The Toyota Tundra's overdrive button is designed to prevent your truck from shifting into overdrive, the highest gear. This feature can come in handy when you need a sudden boost of power, such as when passing another vehicle on the highway or requiring quick acceleration. Utilizing the overdrive lock button can aid when merging onto or exiting the highway, or when ascending a gradual incline at high speeds. There are numerous scenarios where this function can be useful, providing a speed increase for improved handling. However, it is not advised to use it in harsh winter conditions due to the potential reduction in traction caused by the extra torque.

Find the overdrive button (o/d) on the gear shifter. Positioned to the left of the gear shifter, below the gear shift button, you'll discover the overdrive button. Although smaller, it functions similarly: push it in to activate overdrive, press it again to disengage and turn off overdrive.
