The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) is investigating complaints about potential power steering issues in certain models of the Chevrolet Equinox and GMC Terrain manufactured between 2010 and 2012. Drivers have reported feeling like their steering wheel is sticking and requiring more effort to turn. General Motors (GM) supposedly issued a service bulletin with repair instructions for dealerships and extended warranties to address the problem. However, the NHTSA is now looking into cases where vehicles that were fixed under this bulletin still encountered the same issue. While there has been one reported crash and injury linked to the problem, GM asserts that it does not pose a safety hazard.

The electronic power steering rack failing is probably the main reason for the power steering issues in a 2011 Chevy Equinox.
