Charlie the Service Manager is fantastic. Top notch service, knowledgeable, and more than willing to over and beyond to help us out. Highly recommend. This place has absolutely amazing customer service! I recently bought a used Audi from them, and not long after I was driving it, there was a weird noise coming from the front of the car. When I took it in, it turns out it was a major mechanical issue. Unfortunately, I was going to be out of town when I needed for it to be fixed, and I was also on a time crunch because I had to leave for college soon. The dealership couldn't fix this issue and said it had to be taken to a different auto shop. Since it was also an issue that wasn't noticed when the car was initially inspected by the dealership, not only did they offer to fix it for free, but they also offered to have one of their employees take it down to the shop for me. By the time I was home from my trip, my car was completely fixed. I wanted to mention how helpful Dennis was (the salesman who sold me my car, which I love!), as well as Charlie, who is in charge of customer service. The Volkswagen of Oakland has extremely helpful staff and incredible customer service! I highly recommend buying a car from their dealership!

I'm in the process of exchanging my Jetta Sportwagen TDI for a new VW. I love my Jetta and wish I could keep it, but the buyback option makes the most sense. Athena has been just spectacularly supportive and responsive throughout this process, and Josh has done everything he can to bend over backwards and make my exploration and decision about a new Alltrack positive. I have always gotten great service at Oakland VW during the six years I owned the Jetta, and I expect the highest quality going forward. So far, I am getting exactly what I expect.

I drove from Modesto out to Oakland to look at a beetle convertible. The car was just as described online, went for a long test drive, was never rushed, or pressured, and the buying process was simple and painless. I drove out there by myself, and was not trading my other vehicle in, so they brought it back to me the next day, and were happy to do so.

They gave me a shuttle to work and a Lyft back. My advisor was great. I was even greeted by the manager. Think his name was Mike. Ill be back despite other peoples opinions. I have the cursed Jetta TDI. The check engine light came on and the dealership is charging me $651 for the repair when online the high end cost of replacement of the Rear oxygen sensor is max $250. What a bunch of crooks! Webster the manager's explanation was that it takes his mechanic at least an hour to find the problem ($175/hour). Really Webster????!!!!?! Just because I'm a woman wearing a dress and heals doesn't mean I'm mechanically Illiterate. These days to find a electrical issue with a NEW car you hook it up to a computer which spits out a error code telling you exactly where to find the problem. It takes less then 5 minutes. And I did verify this with 3 other VW shops (dealer and non-dealers) just to make sure I had it right. Now the Rear O2 sensor is a plug so literately you have to dig a bit (no more the 30 min max) to get to the plug, pull it out and replace it. That's it. I actually watched the guy at the shop where I took my car in for a repair do it so don't try and tell me YOUR mechanics that are VW TRAINED will take over an hour to replace it. So the max you should be charging for the work is $145 + the $250 for the part. That's a total of $400. I've been coming to the shop for almost 10 years now. I explained that this month I've been hit by hospital expenses and it's my daughter's 16th Birthday. You'd think they'd at least be honest with their charges. NOPE! They don't care. As long as the money goes in their pocket what does it matter if they are overcharging.The whole service office staff has changed since my previous review. It's now run by the crooked Webster and his hooligans. I would highly discourage anyone from using them. I found a great shop in Berkeley that does VW repair. You can message me for the name if you want. HONEST, solid people. Got the whole job done for $330 + tax. Still out the $175 to VW for the supposed hour it took for the mechanic to hook the car up to the computer and read the error on the screen. Sounds to me the money went to pay for reading lessons for him so he code read the instructions the computer was giving him because he sure wasn't digging under my hood.

