After that, drive normally, gradually accelerating up to 4,000rpm in each gear if you can. This process will reset the ECU, allowing it to re-learn its fueling and other functions. Today's cars and trucks utilize the electronic control unit (ECU) to manage the engine and various components. Essentially a computer with internal chips, the ECU functions similarly to a home computer or laptop. Input sensors and output components work together within the engine's computer ECU to control all engine operations.
