To perform a throttle body relearning process on the Ford Fusion, follow these steps: 1. Park the car on a level surface, engage the parking brake, and shift to park. 2. Turn off all accessories, start the engine, and let it warm up to operating temperature while idling for at least one minute. 3. Turn on the air conditioning and continue idling for another minute. 4. With your foot on the brake pedal and the AC still on, release the parking brake and let the car idle for an additional minute. 5. Remove your foot from the brake, shift into drive, and drive the vehicle for at least 10 miles to recalibrate the throttle body. Modern Ford models, including most 2000 Ford vehicles, utilize an electronic throttle body (ETB) controlled by the car's main computer. Relearning the ETB through this process can help address issues like a rough idle, especially after a battery disconnect.

Please begin by inserting the key into the ignition. Keep it in the 0 or off position. Next, press and hold the sel/reset knob or button located on the right side of the steering wheel. Turn on the headlights, and while still holding the sel/reset button, toggle the headlights off, then on, and off again within five seconds. Let go of the sel button, then press it three times within three seconds. Finally, turn the ignition off.
