Amazing experience from the moment I walked onto the lot. I was greeted promptly, but not forcefully. By far the best and easiest car buying I have experienced so far and I would recommend them to anyone. Justin B. was wonderful and Robert that helped with financing was extremely helpful also. I was there at closing time and the detail person was already gone for the evening and Justin took the car to clean it up himself, which I thought was a great personal touch. He also took the time to set up my phone to the Bluetooth system even though it was time for him to go home and he had already been with me for a few hours. I love my Passat and I couldn't be happier!

He even took his time and drove from his location in Clarksville to Louisville, Kentucky (Hurstbourne Lane area) to show us cars over there. Very pleased with our experience. We did not purchase our third car this particular time as time was of the essence (our daughter was in an accident and school was starting in a week) but would have purchased a car from Mark if we had had the time to keep searching. this was by far the best car buying experience ever. I was always getting denied, and other car dealerships were very rude as soon as they found out my credit score was less than perfect. But sam swope volkswagon in clarksville indiana worked with me and even stayed past their closing hours just to help me get into the car I wanted. Absolute pleasure to work with. When I had trouble getting to my appointment because of unexpected maintenance to my trade-in, they brought the test drive to me. Similarly, they came to pick me up - in rush hour traffic - to meet for the paperwork and signing. Very friendly sales people, easy to work with on financing and a great deal on the car I purchased. I bought my Kia 3 months ago and was not happy with it I found this 2012 Ford Edge on line through Sam Swope and drove down looked at it at 9am by 2:30 pm that day they had it detailed and the paper work ready to sign. A month after I purchased the MiniCooper, I had a few scratches on the driver's side of the car. I called Justin and he said that he would take care of that for me...and he did!!! Since my car is bright red, I was extremely concerned that the "touch up" paint would not be a perfect match, but it was!! Walked in Saturday morning of last week and told Mark, the sales rep, I needed a 20 minute walk through of what they were offering. He gave me the 15 minute version. I went up to Cincy. Got back in town at 5.30 and headed over to the dealership to test drive their Jetta TDI. Mark had the numbers already ran on the car I had noted earlier. I test drove it and got back after the dealership had closed. Still, the essential employees stayed around and walked me through the process. It was simple, they got me all the discounts and rebates they could, gave me a good trade-in value, and even helped transfer the contents of my old car into the Jetta--in the pouring rain!Mark was awesome to work with during and after. Definitely a recommended dealership that will do right by you.

I have been searching for the vehicle to transition into the Mini-van era of my life. I found a VW Routan at Sam Swope online and decided to take a trip down to Clarksville before heading to the mall. I called ahead to let them know I would like to test drive the van if possible. I was traveling with my 2 year old son and didn't really know how this was going to go. Mr. Burger stated he was looking forward to our visit and that he would see us soon. That is exactly how I felt when we arrived. Michael (the salesmen) met me at the door (it was pouring down rain). He opened the door and there was the van. Pulled nicely inside for myself and my excited 2 yr old to look at. My son, less excited about the van and more into the dune buggy they had on display. Michael was helpful, knowing we are working with a limited amount of time before we have a terrible 2 melt down. He was quick and friendly. He helped with the carseat unloading and we went on our way. After the test drive, the rest of the staff was extremely nice in helping occupy my son while we talked numbers. One man (didn't catch his name) talked to my son about dirt bikes and another employee gave him a toy dirt bike along with a slice of pizza! I was so appreciative of the kindness this staff showed my son and I. The entire process with drive included took about 3 hours. They gave us a fair deal on our trade and... well now the soccer mom chapter of my life begins! :)

After a lot of debating, I decided to buy my first ever brand new vehicle - I had the pleasure of working with the new car manager Sherry Tribbey, who worked my credit application up and had an answer for me the day before I even walked into the dealership. My sales representative, Mark Wolpert, went above and beyond to answer any and all questions I had about the different vehicles (I was choosing between three, so I was a bit questionable about all the different specs). They made this experience very enjoyable and I never once felt pressured into buying or looking at something I did not want. All the staff are extremely courteous and are prompt to take care of anything you would need. I will, without a doubt, be visiting them again when I am in need of my next new vehicle!

This was one of my first experiences in shopping for a car. I felt that the service was superb and the communication was excellent. I never felt pressured to make the purchase. Additionally, I felt that the car was of superior quality and a great value.

I was in the market for a new car, and sam swope realy came though. They showed me several cars before deciding on the one i wanted. They really went out of there way to help me into the car. The only complaint that i have is there are two buildings and unless you know which one you want you may have to walk to the other one. Overall though it was a great experience.

MarK Wolpert was the salesman I worked with on day one. I had just come from a subaru dealer in louisville with bad customer service. I was not taken seriously. So Mark was super friendly and helpful right from the get go. He is super knowledgeable and I only stumped him with my most technical of questions. But he knew where to find answers. He even dealt with my lack of competence with a manual transmission. if buying based on customer service, this is the place Sherry was the manager that helped with my new car buying adventure. My wife I purchased a new 2015 Golf TDi through Sam Swope Volkswagen of Clarksville Indiana. Our sales person, Michael Payton, greeted us at the door and was excited to get us out and test drive the new TDi's. He was friendly and the buying process was quick and easy. Michael took us on a thorough test drive and explained all the features as we drove. The Sam Swope staff made us feel welcomed and gave us an honest offer right up front, we didn't have to haggle and deal to get a reasonable price. My wife and I previously owned a 2006 GTI, and even though the TDi has less horsepower it drives 10x better. The manual transmission was smooth and responsive, the visibility from the drivers seat was excellent even for a vertically challenged driver, and the suspension made for a smooth and comfortable ride.

