I own a 2015 Macan S, and back in March 2019 at 19,000 miles, I had to get the transfer case replaced. Now, in August 2021 at 27,000 miles, it needs to be replaced again. Luckily, Porsche extended the warranty, so I got $3,000 back for the first replacement. The second replacement is just outside the 7-year extension period offered by Porsche.

The customer's car was recently serviced by an independent "Specialist" service center in our town, as shown in the service record that only mentions an engine oil change. I'm wondering if this service center also conducted diagnostics or performed a general health check on the vehicle. I'm interested to know what factors could indicate abnormal behavior and what is the typical lifespan of a working transfer box in terms of distance or time.
