUX PLUG FOR MY IPOD AND THE PLUG ON THE CAR'S END FELL THROUGH AND BROKE. IT WAS LIKE SOMEBODY HAD JUST GLUED A FEMALE END OF AN AUX PLUG INTO THE DASH OF MY CAR FOR LOOKS. SO NOW MY BRAKE LIGHTS ARE BROKEN, MY REVERSE LIGHT ON MY PASSENGER SIDE DOESN'T WORK, AND THERE IS A HOLE IN MY DASH WHERE MY AUX PLUG IS SUPPOSED TO BE. BUT THAT IS NOT ALL. I GO TO OPEN THE HATCHBACK, AND THE LATCH WON'T RELEASE ALL OF THE WAY. SO THE CAR THINKS THE TRUNK IS OPEN, BUT IT WON'T LET ME CLOSE IT. THE CAR NOW WON'T LOCK AND WON'T STOP BEEPING AT ME.AT THIS POINT I MADE AN APPOINTMENT AT A VW DEALER BY MY HOUSE, THINKING THAT SOUTH BAY VOLKSWAGEN WILL TAKE CARE OF THE BILL ONCE I GET AN INVOICE. THE AUX PLUG AND THE TRUNK ARE COVERED UNDER WARRANTY BUT THE LIGHTS ARE NOT. I CALLED THE SALES MANAGER AT SOUTH BAY VW AND NICELY EXPLAINED THAT I NEEDED THE $200 CHARGE FOR THE LIGHTS TAKEN CARE OF. HE BASICALLY ACCUSED ME OF LYING ABOUT THE LIGHTS AND SAID THAT I "NEVER SHOULD HAVE REMOVED THE CAR FROM THE LOT WITH ALL OF THESE PROBLEMS." WHEN SOMEBODY BUYS A "CERTIFIED PRE-OWNED" VEHICLE, DO THEY HAVE TO DO A 74-POINT CHECK ON IT THEMSELVES? THIS SALES MANAGER WAS VERY DEFENSIVE, AND ACCUSED ME OF HAVING A "CRAPPY ATTITUDE." HE TOLD ME THAT HE WOULD NEVER PAY FOR THAT SERVICE TO BE PERFORMED AT RIVERSIDE VW OR ANY OTHER VW LOCATION, BUT IF I DROVE THE 3 HOURS TO SOUTH BAY, HE WOULD HANDLE IT FOR FREE.WHAT KIND OF A DEALERSHIP HAS THESE KINDS OF STANDARDS? THIS HAS BEEN THE WORST EXPERIENCE I HAVE EVER HAD BUYING A CAR. I CAN NOT BELIEVE THAT SOMEBODY WOULD SPEAK TO A CUSTOMER IN SUCH A NON-PROFESSIONAL WAY. IT IS AN $800 ISSUE THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN TAKEN CARE OF BEFORE THE CAR WAS SOLD. GOOD THING THE AUX AND TRUNK ARE COVERED BY THE WARRANTY. IF YOU WANT TO BUY A CAR HERE, DO IT KNOWING THAT THEY ARE JUST TRYING TO SELL YOU CRAPPY CARS THAT THEY NEED TO GET RID OF. THEY HAVE NO REGARD FOR CUSTOMER SERVICE AND PROBABLY DON'T EVEN KNOW WHAT A "CERTIFIED PRE-OWNED" VEHICLE IS.

One of the only dealer in Cali in Summer 07, where you can find 2008 R32's without any mark-ups. They say it's their policy to not mark-up the price, and it shows in every aspect of the salesmanship.I basically phoned them on Sunday evening, picked up the car Monday night. Never seen the car until I picked up, no lies, no hidden fees, The sales manager, Mannuel even told me the full price over the phone so I knew they are not playing any games.Salesperson Jamie knew about the cars well, went through the details of the car which I didnt know. This is very rare since a lot of salesmans out there know nothing about cars but how to slip-in extra stuff for money.A lot of dealers in Socal mark up the price of R32 from 5000 to 10000(!) and they act like it's normal. Since it is summer, I even see marked-up Beetle Convertible in VW Pasadena. (bad place to buy cars)I live in LA and had to drive down there just to find the right price, but I think it was worth it. If anything else come up later from VW which will be hard to find, I will try SOuth Bay VW first.I would say I was treated like a valuable paying customer, and I highly recommend it even though for most of you it's like driving down to Mexico (its right above border on the map)