Anthony, Sherry and Mike were extremely helpful. It was the most pleasant car buying experience I ever had. They answered every question and unlike many salespeople, they are knowledgeable about the product. They are honestly true car people and did not disparage products they do not sell which is very professional in my book. But most importantly, they gave me a deal I couldn't refuse. I would not hesitate to do business with them again. In fact, I recommended them to a friend that was drooling over my GTI.

I recently purchased a 2015 VW GTI from Sam Swope (Clarksville IN). I had been familiar with the service department because this was where i regularly took my 2000 Jetta. Prior to visiting the dealership I had looked at a variety of cars on-line, watched YouTube reviews, and read reviews in several car magazines which all led me to choose the Mark 7 GTI. Early in the summer I noticed a new GTI on the Sam Swope lot and paid an impromptu visit. Steven Mayfield greeted me and then we went for a drive. Steven was friendly as well as enthusiastic and knowledgeable about the car. He also guided me on a route that accentuated the delights of driving this car. I decided to wait for the 2-door version which became available in September. Then i went back to the dealership to talk price and to place my order. We quickly and easily came to a mutually agreeable price and the paperwork was completed on the spot. Then came the only serious downside of the entire process--waiting for my car to arrive, which took weeks since VW was just gearing up production of 2-door GTIs. Once the car arrived, i had another pleasant visit to the dealership to process the paperwork and go through a quick orientation session on the car's controls before the car was handed over to me. I cannot say enough good things about what a pleasant experience working with Steven, Sherrry T and the rest of the Sam Swope VW staff was. My experience was worlds different from the stereotypically negative experience one frequently hears about and i can only recommend Steven and theis dealership to anyone. and the car is, i believe, truly a great car.

I recently bought a car here and wrote a review that chronicled my car buying process. I was contacted by the general manager of this dealer and all my concerns were addressed. Mr. Brooks took it on himself to right any wrongs that occurred. Anyone who supervises others know that you cannot control or be there personally for every deal that is made. What you can do is control how you react to problems when they are brought to your attention. While I wish the buying process went more smoothly, I have no problem recommending this dealer because if something does happen, Mr. Brook and his team will take care of you. I requested that my prior review be taken off the site last month but It still appears to be live.

This dealer uses very dubious business practices. I requested a confirmation of a rate before I drove 70 miles to this dealer to purchase a certified pre owned VW. I was given a confirmation only to discover that the salesman had lied to me . I was told my rate would be a full 2 points higher than what I was promised. Salesman also lied to me about getting a standard accessory replaced in the car which was missing. A certified car should have all standard parts to be considered Certified. I was told the part was being located and only after the papers were signed was I informed I was not getting the part on my car. This Certified Pre Owned Volkswagen was also sold with defective tires that were severely cupped and in need of replacement. The car had to be serviced immediately. Ive purchased many new and used cars from new and used dealers alike, never have I been sold a car with an empty tank until Sam Swope Volkswagen of Clarksville did so. Basic customer service does not exist at this dealer. I blame myself for putting basic trust in this dealership. Not again. If you buy here, treat them like you would a con artist and demand confirmation and/or proof of all agreed upon facts.

People work hard to save enough to afford a new car and they don't want the experience to be negative. I enjoy having my family drive me around in such a nice car. The title says it all--Clapp VW is the only dealer in the area that I will go to. I have tried the other two over the years and had trouble with both, causing me to go back to Clapp every time. Keith, the service writer (manager?) runs a tight shop and keeps a watchful eye over the work that his technicians do, which I appreciate as a customer. One visit, when I had a difficult-to-determine suspension creak with my GTI, he worked first-hand with the technician to take the car on repeated test drives to figure out the root cause to where the issue was originating, and fully fix the problem.

My car is great too but I decided to write a review in particular due to Sherry. It took me over two years between my first test drive to buying a new Jetta. When I first met Sherry she gave me the keys and said "Have fun". When I returned she said to call her when I was ready to buy it and I didn't hear from her again. When I did call her two years later she was fantastic about bringing the whole deal together and getting me in my new car. Great service and great person. I hope the service department will be just as good but no experience there yet.

Usually when you think of car shopping, you probably think pushy sales men just looking to get you in and out. That was not the experience I had here. Dealing with Clapp was a delight. We visited them twice before settling down to negotiate. Throughout the entire process, our sales rep--as well as the entire staff--was patient and friendly. We were especially impressed that their main goal seemed to be to get us into the car that suited our needs, rather than something they happened to have on the lot. The purchasing process was a real joy. Their initial bargaining position was fair, so there really was not all that negotiation required. Again, our sales rep was patient and detail oriented. And once we struck a deal, the rest of the staff was friendly and efficient... even to the point of finding us an exceptional loan rate. Dealers of this sort seem to be a dying breed, being replaced by more high pressure and large volume places. To many of us, however, a personal, quality sales and professional staff are still highly valued. Clapp still does things the way they should be done. As the saying goes, you buy a dealership, not just a car.

However, the "shuttle" driver scared the heck out of me, blared his country music and talked incessantly about himself and his views.
