Hyundai recalled the power steering column for the 2010 Hyundai Elantra models, but there's no need to worry if you have a 2013 model as it is unaffected by the recall. If you're experiencing power steering problems, it may simply be due to low fluid levels. The power steering fluid reservoir can hold 3 US quarts, so a complete refill should only run you about $20 to $30 if you do it yourself. If you opt to have a professional take care of it, expect to pay between $120 and $160.

The Hyundai Elantra recall for the steering column warns that if power steering assistance is lost, drivers will need to exert more effort to steer the car at lower speeds, increasing the potential for accidents. Hyundai is required to inspect the electronic power steering (EPS) system's functionality and provide a complimentary upgrade to the EPS control unit.
