The recall for fuel leaks on Chevy HHRs is because of rust on the metal fuel lines beneath the car near the left rear wheel. A total of 614,000 vehicles are included in the recall. The rust usually happens at the polymer blocks holding the fuel lines to the car's underbody, located near the exhaust pipe and muffler. Thankfully, there haven't been any fires or injuries reported from these leaks. If you own an affected vehicle, you will receive notification or can contact your local Chevy dealer to schedule the necessary repair.

It seems like Jeff isn't very skilled at fixing cars! While no car is flawless, these affordable little vehicles are excellent and highly dependable.

I repair cars and it's frustrating how poorly this car was built. I had to replace both front axles, all four wheel bearings, and the water pump. The header cracked due to exhaust blockage and overheating. The exhaust design with the meshed pipe was questionable. And now, the fuel lines are leaking - it feels like this car is going to fall apart any moment!

I am experiencing a similar issue with my 2010 HHR, and the GM dealership in Mooresville, Indiana claims they are unaware of this problem. They offered to repair it, but at my own expense. I believe it may be worth considering a class action lawsuit against GM for this issue.

  • Mitchell A

My 2011 HHR is experiencing the same issue, but the recall information only covers vehicles up to 2009. It seems unlikely that someone has a 2020 HHR as they were not produced then. It could have been a mistake though.

Some people claim they had their fuel lines replaced at no cost. What steps did you take to make that happen? I own a 2011 Chevrolet HHR with 73,000 miles, and after about a week, it struggles to start up.

Why hasn't the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration issued a recall for the 2009 Chevrolet HHR with a leaking fuel line issue?

  • Jennifer S

I own a 2009 model that is experiencing the same problem, as well as a few additional issues. It seems like they all have the exact same issue. Unfortunately, there hasn't been a recall, and now I am left to foot the repair bill or find more money to buy a new one. On top of that, due to these problems, it seems like I won't be able to trade it in for any value.

  • Tamika G.

I own a 2007 HHR and I'm facing a similar problem. The dealer tells me there's no recall for my car. I feel like we're all being given the runaround. One thing's for certain, I'm really frustrated.
