The purge valve in your 2013 Ford Escape is positioned under the air filter and intake hose. It opens at certain intervals to allow fuel vapors from the canister to flow into the intake manifold for combustion. An early sign of a defective valve may be a rough idle, along with issues starting the vehicle. Additionally, a faulty valve could trigger the Check Engine Light. Continuing to drive with a malfunctioning purge valve can cause damage to other components, so it is important to address the issue in a timely manner.

The purge valve can be found next to the air filter box underneath the intake hose, not at the back of the canister like the vent valve! Remember, the purge valve is in the front and the vent valve is in the rear.
