The 2014 Mazda3 offers 12.4 cubic feet of cargo space with the ability to expand to 47.1 cubic feet in the rear of the car. This amount of storage is quite competitive for a compact hatchback like the Mazda3. The cargo space is ideal for accommodating a few passengers and their belongings, making it convenient for regular tasks such as grocery shopping and running errands. However, if you need to transport larger items like furniture, you will need a vehicle with more rear storage capacity. The Mazda3 is a great compact car for city driving, but it is not primarily designed for heavy cargo hauling.

Regrettably, Pat T's response is only partially accurate. The right answer is that the 2014 Mazda 3 hatchback's rear cargo area is 364 liters (12.85 cubic feet), expanding to 1360 liters (48.2 cubic feet) when the seat is folded down. In contrast, the Mazda 3 Sedans have a smaller trunk size of only 419 liters (14.8 cubic feet). I found this information in the 2014 spec sheet for my Mazda 3 Hatchback. As I am in the process of selecting a new car, I cannot find any hatchbacks in this category that offer a cargo capacity close to Pat T's claimed 20.2 cubic feet. Although other sources online may support Pat T's figure of 20.2 cubic feet, they are also inaccurate.

On the 2014 Mazda 3 hatchback, the rear cargo area measures 20.2 cubic feet, but this expands to 47.1 cubic feet when the seats are folded down. In comparison, the Mazda 3 sedans come with a smaller trunk space, measuring only 12.4 cubic feet.
