Introduced in 1982, the 944 marked a significant departure for Porsche. Designed as a successor to the 924, the 944 featured a new 2.5-liter inline-four cylinder, front mounted engine, and paired with its near 50/50 balance split, the car was truly remarkable. As Porsche continued to refine the model, the 944 evolved through several iterations, culminating in the introduction of the 944 Turbo in 1985.[!@@ NL @@!][!@@ NL @@!]The 944 Turbo, was the performance flagship of the 944 lineup. Retaining the original 2.5L inline-four power-plant, this new evolution now featured a single turbocharger, delivering a substantial increase in powerreaching 217 horsepower, a whopping 80 HP bump over its N/A predecessor.
