I've been searching for a quality used car for my granddaughter who is graduating from high school. After visiting several dealerships on Manchester Road I decided to see what West County Volvo had to offer. Upon stopping I was quickly greeted by Jim Carpenter who is a very friendly person but who didn't waste any time determining my parameters for the vehicle I was searching for. Jim quickly narrowed the field down to 3 cars. There was no pressure to buy or make an immediate decision, just factual discussions about each of the possible choices. Coming back later with my wife, Jim took on several test drives and we quickly decided on a Mazda Tribute which was several thousand dollars over what we originally planned to spend but the very low mileage and the condition of the interior and exterior convinced us that this would be a good long term choice. Jim made the paperwork as pleasant as possible and we drove away with an almost new car. A good experience all the way around. P.S. MY son and I had previously bought 3 automobiles from West County Volvo and it was always a great experience.

Early in the afternoon of Sunday February 23 I was unable to start my car, which was in my garage at home in Lebanon, IL. I called Volvo Roadside Service, who within the hour had a service person at my home to jump start my car. Once I got my car running I drove 45 miles to meet a friend in the parking lot of St. Luke's Hospital in Chesterfield, MO, where I planned to leave my car while we attended a dinner event. I turned off my car while waiting there, but decided after a short time to restart the engine, just to be sure all was well and that the battery had indeed recharged. Much to my dismay the engine would not start. I was now a long way from home late on a Sunday afternoon and had no idea what to do. I decided to call Tom Calkins, who had sold me the car 4 years ago and who was always helpful with any issues or questions I had about my car. As I was explaining my plight to Tom, he asked me exactly where my car and I were located. When I told him that I was in the parking lot of St. Luke's Hospital, he said that, as fate would have it, he was inside the hospital visiting a patient, and that I should stay there, and he would find some way to help. About 5 minutes later a hospital security van pulled up in front of my car, and out hopped Tom Calkins and a security guard carrying a battery jump machine. Tom promptly opened the hood of my car, hooked up the cables, and jump started my car. His kindness did not stop there. He knew that I could not shut the car off and get it restarted and that I had to be gone for several hours before returning home, so he told me to hop in my car. He drove to where he parked his car, handed me his keys, and told me I should drive his car. He would take my car directly to the dealership, and we could swap cars the next day, and mine would be fixed and waiting for me then. That is exactly how the saga ended! Tom absolutely saved my day, and I will never forget it. Words cannot adequately express my gratitude to Tom Calkins. His actions were absolutely above and beyond the call of duty. He is definitely my knight in shining armor, and I have been telling the world about him ever since!

Purchasing a new Volvo S80 from Suntrup West County Volvo has been my best car buying experience in more than 40 years of driving. It was great working with Ken Levine. He was friendly, professional, and easy to work with. He accepted our initial price offer without hesitation, and gave us a thorough introduction to the car. I would buy another Volvo from this dealer without hesitation.

I had been looking for a job for several months. I knew that I would need a new car as my old car was 16 years old. Ken kept in touch and let me know when a car I would like came in. When I got a job I went in with my wife. We discussed what we wanted and what we could spend. A new car was out of the budget and the first car we drove was not to her liking. After looking over the used car lot I chose a 2005 S60 to drive. After a short drive and a look at the nice binder in the car I made a offer and was driving out in my new car in less than 2 hours. As I started the car to drive away Ken said that the car sounded as if the battery was weak and to bring it back in to be checked on my next day off. As I had to work late the next day I came back at 8 the next day the service department checked it out put in a new battery at no charge and had me out in only 20 minutes. I will be buying all my cars here from now on. Great cars great people.

