If you see the OBD code p1e00 pop up on your Chevy Volt, it could point to a problem with the battery. This code typically indicates a generic electrical issue that is often accompanied by other codes. Some Volt owners have reported difficulty in holding a charge, especially in older models from 2011 to 2013. It is recommended to have a professional technician, especially one with hybrid expertise, investigate this matter since hybrid vehicles like the Volt are complex, utilizing a separate system called Hybrid Powertrain Control Module 2 (HPCM2). Specialized diagnostic tools are required to read this system, which most consumers do not possess. Therefore, a trip to a local hybrid car specialist should be anticipated when dealing with the p1e00 code on a Volt.

If your Chevy Volt displays a P1E00 code, it indicates that the check engine light is illuminated, signaling a possible issue with the vehicle's charging system.

I drove my car to CRIECO in Delray Beach, Florida, because they claimed to have a technician specializing in hybrid cars. After waiting for four days for the technician, I was charged $200 for a diagnosis revealing that it would cost $30,000 to repair my car. I decided not to proceed with the repairs, and then had to pay another $200 to have the car towed back home, even though it was running perfectly when I brought it in. Needless to say, it was far from being "my favorite day ever" - to quote Winnie the Pooh, that was me being sarcastic!

No way, that's false and definitely shouldn't be labeled as the top answer. The P1E00 code is a standard signal that the OBD system needs the check engine light turned on and there are more important codes to look at. Seriously, Google.

I also received the P1E00 error code. I cleared it today using a reader/scanner, which allowed me to recharge it. There were no additional codes, the cooler level is fine, so it might just be a minor issue. If it occurs again, I will consider reprogramming the HPCM and BECM.

I had a reconditioned lithium battery put into my car, and now it's not charging (code P1E00) even though it was working fine before. I got the hpcm and becm reprogrammed, and it charged once but then the issue recurred.

I encountered the same issue - the battery coolant was low. The other areas were fine. I topped it up with the correct fluid and reset the check engine light at AutoZone. Now I am able to charge it again.
