The 2009 Chevrolet Tahoe holds 6.0 quarts of engine oil with a filter change. To change the oil in the vehicle, ensure it has been turned off and allowed to cool for a couple of hours to avoid burns. Locate the oil pan and drain plug underneath the engine compartment. Place a bucket beneath the plug, remove it, and let the oil drain completely, which may take about an hour. Once it has finished draining, reattach the drain plug, then fill the oil pan through the intake port using a funnel. Be careful not to overfill, as this can cause leaks and oil burning. It's okay to be slightly below full. Close the port once the oil is at the right level, clean up any spills, and you're done.
