Follow-up to the below review - I just bought another vehicle from Stivers Decatur Subaru, this time a Hyundai Sonata, but still a great experience! Sean Adams was very helpful, and since I'd been there before, the process was incredibly quick and easy! I bought my first Subaru! After hearing such amazing things from all of my friends and family who have been driving Subarus for years. I decided to go to Stivers, since it was local, and am so glad I did. I walked in without an appointment, and needed help not only finding a used Outback that fit everything I was looking for, but I also needed a value on a trade-in for a non-Subaru. They set me up with James Smith, and my experience with James was hands down the best car buying experience I've had. The previous experiences have been pretty rough, so much so that my wife won't come along anymore, but after hearing about James, she said she hopes we buy another Subaru from him! James went above and beyond in terms of finding the car, talking through the safety features with me, and was patient and not pushy at all. On top of that, the dealership is incredibly clean and has great amenities. That may not seem like an important aspect since you're buying a car, but if you have to lounge for a little bit, or want some coffee, the little things add up in my opinion. I think it's safe to say we're probably going to get another Subaru, and we'll definitely be going to Stivers again!

The service was excellent. I appreciated being able to make an appointment on line. I was greeted promptly and Adam Cloud kept me updated on the work on my car. I was delighted to be in and out of the dealership so quickly. I look forward to continuing my car to Stivers for service in the future. Service on 5/23 was great. Advisor Rowe Hicks had me car in and out in less than an hour. Service on 5/26 was excellent! Cameron Hurley was great to work with. He explained all the service that needed to be done. The service was done in a reasonable amount of time. I will continue to bring my car to Stivers for service.

5/2021 Finally able to get my car service done after self-quarantining for over a year. Adam Cloud was my service advisor and, as usual, did a great job! Just had my first service visit at Stivers with advisor Adam Cloud. I am very pleased with the service and the new facility is very nice. On 6/22 we had service performed. Cameron was friendly and attentive. The service was great!

I've been getting my cars serviced at Stivers for several years now. The service advisers (including Adam, the one I worked with on my latest visit) always seem smart, experienced and customer-focused. For any routine service, which is 90% of owning a Subaru, they get you in and out quickly. The waiting area is big and comfortable, and it's nice to be able to spread out a little during the pandemic. It all adds up to make the hassle of getting your car serviced just a little less hassle-like.

First New Car Buying experience ever. Had done lots of homework, knew we wanted a Forester, and knew what they should cost. Emailed all the Subaru dealers in the area for pricing on a specific model. Brian Traynor at Stivers is the only rep who emailed back a specific price on a specific car. That's not the car we ultimately purchased - but that straightforwardness is what brought us in the door. Brian and everyone at the dealership worked well together to help us test drive, choose & finance the car we bought. Brian even went to another dealership to trade a car for the car in our first choice color.

I never thought I'd use the service dept of a dealership vs finding my own independent mechanic, but Subarus are unique creatures and I feel like they require Subaru experts. I've been going to Stivers for work on my 1998 Subaru Forester for many years, and they have helped me keep my baby running; she's now at 265,000 miles. They are honest about how urgent (or non urgent) a repair is, and they always offer a discount coupon online for work. This past weekend, I called to find out what grade of Dexron I needed to top off my power steering fluid, and Nick, one of the service reps, told me to come on by and he'd top it for me. Now I can't promise he'll do this for you, but he was nice enough to do it at no charge! He was able to determine what was leaking, and the engine oil was leaking too, but he suggested that I just keep an eye on both and if it's slow enough, to just top them off when needed. He could've convinced me that these were urgent and expensive repairs, but he didn't, and I appreciate that.

