The Volkswagen Passat's remote start feature might not function properly because of issues like a weak battery in the unit, a malfunctioning key fob, or a faulty remote ignition sensor. The main reason for this problem is often a low battery. To replace the battery in your key fob, press the metal button to open it up. Look for the battery compartment below the Volkswagen logo. Once the key is open, slide the battery compartment upward and take it out. You can find replacement key fob batteries at most car parts stores, and some may even test your current one for you.
