In a 2006 Chevy Silverado, you can find the alternator fuse inside the fuse box on the passenger side of the engine. The fuse box has a black cover with a diagram identifying each fuse underneath. Take out the fuse from its holder. Sometimes, you might have to use a small screwdriver to unscrew the fuse holder cap. Check the fuse wire for any gaps or dark/metallic smudges inside the glass; if you see any, the fuse is blown and should be swapped out. You can easily find replacement fuses at nearby auto parts stores like Advance Auto Parts or Auto Zone.