I had a full service done on my car, and I was very pleased with the treatment I received. I had the pleasure of being assisted by Webster Medley, who was very accommodating and a joy to work with at 7am. I was kind of in a rush when dropping off my car and he offered me the luxury of a rental car, which really helped my day to run smoothly. Much to my surprise I received a call from Webster later in the day informing me that my car was finished. I was not expecting same-day service, and I was extremely happy. When I arrived at the dealership, the process for getting my car and settling my balance was seamless. Webster and his team did an awesome job of making my servicing experience a very positive one.

during this visit everyone was the best! i arrived late and they did everything possible to diagnose my stuck window and notice that my read brakes were in need of replacement. Everything was finished on time because I needed my car for an appointment. I would give them an "11" if I could. Might I add there was no drama involved in this whole transaction. I was very pleased with my time at Volkswagen, and with everyone on staff. I was there for repairs so I walked into the showroom to ask about their upgrade program--and I walked out with a car! I feel like they gave me a great deal.First I met Athena at the front desk. She was so kind and remembered me from a brief phone conversation about a year ago (Wow!). Later in the day, when my repairs were taking longer than I had planned for, I asked her if there might be some hard candy or cookies around--just something to raise my blood sugar. Without a second of hesitation she actually offered me her own lunch. When I said, "Goodness no! I'll just take one of those lollipops over there!" the VW people bought me lunch.I spent most of my time with Julian Cruz who I thought was really fair and a good listener, and it felt like he was working hard to get my numbers to work out. He listened to all my specifications and was so great about letting me camp out at his desk with my infant daughter. I even breastfed in the showroom which I know can be awkward for some, but Julian didn't flinch. He said, "It's natural, just feel free and be comfortable." What I loved most about him was that he kept going back into the office to crunch numbers for me over and over again. I was really grateful for all of his time and care.The guy in the back who was helping run all the numbers and find what I needed was Sully Samimi. He was so friendly and genuine, and he sat and played with my 8 month old so that I could eat and rest while some detail work was being done. He was great!I also had a great chat with another woman at a desk there (Can't remember her name!), and I thought that Alex who helped finish off my detail work (And gave me extra strawberry scent when I asked for it!) was a fun and genuine person as well.In general I was just impressed with the team and with their helpfulness and kindness. I am sensitive to smarminess and people trying to manipulate or upsell me, and I just never got that vibe once from the crew. My husband came in later in the day, and he said the same thing--they were nice and above board. Obviously they want to make the sale and make a profit, but they were really good to my family and now I have my baby in a much nicer and much safer car--with a payment plan that works for my family.I'll update later with how the warranty and maintenance is handled, but I'm expecting more of the same.Thanks, VW of Oakland!

The sales people are friendly and try to accommodate my wishes best they can. For example, I asked to look at the used car lot and was not pressured or steered into looking at anything but what I wanted.

I always feel safe and taken care of at VW Oakland. You offer top-notch customer service and everyone is very professional, courteous and friendly. I am always grateful for the time spent in explaining what is going to be done and the call during service/inspection to alert me if there is something urgent as well as where I am in cost for service because I am on a budget. I never feel like I am being taken advantage of. The pick-up and drop-off service is greatly appreciated as I work in SF and time is tight!

Every single part of the experience was lovely and I feel like the staff takes customer services seriously. Brian was my contact and he was so professional, friendly, knowledgeable. There was a woman also who checked me in who was equally lovely....I just felt like everyone was in synergy and it was really noticeable.

Yearly maintenance service was done much quicker than I expected. Estimate was 3 hours and it was completed in about an hour.

I like that Oakland VW was able to diagnose and complete the service in one day. I don't like the fact that I cannot come on a Saturday for the same service, as they are not open on weekends.

Having Uber being able to take me back home and pick me up when my car was done was extremely convenient. It allowed me to get other stuff done while I waited for my car to be fixed.

First of all, everyone was very helpful and supportive. The first person we saw was a gentleman named Julian who who helped us find Sam. Julian was welcoming and very personable. Sam was ready for us and well prepared. There were no tactics, which could make a customer feel uncomfortable. Sultan was very kind, helpful and straight forward. Omar delivered the vehicle and he also was nice, professional and supportive. Second, all of your employees made it a point to give us their business cards in case we needed more help. That is also a classy move. Thirdly, the deal was very, very competitive.

