Even though Ford hasn't issued a formal recall, numerous Fusion users have reported problems with the auto start/stop feature. The system could fail for various reasons, including fluctuations in climate. If the temperature changes frequently, the start/stop function might not work as it requires a consistently regulated temperature. Additionally, if the engine is too cold or if it's generally chilly outside, the system may not engage. In some cases, the car might need time to cool down from being in Turbo mode. If none of these factors are causes, a thorough diagnosis will be necessary to pinpoint the exact reason for the malfunction of the auto start/stop feature.