During June 2014, I travelled from Athens, GA to Stivers Subaru in Decatur to see the new 2015 Subaru Outback 2.5i Limited. Although it was after their regular hours, Brian Traynor came out to great us and offered to answer any questions we might have about the vehicle. He was very informative, pleasant, and friendly. I told him I really liked the new changes to the vehicle, but that it was my first time seeing it in person and I wanted to take a few months to research and compare different options to make sure my final selection fit all of our needs. Brian Traynor understood and never pressured us! Last month, April 2015, I contacted Brian and told him I had made a decision and was ready to purchase the Outback. He made the entire purchase experience very easy and pleasant! He went above and beyond what most do to make sure we were happy!We think the vehicle is fantastic and we were so happy with the experience that we will be buying a second vehicle from Stivers Subaru in a few months!Thank you for the great customer service!!!

My only experience with this dealership so far has been with the salesman, Brian Traynor. He was very professional during every part of the purchasing process, and answered my questions completely. Brian is extremely knowledgable on the Outback, which is the car I bought. I originally decided to buy an Outback after attending the auto show downtown. My husband and I found the Subaru Outback of our dreams at Stivers Subaru online and drove from Birmingham, AL to have a look at it. When we arrived, the carbide grey 2.5i Limited was waiting for us by the door, freshly cleaned up and ready for a test drive. Our dealer, James Smith was out to greet us in less than a minute and we began our test drive immediately. He was thorough on every detail that a 2015 Subaru Outback offers, making sure to give us the full experience of the vehicle in a keen and timely manner. Due to his rigorous detail, we were quickly sold on the specific vehicle we had just driven, and proceeded to begin paperwork to make the purchase. We have had our 2015 Subaru Outback for almost a week and could not be more thrilled with our purchase. Our service at Stivers Subaru was professional, friendly, and welcoming. We have had experiences at local Subaru dealerships in Birmingham that were completely opposite of our experience at Stivers, just a couple of guys looking for a paycheck. I would drive to Stivers Subaru from Birmingham, AL any day of the week to ensure that I receive the quality of service I expect when making such a large and careful purchase. I purchased my vehicle from this dealership because of price and proximity to my home. The buying experience was average and mediocre at best. I have no real complaints with the sales portion of my experience. It was "just okay" but definitely could have been better. Though, I did catch one of their sales managers laughing when he was alerted to my interest in the car I was purchasing. I guess he thought I couldn't afford it. Very unprofessional and just goes to show that you shouldn't judge a book by its cover. There was also an instance where an older gentleman with white hair walked away from me in the middle of a conversation. I don't know if he is suffering from dementia but I was very taken aback by this gesture.That being said, the reason I'm writing this unfavorable review is because of my experience with their service department after the purchase. When I returned to have major work done to the car, I was treated as though I was an inconvenience. One of the service desk employees, a female, was extremely rude. I didn't catch her name but I imagine anyone who has encountered her will agree she is unpleasant to deal with. She interrupted me numerous times, tried to talk over me, and then did not listen when I finally got a chance to speak. I was forced to repeat myself several times.There are other similar reviews regarding the service department on other sites. I would recommend staying far away from this dealership and especially the service department. I ended up driving 40 miles to Troncalli Subaru in Cumming, GA. They were a dream to do business with.

We ordered a 2015 Outback and the whole process was very easy. Service and friendliness were excellent. Communication simplicity would be my only complaint. My fiance and I were both sending communications and quite often both of us would not be looped in on a response. A very minor inconvenience, especially since responses were typically very prompt.

After a serious accident totalled my 2014 Forrester Stivers found exactly what I needed, and I had a replacement 2015 Subaru within 6 days of the accident. To say that Paul Milner and Stivers gave superior customer service would be a gross understatement. Although my purchase was initated on-line and would have generally given me pause at making such an important purchase using this method, I knew I wanted another Forrester immediately - my first one saved my life and I wanted nothing else. I recently ordered my 2015 wrx limited from Stivers Subaru . There was a seriously limited supply in the area at the time and on a busy day Brian had done his best to locate a vehicle in the the state . Bad news the closest one was in Florida . We did a special order and after it was built and shipped he let me know when it was stateside and in transit.. Everything happened the way it was supposed to and as my fifth new vehicle purchase I've got to say even though I had to wait 12 weeks for it to be built and shipped. They handled what they had control over very well.