Tony Rohayem and his team displayed the highest levels of professionalism and integrity during our interactions. The staff were all very knowledgeable. During the purchase experience, I did not feel pressured, and my questions were addressed to my satisfaction. The sales team successfully delivered on a great deal. I had several e-mails with Chris Murphy, whom was incredibly helpful. My salesman, Omar Shair, was helpful, patient, eager to answer questions and has a general enthusiasm for the Volkswagen brand, which I appreciate as someone who just bought their third new VW. Dan, the gentleman who handled my financing and warranty coverage, was also very helpful and patient. Everyone involved was friendly and polite. I like to make the car buying process as easy as possible for everyone and I feel that the staff at VW of Oakland feels the same way and that is evidenced by my experience with them. I was treated truly like a VIP. I was greeted kindly when I arrived and Frank made the checking in process painless. My car was returned to me clean and running smoothly. They provide refreshments should you choose to wait or will drop you off via their shuttle or uber-- for free! Only improvement would be if they had bacon donuts for customers. :)

I appreciated the courtesy, care and ease of the service representative who handled my car, David Jacobs. He took charge immediately and communicated what would be done. He went out of his way when it was realized a baby car seat had to be removed from the car for use in another car. i appreciate the friendliness and helpfulness of all the employees at Oakland VW.

Tim Tsai at volkswagen of Oakland was amazing, he answered every single question we had in regarding the cars we were interested in, he even helped me get car insurance while waiting for the car to get clean, he was patience with us and wasnt rushing or just trying to close the deal.

Chris Murphy customer service was phenomena, I was never thought I am able to buy a car again with what we went thru, but he managed to help us without his help we weren't able to buy a car to get around. Many thanks to Volkswagen of Oakland and Chris Murphy!!

Horrible place to buy a car. They are a shady operation. I've bought many cars in my life, and I know dishonest business practices when I see it. The salesman was nice, but their management and deceptive sales practices are the reason you will want to steer clear of this bad business. Trust me on this one. There are too many other good dealerships out there to buy your car. Save yourself some time, grief, and money by doing business elsewhere. If you don't believe me, please go spend a a few hours trying to buy a car from them. You will quickly realize what I'm saying is true. Like I said, I liked our salesman, but he was a young kid who doesn't realize he is working for a crooked company. Hopefully he will get out of there before he becomes tainted. Anyway, I wanted to share this with you so you don't end up getting, well, you know.

I was in the market for a compact suv. I wasn't attracted to any particular brand & just about all of it was going to boil down to my lease payment. I looked at the Rav4, CRV, Rogue & Tiguan. All of them had advertised lease specials at fairly attractive price points but the Tiguan was the most attractive. I called 3 Volkswagen stores to see if they would offer me any better a deal than what was advertised. All 3 said yes. I wont go to deep into why I didn't pick the other 2 but will tell you why I landed at this dealership. The person I spoke to - Sheena was very sweet, patient & most importantly genuine. That last quality was enough for me to visit the store. From start to finish the entire transaction went smoothly. Yes the finance guy did try to sell me stuff & I did purchase a 3yr service plan. The main reason I am writing this review is 4 days after my lease the tire pressure light popped up. I took the vehicle to the store to get checked where the service department for a nail in the sidewall. I knew that was never going to get covered under warranty but my momma always taught me to ask & I did. 15 mins later out walked the General Manager who was very nice & explained to me that the warranty would not cover it but he would not charge me labor, installation, tax & simply sell me the tire for $1 over his cost which he showed me what it was. Eighty dollars & I said ok. He was very gracious & filled up my tank with gas & that made it less painful.

I have a 2002 GTI, have been to this dealer for repair, and whatever they repair keeps failing, and so I keep going back since they charged me over 1.5K, they need to find and fix it, they keep experimenting on my car just adding $ instead of finding the fault, at the end, after they changed any part you can think of from A-Y, they said , no it's the 'Z' part, and so my bill at the end came well over 3K. I had to negotiate the price, since I felt like they took advantage of me, and they were able to discount $700. This guys even took some VW accessory parts from me or they neglected to put it back, just stay away, horrible horrible customer service too.

Purchased a used 2010 VW Passat. I found the dealership to be friendly and accommodating. Of course it's the usual haggle over the bottom line, but in the end they met me half way and we made a deal.

Bought a car. Returned 8 times. Car still gives me problems. Electrical sytem is shot. I believe its water damage. Unresponsive staff. I plan further action until this dealership closes and/or I get a full refund plus lost time. Carfax was given with a 2 year gap on it.

