The 2016 Honda Pilot delivers a new 3.5-liter, direct-injected V-6 engine with cylinder deactivation technology. The engine's peak output of 280 horsepower and 262 lb.-ft. of torque are up 30 hp and 9 lb.-ft. over the previous model. It is matched to a choice of two new advanced transmissions -- a Pilot-first 6-speed automatic transmission or, on upper trims, a Honda-first 9-speed automatic transmission. The new Pilot is also expected to deliver the highest safety ratings in its class, targeting a Five-Star Overall Vehicle Score from the National Highway and Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and a TOP SAFETY PICK+ rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), including a GOOD rating in all crash modes. Also on the safety front, the 2016 Pilot offers a blind spot information system, collision mitigation braking, lane departure warning, forward collision warning, lane keeping assist, adaptive cruise control, road departure mitigation, and rear cross traffic monitoring.
