Based on the configuration you choose for your 2017 Ford Mustang, it will be equipped with one of four different engines. The smallest 2.3L 4-cylinder engine requires 5.7 quarts of SAE 5W-30 full synthetic motor oil. The V6 options (3.7L and 5.0L) each need SAE 5W-20 full synthetic motor oil, with capacities of 6.0 and 8.0 quarts, respectively. The largest 5.2L V8 engine uses SAE 5W-50 full synthetic oil with a capacity of 10.0 quarts. It is possible to use oil with a slightly higher viscosity if necessary, but it is generally not recommended as it can increase friction and potentially lead to engine damage.
The 2017 Ford Mustang comes with different engine options, each requiring specific types and amounts of oil. The 2.3L 4-cylinder engine uses SAE 5W-30 oil and can hold 5.7 quarts. The 3.7 V6 engine prefers SAE 5W-20 and has a capacity of 6 quarts. The 5.0L V8 engine also uses SAE 5W-20 but can hold 8 quarts, while the 5.2L V8 engine requires SAE 5W-50 oil and has a capacity of 10 quarts.
I can't speak for the other engines, but my 2017 V6 3.7L doesn't need full synthetic oil. I've been to three different FORD dealers in Southern California, and all of them have used 5w-20 semi-synthetic oil in my car.
I can't speak for the other types of engines, but I own a 2017 V6 3.7L that doesn't necessarily need full synthetic oil. I've visited three different FORD dealerships in Southern California, and all of them have used 5W-20 semi-synthetic oil in my car.
