In the 2005 Ford F-150, the EVAP cannister plays a crucial role in the vehicle's emissions system. Positioned on the driver's side of the truck's firewall, to the left of the brake booster and master cylinder, it helps prevent the emission of harmful emissions and gas vapors. If you're seeing the "check engine" light illuminated, detecting a strong fuel odor at the back of your truck, experiencing decreased fuel efficiency, or observing leaks, it's possible that the EVAP cannister in your F-150 is damaged and needs to be replaced. This component absorbs emissions and gas vapors using activated charcoal, preventing them from being released into the atmosphere. The typical cost of replacing the EVAP ranges from $370 to $470, covering both parts and labor.

The assembly for the Vapor Canister is situated below the spare tire near the gas tank in vehicles. It includes the canister, vent valve, and two other parts. The PURGE Valve is attached to the driver's side of the engine firewall near the brake booster. To uninstall the Vapor Canister assembly, you must disconnect two hoses (one connected to the gas tank and one leading to the Purge valve) and an electrical connector (a two-pin connector that controls the vent valve). Removing the Vapor Canister Assembly requires unscrewing 8-10mm bolts. The cost of this assembly is approximately $350, but it seems possible to change the individual components.