My journey to a Subaru Forester lasted a few years, but in the end, I chose James Smith and Stivers Subaru over my hometown dealer. James was professional and responsive. While the sales manager at my hometown dealer (Montgomery Subaru) attempted to convince me to get a CVT transmission Forester rather than the manual transmission I wanted, James gushed "A six-speed Forester is the way to go!" While my hometown dealer told me they couldn't find a manual-transmission Forester within hundreds of miles, Stivers had multiple on its lot for me to choose from. When it finally came down to time to negotiate a fair price, James did so professionally and well. I was completely happy with James Smith and Stivers Subaru and would encourage others shopping or a Subie to consider them.

We traveled from North Florida to Atlanta, Georgia to deal with the folks at Stivers Subaru. It was the best car buying experience we ever had. Brian Traynor answered every question we had, and put together a deal that met all our needs in the most professional manner. He was honest, quick, and responsive. The price for the new vehicle was very competitive, and the negotiation process was as hassle free as it could be. We worked a trade, along with our new vehicle purchase, over the phone with Brian, and Stivers honored every part of the deal when we arrived in Atlanta. Brian and the dealership did everything they said they would - it was refreshing. Their new owner orientation is like no other. Instead of a ten minute review and turn over the keys, they had a dedicated representative, Robert, who spent nearly two hours with us explaining every feature of the new vehicle, long after closing time. I was researching for a few months and actually dealt with both James and Brian T. on two different occasions for two separate vehicles. Each time I requested an online quote I received email communication right away and had the quote within 24 hrs- that is of course the best they can give without personal details (like credit score, trade in value etc). I will say at one point the email communication ceased and I had to reach out by phone, but then it was smooth sailing. I felt welcomed overall and ended up leasing a new forester, at what was a great deal reached after much negotiation. But I felt good driving away understanding the terms and happy with the car.

I researched for months and knew the car I wanted. I sent a price quote throughout the dealer website and got an email quote within a few hours, on a Friday evening. I took the email in on Saturday and was informed that the person who sent the email was on vacation. And the salesperson who I was lucky enough to have met (Dave Ashbaugh) didn't skip a beat. He got me to the car I was interested in, hopped in the back seat to go for a ride with my my wife an 6yr old son, telling me "Drive it like you own it." Once we got in and at the desk, he readily honored the quoted price and made the process very easy. The entire experience was great! My wife, 6 yr old son and I have worked and waited to get this car and we were beyond pleased with the experience on the purchase of this car. It is the first time in my life that I've driven off the lot without on ounce of buyers remorse. We got a great car for a great price and had a great experience doing so. I had been researching Subaru's for over a month and looking for a used Forester with low mileage. We drove up from Peachtree City to test drive on a Thursday evening planning on trading in our Fit. On the way up our daughter called and said they wanted to buy it but that left us with two cars to drive home if we bought one. We loved the Forester and wanted it but had no way to get it home. Brian said he would deliver it and he did! The whole experience of buying, financing, test driving, and delivery was so enjoyable. We have bought over ten cars in our 56 years of marriage and this was by and far the best experience we have ever had, from our first e-mail with Brian to our delivery. Stivers Subaru provided tremendous service and gave use the great car buying experience we had requested from them. Brian Traynor was very responsive and made sure to give me the best deal over the phone. His deal beat all the other subaru dealers in a 50 mile radius. he also made sure to have everything ready so all we needed to do was drive in, pick up the car and leave as new car owners. I had a very positive experience with this dealer. Friendly, knowledgeable salesman - Brian. Good fair price, no pressure or game playing. I would recommend them to anyone looking for a straight forward way to buy a new Subaru at a reasonable price without all the haggling and drama. Brian made the whole automobile purchasing method for us very easy. We corresponded via email about what vehicle we were looking for. When we arrived to the dealership he wasted no time at all in bringing out the vehicle out to test drive. And once a decision was made the process was smooth sailing.

