The recommended oil for these engines is the ACDelco dexos1 Synthetic Blend with a viscosity grade of SAE 5W-30. If using a different oil, it must have the same viscosity grade and be licensed with the dexos1 approved certification mark. The van is equipped with an Engine Oil Life System that monitors the need for an oil change based on engine revolutions, temperature, and mileage. When it's time for an oil change, the van will display "CHANGE ENGINE OIL SOON". It is advised to have the oil and filter changed within the next 600 miles after receiving this message.
