About 2020 Kia Optima The 2020 Optima enters its current generation's fifth model year with several new standard technology features and enhancements, such as smartphone wireless charging1 (standard on EX and SX trims), and Forward Collision-Avoidance-Assist, enhanced to include Pedestrian Detection (on Optima LX and S trims). The EX Premium is now a separate trim rather than an option package. Powerplants include the 2.4-liter GDI four-cylinder that produces 185 horsepower and 178 lb.-ft. of torque. The 2.0-liter turbo generates approximately 247 horsepower and 260 lb.-ft. of torque. Both engines are mated to a six-speed automatic transmission with Sportmatic shifting. The Kia Optima has a 1.6-liter four-cylinder turbo engine. Pushing out 178 horsepower and a stout 195 lb.-ft. of torque, the engine mates to a seven-speed DCT. The transmission optimizes the engine's responsiveness for a sporty feel.