Normally I find a root canal easier than buying a new car, but this was the first time we ever had a really good time buying a car. We were out looking at Volvo's on the lot after hours and Ken was closing up and came out to talk to us, he could of just gave us a card and took off but he didn't, he spent time with us going over what we wanted and how we should go about it. We wanted to do the European delivery, and he helped steer us on every step, he even told us to wait a few months and wait to get a 2014, boy are we glad he said that. Everything about this has been great, and needless to say we had a great time driving our new Volvo around Sweden. I tell people everyday about this experience and highly recommend West County and Ken. Told him we will have to get another Volvo to go back to Sweden!!

We originally visited the dealership for a used Mercedes, switched to a new Volvo, then selected a used CPO Volvo. Needless to say Tim was patient and helped us work through the process. We had a a few things to decide and he never pushed nor hurried us. Very pleased overall and recommend Tim and West County to anyone considering a new Volvo, or used vehicle. Matt in their F & I office was also top notch.

I have been a driver of Volvo's for many years but never have I encountered a salesman a courteous as John Fitzpatrick. From the moment I saw the car on the lot while having my 240 serviced till the final handshake, it was a pleasure dealing with John. My husband and I came to look at volvos in January just browsing. Tim Edwards took us on a test drive of the s60 and I ended up falling in love with the car and the way it drove. I wasn't ready to buy yet, but Tim and I kept in touch. He let me know when there were discounts, and finally I worked with Tim until I was ready to purchase the car. He was great to work with. Because I live 1 1/2 hours away, he helped me do everything by i-phone or fax. He also has helped me decide which options I want, and listened to the things that were important to me. He is very low key, but helpful and always answered my questions quickly. He has definitely been my favorite car dealer I've ever worked with!

Jim Carpenter was very friendly and helpful with the purchase of my new volvo. He presented various options for me and made me feel comfortable in taking my time deciding what I wanted. It was an online inquiry for a used Lexus IS250 that connected me with Mr. Jim Carpenter, I live in Dallas, TX he in St. Louis. After submitting my online inquiry I received a call within ten minutes from Jim and he was extremely friendly. We hashed out the details of the make and model of car I was looking for and I explained to Jim my doubts of being able to purchase a new vehicle at all. I at the time had a 2009 Toyota Carolla, that was extremely upside down plus had a negative carfax, and a 17.9 interest rate. I didn't think I would be able to get a new or used car at all but Jim took the time to explain negative equity, the option of leasing, and told me there is no reason for me not to have a new car. He suggested the Volvos60 premium package and advised I go to my closest Volvo Dealership and just give it a test drive. Needless to say I wound up being approved for the LexusIS250 but I loved the Volvo s60 so much, the premium package, the safety ratings everything was excellent. I never in a million years would of thought of purchasing a Volvo I didn't even think I could afford it- but courtesy of Mr. Carpenter and his sage advice I was able to get my new car. He is the epitome of quality customer service, friendly, candid, and no judgement placed like many dealerships do. Thanks Jim!

Good dealership to deal with. We bought several cars from Tom. He's their head salesman as far as I can tell. We went in there looking for a "fair" deal. I won't pay sticker, but I also don't need to be pressured into buying a car. The sales tactics are much better than other dealers. They let you test drive the car and really take your time. I like that. After we agreed on a price, their finance guy tried to up-sell us on additional warranties, sealant... whatever-no thanks I'll pass.Service bay is ok, but very pricey. Overall, if I were to buy a Volvo again, I'd probably go here first.

When I have my vehicle in for it's routine maintenance, the service department is always on time and courteous. They check in with you on the progress and make you feel like a valued customer. Way to go!!

Had to buy a "new used car" on a bit of a budget, really appreciated Craig H and his straight forward, no b.s. attitude, I didn't feel pressured or uncomfortable while working with him. Have had multiple dealers try to push me into buying cars I didn't want and didn't experience that at all here. Much better than my last car buying experience.

Now my Saab sits without an engine due to a blown piston. This was something that should have been diagnosed during my last visit to WC and was missed or ignored. They seem to just be able to do a few things well, and not really able to deal with large difficult problems. Find another shop for service!
