In a 2006 Chevy TrailBlazer, the primary oxygen sensor is situated in the exhaust manifold near the connection with the exhaust pipe. Its role is to monitor the oxygen levels in the exiting exhaust gas to assess the presence of unburned oxygen. If the air-fuel ratio is too rich, signaling high oxygen levels in the exhaust, the computer will adjust the air-fuel mixture entering the throttle body automatically. To uninstall the oxygen sensor, start by disconnecting the electrical connection at the tip and then utilize a 7/8-inch or 22-millimeter socket to turn it counterclockwise. It is advisable to let the engine reach its optimal temperature before attempting to remove the sensor, as the heat will cause a slight expansion of the exhaust manifold, facilitating the removal process.