I was in the market for a Toyota Highlander after doing alot of research my husband narrowed our search down to 6 cars. Brian was awsome and after seeing 4 other cars that were pretty much the same we knew right away that we were going to purchase our car from him. He was honest and also did additional research for us. He also gave us a variety of different options based on different down payments. We purchased our car from out of state and called ahead of time discuss it with Brian before making the long drive to the dealership. He responded to our call very quickly, was professional, curteous, extremely friendly, and answered all of our questions honestly. When we got down there the car was in the coniditon he described over the phone and we were very pleased. He was even more frinedly and helpful in person and very accomadating and considerate fo the fact that we had just drove over 2 hours with a small child to look at this car. He is by far the best car sales person, actually the best sales person period, that we have ever worked with and after our last car buying experience at a different dealership it was a pleasure to work with him. When we signed all our papers the finance lady was not particularly friendly but she was not rude either, just kind of luke warm so to speak but Brian's friendliness and genuine approach more than made up for that. Thank you for a great experience and we love our car!

Nice to walk into a dealership and be treated with excellent customer service. Great trade-in, great price honest answers and worked with me on the price. Everything explained in detail plus got me a better interest rate than my current bank for financing. Wish more dealers and sales persons were like Stivers.

Since I went to the dealership on the last of 2013, I had to wait, but the manager was friendly, talked to me and discussed my interests while I waited and on one of the city's coldest nights. My salesperson didn't pressure me but let me ask questions and test drive variety of vehicles before I made a decision to purchase a 2014 Outback. Also, bought additional parts and worked with the parts manager to obtain the items which needed to be ordered. I was called when in and set up an appointment for installation. I arrived on time and I was greeted immediately and the service was done promptly. Love the coffee.

I first contacted James Smith by phone to see if Stivers Decatur Subaru had the New 2014 Forester we were looking for and they did. We talked about the price over the phone before we went to the dealership. James was very transparent throughout the whole business deal as he delivered on the price that we agreed on over the phone making it a simple, honest, and hassle free vehicle purchase experience. James and the rest of the Stivers team exceeded our expectations by eliminating much of the hassle traditionally associated with car sales. They delivered on all of their promises and did exactly what they said they would do. We are also very happy in choosing the 2014 Subaru Forester. Only time will tell but we are confident it will live up to being named the 2014 Motor Trend SUV of the Year.

Steve McHenry and Jacob Strevel were great...so friendly and down to earth! It was a low pressure experience...I got the exact car I wanted in the exact color I wanted and could not be more pleased. Steve let me take all the time I needed (I visited and test-drove the same car a total of 3 times over a period of a couple months). Am taking her on the road over Christmas and can't wait!!!

I was extremely please with the level of service I received from Stivers Decatur Subaru for the following reasons.A) They were very good communicating to me all of the product information I needed to select the right model for me.B) They were not pushy and always had my interests as the priority versus pushing cars they wanted to move which a lot of dealers will do.C) They responded promptly to all of my emails and voice messages which were numerous.D) They were very friendly and customer service oriented during the entire process.E) I found them to be very honest and trust worthy... This is hard to find.I give them two big thumbs up!!!

When I visited Stivers Decatur, I was not sure what car I wanted to purchase, but I had narrowed it down to a Subaru Forester, a Toyota Prius, or another Nissan Frontier, which I was replacing. James Smith met me at the door and took me out to look at the Foresters. I drove a Forester and really liked it so we talked about a price and an estimate on my trade in. He was able to estimate a payment for me based on my self-reported credit history. I still wanted to go test drive a Prius and the Frontier, so I was out of their in under an hour. The Toyota and Nissan experiences were very different. Not estimating anything. Both just wanted to "get me into finance" so the hard sellers could wear me down and suck me into a deal I may have regretted. I left both of those dealerships angry and returned to Stivers the next day and purchased the Forester. the whole experience was painless and pressure-free. These guys do business a lot like the old Saturn dealership they replaced and I really appreciate their customer-centered approach. Plus the 4-wheel drive Forester is hard to beat in the compact SUV class.

