To reset your car's anti-theft system, start by entering the vehicle and closing the doors. Insert the key into the ignition and turn it on, then quickly turn it back off. Repeat this process a total of eight times in under 12 seconds. After the eighth time, leave the key in the on position, wait for about 5 minutes until the anti-theft light blinks. Once it blinks, start the engine to complete the reset. If the engine doesn't start, try to turn the key on and off faster.

I own a 2006 Ford Ranger 4x4 with an annoying issue. The anti-theft light keeps blinking even after I turn off the truck. I tried the key trick multiple times and the door locks responded, but the blinking light persists when I remove the key and close the door. Is this behavior normal, or can I completely turn off the light somehow?

My 2002 Ford Ranger's keyhole has been drilled too far, making it impossible to use a new key. It also has an anti-theft device. What should I do to start the car?

Here's my experience: I drive a 1999 Ford Ranger with manual windows and locks, so no remote. I lost my only key, and had a locksmith come to cut a new one and program it. He spent several hours on it, but couldn't figure out why the key wasn't working. The theft light on my truck should blink every 2 seconds when the key is out, but it stayed solid when I tried to start the engine, which wouldn't start properly. To solve the issue, I did the following steps: disconnected the battery, inserted the key in the ignition in the "start" position, reconnected the battery, turned the key off, and then started the car as usual. It worked for me after having the battery disconnected for about an hour. If it doesn't work at first, you might want to try leaving the battery disconnected for longer.

I own a 1996 Ford Ranger. I've tried bypassing everything I know how to bypass, but I'm not getting any signal to the injectors. I'm torn between checking out a junkyard or a salvage yard for parts. It's really frustrating because I've only had the truck for a week and nothing I've tried so far has fixed the issue.

Insert the key into the ignition, turn it to the "on" position, and then back to the stop position. Repeat this process eight times before leaving the key in the "on" position. If the doors lock, it means the system has been successfully reset.

If you ever find yourself in a situation where your ignition is broken, you can use a screwdriver to turn it to the "on" position and then go under the hood to jump the solenoid. This should get your truck started right away.

In 2009 Ford Ranger, it starts without any issues, but then random lights come on for 1 or 2 seconds before turning off. I am not sure what could be causing this. Additionally, there is a vehicle symbol flashing on the dashboard, even though there was no alarm given. The dealership informed me that they no longer make alarms for this truck.

In 2001, with a Ranger, ensure your battery is completely charged. After three attempts, the process was successful! Once you have started it, remember to turn it off. Repeat this sequence eight additional times, aiming to complete it in less than 12 seconds.
