Taking out or replacing the check engine light in a Ford Ranger can be quite complex and not usually worth the time and effort involved. To access the instrument cluster, you will have to remove the dashboard, which can be a job that lasts an afternoon by itself. Some drivers have attempted this to get rid of the light and conceal problems, and I hope that is not your intention. If you are thinking of selling the truck, this action would be dishonest at the least and potentially illegal at worst. If you are contemplating this to deceive your inspection technician, keep in mind that removing the light will not clear the stored codes, and the system will still fail the inspection. I apologize if I am assuming the worst, but asking about this without a clear reason is quite suspicious.

It's quite a challenge to reach that spot in the truck. You'll need to take off the dashboard first, and then locate the bulb.