Curtis was willing to conform to MY needs: let me drive the car, let me tell you what I want (trade in, sales price, monthly payment, options on vehicle) and do the rest via email. He and Jacob understood that I wanted in and out as quickly as possible when it came to paperwork and accommodated while being friendly, professional and a joy to deal with.

I just purchased a new Forester with the help of Wesley Ford at Stivers Subaru. I took several weeks researching models, dealers, and prices before making a final decision. Wesley was patient, courteous, and respectful throughout this time period. From the first time I met Wesley months ago to the time of my purchase last week it was clear he wanted my business and would do all within his power to earn it. Wesley was not pushy. He followed up with phone calls but gave me the space and time to do the research I needed to make a decision. When I told him I was considering buying with a different dealer Wesley worked with his sales manager to offer me a car with more options at a lower price. I was very satisfied with my purchase due to my own hard work and due to the consistent, low-key and respectful help I received from Wesley Ford.

James and Shane showed a great deal of respect to us as customers - not being pushy, but rather knowledgeable about the vehicle we wanted to buy. They explained us features available, compare them to similar features in other models of Subaru and other brands. They allowed to test drive different cars without unnecessary rush, skillfully highlighting the vehicle's capabilities under different driving conditions. After we returned to office, they patiently explained us different optional features we can get in the car and their cost. They were willing to discuss with us pros and cons of different options in an objective manner. They also explained us different purchasing options and compare the cost of alternative approaches. They provided us with outmost comprehensive information we needed to make a sound decision about purchasing the car. After we left the dealership, both James and Shane followed up with us through e-mail and telephone to answer any additional questions we had. At the end, they were a large part why we decided to use this dealership to purchase our new Subaru Outback.

I have previously purchased over 10 new vehicles, and this was the best experience so far. Not only was James, our salesperson, incredibly knowledgeable about the Forrester that we purchased, but he also offered a fair price right from the start. He was straightforward and friendly. The next step was with Jacob, the finance officer. Again we worked with someone who we felt was honest and direct. At no time did we feel we were being pressured to purchase something we felt we did not need. Nor were there any surprises during the entire purchasing process. We highly recommend Stivers Subaru, particularly James Smith, and we look forward to continuing a positive experience with the dealership through their service department.

We went to this dealership because of their newspaper ad, but I didn't really expect much. This was just a comparison visit, to reflect against other brands we were more seriously considering. When we test drove a Subaru Outback, though, we were amazed at its roominess front, back and storage area, along with its smooth, quiet ride. The price cannot be beaten for the quality of this car. Just went in to get the Glass Coat done over the paint job, and the service department detected a flaw in the driver seat. They are ordering the part and will replace it in the next 3 - 4 days. This is the first time a dealer has been so responsive to me in over 40 years. I am a confirmed dealership hater, and they are pretty much winning me over! Service has been professional and courteous in every department, and these are the reasons why I rated them as I did.

The team at Stivers Subaru treated me with courtesy and respect. I worked with Jen Michaels and Shane Lance, the General Manager. They did not play any of the games of repeatedly leaving to talk to someone in the backroom or trying to slide in extra costs in after a deal is reached. I made an offer, they made a reasonable counter offer, and we had a deal. My price out the door was exactly what they told me it would be. My car buying experience from Stiver's Subura was enjoyable and stress free.

First experience getting my vehicle serviced at Stivers. Jerry was very friendly, helpful and fast! I would recommend getting your vehicle serviced here whether or not you own a Subaru. They kept me informed and answered all my questions and were proactive during this process. I had bought my vehicle from another dealer and was coming up on my 36,000 miles and wanted to make sure their was nothing that need to be done before my bumper to bumper warranty was up.THANKS FOR THE GREAT SERVICE!

Yesterday 8/5/2013 I bought a new Outback from Stivers Subaru. This was the first time I had bought a new car in 13 years. My sales consultant Curtis took time with me answer all my questions and when he was not sure of the answer he did not just make something up he got me someone who was more knowledge to answer my questions. Jacob the business manager went over the proposed invoice line by line. He was easy to work with. I feel I got good service and fair pricing for my trade and purchase. I will recommend them to my friends .
