The Porsche Macan has gained reputation for experiencing transfer box issues, although it doesn't affect all models. Some drivers have noticed sensations of vibration or stuttering acceleration when starting from a standstill or driving at speeds of 25-35 mph. It can be likened to driving over multiple small speed bumps, starting subtly and becoming more pronounced over time. This problem seems to stem from how Porsche integrated the four-wheel drive system in the transfer case. Due to numerous reports, Porsche has extended warranty coverage for the transfer case, but no official recalls have been made. If you encounter this issue, it's advisable to have your vehicle inspected by a professional before it worsens.

The Porsche Macan transfer case has experienced documented issues such as clicking sounds and difficult gear shifting, both of which are connected to potential transfer case failure.

I own a 2015 Macan S, and back in March 2019 at 19,000 miles, I had to get the transfer case replaced. Now, in August 2021 at 27,000 miles, it needs to be replaced again. Luckily, Porsche extended the warranty, so I got $3,000 back for the first replacement. The second replacement is just outside the 7-year extension period offered by Porsche.

I'm in the business of trade and currently interested in purchasing a 2015 Porsche Macan S from a customer. I am curious to learn more details about the car since I own a 2017 Diesel S model that I got serviced at Porsche in December. The customer's car was recently serviced by an independent "Specialist" service center in our town, as shown in the service record that only mentions an engine oil change. I'm wondering if this service center also conducted diagnostics or performed a general health check on the vehicle. I'm interested to know what factors could indicate abnormal behavior and what is the typical lifespan of a working transfer box in terms of distance or time.
