Plenty of muscle was delivered by a 350 HP GM LS1 V-8 and a choice of automatic or manual transmissions, with big news for 2005 being the hot new 400 HP LS2 V-8. With its quality engineering, full load of amenities, and obvious sub-14 second dragstrip performance, the GTO was a winner, but corporate bean counters sadly killed the GTO in 2006. Production numbers were never high, with 15,740 for 2004, a dip to 11,069 for 2005, and an uptick to 13,948 in 2006. Featuring the 400-horsepower GM LS2 V-8 engine and driver-preferred 6-speed manual transmission, this final-year Pontiac GTO from 2006 is an outstanding, exceptionally original vehicle.
