The P2138 error code on a 2007 Honda Accord indicates a problem with the accelerator pedal position sensor, as detected by the Electronic Control Module (ECM). Signs of a faulty sensor include stuttering during acceleration, poor idling of the engine, and decreased fuel efficiency. Replacing the sensor typically costs between $30 and $50, with additional labor fees of $75 to $95 if done at a shop. The sensor is located on the passenger side of the engine compartment near the firewall. To access it, you'll need to remove the plastic panel cover at the back of the engine, below which the sensor is positioned. The sensor is secured by three 10mm screws under a plastic cover that must also be removed.
