For a 2012 Chevrolet Suburban 1500, you'll need A5w-30 viscosity oil and it takes 8.5 quarts. Before changing the oil, make sure the car has been turned off and parked for a few hours to avoid getting burned by hot oil. Locate the oil pan and drain plug underneath the engine compartment. Place a bucket underneath and remove the plug to drain the oil into the pan. Let it drain completely, which might take about an hour. Once it's done dripping, replace the drain plug and refill the oil through the intake port on top of the oil pan using a funnel. Be careful not to overfill, as it can cause leaks and oil burn off. A slightly underfilled oil level is better. Close the port securely, clean up any spilled oil, and you're done with the oil change.