Rip off report!We got a lease here last year - this was our first lease, and we trusted Fernando, a friendly sales rep that we worked with. He promised us that we could improve my partner's (admittedly bad) credit by putting both of us on the lease, then after a year we could refinance the lease and lower our lease payments.Outright LIES. A year has passed and for some reason, friendly Fernando doesn't remember telling us that we could refinance a loan because it is IMPOSSIBLE to refinance a loan without purchasing the lease!Total scam- I do NOT recommend this dealership, and particularly suggest steering clear of Fernando!

I recently purchased a pre-owned jetta from broadway volkswagen and I was very impressed with the whole experience. The sales staff was great, from the general manager all the way down to my salesman Dan, the only thing I can mention that isnt completly positive would be I had to wait about 20 minutes to sign the paper work but Dan explained to me that the finance person was very thorough with explaining everything and I would be offered the same service as the customer he was already dealing with which made me feel better. I would reccomend Broadway VW because of their selection alone and the great staff is a bonus.

POOR<POOR<POOR!!! When I relized the conversation I was listing to steps away from me were about another employee I was turned off...the language, and slander should stay behind closed door! When I asked who the un-gentleman was, I was told it was Dave, the General Manager. I couldnt stop thinking about it, infact I though about it all the way to Dirito Brothers were I made my purchase. Shame I had to drive from Oakland and pass A VW dealer to buy a car in another city.

I was a first-time car buyer this year (single, 34-year-old female). In April of 2006, I bought a 2002 turbo VW Beetle from Oakland's Broadway Volkswagen for $19,000 after failed good-natured attempts to negotiate down the price. Yes, I was a naive, foolish buyer who trusted the car salesman and bought a car without doing independent research. I found out a month later, after doing the research through Kelly Blue Book and calling other dealerships, that I probably paid about $4,000 too much for this car (Blue Book noted the starting negotiating price of this car to be $14,000 between a dealership and a customer; other dealerships admitted to me that they would have sold the car for about $15,000-$16,000). I called the salesman who sold me the car--Art Gonzales--and the general manager of the dealership--Brady Gibson--to inquire about their sale price of the car and for an explanation of the discrepancy I'd come across. Mr. Gonzales never returned my call, and it took multiple calls, emails, and handwritten letters to get Mr. Gibson to send me a confusing Kelly Blue Book printout with handwritten numbers added onto it to explain their selling price (this printout did not reflect the actual car I purchased, and his notes simply stated that an extra three to four thousand was tacked on for auto transmission--my car is a manual). I called Mr. Gibson and asked if we could meet briefly in person to discuss this. He refused to speak with me, despite multiple calls to him, a call to the dealership president--Mike Murphy, multiple calls to VW Customer Service, and an in-person visit I made to the dealership itself. VW Customer Service told me that they had notified both Mr. Gibson and Mr. Murphy on several occasions and asked them to contact me about my original question. Their calls were unreturned, and I still have never heard from the dealership.Furthermore, when I bought the Beetle, I had sold my old Tercel to Mr. Gonzales for $100 cash--it needed work, and he said he wanted to buy it for his niece. I gave all the paperwork to Mr. Gonzales, who said he'd register the car in his his name. He never did--I got a parking ticket weeks later (which Mr. Gonzales did take care of) and a renewal notice months later, which I called Mr. Gonzales about. He promised to take care of it and contact me when it was finalized. I never heard from him again. When I went to the dealership to ask Mr. Gonzales in person about this (he was on vacation), another salesperson scoffed and said that the car had been "curbed" (meaning: sold a mechanic for parts). I finally went to the DMV myself to notify them that I was no longer the owner.Yes, I should have known better. However, there is no justification for taking advantage of fools. I am appalled that this dealership openly condones and practices deceit and dismissal of their customers. I would not be nearly so upset if they had had the decency to communicate with me with respect, regardless of their answer to my original question. To date, they have given me no indication that I wasn't ripped off. The only information I have been able to obtain says that I paid at least $4,000 too much for this car. So that is what I am left with.I am purchasing a license plate frame that states "I got screwed at Broadway Volkswagen." What an expensive and disappointing lesson.
