Originally, the United States was not slated to get an M3. After owners famously banded together and demanded one be made, BMW brought the M3 to the U.S. market with a de-tuned and simpler engine than the European M3 due to emissions restrictions. Power comes from an 'S52' 3.2-liter inline-6, rated at 240 horsepower and 236 lb-ft of torque.
